When I had to take over my parents house I discovered that I needed a new roof put on the house and…read moreso I called Lyster's because I knew they were the best contractor for the job. They came to the house and worked with me to get the roof done right away . In the end they were able to do the whole roof including replacing some boards as well . They were so easy and great to work with. I got a fantastic price and so I hired them to do the job. I have never regretted hiring them to do the job and they also took the time to completely replace all the gutters too. I recently was told by another company that I was in need of a new roof and probably some boards too. The guy said that I had black mold in my attic as well. The guy was from Top Home Improvements. I had went to the Senior Expo a couple of weeks ago and they had a both there so I signed up to get a quote and roof inspection. I would never ever use that company to do anything on my house ever! The guy outright lied to me and the pictures he said that he showed me indicating that I definitely needed to get my roof replaced and have some other repairs too. In the end I showed everything to the guy from Lysters and he pointed out to me that the first pictures he had taken were of my house but the pictures he showed me of what was supposedly my with damaged shingles and supposedly some soft spots in the roof. Indicating that I also needed some boards replaced too. In the end the guy from Lysters went up on my roof and looked it completely over then said to me your roof is in great shape and he also told me that if I had a leak in the roof causing black mold to grow in there then the water leak would also have gone down to the main level of the house and I would have water spots showing up. I have no water spots anywhere in the upstairs of my home. Once again just proving that I was actually lied to. The great news was I not only didn't need a new roof at all and the one I have now is going to be fine for at least another 10 to probably 15 years. I felt so relieved because the quote from Top Home Improvement was for just under $35,000.00 ! I can assure you that if I ever need work done on my home I will never call anyone but Lyster's to do the job. As for Top Home Improvement I would never use them for any job. I'm just so angry that they outright lied to me and almost cost me a substantial amount of money that was never necessary to spend whatsoever. I guess I would say buyer beware of who you call to do important work on your home. By not getting a second opinion I would have spent a huge amount of money that wasn't really necessary at all. I have also learned that from now on before I hire any company to do work on my home I'll definitely be checking with the Better Business Bureau too. They collect information about all kinds of companies and post the reviews of what other people have had to say about the company.

I finally got an appointment set up and the guy showed up 30 mins. early while I was on a call. He then left and I had to call back to see if we could set up another time. When the rep called me, he explained that they can't work with us because we have 8" gutters. Apparently, they do not have access to 8" gutters, and I was told they didn't have the equipment to install them anyway. They can only do 6" gutters. Maybe I am wrong, but I would have thought that would simply require a different size wrench if anything. Anyway, it very much seemed like they just did not want our business.

So, the quality of work and lifetime guarantee are positives for White Pine. The reason for only a 3-Star review stems from what was promised in the sale. When presenting what the company was offering, the salesperson showed gutters with included leaf guards. She never indicated that these were a separate purchase, leading us to believe they were included in the purchase. After installation, we found out the leaf guards were not installed and were told they were not included in the contract. When questioned about the misrepresentation in the sales presentation, we were offered a 30% discount if we wanted the leaf guards installed - an additional cost of $1,300. Feeling that the misrepresentation by the salesperson - whether unintentional or not - should have been covered by the company and not merely discounted by them, we cannot in good conscience fully recommend White Pine Renovation.

Joel and Armando showed up on time and with all of the necessary equipment to get the job done effectively and efficiently. They showed great respect for our home both inside and out inspecting and cleaning our wood burning stove chimney and the gas fireplace chimney on our 37 year old home. Armando showed his great climbing skills as he walked up their 40 foot ladder like it was nothing, cleaned and inspected everything from the top. Inside, covered everything and removed the chimney flue, cleaned and inspected the flue, chimney and stove. Armando is THE MAN!! They waited until every shingle on the entire house was torn off to tell us we needed entirely new decking...another $9,000. Obviously, we were shocked and appalled, but we had no choice at that point. Not one single roofing company would have come out to take over. After the job was complete, there were roofing nails EVERYWHERE! We had to borrow a magnet and go over the property multiple times so our 4 year old didn't get a nail through the foot. Then, when rain or snow came, we had leaks around our chimney and bathroom vents...we still do because the owner is MIA and we are stuck trying to figure out how to resolve a problem they created. Don't be fooled by low prices or quick service to get things done. More than likely you are being duped into signing a contract that is not going to be honored.

Joe estimated $450 for the job and warned me that it would be more if they found damage after removing the shingles, which we both thought was quite likely. They took pictures of the damage, sistered in a new rafter, replaced the rotted decking section, took pictures of each repair, and replaced all the shingles, flashing, etc. as I'd requested. The total bill for the job was just $530 ($80 over the original estimate without the decking and rafter repair). I am very happy with the work done and the price.

In addition, I had contracted with the for snow removal but the driver would cause damage to my lawn. Each time that I mentioned that to DeYoung, as required by my contract, the driver damaged even more of my lawn, ignoring markers and driving an entire truck length into my lawn. I decided to give notice to cancel the snow removal contract and look elsewhere for that portion of my service. Today I attempted to submit my summer contract for lawn mowing. I had signed a contract in the fall for landscaping this year. My e-mail was returned stating that DeYoung had chosen to not honor my contracts and to cease services. Why - because I let them know that their snow plow operator damaged my lawn, as required in my contract, and let them know that I was not happy? In my opinion, they were unprofessional and didn't honor their own contract requirements and were malicious in cancelling the contracts because of an issue caused by them.
