Horrible service bread tasted like they left it out for a week and the soup tasted like sour piss

My girl and I were on an Alaskan cruise, and we needed some good coffee. Multiple locals told us about this place and it was amazing. The coffee was fantastic, the food was very good, the atmosphere was great just a really fun little coffee shop. I will definitely go back. We dipped in to Coppa for a pastry and a coffee, and enjoyed both! My partner had a mocha and I opted for the Aztec hot cocoa, which had a nice kick to it. Walked here from the cruise port to get a break from the weak, lazy espresso drinks on the Crown Princess. So glad we did! Our lattes were stellar and their turkey club panini was scrumptious. They use a thick smokey bacon that gives it extra flavor. We can see why it is a locals' favorite spot. Service was slow during lunch rush, but they kindly warned us about the wait. Perfect cute little spot and creative drink offerings. Brian loved just the drip coffee (smooth) with a little cinnamon. The Hot Honey latte was another fun one. (For those who aren't aware) Coppa just recently started roasting their own coffee beans! Being the persnickity coffee snob that I am, I was intrigued by their new venture and ordered a bag of their dark roast -- Midnight Harmony -- for personal homebrew'n. I opted for the French Press: 5 tbspns coarse burr-ground into a 4-cup FP, steeped at ~200F for 10 minutes. Results: excellent! This blend is very smooth, with nutty overtones, and a chocolatey finish. No bitterness, relatively calm (not super bold and in-your-face), and very drinkable straight-up. I prefer my coffee black, though find that few coffees 'make the grade' and require some cream to compensate for their lack of flavor and drinkability. This one, however, passed the test and then-some. I'm drinking the Midnight Harmony black, and loving it. Great job Coppa! read more

All taste amazing and they have gluten free options for some goodies and meals!! I like a good bowel of homemade soup and this is my go to place. Ingredients are fresh and the staff is very friendly. I was a little disappointed to hear that they stopped selling ice cream but that did not stop from from still going there. First time here as it is hidden away. Well, not exactly hidden, but quite a way from the downtown area. This coffee shop is actually better known for its ice cream. There is a Coppa food kiosk down on the waterfront which serves up mostly ice cream. The coffee was very tasty and there were lots of tables to sit at. The server was pleasant and our coffee was made quickly and efficiently. The inside of the store is not very cozy but is more designed for a quick stop, not a prolonged stay. After our glacier kayaking adventure, we walked around Juneau in search of treats for the kids. My youngest loves ice cream, and the Coppa stand at the food truck park seemed to be the perfect item - cold ice cream on a warm day from a local spot. They only had a few flavors to choose from, and he selected the chocolate, so I picked the rhubard sorbet for the adults. Both were really good - the rhubarb was tangy and sweet and light, and the chocolate was thick and rich and creamy. Today was me and my 18 month olds first time going there! We were excited to see all the options. We got there an hour after they opened and they were so quick to put out cinnamon rolls and treats that were just made! So many wonderful options of ice cream. My favorite part was some of the to go ice cream pints are in jars that you can bring back and save with! The workers were so sweet. This cafe is wonderful. I have walked past it for two months now and finally got my ass inside today. They offer a full food menu with veggie options and it seems everything is made in house! They are known locally for the homemade ice cream (rightfully so). Since I'm visiting I wanted to get something I couldn't get anywhere else... Thai salmon melt was amazing!!!!! A hot and satiating panini with cheddar, cilantro, onions, peppers, just delicious. They offer a full espresso bar and everything else like tea ad soda just no booze. If I were local this cafe would be a weekly thing. Service was high school so not as smooth in the delivery or flexibility of conversation but uber nice. Tipped for sure. GO TRY read more

People rave about Coppa's ice cream, and for good reason. Imaginative flavors and high quality ingredients make for a memorable scoop. On a recent visit they offered rhubarb sherbet, Belgian chocolate and burnt almond and Carmel with sea salt (a flavor so delicious I went back to get more) among others. They have a tiny little stand by Franklin Street (near the Crab Shack) that sells just ice cream. And ice cream is all you really need. A twist from traditional flavors is always a bonus. Their bonus is the "spruce tip" ice cream. Yes, that's the flavor of evergreen trees, and not something I see everyday. It has an interesting, mild scent that grows on you. It's indescribable. My favorite ice cream they make is the Sentinel Coffee, I tried the coffee and donuts which was a big miss. Huge chunks of stale dounugts that made the coffee ice cream taste off. Plus there's homemade ice cream. A little pricy, like most of Juneau, but good coffee, homemade sandwiches, and the ice cream is excellent. This morning I watched the owner, Mark, deal with a city power outage, while running the front by himself, looked like a staffer had called in sick. While he was serving a series of customers, 3 different groups of 10+ middle school kids came in doing a school scavenger hunt. The kids loudly asked him to pose for pictures, sing while he worked etc... oblivious to terrible timing. Given the circumstances, a lot of people would have snapped. Mark handled it with aplomb. Try the tangy rhubarb sorbet in spring, and cherry bourbon vanilla (with cherries harvested from yards all around the neighborhood) in summer. These folks care about their ingredients, their customers, and their community. If you work in the Federal Building you'll be here everyday.
