Really loved the outdoor, chill vibe with several food truck like options as adult beverage options were plentiful and perfect for a few minutes off the cruise ship and to sit by the fire. The halibut fish and chips were perfect and so were the halibut tacos. You really don't get such fresh options in the mainland 48. The only place better I can think of is maybe in London. I decided what the heck. Let's try it again. Completely different experience and food. I don't hand out negatives reviews lightly. On 7/8/26, I went for lunch, and then for dinner with a group of folks. Then I see the owners response today (which more on that later). I don't know what to say regarding my prior experience. What I ate that day wasn't halibut, still in my mind. It was more like cod, wasn't meaty, and just lacked the flavor. However, I'm revising my review. On 7/8/2026, they definitely got it right, twice! Definitely was truly extremely fresh halibut, rockfish, and salmon. Fresh fish has this wonderful bite with the meat giving way with some bounce to it. This definitely had it. On that note, Dave, there is no need to attack me regarding your fish. Maybe your employee had to use a fryer more than usual or one went down. Maybe your sourced fish wasn't halibut. I didn't accuse you of KNOWINGLY serving non-halibut. Maybe your vendor dropped you off some flounder which texture wise, is not remiss of cod thinly sliced. Also micron filters don't filter out organic phenols and oils, so get your science up before you talk to someone who actually knows organic chem and food science. Your fryer can be dirty so don't t throw big brand names around like that absolves what I tasted. A simple apology and not attacking me indirectly would be great. I gave 5 stars, and despite your mannerisms towards me, I'm leaving it for the review of the food. I also get your passion for your biz. Bad reviews can ruin businesses, but I went back and tried it twice more so you're welcome. Good stuff though Dave. KEEP UP THE NICE WORK. I'll see you around. read more

The halibut fish tacos were really good. Although they seemed small, I was surprisingly full after I finished eating. A local vendor told me that would happen. It was prepared relatively quickly. Loved the setup of the food truck area! Great seating and ambiance. We got the variety fish and chips. I thought you pick 2 of the fish you want, but it was actually 2 of each fish! Even better! On a recommendation from a co-worker, my wife & I stopped by on a recent Alaskan cruise. As we had so much to eat during this trip, we only ordered the 3 Fish taco sampler to share. We arrived around 5:00 PM, so the line was pretty long. And we did wait a bit to get our food, though we were able to find an empty table. The food was very good, though we wish we were hungry enough to try more dishes. I guess we'll have to come back to Alaska again for a 2nd go! read more

Deckhand Daves is first as you enter. I recommend the taco sampler. I ordered this with a side of fries. Fries were nothing special but we devoured the tacos. It's from a small shack, plenty of seating in the wooden deck area covered by Edisson bulbs. There's fresh free water in service. Next to deckhand Dave's is a crepe place, oysters and champagne, and a beer boat. Yes, this place is magical. The attendant was so sweet and friendly, she walked us through the menu which ultimately lead us to pick the sampler. We are so glad we did. Deckhand Dave's Fish Tacos is a MUST when in Juneau!!! They have perfect beer-battered halibut tacos, the best I have ever had hands down. The outside is nice and crisp and the fish is delicate - the spicy crema also has a nice kick to it. Two years ago three of the halibut tacos cost $19.50, but they increased to $21. I don't mind the price increase because these tacos really are the best - I ate here 4 different times during my stay. I tried to Salmon Tots ($8) when I was still hungry, and found that there is little actual salmon in these, they are mostly fillers. They are still good however! I tried the Blackened Rockfish and Blackened Salmon and found that they give you less fish with this style versus the Beer Battered (which I assume needs to be thicker when you fry them). Overall, anyone who visits Juneau will be missing out if they don't try their halibut tacos!! I will be back one day read more

You order at the food truck, they give you a number, and then they bring your food right to your table. There are plenty of shaded seating areas, making it a great place to relax and enjoy your meal. What an amazing find. This restaurant is owned by a former commercial fisherman and they have a great menu. The atmosphere is also very relaxing. We had a vegetarian eater and a keto eater and hungry kids with us. We started off with lots of delicious oysters and beers . We then ordered halibut tacos and a wrap and fried halibut and it was all first class. They really know how to fry their fish. Great employees and great service. You can't go wrong here. During a week of camping and hopping around Alaska exploring everything it has to offer, we stumbled across Deckhand's an ideal pit stop on our road trip to enjoy some fresh, local fish. While the tacos weren't quite the ones I've been blessed to eat back home, they were still full of fresh, clean flavor. And honestly, I will never complain about fresh seafood. With the added slaw and hot sauce, they absolutely hit the spot. Road-trip food stops can really go either way when you're winging it, so we felt especially lucky and very satisfied to leave with full bellies and big smiles. The salmon tots came with homemade tartar sauce that paired well with the tots. My favorite fish taco was the salmon, but they were all good.
