Great iconic gold rush era bar in downtown Juneau Alaska. Saw dust on the floor, cute servers in period costumes, live music from an 88 year old gentleman. Strong drinks, good food, fair price.

    Do we look like tourists?

Twenty five years later we finally made it back to the Red Dog! Sawdust still on the floor, great Alaskan paraphernalia on the walls and ceiling. DJ playing music and singing songs that were pretty much adult only and absolutely hilarious! Ordered the shrimp basket with chips and they were lightly breaded and fresh, not frozen. My with had the fish basket which consisted of lightly breaded cod and both were excellent. Our server was Monica who really took great care of us! We had to try the shots of Duck Farts which the Red Dog Saloon is famous for and they hit the spot! My IPA was stellar and my wife's Chardonnay was very good. If you're looking for an iconic bar to visit when in Juneau Alaska, this is the one to enjoy!

We were in Juneau for a few short hours and then we are headed to Japan. We walked here from the cruise ship based on a friends recommendation. When you arrive, they will direct you to a table from the front door (upstairs or downstairs). The floor is covered with about 3" of sawdust fyi (fun but you're not wearing high heels in here lol) We went upstairs and had the perfect vantage point of the entire bar. Our server, Jessica was quick to take our drink orders. The season is winding down so they were out of a few things. I ordered a house wine and DH ordered Alaskan Kolsch- both tasty. We ended up ordering 1/2 pizza with reindeer sausage - I mean, why not ? It was Detroit style with the toasty chewy crust and we really liked it. It was a nice snack. The place is total kitsch- everywhere. The entertainer sang songs from Rocky Horror picture show and then a country song and then Que se ra.. all over the place and told funny jokes in between. It's a fun place to spend a few hours and just laugh. Pricing wasn't too bad either. About $50 for 2 beers, 1 wine and the 1/2 pizza.

Yes, it's very tourist heavy. Yes, the food is average and salty. And yes, it is perpetually crowded. But still worth a drink and checking out the unique features of a Wild West saloon! The sawdust covered floors, the taxidermy on the walls, and the swinging doors are all perfect nostalgic touches. And they even have a real pistol from Wyatt Earp hanging behind the bar! You will feel transported back to frontier times! The food is typical bar food with lots of salt and sauce. If you like it that way, great! But would avoid the pretzel with cheese sauce, it was bland. The drink menu looked good and they had plenty of beer choices. The service was friendly if not prompt, but it was packed with cruise ship visitors when we went.

This place is definitely the 'it' bar in Juneau. And with good reason. The servers are fun and there was live music on stage in the middle of the day. Everyone orders the duck fart shot here and it's not just because the name is funny (although it is hilarious). It is also very tasty.

What a great Alaskan experience! Juneau the type that is difficult to describe. Good selection of local beers and fresh food. But what sets this apart is the atmosphere and entertainment! What great energy! Bring your sing-along voice and chime in - have a blast!

Holy cow this is a cool bar. The Duck Fart is a shot worth trying and the drinks are cheap. The servers are dressed in old fashion attire and they are quick. We had so much fun here. I wish this was back home. If it was we'd never leave.

The RED Dog is a crowded, I er priced tourist trap, but you absolutely have to go there and experience it. The beers are large and cold, the food is good, like the giant pretzels with cheese, and the atmosphere is great

At this time my review is solely about the side entrance. When coming in to Juneau on a cruise ship, I think it's safe to almost always expect this place to be crowded. I figured I'd give it a shot later in the afternoon, hoping being a solo may get me in a bit easier. As I walked through the saloon doors to a packed house, a gentlemen let me know if I was just there for the Duck Fart (which was of course my primary purpose for the visit!) that they had a "window" along the side of the building. When you exit the saloon doors and go around the corner, there's a tiny shop like area with merchandise and a bar area in which you can order shots. I finally got to try a Duck Fart, and for someone that is NOT a whiskey fan, I'd pop in every trip to snag one of those! The bartender was an older lady, super sweet and full of personality and stories. It was a fun quick stop!

If you are allergic to saw dust, keep your paws out of this place. The saw dust is all over the floor. Max got a beer and I their famous Duck Fart drink. You are supposed to slam the shot back and say, "Quack, quack, toss that sh!t back!" I stirred mine and sipped it. I know, that's a disgrace. Our server who was dressed in saloon attire helped create an 1880's gold mining atmosphere. Once you hit the Time Machine swinging doors, you would think you were in an era where Yelp didn't exist.

We had just spent the day exploring Juneau and were in need of a bite to eat. We passed by Red Dog earlier and it sparked my attention with its saloon style on the outside, so we decided to give it a try. I knew absolutely nothing about this place coming in and did not know how popular it was - This is a big spot for tourists but now I can 100% see why - It's charming as hell. As soon as you walk through the doors, you'll feel like you've enter the wild west. There are wood shavings all over the floor and old-timey decor everywhere... The theming is so spot on! To the left, you'll find a piano player adding even more to the ambiance. One of my Alaskan bucket list items was to try reindeer. I went for their reindeer hot dog and it was so good! (sorry rudolph) We loved Red Dog. It's a great place to check out while in town!

This is definitely a place you need to see while you're visiting! The bartenders, servers, and anyone who worked there were so nice and funny! The food was good but if you drink alcohol you gotta try the duck fart! The inside is covered in sawdust, I didn't mind but if you are allergic, be aware. Overall, the ambiance is super casual and fun.

This place was insanely crowded and we shockingly managed to find two seats in a back corner of the room. Thankfully we were close enough to the bar that when a couple people left the bartender moved us over there. He was super nice. Loved the random memorabilia everywhere; police badges, dollar bills, etc. we tried the legendary duck fart shots which were quite good. My husband decided to reenact Deadwood so that was weird but fun. He loved it so much he made us come back a second time

Live music, duck fart shots in hand, life doesn't get much better.

I was tired, having gotten up at 3 to get to the airport, and hungry after virtually no breakfast. We happened to see this little purple food truck and it looked like something to try, since we both like BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich was recommended to us, so we ordered one to share. NOT really big enough to share. Came with chips, so for us it kind of felt like a desperation meal. I didn't expect fine dining, by any means, but sometimes the food trucks have the BEST food going. I guess I should have read the reviews first because it seems like burgers are the way to go. All in all, it was tasty, but not overly so. If I find myself there again next season, I'm definitely going to try the burger.

We were visiting our friends that live in Juneau and they brought us here for a meal. Apparently this space is pretty new and mostly locals hang out here. There are many food truck choices at this place, but the burgers at the "can't miss it purple" Pucker Wilson's truck were great! I'm glad our local friends told us without hesitation. The burgers really hit the spot. Make sure you order fries if you want them, they don't come with the burgers. You place your order at the truck and they give you a buzzer that lets you know to come and get your food. It can get crowded so it would be good the have someone snag a table while you order.

The staff was very friendly and this is located in the same spot as the beloved Deckhand Dave's but there is no seating. My order came fairly fast which was great! I was handed a paper bag with the foot long inside of it. When I sat down to eat I immediately noticed the sandwich was cut in half then laid down on two separate pieces of paper and wrapped with the cut in the middle... this is a potential for disaster if you are not aware. I suggest they just wrap it in one large paper and send it. As for the food here is a few notes... Dill spear soggy and mild pickle taste with skin slightly crunchy. The bread is hoagie style, texture is slightly rubbery due to the moisture. I suggest lightly toasting the bread. The meat is cooked well done but is thinly sliced so it is tender but absent of any seasoning whatsoever. The caramelized onions needed a touch longer for that brown color and caramelized taste. These onions were mostly translucent. The cheese is thin so it melted well with the meat. The sandwich is on the lite side for grease which is great. Personally I think the sandwich needs a touch of salt like any beef because it brings out the flavors. It would also benefit from bell peppers as well as roasted red peppers. Would I recommend this establishment? I would say it is worth a try but I hope my review might assist you in making your own educated decision.
