Great food, large portions, a tad pricey. Confusing decor. Friendly staff. Quick service. I would definitely return.

I have to agree with everyone else: this restaurant is extremely unassuming and extremely good. It's located in a strip mall near the airport. If you are a tourist in downtown Juneau...it's so good you should take a special trip up here! It is very hard to describe the genre/style of eatery this is. Best I can do is that it reminds me of some of the more eclectic eateries found in Hawaii. The food is equal parts French bakery (if this place were ONLY a bakery, it would be one of the best places in Juneau), BBQ stand, and Pho slurpery. Sound weird? It does *sound* weird, but it just completely works in person. Everything here is thoughtfully hand made with great attention to detail. Just pick something on the menu you vaguely like and you will be blown away. I got some baked goods for a hike one day, a breakfast burrito another, and some BBQ meat on my third visit. (that's right, I was in Juneau for 4 days and came here 3 times!)

Zerelda's was recommended by a born-and-raised local so had to try it! We looked at the menu online the night before and planned out what we'd order for brunch on a Sunday. The menu had been updated overnight by the time we arrived and the salmon cake benedict (what I planned to order) had been removed :( I asked the lovely woman at the register if it was still available and within minutes several staff members (not sure if management, ownership, etc) had greeted me and explained that the menu was just updated and the Benedict was removed because there wasn't a demand. They also offered to modify several dishes and offered suggestions to try to accommodate my diet. It's apparent that these women really care about their business and their customers. We tried the burrito deconstructed into a bowl and it was HUGE and delicious! We also tried the quiche - a bit on the salty side and also very generous portion with a super fresh salad. The chai latte was watered down and the house coffee a bit burnt tasting. We wanted to try so many things from the pastry cabinet but decided to behave they even have a massive GF cookie! Loved the care behind this establishment.

Had an amazing lunch at Zelda's Bistro! We tried the soup of the day -- meatball soup -- and the lunch special, pulled pork tacos. Both were absolutely delicious! The service was friendly and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere made the experience even better. Everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic, and they have a great selection of pastries, too. Definitely a spot worth checking out!

I LOVE the food here. I don't live in Juneau but this is one of my "must eat" spots when I go. Locals often recommend it. Every thing is delicious and the desserts /pastries are to notch. The service is great except for one counter employee who always seems unhappy and short on patience but every one else seems genuinely happy to see you. I love this place.

Came in for lunch today. The place is a nice cozy little bistro. The place does get busy, there is limited seating inside and out. Staff is very friendly. Had the pulled pork burrito and special sweet potato with ginger bisque. The salsa was very good as well as the burrito As with everything here, it's pricey but it's a good place to come.

Great food and customer service! Top 3 restaurants in Juneau. The pickles used to be fried.

What a great little find in Juneau! This was my first time getting to explore the town, and I'm happy that my indecisive mind was finally able to settle on Zerelda's. I called my order in and the employee was funny, a little quirky and had a cool energy about her. I was quoted about 10 minutes for my Pork Katsu Sandwich and Garlic Fries, and was on my way to the location. When I arrived, the atmosphere was very relaxed and the restaurant was quite clean. They offered a nice seating area, and if I weren't wanting to just head back and relax in my hotel room, I would've been happy to eat there. The glass case of extra meals and desserts were so well presented and made me want to order everything!! I decided to add a side of the Kimbap Rolls to my order, and headed back to my hotel with both items. The meal smelled amazing and I could wait to dig in! The fried were cooked great, and the garlic parmesan topping was delicious. The Pork Katsu marinade had a great tangy taste (which actually doubled well as a little dipping sauce for the fries!), and the patty was hearty and flavorful. I loved the addition of pickled onions, fresh cucumbers, and the aioli they added was the icing on an already great sandwich. The Kimbap Rolls did not disappoint! Loved the taste of the seaweed and carrots inside, and the bite of the dipping sauce that came along with them. As someone that lives in the lower 48, the pricing of the food was a little higher than I'd prefer, but understandable considering the costs involved with getting quality products to the area. Overall, highly recommend this spot!!!

I've had the ramen and the phó here and both were excellent! Quiet, intimate space with plenty of seating inside and outside. You order your meal at the counter and someone brings it out to you, but you bus your own table, which doesn't bother me. I really like this place!

I still think this is one of the best places in town for a real meal not from Costco. The creativity is great and the staff friendly. I do think the two different lines to check out is confusing because you can only order certain foods from one counter then you have to go to the other line to order something different. I had the wings and the dish was great but I believe a dish put together so well to be eaten with a fork should be made with boneless chicken thighs because they retain the moisture but keeps things clean. Wings are a finger food so why eat half your dish with a fork and then the wings by hand. Otherwise perfect.

My favorite was the pinapaitan & dinuguan dish. It's tasty, vinegary & savory. Thumbs up on the turon dessert; sweet, crunchy & satisfyingly hits the spot. Glad to know their business is open even for only 6 months a year (spring-summer) to cater to our Pinoy friends working on the cruise ship and those vacationing in Alaska. Mabuhay!

As we rounded the corner southbound on Marine Way, we saw a cloud of smoke wafting in the wind, and a huge line of people. Would we join it? Of course; the smell was too good to pass up. The line ended up taking about 20 minutes, and soon afterwards we sat down at a nearby picnic table to eat. Combo 1 ($19) - This combo dish comes with two skewers and rice. We went with one of each skewer: Chicken Skewer - Fantastic char on the exterior with blackened almost charcoal-like crunchy bits, but no burnt acridity at all. The skewer is covered with a supremely tasty sweet and savory glaze. The caramelized glaze penetrates every bite of the meat. The chicken is a little dry, but the flavor is phenomenal. (5/5) Pork Skewer - Similar to the chicken, great char, great flavor, but unfortunately the meat on this skewer is a little too far gone in terms of moisture. It's almost like eating a pork jerky given how desiccated the meat is. (4/5) The rice is not good. It's very undercooked with a disturbingly firm texture, making it difficult to eat. The only way we could stomach eating it was liberally pouring condiments on top. Luckily, the truck has a plethora of condiments to choose from. There's white vinegar, spicy apple cider-ish vinegar, and plenty more. Even with all the flavor enhancements, we ended up not finishing the rice. (1/5) We also ended up ordering dessert here: Karioka ($5) - Pretty nice sweet skewer... or at least it would be if it had been fresh. I could tell that the inside used to be bouncy since it seems to be made from glutinous rice flour. It's fried, so there's a doughy chew as well, but it's too far on the firm side, indicating lack of freshness. It does have a good coconut flavor and the outside is nicely sweetened. I think the exterior used to have a crisp sugar shell ala tanghulu, but again it's softened by the passing of time and moisture degrading the dessert. Still, it's tasty enough and nice to eat. (3/5) If I'm ever in Juneau again, I'd visit Carrillo's again, but for the chicken skewers only! I would definitely not get anything containing rice again. Maybe Filipinos like their rice undercooked and hard, but not me!

Is this an indication of faster service? Or is it because the food is worse? We ended up picking a pork skewer to compare. Pork Skewer ($8) - The first piece I ate seemed to be superior to the Carillo's version - still with the sticky sweet savory sauce, but a fattier and juicier piece of meat in the center. Subsequent pieces destroyed my initial impression. This business seems to be using very low quality cuts of meat, filled with fat and gristle, making the meat very difficult to chew and eat. In addition, some pieces of the meat taste old, as if they are close to rotting, kind of a nasty flavor that made me not want to finish the skewer. I guess the only real advantage as that the skewers they serve are larger than that of Carillo's? (2/5) Well, I certainly learned why the blue tent had a longer line... Maybe the chicken skewers and other food served at Bernadette's are better? I'm not sure, but I certainly won't be revisiting.

The menu offers most of your popular items. I spied sisig so I definitely had to get an order of that. I also got an order of lumpia and turon. The sisig was a smallish portion wrapped in foil but it was really delicious. This version tasted different than others I've had at restaurants and there was a definite spicy kick to it. The lumpia and turon were also quite good with a crispy outer shell and plentiful filling. Service was friendly and it took a few minutes for the lumpia and sisig to be ready for us and the turon was premade so we only needed to grab one from the stack on the cart. Since Bernadette's is a food cart, you could say the ambiance is the surrounding port area which is a scenic place to sit off to the side and eat your tasty meal.

I'm in Juneau, Alaska on a long-term work assignment, and due to the limited restaurant options, I've ended up eating at The Hangar on the Wharf several weeks in a row. Every single time, they tack on a 3-5% "convenience" or "service" fee to the bill -- even when sitting at the bar with average service at best. I've asked ownership multiple times to remove these outdated junk fees and simply price the menu honestly instead of sneaking extra charges onto the check. Many states are now passing laws to prohibit businesses from randomly adding surprise fees to customer bills because consumers are tired of deceptive pricing practices. All this does is hurt employees' tip opportunities and frustrate customers. The food and service simply are not good enough to justify hidden surcharges on top of already high prices. Transparent pricing matters.
