Imagine my surprise when I pulled into the parking lot and found an empty building. I doubled checked the address and realized the restaurant moved two or three buildings to the north. No biggie. I just need to pay better attention - and if you're wondering - as of this writing the restaurant is located on the southwest corner of 27th and Cornhusker Highway. I liked the pupusas. I love this place! I started coming when they were at their old location around the corner. This one is kinda funny bc it's the same great tasting food but served in an environment that is the same as each previous restaurant (clearly everything remaining of Village inn and the Japanese hibachi that went out of business.) makes it a unique experience. There were maybe 4 tables in the entire place when we arrived. The chips and salsa, which we only received 2 less than filled baskets, were good. The not server in there, took our drink order, and to our surprise, they bring your sodas in a bottle ($3.50 each). I really wanted this to be a good experience, unfortunately it missed by a lot. Atmosphere was interesting, looks like an old converted ihop or denny's. Everything was clean and orderly. International background music, including Happy Birthday. Service was prompt and friendly up until the end. I was the only one there, had to wait 10 min for the check. I could hear the waitress somewhere in the background talking on her cell phone. The food ... yuk. I ordered mixed tacos which were supposed to have chicken, beef and shrimp. Presentation was nice, lots of peppers and onions. The shrimp still had the tails on,,, how are you supposed to eat grilled shrimp tails in a taco? And they were tough, obviously badly overcooked. Had #23 wasn't what expected chicken was undercooked and not enough food. Chicken fajitas were unseasoned, very greasy and small serving. Refried beans taste like out of a can, and rice taste like an odd unseasoned butter flavor. Will most definitely not be back. read more

This will be my nee go to taco joint. Upon entering, I told the person greeting us that this was our first time. He seemed almost exited to tell us all about the menu! After explaining what certain dishes were and what this restaurant is known for, we ended up getting multiple items...essentially creating our ie. tapas style lunch. This place is known for its pupusa. I'm not a real fan of this dish in general, but my husband is, so we ordered that and a beef taco and pork taco. The pupusa was good, even though I generally don't like them, they one was good.....but the tacos... THEY WERE GREAT! Definitely a street taco vibe and I'm all in for it. We moved here from Las Vegas about a year ago. My mom is Mexican so I'm use to having the real Mexican food from always going to Mexico to visit. I'm pregnant and I was really craving pupusas so I went online to check if anywhere in Lincoln had them. I saw this online so we decided to try them out. Let's just say I have had many pupusas and this was one of the best I have had. It was my husband's first time trying them which he loved. Delicious fresh food! Menu includes both Salvadoran and Mexican foods, and provides very helpful descriptions. We ordered items ala carte for lunch, which worked well to create a broad sampling. I especially enjoyed the tamales and plantains. We ordered ours plain, although the can also come with garnishes and fillings. The plantain was cut into large pieces, and cooked until a lovely, crispy caramelized exterior formed. I don't see how you can eat here and not order plantains. A friend from Honduras has taken me to other Salvadoran restaurant in the Midwest. I stopped here on my own based on Yelp review. The papusas were delicious, and the cabbage slaw was crisp and fresh. By far the best part of the meal was the tamales. Best I have ever had. I find most tamales dense and pasty. These the corn meal was light and had a simple flavor that was delicious. Just back to say how much I love this place. We took our boss here for lunch (she is an adventurous eater) and she loved it. This time I tried a few new things, including the guacomole which was seriously bomb. It was smooth, fresh, very tasty. Probably one of my favorite guacs to date. I also had a tostado, which was tasty, and my new favorite thing: a sweet plaintain with beans and cream. I've had the plantain before but I was nervous to try it with the beans and the cream. DO IT. Tia Lety's was (and remains!) a wonderful discovery for us. I love Salvadoran food and it's hard to find alternative South American options when Mexican is the predominant cuisine so I'm happy to have it near. The parking situation is pretty bad (potholes and muddy gravel and not a lot of room to maneuver) and the atmosphere inside is a little uncomfortable (bad lighting, low ceilings, weird seating setups) which is why I knocked off a star from the 5 the food earned. Their pupusas are to die for, I'm serious. Their curtido is really flavorful too, not the bland wet cabbage you get at some other places, and the salsas are perfectly spicy. They also have great little tacos and maduros! I'd say this is not the spot for you if you're a steak lover- I've tried the carne asada and even I found it a bit overdone and flavorless- but otherwise I've been so happy with all my choices. Tia Lety's is a place I will return to again and again for that crispy pupusa goodness... it's worth every time I almost get rear-ended in the parking lot! read more

I went for lunch there today. It was the first time that I'd been there in years and now I'm just kicking myself for not having returned sooner! The food is awesome! I had the taco pastor which was very tender and had good flavor. It was maybe a little greasy but I think that added to the flavor. Then I had the chicharron pupusa with queso it was wonderful. Lightly fried and just the right amount of onions, although it could have used more tomatoes. But the highlight of the meal was the tamales de elote! It was so sweet! It tasted like heaven! I had it with a side of sour cream and it was soooo gooood! I will definitely return just to have the tamale! read more

Finally, after 10 months of fruitless searching, I found an authentic hispanic restaurant that satisfies my Texas palette! From the moment I tasted their homemade salsa, I knew it would be great. I love all things spicy, and this delivered. For my meal, I took Yelp's advice and tried a chicharron papusa. Basically, El Salvador's take on a hot pocket, though comparing the two isn't fair, because the papusa was amazing!!! Everything was cheap, so I took the opportunity to try as much as I could. I also got a chicken tamale just to try it. It had rice in addition to the chicken, and I loved it. Finally, I ended the meal with the dessert empanadas filled with pudding. Oh, be still my soul. These were incredible and not too sweet! The only problem I had was that service was very slow. I enjoyed not being rushed, but it's also a good thing that I had nowhere to be. Oh, I love this place. I used to visit their old restaurant in the downtown area and was so sad when they closed. When I read they had opened a new place on North 27th I was jumping for joy! I honestly think the food is better than I remember (if that is even possible). They have expanded their menu a bit and offer lots of latin american foods, not just Salvadoran cuisine. The space is bright and cheery, and the staff has been very friendly on the two times I've visited. On the first visit, the gent and I decided to order a wide variety of items to try. I got two papusas (one cheese and one pork and cheese), and a chicken taco. The gent ordered the pasteles and a sweet corn tamale with crema and refried beans. This ended up being a ton of food! I had no idea the papusas would be so large! I will start with the papusas: they are absolute perfection. Honestly, the best papusas I've ever had. They are grilled to a golden, crispy perfection. They aren't too greasy, and the fillings are fantastic. The pork had a wonderful flavor and was in no way chewy or hard to eat (as another review on here suggested). The pasteles were amazing as well. Filled with meat and beans, these are little fried indulgences. We loved these babies! The sweet corn tamale is heavenly as well. This isn't what most of us have had before. These tamales are slightly sweet (think sweet corn on the cob) and it pairs perfectly with the slight salty/sourness of the crema sauce. LOVE this! My chicken taco was decent, but not not the best I've ever had. That was, I suppose the weakest link of the bunch, but by no means a bad taco. I would also like to add that all of this food set us back about $16. That's incredible! I've been here again just for papusas, because really you can make a meal out of just two of these. One minor complaint is the lack of beer/liquor. I think the gent and I would come here a bit more often if they served beer and mixed drinks, but hey, we can get it over it. :) read more

Been here a couple of times and found it to be a good experience overall. The interior is clean and comfortable and they have a couple of tables that can accommodate larger parties. We found the service friendly and prompt. The food is good and is unique for the area. We enjoy the pupusas, a stuffed corn tortilla filled with your choice of fillings. We like the pork, cheese, and beans mixture. Probably our favorite items are the pasteles which are deep fried pork and vegetable tacos served with a fermented slaw. The sweet corn tamales are a nice sweet treat also. The tacos have good toppings and the meats we've tried have been tasty. The pork tamales are a little different than what I've had elsewhere, in that they are stuffed with not only pork but a variety of vegetables. In sum, definitely a place to go to get unique and tasty salvadorian food! read more

This place is too expensive and has the worst customer service. They did not check on our table once to see if we needed anything. We asked for salsa for our chips, which we never got.
