Look, I'm not here to talk about the price. I knew what to expect and knew I was coming to Alaska a year in advance and saved to go here (although yes-- places like Las Vegas will run you cheaper and you'll get more). Just do your research in advance as prices fluctuate and save up. We came a week after the second location closed for the season so we waited probably 40 minutes in line. The line would have moved quicker if there was someone inside helping herd patrons I think and make sure they weren't sitting like every other seat at the bars or using the seats to stow belongings which I found to be a bit annoying but that's not the shack's fault-- that's just selfish American culture for you. My husband and I got a medium and the bisque. I heard the crab is usually caught and frozen and steamed so usually tourist season it's just rewarmed but honestly the red king crab we had wasn't chewy at all. It's chocked full of protein so even the three legs for big eaters like us and three claws plus the bisque which had plenty of crab in it as well was filling. The legs were partially cracked so for us so accessing the meat was quite easy. Honestly, all in all, a bucket list meal fulfilled. read more

Try if you must, but expect long waits and sky high prices. Inside is absolute chaos, and even more complicated for those with kids or mobility wheels. There's no space to breathe. The food: Crab bisque and crab cakes were excellent. If you're on a stricter budget just get those items. Skip the legs if you must. Red King Crab was the only king crab they had, as the golden king was out for the season. The single crab leg for $100 just isn't worth it. I've had the same/similar outside of Alaska. The golden king crab was sold out for the season so we got to only try the red king crab. It would have been nice to try both for comparison. It is counter service. There are tables available indoor and outdoors. The service was quick and everyone was friendly! The red king crab was good, but nothing extraordinary. The crab bisque was my favorite! It was perfect about of creamy and seasoned very well. The mini crab cakes were pretty good too. It was pretty expensive meal for what you get. Lucky (or unlucky?) for me, it was pouring the day my cruise stopped in Juneau. A ton of people on my excursion stayed on the bus to head back to the ship because they were tired and wet - and I think that was precisely why there was such a short line at Tracy's ~7pm. I barely had time to look at the menu before I was at the register! I ordered the combo #1 red king ($104 in Sept 2026) which came with one leg, a bisque, some rolls and 4 crab cakes, and an Alaskan kolsch. Crab cakes were fine and a little dry (provided sauce was... ok) and bisque was not really to my taste. Personally, I don't often order crab often and I don't think I've ever had this type of crab, so cracking it open was an experience!! The spikes on the shell kind of hurt but I used the butcher paper as a barrier. A couple near me asked one of the waitresses on how to use the provided tool, and I eavesdropped and then was able to use it too (so don't hesitate to ask if you need help!) Once I figured out the tool, eating it was easy and the meat slid right out. My main criticism is with the price. To be fair, I only have the two experiences of having crab in Alaska, but I preferred my other experience (not in Juneau) where there was very clear pricing by weight. I didn't see anything on Tracy's King Crab Shack menu about the weight of each leg, which leaves the possibility that you're paying premium prices for an inconsistent amount. Was it worth the hyped? Was it worth it for the price? Those were the questions that I have coming to Tracy's. After watching many videos about this place, the hype is real. Just like everyone else, we came here after the cruise docked, we were amount the first one to get off the ship and were able to get here right the way without much wait. As we sitting down for our food the line grew much longer. There is also a second location that has less wait. We ordered the Red King Crab that's feeds 6-8 people, if you like crab it will feed like 4 lol, the crab tasted sweet and fresh. Also bisque tasted amazing. But this place is expensive, we paid almost $800 for it. Is it worth it? I will say if you are the first time in Alaska you should try it. Will I do it again? Yes if we have the budget to, but I will ordered the small amount and other things. We have a large group that is why is so much more expensive. I have a great experience at this restaurant, the service from the staff is excellent and they really know what they are doing. In town on a cruise and after our excursion, we decided to stop at Tracy's King Crab Shack for lunch--and we're glad we did! We ordered (2) Combo #1 ($104/ea), which included one Red King Crab leg, crab bisque, four crab cakes, and a roll with butter. Drinks are extra. Be prepared for a wait! The line was extremely long, stretching all the way toward the visitor center. It took us about 30 minutes to reach the counter and order. There was plenty of staff working, though, and everything moved along pretty smoothly. One fun touch: when you order, they ask for your name and where you're from. When your food is ready, they call out your name and city/state or country while looking for where you're seated. It was pretty cool hearing where everyone was visiting from. The inside has a fun fishing village atmosphere with plenty of seating, although most of the tables are shared. The staff was friendly and did a great job cleaning tables immediately after people finished, keeping things moving. Now for the food, it was amazing! Some of the best crab we've ever eaten. The King Crab was fantastic, the bisque was rich and flavorful with big chunks of crab throughout, and the crab cakes were delicious as well. Just know going in that it's expensive. Two Combo #1s, one soda, and tip came to $230.36. It's definitely a splurge, but when you're visiting Alaska and want some incredible King Crab, this is the place to do it. The M&M tour bus operator let us off a bit early for those of us who wanted to try the famous/popular restaurant called Tracy's King Crab Shack. So we promptly got in line to wait as they were quite busy. Approximately 45 mins later, we were able to put in our food order at the front counter. We should have been given a 2.5% cash discount per their menu but weren't. Then, we had to find our own table to sit at. Even though it was drizzling a bit, we sat at an outside table because all of the interior tables were occupied. Luckily, the rain stopped shortly after we found a clean-ish table next to a heater. Wait staff brought our food to our table after a short wait. We ordered the #1 Combo Golden King Crab (14 oz) (which came with a small crab bisque, 4 mini crab cakes, garlic bread rolls, and butter), 1 lb of Red King Crab, Pulled Pork Sliders, and a glass of Alaskan Brewing Company Summer (Kolsch beer). While both types crab were tasty, I really couldn't decide whether one was better than the other. The crab bisque was rich and flavorful; the rolls were soft and tender and went well with the bisque. The crab cakes were also good - nothing outstanding though. And, the glass of beer was super cold and very refreshing! I'm glad we tried Tracy's King Crab Shack despite it being a tourist spot and expensive. Tons of merchandise for sale were plastered all over their walls. The absolute best crab legs I've ever had and nothing comes close! I got a red king crab leg combo that of course comes with 1 king crab leg, crab bisque, mini crab cakes and rolls. Also added a cluster of snow crab legs that were almost as big as the king crab. I have never really gotten full from seafood until eating here! With the king crab, it was very juicy and the meat was buttery and sweeter almost reminding me of a lobster. The snow crab was sweet as well, definitely easier to crack too but honestly the work is worth it haha. The sides also deserve love, I'm not a huge fan of crab cakes but these were the best I've ever had and definitely set the bar (highly recommend buying a bottle of the crab cake sauce) The bisque was good as well, not as sweet as a lobster bisque but still good especially when dipping the roll in it, lots of crab meat inside. The spacing inside is pretty limited, at least on a busy day. Service was nice, they were friendly and bring your order to the table, food came out fast. As you probably already know this place is definitely expensive but it is 100% worth every penny you spend. read more

Tried the second location about 10 minute walk from main location on the doc. They have a much larger seating area with heaters inside and large tables to sit at than they do at the location on the pier. Which makes the line go faster. The service has always been great. We tried their special fresh caught crab (1/2 a crab) for $99. Also had to get the beer battered shrimp and bisque soup. They let us try the beers they have in tap to decide which we wanted to try! Tracy's Crab Shack in Juneau, Alaska a must-stop for seafood lovers! Awesome place in Juneau! I had to check it out, even though my mom wasn't quite ready for lunch yet. Tracy's is famous for its Alaskan king crab, snow crab, crab cakes, and fresh seafood, making it a popular stop for visitors and cruise travelers. I ordered the already cracked king crab and snow crab ($50) and also tried the crab cakes and fried shrimp. Everything was hot and fresh, and the crab was definitely the highlight! My only small complaints were that the butter and lemon weren't included with my order at first, and the roll was a little stale, but the staff was very nice when I went back to grab them. Our travel agent recommended Tracy's. I love crab so we decided to try it. It is located right next to the cruise docks. We had to wait in line about 30 minutes to place our order. They have their system down to a science. Once we ordered we found seats right away. The food came out quickly considering how long it took to place the order. We both had the combination plates. They included crab bisque, crabcakes, a roll and crab legs. I chose the golden king crab, and my husband chose the snow crab. I like the king crab better than the snow crab. Although the serving size was not as large, the crab meat was more firm and flavorful. I grew up eating Dungeness crab in the San Francisco area so I have high expectations. I felt the golden king crab was as tasty. The crab bisque had a nice flavor. It was creamy and had chunks of crab in it. The crab cakes were ok. The sauce that accompanies them helped their flavor. First of all let me just say WOW. Do not let the prices deter you from visiting this restaurant. Besides the king crab, there are lower cost options that are phenomenal. Our table ordered one pound of the king crab special that also came with a claw. It was AMAZING. They gave you these great crab cutters that they also let you take home with you. Our waitress was on point when she washed them and brought them back to us. SUPERB service. We also ordered crab bisque, crab sliders, and fried shrimp. The bisque was DELICIOUS. It rivaled the lobster bisque I enjoy on the coast of Maine.... Dare I say even better. The shrimp was fried perfectly and the coleslaw on the crab sliders was SO GOOD. The ambiance is cool. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you and announce the state you live in. It was fun hearing from where everyone was visiting from. The hype is real! I can definitely see why this place is so popular. The biggest thing that impressed me was how incredibly fast and efficient the service was. Even if the line looks long, don't let that scare you away--you'll get your food surprisingly quickly. One thing to keep in mind: the Golden Crab comes with only one piece of crab, so I always go with the Snow Crab instead. You get about five legs, which makes it a much better value in my opinion. Visiting Alaska from Las Vegas via NCL cruise. It was a " must" to stop by at Tracy's that everyone is talking about. This time we were able to port at Juneau on time and was able to get off and go to Tracy's Crab Shack. We lined up around 9am and the places open at 9:30 even though the sign said 10am. The line moved quick and we were able to get a seat inside. We went with the red and golden crab to see what the difference was besides the price! The red crab was definitely better in terms of taste. The price is ridiculous as the red crab was $90 for a leg and the golden crab was $65 per leg. Since we were here, we had to eat it though. We also got a cup of the crab bisque. It was good and what made it better was putting more crab into it! The bread was realistically just a Hawaiian roll with a little garlic butter.
