A friend and I stopped in here on our vacation to Alaska. His wife lived in Peru for a long time and he is very knowledgeable about South America and Peruvian food. We started with the empanadas which were phenomenal. We each got a main course, which were OK. The portions were amazing, but the flavor wasn't as good as we had experienced in other Peruvian restaurants. To be fair this business is operating out of a small shed in Alaska. did not expect to find Peruvian cusine in juneau! came here for a meal on a recent visit and pleasantly suprised. stuff tried: bacon empanada covered in cheese sauce. the owner boasted that the cook whipped up this recipe on a whim to compete in the Juneau baconfest food competition. it won! now i can see why! yummy bacon, thin skinned dough and cheese sauce over it. i would eat this always stewed pork with rice: may not look pretty but it has that nice deep flavor you only get with slow braising. yummy for sure pork sandwich: bring your appetite for this one. large sandwich with big pork shoulder chunks! its a gut buster! the peruvian style empanadas are definitely something to try. the empanadas seem to have a thinner less doughy exterior than empanadas from other parts of south/central america. try it! read more

Juneau 5 stars for pretty solid lomo saltado. I've had this dish many many times and many different Peruvian restaurants. Steak was tender and flavorful. Rice cooked well. Fries nice and crispy. Mix it all together and top with spicy green sauce. Yum! This dish usually has more "gravy" that soaks into the rice and fries which makes it so much better - that's the only improvement I can think of. More gravy! If you've never had this imagine a steak stir-fry with rice and fries. Empanadas looked great too but I didn't try any. Other tables around me all had empty plates so must be pretty decent. read more

I had the lomo Saltado there and it did not look traditional since the fries were not mixed with the meat. Reason is that they don't mix it because people who are not used to Peruvian food don't like it mixed. As a Peruvian I felt the meal was delicious. The rice was seasoned traditionally with garlic (like my momma makes!) Super tasty and I got to meet the cook and owner. She is from Ayacucho and knows all the popular dishes. If you would like something specially made you can call her ahead of time. Also, we tried the bacon empanadas and they were tasty! They also have a menu for those picky eaters. We've been here twice now for lunch. It was not busy at all, which surprised me, because the service is awesome and the cuisine is unique (to me, at least) and delectable. So, if you are reading this - EAT HERE. You won't be disappointed. True to its title, there are four plates of Peruvian food. Simple, rustic, yet perfectly prepared. There are also salads and a burger, for those of you who aren't ready to venture into international delights (please do, I promise, it's very approachable). You get a small bowl of Peruvian popcorn. I don't know how to explain it, but it's addictive! I had the Asian salad the first time, because I had a long afternoon and needed something light. The second time, I had beef with onions, tomatoes, peppers, rice, and fries (sounds odd to pair fries, but hey, I like unique). My husband has had both the pork with potatoes and rice and beef with green spaghetti. The sauces are complex and make your tongue sing. They also serve a slightly spicy verde sauce (green), maybe like chimicurri. Seriously, try this place! read more

We tasted two Peruvian empanadas $4.99 each: ground beef, hard boiled eggs, olives; the other bacon & cheese which won an award from Juneau BaconFest 2017. The fillings on both were tasty, the crust doughy instead of crumbly & flaky that I would prefer. Tasted their entrees:. 1 estofado de pollo chicken stew with potatoes and rice $13.99; 2 seco de frijoles pork with beans and rice $14.99. Both we're tasty, but too much rice. We ended up taking home the leftovers and no room to try their desserts. Suggest splitting an entree to share. Worth coming back. Closed between 1400-1700 hours. read more

Very good food, prompt polite service, extremely reasonable prices. Small and family owned, just the kind of place we like. The empanadas were delicious, I can't remember the names of the dishes that my husband and I had because they were specials that our server told us about. But we were both pleased. The coconut flan was excellent. Four plates is a little hard to see from the road-it's in the Frontier Suites near the airport. This was much better food and service than what we had at one of the popular seafood restaurants near the cruise ship dock. And at about half the price. You should give it a try! read more

A group of us stopped in for dinner before catching a flight, with hopes of a meal better than what was available in the airport. I had the Tallarin salteado, steak with fries. With anticipation of a tasty Peruvian dish, I was sadly very disappointed. The meat was poor quality and extremely tough. It seemed that it had been boiled with the canned strewed tomatoes that came with it. There was a load of unseasoned white rice and a pile of over salted, frozen French fries. It was aweful. $16 for a meal with no effort put in at all. Will never be back. read more

ICK- I went in for lunch and I can honestly say I won't go back. I got the chicken stew, I've had this dish before at a place in FL and it was fabulous. This place, not so much. This is a small family run restaurant offering fresh, authentic Peruvian fare. They have an amazing homemade huacatay green salsa that is mildly spicy, and similar to a cilantro based salsa. Huacatay is commonly know as black mint. The empanadas have a crust that is thin, slightly sweet, flaky covering a flavorful filling. This restaurant is awesome. Delicious food - definitely ask for the bacon empanadas, even if they're not on the menu. I learned about this restaurant from my sister (a local) who raved about the bacon empanadas (first place in Juneau's bacon fest, 2018). The service was excellent - attentive but not overbearing. The specials were delicious and the alcohol selection was expansive. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. Even though there are few menu choices, they are all freshly home-made and delicious. One caveat - not a good choice for kids who are picky eaters. No chicken fingers with ranch dressing here! read more
