Stopped in at Las Margaritas with my brother and sister-in-law (Lincoln locals and big fans of this spot). We were seated right away, and the server even knew my brother's drink and dinner order, which felt like VIP treatment. It's a cute, clean establishment, very on par with most Mexican restaurants in the area. Chips and salsa arrived quickly. The chips were standard, but the salsas were fresh and tasty, with both hot and mild options. We started with the cheese dip, which was a little runny, but I actually like it that way. It even had spinach in it, so we'll call that healthy. Our crew ordered everything from shrimp diablo to nachos to chicken ranchero, while I went for the number one combo with three tacos. The food came quickly and looked great, but my tacos didn't hold up. The shells gave out under the weight of the beef, which was a bit on the greasy side. Instant sog city. Sadness. I ended up making tostadas out of the wreckage with the help of some of the table chips. Overall, not a bad stop. The menu is big, the service is friendly, and there is plenty more to try. Our first visit to Las Margaritas. There were two in our party. It was 6pm on a Friday there was no wait and the restaurant was about 1/2 full. Seated quickly and the guacamole cart came over straight away, we declined guacamole and perused the menu it was a very big menu. They had well over ten different types of margaritas but they don't make mojitos, as usual dealing with mint is too much work for the bartender. (Strike one) I ordered a Mazatlan Margarita. My wife just had water. Time to order dinner, I had #6 combo enchilada and burrito, my wife had #5 combo, enchilada, burrito and chicken tamale. Our dinner was brought to our table astonishingly fast, in 5-10 minutes, maybe less. The burritos and enchiladas were much on the small side. But, it's the tamale that caught our attention and not in a good way. As my wife was eating her tamale, she chuckled and said "look at this" The tamale was, essentially a lump of Masa, with a stripe of chicken running down the length. There was virtually no meat in the tamale. The rest of the food I would rate as a 4 out of 10. But, the tamale needed further investigation. Maybe the tamale served to us was a one time mistake. So, I ordered a tamale to take home with us. It was no mistake. At home I proceeded to weigh, measure and photograph it. I cut out a cross section near the center point. (See photo) Then I completely took the tamale apart. Separated the chicken and the masa. It turns out the Tamales at Las Margaritas are 96.5% masa and 3.5% chicken. (P. S. I'm a science teacher) So, be advised the food at Las Margaritas is not their strong point. HOWEVER, if you recall I ordered a Mazatlan Margarita. It was the BEST Margarita I've ever had. And, I lived in south Florida for 37 years, so that's saying something! I won't be coming back to Las Margaritas for their food, but I will be coming back for their drinks. read more

Idky I was expecting like a street taco with onions and cilantro. It was a fucking hard shell like drive through taco. My plate was mostly fluid. Like Mexican cafeteria food. One Star is too many!!! Sat down with a group of five, chips and salsa came out...I see something running around the salsa dish...yep It was this cockroach!! I had to ask for the manger twice, the second time I asked I mentioned the roach and was told the manger was busy, when she came out, she never apologized and didn't seemed surprised, she told me it was a critter and they come from everywhere. It was almost as if she didn't believe me, we hadn't even ordered so I didn't need anything g for free. Then she offered me a tour of their kitchen and told me how clean they where. Overall BAD experience! Our server dropped our plates on the table rather than placing them. Our food did come out quickly. The ground beef in our tacos tasted bland and texture was like it was puréed. The Dr. Pepper had little, to no syrup. The refried beans were soupy and bland. And to top it off, the table next to us had 5 small children hitting each other, screaming, running around their table while their parents(?) sat and ate their dinner. At one point one of the boys stretched across 3 chairs and his brother gave him a karate chop massage while yelling at each other! Can you even?!! Server brought the check and dropped IT on the table in its vinyl folder. We seriously thought we were on "What Would You Do?" We used to love to come here but won't be going back. So sad. read more

Huge portion sizes, probably the best free chips and salsa of any mexican restaurant I've been to (hot is my favorite). Mazatlan and El Toro are owned by the same people btw so if you're in a different part of town I'd recommend one of those restaurants as well for the same great food. The trick to Las Margaritas is to get yourself an Abrham's margarita and then skip the Tex-Mex stuff. Instead, order from the part of the menu that has the family recipes, especially the seafood, which is the specialty of Jalisco, from where the Morales family hails. It's great. I don't think there is a worse value in Lincoln. My 3 steak taco meal was $15.99?! For 3 tacos?! There was the smallest amount of what I would call bean paste smeared on the plate. The food was tasteless. The soft taco shells were soggy and gross. The salsa they brought out tasted like ketchup. The service was polite and efficient, but the food was just plain and simple not good. This place would only be acceptable to people who have never had GOOD Mexican food. El Chaparo in town is 100x better, and El Catrin in Omaha is 1000x better. Ordering the same thing at El Catrin would of costed HALF, and would have came with the best homemade salsa in the state. Came here Saturday night at 6pm craving some white queso dip. We ordered the dip, a few drinks and a quesadilla for our son. Our waiters demeanor immediately changed after we only ordered cheese dip. In comparison to other Morales family restaurants (La Mexicana, El Toro, Mazatlan etc) this isn't my favorite. That being said, I am a fan of their network of restaurants and appreciate that each one has its own flare. I've been to Las Margaritas 3 times, usually because I'm out shopping in this area. The ingredients are of good quality, but I find it a bit boring and bland compared to their other restaurants. Perhaps it's been toned down for a different clientele out here? I'm not sure, but it is not as flavorful as the others. The last time I was here I had the veggie enchiladas. They had spinach, mushrooms, onions, cheese and enchilada sauce. It was all pretty bland, especially the enchilada sauce which is what I usually rave about with their restaurants. I am also a big fan of the Morales rice, but at Las Margaritas I've found it to be dry, and really lacking in flavor. The service is still pretty speedy and efficient like the other establishments, which is always a good thing. Bottom line: if you're out this way go ahead and stop in. It's definitely better than most of the chain restaurants you'll find out here, but if you can try one of their others. read more

One of my all-time favorite Mexicans restaurants in Lincoln is Mazatlan off O street, so imagine my surprise when -- starving -- we happ'd upon this joint almost out in the middle of nowhere on the South Side owned by the same family. It was deserted, save for one older couple and a guy at the bar, which was perfect considering it was 2 or 3 something in the afternoon when we got there. The decor was very, very nice, much more upscale than Mazatlan, and much more clean and new. I ordered some cheese enchiladas, and until they came I munched on the deliciously spicy salsa and flaky-yummy chips. The order came out super fast -- I mean, SUPER fast, even for there being no traffic at the time. The food was piping hot, the plate to the temperature of warming cold hands on a warm day, and my first bite was like coming home. I'm a sucker for good Mexican food, and the family that runs these restaurants (of which I believe there are four, including La Mexicana Market in downtown Lincoln) knows how to do it right without sacrificing lots of flavor for the American diners. The beans were incredibly good and although I didn't touch the rice (Mexican rice isn't my thing), I'm sure they were delicious. Overall, the prices were incredibly reasonable, the food was hot and fast, and the joint was clean. The absolute go-to Mexican restaurant in Lincoln! I always come in when I am home from school and am never disappointed. First off, if you are going to be named "Las margaritas" your margaritas better be muy deliciosa...and they are! My mother and I always stop in for some chips, salsa and margaritas when we want to catch-up with each other. Now, the chips and salsa are fantastic! I am a huge salsa snob and their picante spicy is fantastic! I always go through at least of bowl of that salsa with the chips and my meal. The main course I usually get is the chicken chimichanga and it is fantastic! The meat is perfect inside, the shell is perfectly fried and the touches of guac, sour cream, and pico de gallo on top make it fantastic! Another meal I typically get is the chicken in mole. Anyone who knows about mole knows it is either VERY hit or miss. I gauge a new Mexican restaurant by their mole dish...and their mole is fantastic! Hints of chocolate and super savory with the chicken, a perfect combination. Pollo a la crema is another popular dish my family regularly gets that I definitely recommend. It is a nice creamy sauce with mushrooms and onions with perfectly cooked chicken. Overall, every meal I have had at Las Margaritas has been a great, delicious experience. I really appreciate the service! They are incredibly friendly, nice, and very attentive to their table. I usually order in Spanish while I'm there and they really appreciate it and love to chat with me throughout the meal. During a recent trip to Lincoln with the girlfriend we were out driving around doing some shopping and we drove past this new restaurant. The GF hadn't seen it there when in town back in August so it could be no more than 5 months old. It was about 2pm when we showed up so the place was pretty empty. I believe there was just one other couple in the place. When we sat down we realized the place was part of a little local chain. I forget the name of the other 3 places, but they were all Mexican themed places. Since the place was dead our food probably came out within 10 minutes of sitting down, and it was all delicious and very fresh tasting. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, and will definitely want to check it out again the next time we are in town! read more

I visited this restaurant on 07/25/2017 @ around 6.30 PM. I am giving one star for ambience. My experience was the worst as you see. Below are the reasons. Note - We are pure vegetarian. 1. There is absolutely no customization, even rice is prepared with lard in it. So far I have visited more than 50 Mexican good restaurants, customization was NOT a big deal. Common guys you got to customize. 2. With that being said, only two - three items left which we can say pure vegetarian. Now, let's come onto food and their taste 1. We ordered Veg Fajita, chili relleno (forgive spelling mistake), and Fries Veg Fajita - This was a disaster. It was like sauted vegetables being served in Chipotle. It was thinly cut, 70-80% onion, reminders were carrot, green beans, bell peppers. Common guys Veg Fahita should have pretty big chunks not thinly cut. There was NO Cauliflower, no broccoli. The taste was just average Chili Relleno - was just okay. Fries - they gave mixed old fries to new fries. Some of the fries were really bad in taste. I don't think so this is a Mexican restaurant.
