I arrived at the Northside Table this afternoon and boy was it a pleasant surprise. I was immediately seated at a table by the waiter both the waiter and the waitress there are absolutely outstanding. The customer service was definitely a AAA+++. My meal was outstanding I had their buttermilk fried chicken it's a must have for anyone coming to Juneau. The atmosphere was laid back. I must say it was a great experience. I can not say enough good things! I had an overnight in Juneau due to weather and walked from my hotel. I could not decide what to have because quite a few things caught my eye, Smothered Pork Chops, Jambalaya, Shrimp and cheese grits, I asked other customers what they were eating, everyone was loving their food. The special was Catfish and fried okra, which also looked really good (saw that plate come out after I had ordered my meal and was almost regretting my choice. I decided on the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with a side of smoked turkey collard greens and baked mac & cheese. This chicken is amazing. This meal was amazing. The chicken is fried fresh to order and it is stated on the menu, my wait was about 20 minutes, fair for fried chicken. Lets start with it was perfection, cripsy and has the little dredge criespies. It was not greasy, so tender, moist and that crust was so flavorful. Best I have ever had. On to the collards. They use of a smoked turkey is fantastic, lots of turkey in the greens, cooked perfectly, not mushy, a little spicy and a quite a bit of sop...which I dipped my fried chicken in because I did not want miss out on the sop....my chicken still was crisp even after a sop dip. The mac & cheese had a crisp top, it was moist and really flavorful and had that wonderful cheese pull, this is the kind of mac & cheese you wish your mom made....no velveeta here. Huge portions of food. The owner Jocelyn Miles was a delight, checked on every table to make sure everything as it should be. She explained she had a rough opening 5 months ago with slow kitchen staff but has since made changes so food comes out quickly. There is karaoke and i was privy to hearing her sing and another patron who had ordered to go. I also had a vodka cranberry with dinner and the prices for her cocktails are very reasonable. I would suggest if you have a few hours or live in Juneau this needs to be on your dining schedule. I saw they had doordash pick up so if you don't drive, it is a great option. I am secretly hoping my flight tomorrow gets delayed so I can eat there again! Post review: I was on such a fried chicken high, I forgot my left over chicken but since I had messaged via FB they held it for me. Only reason why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is because at least the pankcakes were good. If you have a lot of time to wait, a full battery on your phone and you love pancakes, this is your place. After seeing a post on Facebook about staff turnover and promised new attention to detail we decided to give it a try. Friends had warned us to stay away before. Should have listened.... There was a couple being shown their table when we walked in, there was a table finished and receiving their bill and then us. We were seated and once our order was taken, we sat, sat and waited, and waited. The couple seated before us got the 2 hotdogs and plate of fries. This took about 20 min for them to get their food. 12 min later we got our food. We ordered pancakes, side order of biscuit and gravy, and a burger. We waited 32 min for pancakes, biscuits and gravy and a burger. I would hate to see a busy lunch hour, hope you have 2 hours for a lunch break. I assume the biscuit and gravy was plated when we placed our order because once it arrived it was cold. The gravy was brownish, I think it had old bay in it. It had a very weird taste. The sausage chunks, well I thought sausage but it was not sausage. Not sure what it was but couldn't identify the taste/texture. The biscuit might have been ok if it was at least warm but being so cold, I just couldn't get past the first bite. Pancakes were huge and 3 of them. They were as big around as the plate. They were the highlight of the meal. Tasted very good, fluffy. The burger was a very thick patty but it reminded me of my military days. They must of bought the extra large bottle of "bland" spice. The burger had zero taste. No salt, pepper, so spices, just a thick patty thrown on the grill. There was also no condiments on the burger. It was dry. I asked for ketchup and mayo. I was given an industrial size bottle of Ketchup, apparently one needs a gallon of ketchup for their table. For the mayo, I was given 2 packages of mayo like from the hotdog stand in the gas station. Overall, I would say regardless of the FaceBook post, not much has changed. It's pretty sad when pancakes beer the best part of the meal. The price is also overpriced. 50$ for pancakes, side of biscuit and gravy, and a burger, that's even extremely expensive by Juneau standards. read more

Thus is a nice diner to go eat breakfast. The employees are nice and friendly. They have a good menu so you will have plenty to pick from. We were really hungry so we got steak and eggs. The potatoes were cut in small chunks and fried and they were nice and crispy. My steak on the other hand was overdone but had good flavor. I would suggest to order a cooked level lower than normal. I didn't say anything but I'm sure they would have given me a different steak. It's a nice atmosphere and we would return. read more

I have been going to this place numerous times a week. I can not get enough of their red beans and rice.

We came here after the catastrophe next door at the Valley *hithole. They were very welcoming and kind. They had many options available. We opted for the basics, view pics. The food was just ok, probably a 3, but the service was a 4 so I pushed it up. If you're looking for a decent meal with good service this is a good place. read more

I've been twice so far. I know this place could be reallly good. A gem in Juneau. They need quality control. The first time I got the collard greens they were served cold. The second time they were unpalatably salty. And I enjoy salty food. The wait time on the order was not accurately communicated to me. 10-15 minutes became 37 minutes. The flavors are spot on, but the execution needs work. I'm looking forward to coming back again to try it! read more

Good service, interesting menu, tasty food. We learned some breakfast selections are available all day-yay! Only place we have found here for chicken and waffles so get your fix. The chili dogs were unexpectedly yummy and the smoked salmom chowder was pretty good. We weren't fans of the cast iron cornbread, unfortunately. Menu prices have come down a bit since what we saw debut online and the portions are generous. We will be back. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Service was sub par, some of the worst I've had in my 50 some years. Food? Well, there is so much I could say but I won't, other than it's is some of the worst breakfast food I've had. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

All 4 of us enjoyed our food and plan on coming back. Best southern food in Juneau. Try the cornbread and the grits were great too.

We arrived at 9:45 AM to this establishment with only a couple other tables taken. We were given menus and our waitress walked away without even asking if we wanted water or any beverage. 5-10 minutes later beverages were served. Meanwhile, other patrons started coming in and we were sitting there with the menus laid down, waiting for our order to be taken. Our order was finally taken around the same time other patrons that came in after us were taken. While waiting for our food, we watched every other order come out to the other tables while we waited another 10-15 minutes for our order to come out. Our order finally came out. Scrambled eggs were undercooked(very wet), pancakes were cooked yet somehow doughy in the middle, biscuits were very dry and almost crackers, fries were undercooked. Obviously everything came from a food distribution company so the quality isn't good but the cooking was horrible. Also we sat there with empty beverage cups while we watched our waitress play on her phone at the bar. I had to ask for refills until towards the end of our meal and by then it was a little too late. I honestly don't know how this establishment got such a high rating. Also not sure who's managing this place or who owns it and how much involvement there is with management and ownership, but I will definitely not be returning to this restaurant. If the management and ownership was smart, they would be present, do quality checks on food and staff. read more
