I went to this doctor for a few years. He is aggressive, will not listen and fired me because I challenged him when he forgot to give me a UA and wasn't going to prescribe. He was unprofessional and yelled at staff often in front of patients. In appropriate and unprofessional. He refused to see me because I dared challenge his authority. Don't do it. Dr. Vo almost killed me. He was writing me pain medication 360 tablets at a time he didn't care he would change them if I said they weren't working and write the same amount of another one when I told him that I no longer wanted to be on pain meds because I was tired of masking and wanted real treatment. He accused me of being a drug addict and tried calling the police. I think that he is a pill pusher and doesn't care about treating symptoms only masking them. read more

This doctor is awesome. I used to get epidural's in my back from Kaiser. I quit Kaiser because all of a sudden they don't know anything. Kaiser was tortured this Dr Vo knows what he's doing little rough around the edges but he knows what he's doing. First I would like to say we have no complaints against the doctor himself, except the policies that the nurses claim he has in place. Saying this, his nurses WILL NOT answer the phone, so if you need their help with your pharmacy (even if the pharmacy says they need to talk to the office) or anything else you WIll NOT get it. They have not once answered the phone In the time we have been here. Each time we have to physically drive to the office to talk to any of them. So far anytime we talk to the office manager they blame this on the doctors "policies". Also I realize we are in a pandemic right now which makes it harder on them, and I would agree if this hasn't been a problem for more than a year. read more

I saw Dr. Thuong D. Vo for a simple cortisone injection in my shoulder, back in 2016 at his Lancaster office (He also has an office on Railroad Ave in Newhall, CA.) This was a simple 5 minute shot in the office. I had called to make sure they took my insurance even though he wasn't my regular doctor. I was working in Lancaster so it was more convenient to just get the shot there. Normally it would be a $15 co-pay. A few weeks later, I was quite shocked to receive a bill from him for $5,000.00. Surely this was a mistake. There were all kinds of bogus itemized things on the bill that I never received. But when I called, they assured me, it was the correct bill. I said it was ridiculous and I would not be paying that. So about a month later, I received a second bill, this time for just under $10,000 ($9875.00 to be exact). Again itemized: 1. Ambulatory Surgery Center $5000.00 2. Recovery Room Service $700.00 3. X-rays $250 4. Central Suppliers $1495.00 5. Equipment $2650.00 6. Pharmacy $360 Seriously??? I came in, spent 5 minutes, received one shot in his office and was gone. I called and told his office my husband and I were driving down to speak to him personally. When we got there, Doctor Vo would not see us but we spoke with his receptionist. "Are you quite mad???" I asked. She then told me that the bill was indeed correct and that they would be kind enough to make an exception and put us on a payment plan. Needless to say, we were outraged and said we had no intention of paying this bogus bill with fictional itemizations. The receptionist's last words were, "Well Ma'am, we can charge whatever we want." Unbelievable. Never in my life, have I EVER experienced something like this. And the sad part is, there are some unsuspecting people out there that they can con into paying a bill like this with no questions. I've never written a scathing report like this on anyone, and I hope it never happens again. Stay as far away from this crooked Doctor as you possibly can. read more

I do not have a problem with Dr. Vo. I have been trying for 7 months to get the girls in the office to fill out my life insurance form. The insurance company also have contacted them and they still have not done it. I have left 20 to 30 messages and they do not return phone calls and they do not answer their phone. read more

Where do we start! I wish I could give this office 0 stars. Dr Vo saw one of my family members after she had developed a physical necessity for opioids after several intense spine surgeries. This office promised her the world, from one on one counseling to help her fear, to appointments every week to calm her nerves during the entire weaning off process. The first appointment she left in tears, after she was promised hands on outpatient support and care every step of the way. If only the promises were seen through. What actually happened was a front office that NEVER could be reached. We would leave message after message about her physical withdrawal symptoms that seemed to overwhelm her at times. She was NEVER called back. She would make appointments, given appointment cards and all, and we would drive down there to only be told there was NO APPOINTMENT, that she had been cancelled. She was given patches to be worn at all times to help with the withdrawal symptoms, but was not monitored. She was seen at a local urgent care because she was so sick, and they told her to take off the patches immediately because her blood pressure was extremely low, a side effect of the patches that was NOT discussed with her. We were also "assigned a weekly one on one appointment with an in office therapist that would help guide her through the mental aspects of withdrawal." After seeing her two weeks in a row, we were told that "his schedule had become SO overwhelmed with new patients" and that her next several appointments had been cancelled until further notice. We never received a call back from them. Although they did offer us group therapy, which he help once every two months, turning her private and personal therapy into a group ordeal, something she was not at all comfortable with. After seeing her concern, I called the office and voiced my concerns, and told them that they needed to see her ASAP because she was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable and not doing well. We NEVER received a call back. Please do yourself and NEVER go here. I can say firsthand, the promises are grand and you'll feel understood, but they have no intention of following up on your treatment or wellbeing after the first appointment. read more

For the past 5 years I have been dealing with several spine issues. I currently have a 3 level fusion from C4-C7. I had three separate surgeries to correct the horrible work by a man I call Dr Butcher. I now have 16 screws, 3 plates and 2 rods. In addition I have several issues affecting my Thoracic. I have dealt with several different Dr's and have been miserable. I can honestly say that Dr Vo has already done more for me in the past 3 weeks than anyone else in my 5 year journey. I have never posted a review about anyone before. I truly believe that Dr Vo is an honorable and caring person. My wife has been battling with a rare autoimmune disorder which has ultimately caused part of the syndrome degenerative arthritic pain within muscles and joints. She has seen many Dr's in 2 different states. Recently she got blessed with meeting Dr Vo. In just a short few months Dr. Vo has relieved her out of debilitating days. I had spinal fusion with instrumentation several years ago. Unfortunately, two years later, two additional vertebrae became painful. Surgery was advised, but I was unwilling to go through the painful experience again. I was living in AZ at the time, and a pain management doctor gave me injections (one on each side of the metalwork in my back) while under anesthesia. I had relief for two years! When I moved to CA, I visited Dr. Vo. He advised me that he did not anesthetize patients since the injections he gave were not very painful. The first two injections were painful, but bearable. They also provided NO relief. He convinced me that a different procedure would help; then another and another. What a sucker I was to believe him! The injections became increasingly painful and provided no relief. A total of 12 shots (6 on each side), the last couple so painful they had to hold me down! I have since learned that High Desert Medical Group received so many complaints about him that they no longer refer patients to him. Dr. Vo is in "pain management" for the money, not to relieve pain. I would not recommend him to anyone! If I could leave zero stars for him, I would. read more

I am the husband of a patient and the experience Dr. Vo put my wife through was horrible. When seeking a pain doctor, our goal was to find relief and safety to improve her quality of life. But instead, with Dr. Vo, he was rude, arrogant, mean to his staff and did not improve my wife's condition. Instead, he kept on prescribing her opiods, charged us for a ridiculously expensive vitamin treatment that did not help and when I tried to discuss the billing with him, he sent me to collections. Instead of helping us manage my wife's pain, all I ended up with was more anxiety for my wife, more stress, no less pain, and more medical bills. Don't go here...GET A SECOND OPINION. I have been going there for a while now, and they started to call and cancel or reschedule a number of my appointments. I forgot was supposed to. Come in one day at 5 pm, they call me at 5:15 and tell me I have to pay $100 to see the doctor, the only appointment I ever missed. I'm Going to report him to the medical board. They understand pain "chronic pain" and dr vo is so understanding and kind and goes the extra mile to make sure his patients are not suffering. My adult son had been seeing Dr. Vo and at first all was going well in getting his pain medication and discussing treatment options for his severe neck pain, turns out he needed surgery and Dr. Vo was on board and explained everything to my son. Then for weeks on end his office could not be reached. He left numerous voicemails until the day it said his voicemail was full. Finally he was able to get his regular appt.and the receptionist said he would get his pain meds and the injections in his neck for his severe pain. The day my son showed up, which is a 3o minute drive for him, the receptionist told him that he could NOT get his pain meds, she said they do not schedule 2 separate things in one appt. My son told her who scheduled the appointment and what he was told. The receptionist disappeared, my son didn't know she went to talk to Dr. Vo. Dr. Vo came out in the waiting room and screamed at my son that he would not be seen. My son explained again what the other receptionist had scheduled him for and that he drove quite a distance. Dr. Vo continued yelling at him. Obviously the receptionist had said something to the doctor and exaggerated the situation for the doctor to come out yelling at my son in front of several other patients waiting in the waiting room. My son told the doctor that he had no right to yell at him and have an attitude like that in front of the other patients. Dr. Vo admitted he shouldn't have done that, then tells my son he is no longer a patient there and told his receptionist to discharge him from his practice and he would never be seen again. Dr. Vo was extremely unprofessional in the way he handled this situation. He left my son with no doctor to give him pain meds and no doctor to do the injections in his neck. read more

Dr vo has helped me so much and i enjoy coming to appts. I trust him so much that when my insurance was no longer contracted w him i changed insurances and Dr.s so i could continue treatment w him. He's very smart and attentive and you will leave there w a diagnosis and a plan which is hard to get w how bad the healthcare system has become. I saw Dr. Vo a few months ago for extreme pain in my ribcage. I was diagnosed with Costochondritis by another dr. After reading my explanation form, he gave me a general examination. WAs a bit sarcastic. He decided to give me spinal injections though nothing out of the ordinary showed in my xray...which he didn't even see. I called the next morning aftrer he injected me with Lidocane and Prednisone to ask a few questions because I felt very sick. No one returned my call and 2 days later I called again because I was still unwell. No one returned my call again. By the following Monday someone called to remind me I had another appointment for more injections. I declined the appointment and explained everything to the woman and I wanted to talk to Dr. Vo but she told me he never talks to patients on the phone. So I made another appointment for that Friday. By this time I'm fuming and still feeling unwell. When I met with him I explained that soon after I got home I started to feel very anxious and light headed., then I felt very drunk and weak. He replies very quickly that" this is the most ridiculous thing he has ever heard of". I did my research and having prednisone injections can do a lot of harm if you have weak adrenal glands and he should be testing patients before he injects them with steroids. This man doesn't know what he's doing and it took me over a week to recuperate. He showed so little regard and has the bedside manner of a child. Months later and I continue to have a weakness and odd feeling at the sight of his injections. I would really like to report him. read more

As a member of the community and former law enforcement officer, I was referred to Dr Vo by another well known MD in the area. In stories like mine, where you have a person who finds themselves in an impossible situation where they were injured and forced to end their career early, it was my first experience with Dr Vo that really made me realize he's a step above the rest in the medical community. Always friendly, Dr Vo met me with a hand shake and a joke. After being treated for over 18 months now, I have come to rely on him for his training and knowledge in all things related to my spine. I have also come to look forward to my visits, it doesn't feel great to be poked and prodded and bent and twist, but before I've even sat back down, he's already talking about a plan for what we're gonna do. He sits and listens, he might make a joke or two, but this is always to make you feel like a friend, and not just some doctor who sees you as a paycheck. He's never once disrespected me, interrupted me, he asks questions if he's not clear on what you're explaining, and seeing his patients fully recover is absolutely his ultimate goal. How do I know? In today's day in age, we all know and fear the doctors out there who are quick to write prescriptions for pain meds and not only over medicate their patients, but often get them addicted to medications. This is not Dr Vo's practice at all. My second visit I sat and watched as a patient was in recovery from back surgery. I'm not privy to all her details but during the exam I heard her bending and twisting and moving all around, it appeared she had 100% range of motion. It was easy to hear because she was loudly declaring how happy she was. She could move, without pain, and without meds, for the "first time in years" is what she said. This kinda made me chuckle, it was cute how happy she was. But what really brought a genuine smile to my face was when I heard Dr Vo respond. He knew this would be her last visit. But his patients aren't pay checks to him...he was genuinely happy for her and actually pretty enthused about what she had to say. When the door opened and they stepped out, they smiled and I saw the doctor have a bit of a pep in his step. In this moment I knew, I've found the guy I want caring for my spine for life. Not every treatment is going to work a miracle. Not every treatment is going to be perfect, bodies swell, bodies bruise, anything can happen...it's why we sign consent forms. But every treatment offered is carefully calculated in risk versus potential gain. And I can personally attest, only one time in 18 months, I experienced some localized swelling at the injection site (my body does not like being invaded, that's not his fault) but guess who took my call at 11:45pm on New Years Eve? Tell me what other doctor, or anyone else for that matter, does that? This might sound like we're personal friends or something, but before the referral I swear I had no idea he even know he existed. But I suppose that's exactly my point. I don't know him, we don't hang out or play golf or grab a beer...but we joke in his office like we're old friends, and he takes your calls in the middle of the night like a friend... I'll never wear the badge and uniform again, and as much as that pains me, he's made it possible for me to pick up, hold, care for, and play with my 6 month old son. And in the grand scheme of things, that's the best gift, more important than my career, and more than I ever could have asked for. read more

Dr. Vo is out of control. His injections does not help. After telling him numerous times the injections were no benefit to me, he continuously kept recommended them. I finally stop going. He orders x-rays but do not want to review them with you. Terrible pain management doctor. I do not recommend him. read more

Very efficient, prescribes the medications needed, and schedules back injections with no problem.

Note: Before #1 happened, Dr. Vo insisted that I receive injections into my cervical spine in his office like all of his patients. I told him I suffer from Major Anxiety disorder and would need to be knocked out (which was standard procedure for my previous pain doctor. It wasn't until after my insurance approved the outpatient procedure that it was finally scheduled: 1. I had an outpatient surgical procedure scheduled on 7/29. (The Surgical Center, Dr. Vo, Myself and my driver which cost me $80 out of pocket). On 7/28 I called for instructions as no one had contacted me. I was told that my procedure was CANCELLED and RESCHEDULED a few days later. NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THE LAST MINUTE CHANGE. Needless to say, I was in the Hospital recovering from major surgery so it would be IMPOSSIBLE for me attend this arbitrarily picked day. Guess it didn't suit Dr. Vo. As a result the procedure was even further delayed. 2. I had another office appointment I planned on attending, but had to leave town due to the fact that my sister was in a bad auto accident. I left a detailed voice mail message the day before. 3. I called to reschedule and the lady I spoke with told me 9/10/14 Wed at 10:15. 4. Are rep called on 9/8/14 with an angry tone saying I "MISSED" my 10:15 appointment. How can I "MISS" an appointment that I never made? Not to mention she claimed someone called me the Friday before, but that call never came my husband and I were both home all day and there were no messages left. She told me to come in at 10:45 9/9/14 and wanted me to pay $30 BEFORE Dr. Vo would see me (because I allegedly missed 2 appointments) I even heard Dr. Vo yell from his office in an angry tone "2 Missed Appointments". I explained that I did not miss the 9/8/14 appointment (THAT NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT) and would not have made an appointment that day as I had an appt with my surgeon that I had set for a couple of months in advance and would be unable to change. The receptionist who simply relayed Dr. Vo's insistence on the $30 had a hand written journal of the day the appointment was made that I was spoken to, but didn't write down the appointment, further evidence this was another ERROR on the part of Dr. Vo's staff. Dr. Vo's website says "Professional" but it couldn't be further from the truth. HIS STAFF made two critical mistakes on HIS schedule. I missed one appointment for a family emergency. I did not pay the $30 out of principle and revoked my authorization for him to be the ONLY doctor who could give me pain medication. This is not a professional way to handle patients at all! read more

The office is always so neat and clean, the staff is always so friendly and helpful and Dr. Vo really knows his stuff. I always leave this office feeling well taken care of, and that the Dr has really heard my concerns and found me a solution to feel comfortable with my path of treatment. Dr. Vo really made a life style change in my life. Dr. Kamron Parsa-neuro (another excellent doctor) recommended him. He has made the pain in my back go from a 8-10 on different days to a 1-3.
