This place is amazing!! People are wonderful and food is off the hook. I didn't like coming to Juneau for work. Mostly hotels but more so food. Everything has been average at best the times I came and mostly overpriced under portioned. These folks got it right. Tasty well done Italian at prices that make sense and portioned to fill you up and then some. Meatballs are off the hook and meat lasagna is a must ! Well done Roma. I'll be back! read more

The comfortable upscale vibe combined with a creative take on Italian food pair excellently at Roma. The food was excellent, made with wholesome ingredients, with both classic Italian comfort foods and creative new inventions. There were vegetarian and gluten free options available, although the chicken manicotti was a must-get for meat eaters. Great service made Roma a place I will absolutely come back to! read more

Best food ESPECIALLY for the price. My husband and I went in thinking it was going to be expensive because the atmosphere gives that vibe. However, we ordered a pizza, meatballs, chicken manicotti and I had a drink. We shared everything and took home leftovers. We spent less than $80. The service was pretty good. We waited quite some time in between each need but I think it was busier than usual. read more

While the special was "hal-i-butt" as the foreign servers said, I ordered lasagna which was fine although appeared to be assembled in the broiler with the heat still steaming off. Food deliver was "auction style" and misdirected consistenly to my large group. Our servers appeared to be wearing sweat pants- a classy addition to the meal. Me pointing out a few things to bartender was met with indifference. read more

The service and the food was great. The Roma Lasagna and the Manicotti stuffed with chicken was sooooooo good I highly recommend those. Nice atmosphere with low key dinner music. read more

Food is delicious. Tends to be more pricey. Definitely a place to try if you don't want all seafood options or a tourist stop. Quiet. Reserved vibe. read more

this is a cozy, dark, and romantic place to have dinner in downtown juneau. bf and i were enticed when we were walking in the building and saw 2 giant trays of lasagna through the big window into the kitchen. we went back for dinner the next night and it was definitely the right choice! you MUST GET the meatball ricotta dish!!! they're so yummy and taste like sausages and also comes with little pizza crust slices and spinach. i ordered a jamaican pizza and it was yummy! bf ordered the lasagna and it was basically the meatball dish but with less meat and more pasta. their marinara sauce was super delicious too! they have bar seating and tables, and the service was alright as the restaurant got busy during dinner hours. this is a great place for some italian food if you're ever in downtown juneau! read more

Cool atmosphere but some of the worst pizza I've ever had. Terrible mass produced crust and even though it had many toppings it was bland.

Dishes were exquisite, thoughtful, and well priced. Signature cocktails were like a spin on a Manhattan that I want to remake at home! Service was prompt, kind, and supported bringing our three kids to dine which we don't find everywhere. Ambiance was lovely. Medium lighting, soft music, stunning bar. Kitchen visible and much made in house. We enjoyed the stuffed tomatoes au gratin, meat lasagna, cheese pizza, and white chocolate bread pudding. Loved everything. read more

The "lasagna " was just old meatballs with a bit of pasta with a ton of supermarket cheese on top. Went for my 50th bday dinner. It absolutely sucked. But the folks at the bar were having fun. read more

Went to enjoy a date night and the service and food were average. Salad was good, my wife said crab gnocchi was okay and my lasagna wasn't fully cooked, it was cold in the middle and cheese wasn't melted. At the end of the night they tried to overcharge us for the gnocchi, good thing we checked the receipt and menu. They charged us, $25.99, when the menu said 19.99. We brought it up with the server and they corrected the price giving a bad excuse. Watch out for shady practices on your receipt. read more

We came to ROMA right after they revamped their menu. It used to be a place where they just served pizzas according to what the locals told us. Now they offer more fancier Italian dishes. They haven't done away with the pizzas but they offer more elegant food options than what they used to have from what we heard. We were in The Wharf a couple of different times and I saw their menu in which their stuffed dates caught my eye. After seeing that we made a commitment to have a meal here during our trip. Of course we ordered the dates first thing and loved them! Goat cheese was involved with them being stuffed which was a great experience! My favorite from everything we ordered. We shared two other plates, Steve and I and enjoyed those menu items as well! The Cacio e Pepe which was fantastic! It was spaghetti pasta, pecorino and black pepper. The black pepper really made this dish pop! Our other plate was the Spinacio which contained baby spinach, green apples, toasted pine nuts, gorginzola and raspberry vinegarette. Another fantastic dish! We would so come back and maybe go the more casual route and try their pizzas but I'm not so sure that I couldn't pry myself away from placing an order for those stuffed dates! read more

Super cute place with modern furniture and lighting and delicious smells for days. The menu is full of great ideas...unfortunately pretty poor execution. The Italian margarita was fantastic - great ratio of amaretto - strong but not too sweet. The sangria and aperol spritz were a bit on the weak side. The crab gnocchi had some small chunks of snow crab but the pesto was super salty and overwhelming and the gnocchi was definitely pre-made. The stuffed dates were drowned in orange marmalade that was so overwhelming and sweet and the stuffed funghi was missing the sausage? The pizza was made on pre-made crust that was cracker crunchy while the toppings were raw and cheese was barely melted. Service was moderately acceptable. The server was nice but definitely splitting his attention too much. Passed in desert because those are store bought too. Roma has so much potential! I'd love to see them step it up a little :) read more

This was our first time here since it changed hands years ago and we were pleased with the food and service. Very good Italian food, large portions, fair prices. I Love their Roma salad and my husband enjoyed the lasagna. We will be back to try the pizza and more entrees. read more

Roma is a smaller sized restaurant located downtown. The look and feel is compact and stylish. Starting with the small plates, portioning is perfect for two people to share. I would recommend trying out a few of the available options. The flavors were amazing and presentation was spot on. Our pasta entrees however were just mediocre. After the enjoyment of the small plates, I guess I expected something exemplary. I didn't find that. The gnocchi I ordered was dry. It seemed as if it sat for few minutes before being brought out. Although it did taste good, it was a little dried out. Service was slightly slow, but I do believe it was at no fault to the servers. The two servers were tending to the bar and multiple table on two floors. I'd be more inclined to say it was management not staffing accordingly on a Sunday afternoon with decent weather and a holiday. The servers were polite and very knowledgeable of the menu, as well as they made some good recommendations with the small plates. I would return on special occasions for dinner or when taking someone out. The drinks were well made and the atmosphere is very comfortable for a nice night out. read more

We had high hopes and looking for pizza for the family. The pros Great small plates. Meatballs were wonderful Gluten free pizza and sauce were great. Manager was kind and helpful. The cons. Our particular waiter was not great. Granted there were simple mistakes in the kitchen (mushrooms on a veggie asked to be held and my 10 yo's pizza not delivered until after dinner) but his unapologetic style did not help The pizza crust is bland. read more

My dad and I shared a shrimp appetizer, and two pasta dishes. I had the Gnochi, and he had the Bistro dish. All dishes were absolutely delicious as well as our gin cocktail. My dad isn't really a dining out kind of guy and we were both severely underdressed for this place, but we both had a great experience here. The atmosphere was welcoming, Kate the server was super nice and was really fast. Everything tasted fresh and it came out quick. My dad told Kate that this was the best meal he's had in Alaska, which I personally think is a little over the top, but he really loved everything and we both left full. When we looked at the portion sizes (the appetizer was two prawns served on two polenta patties, they were AMAZING, and entree's were two modest portions of pasta), I thought that there was no way that we were going to come away full. But we both did, and we're both larger people. I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars because I think the food genuinely made my papa happy. read more

This restaurant came highly suggested from the locals in town so I decided to give it a try. Cute space with a fun hip feel in an overall kind of vintage town. The food was spectacular! I got the butternut squash ravioli and the meatball sandwich. The restaurant wasn't too busy but the food came out hot and fresh and the server was very attentive. The server was very knowledgeable and also great at giving suggestions for menu items which is always a plus. The only let down of the meal was the dessert. I got the rhubarb tiramisu which was unfortunately dry and tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge too long. The server though was great and could tell I didn't enjoy it and apologized. All in all would absolutely suggest going for the food just skip the dessert! read more

Happy with the changes to this restaurant. Look forward to returning to try something else on the menu.

Nice atmosphere. Very busy on a Wednesday evening. Food was a bit slow to arrive. House salad was delicious. My giant meatball was lukewarm and just ok. Never received the 2nd glass of wine I ordered; no problem having it taken off the bill; it just took a bit of time to wave someone down. All the restaurants in Juneau are struggling with staffing. read more

We were very disappointed. We ate there last summer on our trip home and loved it. This time the wait was lengthy, the wait staff were very nice, but the food was disappointing. None of the entrees come with what you would expect; some garlic bread and at least a side salad. The tortellini was okay, but very bland. I ordered bread and it was so hard I had to soak it in my sauce to make it even slightly edible. And it was tasteless. My husband got the Marguerite pizza. It was not bad, but not great. The cocktails were not good. Do NOT order the Italian Margarita, very sour, very unpleasant. Overall not a great dining experience. Doubtful we will make that mistake again. read more

I'm not sure where to start here; I've walked by this place a dozen times and eventually ended up inside. The pizza was amazing, and served the traditional european style. The cocktails are otherworldly; I tried three different of their homemade cocktails, and each was more amazing than the last. I highly recommend Roma to everyone, and cannot speak highly enough of both the service and the experience. I cannot wait to come back again! read more

Best pizza and small plates in town, plus delicious craft cocktails! Their lunch special is such a great deal for Juneau!!! The remodel is beautiful and the selection of Italian wine is great. The Sangiovese pairs great with their lasagne. And the crab gnocchi and lamb osso bucco was a delicious surprise in the small food scene here. Highly recommended! read more

Some of the previous reviews made me question this restaurant but I'm very glad we went! The restaurant is small and has a nice atmosphere. Fantastic cocktails and beer. Our food was absolutely delicious. I had a pizza and my wife hard the carb gnocchi. It had a lot of crab and she was very happy. My pizza was perfect. The food took a few extra minutes due to a couple large groups and many take out orders. We didn't have any issues with an extra few minutes but our waiter gave us a slice of cheesecake for desert which surprised us but grateful he did, wow!!! read more

The remodel has definitely changed the atmosphere; nice professional environment good for a couples night out, or for a pleasant business mtg. It is NOT where I would bring my kids (anymore) - w/ Pizzeria Roma the kids we're fine; w/ Roma Bistro the menu is a bit more refined (harder to please selective eaters) and the other diners are less likely to enjoy your kids antics. Enjoyed the old menu; developing a taste for the new menu. read more

While in port on our Alaskan cruise, I was on the hunt for a slice of pizza and a cold beer. Pizzeria Roma fit the bill and was an easy ten minute walk along the water to reach it. Just after noon and with several cruise ships docked, I walked right in ordered, sat down and was served in no time. It wasn't like pizza back home but way better than what was offered onboard. The draft beer was super cold and hit the spot as the sun surprised everyone outside and heated up the day. Service was excellent and friendly. read more

If you're only visiting Juneau for a meal or two, this is an okay place to skip. But if you're here for longer, or live in Juneau - this is a great spot for an bite. The first thing about this place is the fantastic smell that fills the corridor. Its amazing pizzeria yumminess fills the entire wharf building. The salads are good - I had a great spinach salad with pine nuts, green apples, and dried cranberries. The personal pizzas are big enough to share and tasty. Fresh chopped garlic on top after cooking. Average service, nothing too friendly. Below average decor, but overall a decent place with decent food. read more

I've stopped in a few times in the past few weeks and I highly recommend. Christian took care of us on a few occasions and blew us away with his person-ability and product knowledge. Today we stopped in for cocktails and pizza by the slice and had, yet again, another fantastic visit. Dawn's beverage recommendations paired perfect with our pizza selections and made us feel like part of the family. If you haven't stopped in, or it's been awhile, make a trip down to Roma! Pretty good pizza with generous toppings. If you get the larger sized pie, I hope you have a refrigerator at home, very good, and very filling. The staff seemed kind of indifferent to our patronage however. I know they have to deal with a lot of tourists, but a simple acknowledgement of of our goodbye, thanks, and a wave would may have been nice. read more

Great Italian food. They are still shaking out from reopening, so the service was a little slow.

Here from out of town and ordered food to go. Our spaghetti was swimming in a watery sauce with way over cooked noodles and topped with a thick layer of cheese. The bread that came with it was laying on top and soggy, not toasted and plain. Not good. My slice of pepperoni pizza tasted old and looked like it had been sitting for a while. Our side salads came with no dressing.... yum.... my husbands small 3 meat pizza was good though. Overall bad experience. Around 40-50$ and most is not edible. read more

Terrible. I sat down to order with my 2 kids (waiting for the wife to meet us). We're just about to place our order and in comes my wife with a single bowl of salmon chowder from a local restaurant. The guy who was about to take our order immediately says that no outside food is allowed. We tell him we're about to order and yet he still stands by with his staunch policy. We decided to pick up and leave and had lunch elsewhere that doesn't care about "outside food". read more

What an awesome place! I sat at the bar and felt very warm and welcomed. Great conversation, one of the best pizzas that I've had in a long time, not to mention the professional "happy" good time that even the staff were experiencing! These folks at Roma's have it! Thank you team! read more

The best, and worst pizza place. The service is sub parr, and they changed their menu while ago, but have yet to update the website site. Sometimes the pizza is awesome, the Roma Garden was really good. However, as they updated the menu internally, and not on the web site we did not know to order it with out the olives. This pizza was riddled with them, and picking them off became an excavation game. I've also had a chicken with white sauce that was nasty. The chicken was I think thys that they pre cook, froze and thawed in a microwave. It had this re-heated chewy plastic taste. Ick! The pizzas themselves are pricy, but the lunch special is fairly priced. read more

Love the remodel! I had the roasted beets (MUST figure out how to make -- SO GOOD) and the butternut ravioli. It was more than I could eat. And DELISH! This will be a regular! read more

Not going back. I wish I knew how to post a picture of the pizza so you could see it. It was supposed to be a crunchy crust pizza but the dough could have been cooked more thoroughly. Sauce and ingredients only covered the center of the pizza with an inch or more of plain crust--with nothing on it on the edges. Not fully cooked. They only had three customers sitting down that I could see and they did not seem swamped with orders, so I do not understand why the service wad so poor. I keep seeing good reviews but out of the last four times, I have been disappointed three. Not going back. read more

Food poisoning, contaminated pizza, harsh raw garlic, loud environment, and terrible service! The place was very loud early on a Friday evening, even after the band of kids left the upstairs area. Server was initially very friendly. Garlic focaccia arrived and was molten hot but we had no plates or flatware. We waited for the server and a few minutes later she finally brought us what we needed. Unfortunately one of the plates was filthy and we sent it back. She was abrupt about it and when she returned with a new plate a few minutes later (while the food was getting cold) she said, "Sorry, it's dark back there." The garlic was RAW not roasted and the appetizer was smothered in what appeared to be fake cheese that hardened almost instantly out of the oven. The marinara was fresh but again loaded with raw garlic and was harsh. The primavera pizza with canadian bacon we ordered tasted OK on the first bite then suffered from the same bad cheese thereafter and they were incredibly stingy with the marinara and toppings. If they just added more fresh vegetables like zuccini, this would be a real vegetable pizza and might have had a fresh flavor to it. The crust was more like an undercooked cracker and it was far too blond and tasteless. On the first slice we found a weird piece of plastic (pictured). We waited for the server to return to check on us and when she failed after 5 minutes of us trying to get her attention we went up and showed them. Their response? Excuses about shift changes and "what do you want us to do about it?" They took the slice and plate and disappeared into the kitchen. We waited for another 5 minutes and saw lots of ticked off looks from the cooks and staff but no one ever came to explain or apologize. We finally went back up to ask for another plate. We picked through the rest of the pizza but didn't find anything else. Our server only returned with the check 20 minutes later. She never refilled our drinks and $2 for seltzer in an 8oz cup LOADED with ice is ridiculous. They took half off the pizza. We asked her what they thought the blue plastic was and she said, "maybe crayon"! Or "maybe something off the bottom of the pizza thing". We gave her $1 tip and paid the bill, leaving the rest of the pizza. Both of us had food poisoning that night and next morning. read more
