Sandwich- not great, not awful. Got the Turkey Pesto Sandwich @ $11.19. The menu lists sandwiches as "Hot" - they are not hot - they were in the bakery case pre-made so was quick. read more

3.5 stars A simple, no frill place inside the Mendenhall Mall (can even get some shopping down afterwards). My friend got the immunity booster juice and the grilled cheese and I got the cup of clam chowder for a little over 5 bucks. You could definitely taste the bacon flavor in it, but the soup itself was a little runny. It came out quick and piping hot though. Good for a quick, light lunch 2025 #10 read more

Unfortunately it seems this establishment is on a downward spiral. It stays mildly clean with okay service. The food took 40 minutes to get one sandwich out that was slightly warm. Nothing special about this sandwich and for me to consider it a melt the cheese should be melted well. The pickles that were on the plate looked like they found them when moving the furniture. My spiced chai was about average in taste without being completely watered down. There is room for improvement. This establishment is staffed with children and I love the thought but maybe the lack of management might be the issue to start with. read more

Not sure if it's the culture to be grumpy at grumpy's but when I ordered and asked for a particular smoothie, I was corrected by the girl behind the counter who said "we are OUT of bananas" as if I was supposed to know. There was no sign up and I was surprised at how sassy the response was. Coming from a culture where customer service is vital for the survival of a business this was super disappointing and I almost left. I took a step back and said "oh I'm sorry" and took another few mins to make sure I wasn't rude back then went back to order with a diff girl. I hope I just caught her on a bad day or at a bad time, but wish this wasn't my experience. The coffee was yummy and the smoothies too. read more

We came in and were greeted immediately, the staff are super friendly! We picked up a menu and attempted to order the clam chowder... unfortunately they did not have soup at this location! I wish this info was online! Anyway we ordered the tuna melt... it was amazing, one of the best I've ever had tbh. The sourdough was grilled perfectly. My husband ordered the Bubbas melt, he said it was good. We also got the detox and the energizer. I definitely recommend this place but I'd go to the downtown location next time for soup. read more

I ordered a sandwich to go, my partner pointed out some hair so I looked and my sandwich bread was completely covered in little white hairs. I puked and feel very grossed out. read more

Sandwiches are pretty good. My favorite are the breakfast sandwiches. I especially like Grumpy's breakfast. It's got everything on it, ham, bacon, cheese and eggs! They have a pastrami sandwich which they say is traditional but not really because they put swiss cheese on it. A traditional pastrami would have any cheese on it. The traditional kosher delis back east do not mix dairy and meat. It is against the kosher rules that are part of the Jewish religion. But don't let get me wrong. I love the pastrami sandwich whether it has cheese or not. Grumpy's is no exception. read more

Our cruise ship stopped in Juneau for many hours. Walked the streets looking at trinkets, carvings and needed a break. Had a berry smoothie at Grumpy's and it was just the right thing on a warm day of 70s+. Nice staff who split our smoothie for us. This mall has some nice stores inside so check it out. read more

Grumpy has amazing food. The Bubba's melt is simple but addicting. I tried Zoodlrs with peanut sauce it was amazing. Zucchini cut in footling noodle shapes. I am not a huge veggie fan but this dish was outstanding. The new location near the hospital is easy to get in and out of with plenty of parking. If you are looking for a healthy lunch this place is at the top of the list. read more

I tried several times to order a souvenir via phone for a friend who has been here and due to miscommunication internally at Grumpy's my order kept getting lost. So why am I writing a 5-star review? Not only did I receive a handwritten apology and a very apologetic phone call, but they also sent the souvenir (and more) to me at no charge. I don't live in Alaska, and my order wasn't for much money. The fact they put so much effort into making up for the error is rare these days and it's great to see a company so focused on customer service. When I do make it to Alaska I will certainly visit (and wear the gear they sent!). read more

Had lunch here several times and each sandwich was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and cheerful. Will keep going there when in town.

I really like going here for the sandwiches. Although I have my favorite sandwich I have tried other sandwishes they make and have never been disappointed. Always delicious!!! There is also a salad bar and hot soups to go with your sandwich. This may seem strange but I am really glad they don't serve fries. Everyone that works there is super friendly and even though I go maybe once or twice a month they know what I like to order. GRUMPY'S!!!! I am never grumpy after I eat one of their sandwiches. read more

I've been coming to Juneau every summer for work for 8 years, but have only discovered Grumpys this year. A little tricky to find, have to go inside the Senate mall on Franklin. Juneau has some amazing restaurants for sure, but it's a lot of fried fish and potatoes and cheese and bread-- sometimes you just want a healthy option that's not 1,000 calories with a carb-coma. I have started a daily ritual of a fresh made vegetable and fruit juice, and one of their wraps like curry chicken and spinach for lunch. It'll make you feel great and guilt free! Heather the barista is a dear, and remembers my name and order making it feel like they truly appreciate my patronage (which is a feeling in short supply in Juneau). Stop in and enjoy a quick healthy pick me up, you'll be glad you found it them well! read more

Can't believe this place only has one review. We found it when we were on a cruise through Juneau last week and the Veggie Reuben was awesome, the staff was friendly, and it was a great break from the tourist traps. Yay! read more

Touring Juneau while our cruise ship was docked, we seen the sign hanging down in the shopping district and followed the long hallway back. We were pleasantly surprised; what a wonderful reprieve from the cold. The young man at the counter instantly greeted us like we were welcomed regulars, he gave us more than enough time to go over the menu. When we asked questions he answered them, and even encouraged us to try a local favorite. The food was served hot, and the blonde lady who delivered it from the kitchen even had a smile. Awesome place. read more

Not a fan.. I wanted to try this place for a while, and the wait.. was not worth it. The sandwich menu was less than impressive and they are all grilled (not healthy), seemed like poor ingredients and nothing special. I suppose if I were drunk and called in a delivery to a bar stool-I would have probably been stoked, but I didn't (so I wasn't) read more

Grumpy's is aptly named. Food with (an) attitude. Decent food and OK portions but it's a typical "herd-'em through" place for lunch. The juice bar next door is also theirs and it takes FOREVER to get your juice. Overpriced and not very tasty. They need to get back to basics. read more

Awesome selection of great sandwiches. Despite the name, staff offers service with a smile.

Great lunch spot! I always go for the salad bar and soup, avoiding the wheat. Always smells divine and a lively place with great service!

We stumbled on this place purely by accident while on our Alaskan cruise.
