They have done good work o my appliance. The problem is their service. The hours on their website don't match those on their door sign! The day I got there I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to to get there to open the door. Okay that can happen to all of us who open businesses. The next time I came at 12:30 and the doors were locked. lights were on, but no note on the door, nor did their sign indicate they were closed over the non hour. I waited around until1:15 and finally had to leave. Tried to call but their answering machine was messed up: message kept breaking up and it wouldn't take a message. I'm pretty good at repairing my own vacuum but after the cord went out, I don't deal with electrical anything. I knew it was the cord and called around to a few places to price compare. When I called Kelly's they wouldn't give me a quote for a new cord on the phone and said "it could be lots of things, we'll check everything out and give free estimate ". I dropped it off and asked them to call me with the estimate, two days later they called to say it was done and I was a bit upset that I never got that call. I think it's bad business to perform work without the "go ahead" from a customer. I still gave them 4 stars because the cost was $20 cheaper than my lowest other estimate and it was done quick . Good experience - had issue with Dishwasher. Alex was timely, knowledgeable and professional. Took time to explain the problem and tips to avoid recurrence. Also took the extra time once completed to properly level and secure dishwasher underneath cabinet. Would recommend. read more

I went back to Kelly's Appliances in Wilmette yesterday to talk to the owner about the loss of my cut glass lamp. He was not there, but the clerk said they had "found" the lamp and I could get it today. Went back today to pick it up. It did indeed have a new cord--but in the process of taking the lamp apart to fix the cord they broke the base of the cut glass lamp in half and chipped it in several places. They glued it back together very badly--obviously the reason they were reluctant to return it to me. This is NOT the place to take anything you value to be fixed. read more

I've been here several times over the years, to look for repairs for a vacuum and other small appliances. Hard for me to understand how they are in business. No greeting as you enter. No interest in your repair. Very lackadaisical exam of your broken product. I left a vacuum once for repair and it wasn't any better when I picked it up. They also lack even necessary equipment for testing your appliance. They dont have low repair costs. There are very few appliance repair shops left. Best route is to find a good private handyman and use YouTube videos. read more

Dryer broke and these guys were fabulous. The Big Store locally quoted a 3-week wait for a service visit (!) But Kelly's - answered the phone immediately, came out the next morning, had it fixed 2 days later. The tech service guy was super professional. Service was great, but at a premium! Shame on us for not asking when we called about the fee and shame on them for not calling it out when we called. $150 for the initial service call. If you do need additional service that fee goes towards the service fees. But if not (as in our case) you are out a lot of money that could go towards the new appliance you just found out you needed. There has to be more affordable service calls out there! read more

Disappointed! I called Kelly's since they are close by and had good reviews, to give them a chance. I had a pretty good idea what was wrong with my dishwasher and wanted to discuss with a repair technician before paying for a service visit. They weren't even willing to listen to the problem, and told me I had to pay $119 for a service call. On the other hand, Household Appliance Service in Park Ridge only charges $59 for a service call and the tech who answered the phone was incredibly helpful, pointing out that the part that likely needed replacement would be about $300 and suggested replacing the appliance. Had a leaking dishwasher that I thought was due to poor installation, but the repairman showed me the hose where a mouse chewed through (yuck!! & I had no idea I had any in the house). He repaired the problem quickly & showed me what he was doing. He didn't try to sell me any additional services & was a really nice guy. Was prepared to spend a lot more for him to come out (same-day) & he was here an hour plus. Thank God I didn't call a plumber or else I'd still be paying off the bill. Happy with the service & will definitely use them for other repairs. read more

If I could give 0 star I would. Kelly's Appliance is a JOKE! This guy named Pat from Kelly's Appliance come (July 13) to my house to take a look at my non-working GE (Profile) freezer. He spent less than a minute only to tell me to unplug the freezer and that he would come back to assess the problem on the following Monday, then he charged me $80.00. But today, Monday, July 16, he called me and said that he was probably could not do anything and asked me to call GE tech, instead. He promised to refund me half of $80.00 that he charged to spend a a minute taking a look at my freezer. WOW! I want a full refund for this!. DO NOT WASTE your time dealing with this people. Go and find an authorized tech from the company that sells your appliances. read more

They are very responsive to customers, and we had our dryer the next day after we purchased---delivered at the time we wanted it. They carry commercial grade appliances for consumers too, which is great to get better products. Highly recommend. read more

I moved nearby and was looking for a (trusty) Speed Queen washer and dryer. They have the full consumer line there and were extremely helpful in identifying the differences. Prices on par or cheaper than other prices online. When we bought them we were going to also buy a dishwasher cleaner and they just threw it in for free (I didn't even ask). They were able to deliver quickly for free and install for free as well. Washer and dryer working great. It feels great to shop at a local business and support the local economy. I plan to bring in our Dyson soon to bring it back to life (it looks like they work on a ton of vacuums there). read more

I like doing business local. I even agreed to buy a hepa filter for a vacuum, knowing full well I could get it cheaper on Amazon. I'd like to see places like Kelly's stay in business. Dropping off a Miele vacuum for repair was not very welcoming. No greeting, no thank-you, just a grunt that I would get a call with an estimate. The call came promptly, same day in fact, not cheap, and sure go ahead and replace the filter. Picking it up though made the drop-off pleasant. No greeting, couldn't find the ticket despite that the vacuum was sitting in plain site. The fellow working refused to go to the vacuum until I mentioned it being there the third time. Then, sign-here, no looking at you, no thanks, no appreciation whatsoever. So, NO thanks back. I'm done. Sad. read more

Turns out my old dishwasher is on its last legs, but the repairman was professional and gave me some great advice on next steps. Kelly's Appliances are the BEST! My Speed Queen washer, that I bought there over 40 years ago finally bit the dust. I called them to see why it didn't work and said "maybe I need a new one". They said let's check first. They were out in two hours. I was right, it was time to get a new one. In another hour they installed my new one, took away my old one. All at a fair price. Purchased top end Speed Queen washer and Dryer because of reviews and longevity. Tried Kelly's on neighbor recommendation. Priced out total price vs. Abt and Kelly's was a $100 + less expensive. No brainer. Installed next day. Installers were courteous , efficient and took the time to walk through operation and care of SQs. Kelly's does not have the huge inventory to choose from but can get most models of brands they carry quickly. read more

You call them -- they come out the same day or next (ABT told me it would be a full two weeks before I could get a service person out to look at a broken wash machine). They have fixed a washer, dishwasher, and vacuum cleaner for me and it's been quick and easy (they even picked delivered my vac). They're nice folks to work with, professional and good service. Picked up my vacuum after repairs, brought it home only to find the $60 hepa filter missing. Returned the next day, explained the situation to the manager and was told I would need to purchase a new one...which unbelievably, I did! No stars for Kelly Appliance. They are not a KitchenAid authorized repair center no matter what their sign says according to Kitchen Aid Customer Service. Three and a half months ago, I brought my stand mixer in as it was not performing as well as it should. They told me they would look at it and call me. A month later, I went in and they "hadn't gotten to it." I went every other day for a week and finally they called and said it was repaired. They charged me $90 to replace a cracked housing and a pin. I brought it home and it still did not work so I brought it back. They said that they would look at it and call me in a couple of days. A month later I went in and they said :"they hadn't gotten to it yet" although they were standing around doing nothing. I commented that they could look at it now and they said that they were too busy and that I should come back. I came in a week later and voiced my concerns and they said they would look at it. I waited two weeks and called Kitchen Aid who told me that they were not an authorized repair outlet and that I should go and get my stand mixer and bring it elsewhere or I could send it to them for repair. I went in to see if they had bothered to do anything and they hadn't. I commented that it did not appear that they cared about their customers and that they didn't seem to know how to fix Kitchen Aid appliances. They told me that they knew all about them and that I was the problem. I took the mixer and left never to return. If you have something that needs fixing. Look elsewhere. These guys don't seem to care and are rude when questioned. I was polite at all times and did not merit their disdain. read more
