    Rockfish and chips..omg so good!
    Jennifer L.

OMG this place was amazing! We were visiting Juneau on a cruise ship and came here for lunch. I got the rockfish and chips. Husband got halibut tacos. The food was SO good. Like amazingly delicious. My husband actually went back and ordered more tacos. Service was quick and efficient. You order at the food truck and they give you a number and bring your food out to you. There's a nice little covered seating area to keep you out of the rain (because it's probably gonna be raining). Condiments and water were readily available. Loved everything about this spot and I would recommend to everyone visiting Juneau!

Very good fish tacos super fresh. The fries are the kind with little bits from the fryer on them aka my favorite. So this spot was for me. Lots of hot sauces to choose from and lots of local beers. If I didn't have a long walk I could have put a good buzz on here but only had a few. Great spot.

Worthy of the hype!! Great fish tacos and fish cakes. We really liked the spicy halibut. The fire pits and seating area is very communal and encourages chit chat with fellow diners. There is a covered tent area that protects you from occasional rain too. It's a short walk from the cruise ship area and there are 4-5 other food options in the same picnic area, making it an ideal stop for families with picky eaters.

I thought we had great fish tacos in San Diego. We do , but this place has incredible salmon and halibut tacos unlike anything I've ever had. Everything was really fresh. The ladies who recommended this place were spot on!

Wow! The fish and chips here are delicious. I love the breading - not too heavy but still crispy - and the fish is so juicy and fresh. We got the variety platter to try out all 3 different fish. My husband also had the fish tacos, which he said were some of the freshest fish tacos he's ever had. This is next to a large outdoor seating area which has both covered and not covered options. Fun to visit and delicious!!

Cute little area they have going on outdoors! Even if it is a little wet outside or cold, they have tents set up above the tables w some fires going on! Super cute and comfy. Service was fast and efficient! Tacos were amazing! Crispy, soft, flavorful. Those French fries are my niece's favorite so gf to get 2 for her and a little sharing w me but those sauces were good on top! Oysters and champagne that they offer was my favorite! Love a good raw oyster! Never thought ponzu would be a good topping for it but it was a game changer for me w the tobacco! They shuck it right there and serve it to you! They had two options when I went, small but flavorful and big and meaty one! Both were so good! Even had my nieces who don't like oysters to try it and changed their minds on oysters so they'll be back for sure!

Definitely stop by here if you have a port day in Juneau! You order your food at the front and they hand you a number to put at your table. It didn't take very long for our food to come out. Next to where the food comes out is a sauce table with utensils and napkins. The fish tacos here are amazing! We ordered the 3 fish sampler tacos that came with breaded salmon, blackened rockfish, and beer battered halibut with spicy avocado crema and the salmon tots. The salmon tots came with homemade tartar sauce that paired well with the tots. My favorite fish taco was the salmon, but they were all good. From the sauce area, you need to try the Bullwhip Kelp & Piri Piri! The sauce also paired well with the tacos. I bought some bottles to take home with me after my trip.

Wonderful outdoor area for food and drinks! The area is set up nice and there are tables and chairs to eat. Ordered food & drinks which come to your table and the service was prompt and a reasonable amount of time. Everyone was friendly and I recommend.

Got the shrimp tacos as this was gluten free. It was delicious, loved the toppings. I also added more hot sauce thats next to the water dispensers in the seating area. There's another tent that sells oysters, the big ones were $7 and had a very strong ocean taste. The small petite ones were great, and were my preference

Glad we took the time to grab a bite to eat here on our Alaskan Cruise. Loved sitting over by the fire pits after sunset, perfect ambiance. Rockfish Tacos were fried to perfection. The spicy crema does have a little kick so watch out. Salmon Tots were delicious, think it comes with a tartar sauce, perfect little bites!

Great food and very friendly service. They have fires if it is chilly and the food is very fast.

Son eating salmon tacos, he loved it!

We stoped in Juneau on our cruise and enjoyed a full day of salmon fishing. While fishing the captain recommended Deckhand Dave's Gish Tacos as it was one of his local favorites. He was right! The tacos were amazing! My son ordered 3 salmon tacos and I ordered the 3 taco spicy sampler. Each taco was great, my favorite was the battered Halibut. You could tell the fish was fresh and tasted amazing. I also tried the salmon cake (like crab cakes) and it was delicious, I especially enjoyed the spicy sauce the served for dipping. Prices were very reasonable and it didn't feel like a tourist trap. Atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, seating was covered to stay dry and overall just a great place. I'm glad our captain recommended Deckhand Dave's, we loved it and would definitely go back!

I noticed that their menu occasionally has shellfish. Has anyone with a shellfish allergy eaten here without issue?

It was not overly battered and perfectly fried. It was so fresh. The sidewinder fries were awesome! The Drive Through burger was delicious and the fries were also yummy. We got the pickles in the side - the person running the truck told us he makes the pickles. They were sooooo good. He also brought out a sample of the bbq chicken for us and it was very good. We sat at the table outside and ate the food and it was great! I will absolutely be back here the next time I am in Juneau. This place is a must-try!

While this isn't my favorite (try Sandbar), the fish is fresh and it's pretty hard to complain. Another win for fish and chips in the area. The shape of the potatoes is a bit weird looking, but surprisingly it works and they were nice and crispy. I did think the fish batter was a tad doughy on the inside, and yet a little overcooked on the outside. Not the end of the world though, and I still enjoyed it. We did stop by during the week for lunch and the truck was closed, which was a bit annoying. One of the brewery employees said this place doesn't always open reliably, for various reasons. Just something to be aware of. Better luck on the weekends. Overall it's a nice spot right next to the Alaskan Brewing Company, which has lots of great beers and a nice patio spot out back to eat your fish, have a beer, and hang out with your dog. Yum!

Red Dog Saloon is small and packed so we had to wait to enter towards the later hours due to our party size of 7. We didn't eat during our stay but we did have a couple drinks. It was fun to look at all the business cards, patches, hats etc. covering every inch of the walls and ceiling. Floors of sawdust assist with the old-time gold rush days feel. I had heard a lot about the…read moreplace and expected a fun atmosphere with decent service, but my experience ended up being frustrating from start to finish. The restaurant was crowded and loud, which I understand can happen in a popular tourist spot, but the staff seemed completely overwhelmed and uninterested in helping customers. What bothered me most was the service from our waitress, Summer. In my experience, she came across as disrespectful and dismissive the entire time we were there. Simple questions about the menu felt like an inconvenience to her, and the attitude we received made the whole meal uncomfortable. We were rushed while ordering, had long waits for drinks and food, and when we tried to politely ask about the delay, the response felt rude instead of helpful. The food itself was average at best and definitely not worth the prices. Some items arrived lukewarm, and parts of our order were incorrect. By the time everything was fixed, the rest of the table had already finished eating. The atmosphere may appeal to tourists looking for the "old saloon" vibe, but customer service should still matter no matter how busy a place is. Overall, this was one of the least enjoyable dining experiences I've had in Alaska. Between the poor service, long waits, and disrespectful attitude we experienced from Summer, I wouldn't choose to come back or recommend it to others. I hope management takes customer concerns more seriously in the future because the location and concept have a lot of potential.
