Elevators they "fix" sometimes break down HOURS or days later. They struggle to find parts. Avoid!

He made his way to Trump Tower, but without a chimney deliveries took hours." The good elves at Trump Chicago wanted to give Santa a helping hand so they created a "slight mess" in order to "build The Gingerbread Express!" Daniella Rinaldi is the Pastry Sous Chef at Sixteen who thought of the idea for The Gingerbread Express and she has only been there for two months! What started out as a joke between Daniella and her peers turned into an awesome realty--"the first and only gingerbread elevator in the world." "I wanted people to go in and feel like they were in another world. How often do you get to feel like that?" Rinaldi shared when I asked her about the Gingerbread Express. Not enough, was my response. People visiting the Michelin-rated restaurant on the sixteenth floor will have the most enjoyable journey to the North Pole! You can smell the sweetness as soon as you enter the lobby. The Gingerbread Express is edible and made from: 308 lbs of gingerbread dough 942 gingerbread bricks 222 lbs of frosting 178 lbs of sugar 103 lbs of chocolate I now know what drew Hansel and Gretel to the witch's cottage. I just kept riding the Gingerbread Express because I couldn't get off. Luckily, Trump International Hotel & Tower and Sixteen do not have any witches to worry about. Only great service and fantastic food will greet you upon your arrival. On your ride up--or down--you will have a fantastic view of the Kitzbuhel Alps in Austria while singing along to the festive music. You might want to admire the custom train speeding by over your head! Or, you can warm your hands by the faux fire in the fireplace. The best and most important thing about the Gingerbread Express is that it is dedicated to the patients and families at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and you can leave your donation at the front desk because the Holidays are really about loving, sharing and giving! Whatever you decide you must stop by and just experience the holiday magic the amazing Food & Beverage team created. You will not regret it! And I went back to my hotel happily ever after--and full.

After many many unanswered calls and emails, an appointment was set up and the tech arrived - late- and within 5 minutes said the problem was an electrical issue to the power source. We called ComEd - no electric issue from the line to the meter. Called 3 electricians - no electrical issue to the elevator. We need an elevator technician. Called back to Essential. Mary Ellen is extremely unhelpful. Sent emails to understand the problem, asked for a phone call to get better explanation of the problem. NO CALL. Had to hound and hound to get any information - Still nothing. FInally caught Mary Ellen, and she told me that she would "See what she could do" - They want me to pay for the tech coming out - but REFUSE to tell me what the problem he claims he found - they will not stand behind their work and meet with us and the electrician to tell us what they feel is wrong. I will pay for service when the service is rendered - but if you can't stand behind your claims and 4 companies tell us that the problem is not what you claim - YOU should NOT be in business.

She keeps assuring me a colleague will reach out, but I haven't heard from anyone during my week of persistence. It's wild to see photos of someone at the desk because I'm starting to think this is all a hoax and this place doesn't really exist. Help, yelp!

What was worse than the plumbing was how management handled it. When I went to the resident services office to ask for help, the manager on duty declined to speak with me and had the receptionist tell me the only thing I could do was wait, at my own cost. When I asked a leasing specialist about my rights if the apartment isn't livable, I was told he wasn't aware of any such policy. That's not accurate -- Chicago's tenant ordinance treats plumbing and hot water as essential services, and the summary of those rights is attached to the lease Waterton itself gives you. Maintenance has come twice. The first repair failed the next day. The second lasted about six hours. I've since been told the cause may require inspecting the plumbing floor by floor through the building. No completion date has been given. To be fair, a technician did come quickly once I put everything in writing. But residents shouldn't have to cite the city code to get a straight answer, and they shouldn't be told to absorb the cost of an apartment they can't use. If you're considering renting here: document everything in writing from day one, and know your rights under the Chicago RLTO before you sign.
