My husband and I thought we had a major issue with our 95-year-old wood burning fireplace. We called Chim-Chimney just before the holidays and Mike came out to take a look. We anticipated a costly visit and dreaded the news. He looked up the chimney and saw that the flue was stuck, he wiggled the flue handle and showed us how to properly use the handle then said, "no charge". Say what? My husband and I purchased a home that came with a wood burning stove in the living room. We have no experience with it so we decided to have it cleaned before we used it. Mike and his son? came over and did a fabulous job on my wood burning stove that was very dirty. I'm going to assume the prior owner never cleaned the thing although he used it constantly. I am so impressed with this company. I called them to come out and sweep my chimneys as my husband had mentioned the fireplace was getting a little smoky. He quoted me the price up front ($125), very reasonable, came right when he said he would, inspected the fireplaces and told me they look fine and to call him next year for a sweep. I was blown away - I know nothing about chimneys, he easily could have just told me they needed to be done and I would've paid him and called it good. This company has some true honest folks running it, and I'm happy to recommend them to anyone else, and I'll definitely be calling them next year for a sweep! He also mentioned that the smokiness was likely just because of how our fireplace is set up (we apparently need to build the fire farther back). Easy fix, he didn't charge me a cent for that advice. read more
