Prices were very reasonable and it didn't feel like a tourist trap. Atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, seating was covered to stay dry and overall just a great place. I tried the three sampler fish tacos and the other two weren't that good. Their fries are very flavorful and crispy. I did not like the salmon bites. They didn't have any flavor and I barely tasted any salmon, just some kind of filling that had no seasoning. What is worth it is the halibut chowder. I would've gotten two bowls for myself. $16 is kind of steep for a small bowl, but that's the normal price out here (I'm a tourist from California). Highly recommend their chowder tho!! seasoned perfectly and not too creamy or watered down with plenty of fish and filling!! The place is more of like a food truck surrounded by other food trucks outside. Tables are outside. They have a clean upgraded version of port o potties outside. If ur lucky you can find a table with a small enclosed fireplace thing bc dang it was soo cold that day. There are tables with built in fireplaces, which takes the chill off on those drizzly days. I visited twice and had the panko breaded salmon tacos, and then the blackened rockfish tacos. Both were delicious, but if I had to choose between the two I would choose the salmon tacos. There are also great beer selections (ordered separately from the tacos). Service was quick. The menu is small but to me that says what they do is done well, and that was absolutely the case. I first had the rockfish tacos and then second time had the Wild Alaskan shrimp tacos (3 for $16.50). I held the special sauce for dairy free purposes sadly but they were still so good. The shrimp were some of the best I've had and they gave you a healthy portion of them also. Very thankful for the delicious corn tortillas that held together and also allowed me to eat gluten free. Deckhand Dave's was a "must" visit during our last trip to Alaska, at least that's what I was told. After you jump off your cruise ship, it's just a short walk down the Main Street to the ordering area and outdoor seating. We tried a variety of tacos and they were all quite tasty, with one huge disappointment; the tortillas. I get the fact they are selling tacos hand-over-fist and need tortillas in mass quantities, but these were a huge faux pas that detracted immensely from the fish. It was such a distraction I wish I hadn't ordered these flat, cold, shingles to wrap the tasty salmon and halibut. At least warm them up in a little bit of oil or butter to make them mailable and extra tasty. The salsa is weak and there wasn't anything spectacular I'd use to tickle my tastebuds into action. The fish was delicious, tasty and fresh. My mother kept saying, "This is the best Cod I've ever had." We kept correcting her though, "it's halibut!"
