We got the fish taco trio and fries at Deckhand Dave's while we were in Juneau. The tacos were really good and the fries were great too. It was a perfect casual lunch while we were walking around Juneau. The ambiance was probably my favorite part. They have the coolest outdoor seating with a really fun beer garden type of vibe. Lots of picnic tables and outdoor space and it felt like such a fun place to hang out. The staff was also really nice and everything was pretty quick and easy. Definitely recommend stopping here if you're in Juneau!
Food service is quick and the food was AMAZING! I definitely recommend the salmon tater tots, and the halibut tacos! Plenty of seating and other food trucks in the area.
This was a great place to grab beers and food and enjoy the outdoor seating. You order take your table sign and sit down. They find you with your food!!! It was fun to try the tacos and dirty fries. Loved the sauces.
The halibut fish tacos were really good. Although they seemed small, I was surprisingly full after I finished eating. A local vendor told me that would happen. It was prepared relatively quickly. The environment is great to hang out, slow down and chill. The tacos were a bit expensive but no regrets here.
On a recommendation from a co-worker, my wife & I stopped by on a recent Alaskan cruise. As we had so much to eat during this trip, we only ordered the 3 Fish taco sampler to share. We arrived around 5:00 PM, so the line was pretty long. And we did wait a bit to get our food, though we were able to find an empty table. The food was very good, though we wish we were hungry enough to try more dishes. I guess we'll have to come back to Alaska again for a 2nd go!
Stopped for the famous fish tacos and they didn't disappoint. Delicious. Very fresh and served with great toppings. There's also a beer from a local brewery that was made just to accompany the tacos. Service was quick. Location was good. Price reasonable. You will enjoy!
Delicious, fresh caught fish, smothered in fresh produce and mild/hot sauce. Are you getting hungry yet? This place add to your "must try". First it's in an open area with several food trucks. Deckhand Daves is first as you enter. I recommend the taco sampler. I ordered this with a side of fries. Fries were nothing special but we devoured the tacos. It's from a small shack, plenty of seating in the wooden deck area covered by Edisson bulbs. There's fresh free water in service. Next to deckhand Dave's is a crepe place, oysters and champagne, and a beer boat. Yes, this place is magical. The attendant was so sweet and friendly, she walked us through the menu which ultimately lead us to pick the sampler. We are so glad we did. Plus this place has gorgeous views of Alaska skyline, waterfalls, and the main part of town. Great place to rest, splurge, and enjoy Alaska at its best.
Ordered the combo with 3 different fish tacos: rockfish, salmon, and halibut. Personally the halibut one was the best one and if I didn't order oysters and beer from different food trucks I probably would've ordered more. This area has covered seating some with a fire pit and it's surrounded by multiple food truck options with 2 bar options and opposite ends. You order your food and then they bring the food to where you're sitting. I asked for my tacos spicy and I like my food with a good kick and I could've definitely had more spice on my tacos but you could order mild too.
These fish tacos are delicious! The crispy halibut was my favorite but they were all good. Fried to perfection and the sauce is awesome. The salmon tater tots were really good too! We also had their raw oysters that were good too! Expensive coming from New Orleans but nice to try!
Loved the setup of the food truck area! Great seating and ambiance. We got the variety fish and chips. I thought you pick 2 of the fish you want, but it was actually 2 of each fish! Even better! We really enjoyed them all but the halibut was the best! The fish was tender and the fry on them were nice and crispy. The Cajun fries were soooooo good!!!!! They almost some the show!
I decided what the heck. Let's try it again. Completely different experience and food. I don't hand out negatives reviews lightly. On 7/8/26, I went for lunch, and then for dinner with a group of folks. Then I see the owners response today (which more on that later). I don't know what to say regarding my prior experience. What I ate that day wasn't halibut, still in my mind. It was more like cod, wasn't meaty, and just lacked the flavor. However, I'm revising my review. On 7/8/2026, they definitely got it right, twice! Definitely was truly extremely fresh halibut, rockfish, and salmon. Fresh fish has this wonderful bite with the meat giving way with some bounce to it. This definitely had it. On that note, Dave, there is no need to attack me regarding your fish. Maybe your employee had to use a fryer more than usual or one went down. Maybe your sourced fish wasn't halibut. I didn't accuse you of KNOWINGLY serving non-halibut. Maybe your vendor dropped you off some flounder which texture wise, is not remiss of cod thinly sliced. Also micron filters don't filter out organic phenols and oils, so get your science up before you talk to someone who actually knows organic chem and food science. Your fryer can be dirty so don't t throw big brand names around like that absolves what I tasted. A simple apology and not attacking me indirectly would be great. I gave 5 stars, and despite your mannerisms towards me, I'm leaving it for the review of the food. I also get your passion for your biz. Bad reviews can ruin businesses, but I went back and tried it twice more so you're welcome. Good stuff though Dave. KEEP UP THE NICE WORK. I'll see you around.
excellent, fresh fish tacos. I had the blacked tacos which were nicely seasoned, moist, and came with an excellent thinly sliced slaw and some thick avocado crema. Hubby had the halibut chowder and enjoyed it - thick and rich. Service is quick and it is a fun food truck setting.
My cousin recommended this spot for fish tacos on a cruise stop and I was a bit skeptical at first. Fish tacos. How good can they get? Was I wrong. My life has been forever changed. Wow. The beer battered fried halibut tacos with mild avocado crema were absolutely mind blowing. So good that I ordered a trio and quickly went back to put in another order. I have not had a fish taco as perfectly fried and tender as these. Crap. This spot has set the bar for me and every time I eat a fish taco now, I will cry a little inside knowing I'll never get this perfection again.
I've been coming to Deckhand Dave's in Juneau for years after a local recommended it to me a long time ago, and it's been amazing to watch how popular this place has become. There's a reason people keep coming back--it's some of the freshest seafood you can get in Alaska! The entire setup is casual and fun. There is a lot of seating, but keep in mind it's all outdoors, so bring rain gear and dress warmly. Juneau weather can change quickly! There are several bars nearby if you want to grab a beer or wine to enjoy with your meal. You order your food, find a table, put your number on it, and somehow the staff always manages to find you and deliver your food. I have no idea how they do it, but they always do! Yes, it's pricey, but the quality is worth it. They only serve fresh, sustainably caught Alaskan fish, and you can really taste the difference. My go-to order is the Variety Taco Trio (I know I should branch out, but it's just so good!). The fresh salmon tacos when they're in season are fantastic, and the halibut is always a winner too. My husband loves the rockfish and chips--the fries are seriously stellar. They also have a great selection of local sauces for dipping, and you can help yourself. If they have the halibut chowder available, do yourself a favor and order it. A big bowl of warm, creamy chowder on a rainy, chilly Juneau afternoon is absolute perfection. They also offer oysters and champagne if you're looking for something a little extra. A quick note: they have plenty of signs about no outside alcohol, and they are very serious about it. Do not even think about BYOB--they will ask you to leave. They have free water available from jugs with cups, so just enjoy what they offer and follow the rules. Located downtown in Juneau, Deckhand Dave's is a must-stop for seafood lovers. It's casual, it's outdoors, and it's one of those places that feels like a true Alaska experience. Note that this is a seasonal restaurant (obviously)! It is outside seating only, and nobody wants to eat in the snow and cold. Absolutely delicious. The fish tacos were crispy, fresh, and loaded with flavor--the slaw, pico, cilantro, and creamy sauce all worked perfectly. Everything tasted fresh and came out perfectly cooked. Easy 5/5 -- I'd order both again. Very fast service. Would come back whenever I'm in the city. Just cruising through. read more

What an amazing find. This restaurant is owned by a former commercial fisherman and they have a great menu. The atmosphere is also very relaxing. We had a vegetarian eater and a keto eater and hungry kids with us. We started off with lots of delicious oysters and beers . We then ordered halibut tacos and a wrap and fried halibut and it was all first class. They really know how to fry their fish. Great employees and great service. You can't go wrong here. We all left full and happy. We will return here in the future. read more

I came here because I saw all the great Yelp reviews, and since I love fish tacos, I knew I had to give it a try. I'm so glad I did because it definitely lived up to the hype! I ordered the halibut fish tacos with the spicy crema, raw oysters & champagne, and a beer, and everything was amazing. The halibut was fresh, perfectly cooked, and the spicy crema took the tacos to the next level. They were easily some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. The ordering process was super easy. You order at the food truck, they give you a number, and then they bring your food right to your table. There are plenty of shaded seating areas, making it a great place to relax and enjoy your meal. The whole area is such a fun spot too. It's a cute food truck park with several different food trucks that have other types of food if fish tacos are not your thing. If you're visiting Juneau, this place is an absolute must. Everything was fresh, delicious, and well worth the visit. I definitely recommend it! read more

So my review is based on just one item off of their menu. We were walking around downtown Juneau after our shore excursion was cancelled due to the weather. Ordering and receiving food is efficiently run. There was a constant line but it's quick to order and you get a number to take with you to a table, where they bring out the food to you. I tried the salmon bites and it was flavorful, crisp and warm. Seasoning was just right and the dill-infused tartar sauce (?) complemented well. read more

Deckhand Dave's Fish Tacos is a MUST when in Juneau!!! They have perfect beer-battered halibut tacos, the best I have ever had hands down. The outside is nice and crisp and the fish is delicate - the spicy crema also has a nice kick to it. Two years ago three of the halibut tacos cost $19.50, but they increased to $21. I don't mind the price increase because these tacos really are the best - I ate here 4 different times during my stay. I tried to Salmon Tots ($8) when I was still hungry, and found that there is little actual salmon in these, they are mostly fillers. They are still good however! I tried the Blackened Rockfish and Blackened Salmon and found that they give you less fish with this style versus the Beer Battered (which I assume needs to be thicker when you fry them). Overall, anyone who visits Juneau will be missing out if they don't try their halibut tacos!! I will be back one day read more

OMG this place was amazing! We were visiting Juneau on a cruise ship and came here for lunch. I got the rockfish and chips. Husband got halibut tacos. The food was SO good. Like amazingly delicious. My husband actually went back and ordered more tacos. Service was quick and efficient. You order at the food truck and they give you a number and bring your food out to you. There's a nice little covered seating area to keep you out of the rain (because it's probably gonna be raining). Condiments and water were readily available. Loved everything about this spot and I would recommend to everyone visiting Juneau! read more

Worthy of the hype!! Great fish tacos and fish cakes. We really liked the spicy halibut. The fire pits and seating area is very communal and encourages chit chat with fellow diners. There is a covered tent area that protects you from occasional rain too. It's a short walk from the cruise ship area and there are 4-5 other food options in the same picnic area, making it an ideal stop for families with picky eaters. read more

I thought we had great fish tacos in San Diego. We do , but this place has incredible salmon and halibut tacos unlike anything I've ever had. Everything was really fresh. The ladies who recommended this place were spot on! read more

Hello! Lots of people have come through with shellfish allergies and not had an issue. When notified we make sure to keep everything separate.
