I am hopeful this place gets better but they are not off to a good start. My wife and I visited for breakfast. She ordered a waffle, which was really good. It came out in about 10 minutes. I ordered Eggs Benedict, which never came.
We waited over half an hour, by which time my wife had finished her food, for mine to come out.
Someone at the table next to us had ordered the Eggs Benedict and we learned they had run out of Canadian bacon. Rather than tell anyone, they just sent her plate out as poached eggs on English muffins with no meat. They offered to make things right by her, and I figured, well surely she'll come to our table to tell me the news. Nope! I looked at the guy next to the lady with the eggs on English muffins and said, "Well, I ordered the same thing she did so I think I'm just going to get a refund." The cashier was very nice about it but didn't know how to refund a transaction to a credit card, but gave me cash. No harm no foul, but also somewhat of a telling sign that they are still in the learning phase.
My wife and some friends visited the week before and they had run out of eggs, which seems wild for a breakfast restaurant. I get Canadian bacon as it's a little more niche and niche things in Juneau can be hard to get at times. But a sign at the register letting us know there's no Canadian bacon would have been nice. I would have simply changed my order from the start.
To their credit, the staff was very friendly, but like many places in Juneau they are a bus your own table restaurant and ask for a tip when you order, which is a little backwards. You've provided no service yet but the customer is supposed to guess how good you'll do. I tipped 25% based off the food I originally ordered, so they made out on the tip for the entire check before the refund. Again, don't mind tipping at all, but there is an expectation that you'll be better and doing your job if I'm tipping up front. read more
