Came here for dinner during happy hour. The food/drinks were great. Exactly what you would expect for bar food. The burger had a hot pink center. The pomegranate margarita: just keep them coming. The sliders were tasty. As for the service, we walked in and they let us choose our table. We opted to sit by the fire place. Service was a little slow but they were pretty busy and had limited staffing. (Not a big deal if you're patient). Ambiance: there was a variety of different groups here. Large, small, some on dates. I would say it's a very casual environment. Decor: quaint. The place was larger than expected. Parking: street meter parking. When you're in Georgetown parking is scarce, just park in a lot. How quickly they have fallen. Admittedly the review I am updating was a 5-Star review crafted in 2017. I have been here two additional times between that visit and today but saw no value in updating my review, despite observing moderate degradations. This visit on 10/11/2023 7:27 pm. was too much. While walking in, three ~30-year-old students are departing, I inquired "How is the burger"? One of them responded with an unenthusiastic "ok". (Strike 1). Step inside, sit at bar - sticky, scent of wet mop. (Strike 2). Strike 3 is on me sort of, let's call it 'ball one'. I should have departed. The first 3 beers I ordered, 86'd, (Sour Monkey, Dogfish 60, don't recall 3rd) - all not available. Not certain, but assuming they have 9 beers on tap, three not available equals over 30% of their taps being unavailable. My partner in crime strongly prefers Sauvignon Blanc, not Chardonnay, not Grigio...etc. On the menu, but again out. Not certain where in this process I ordered my 4th choice beer - but there it was, a check for $9.90. In hindsight, I should have requested they (they could have offered) comp the beer - but I / they didn't. I will never return, nor could I recommend. read more

Behind me, a group of mimosa'd up women who were annoying. Slow service. Fed up staff. Anxiously awaiting when Bar Rescue comes to town. The entire staff here is super friendly especially the manager he greeted us as soon as we stepped in the door and came to check on us twice. I love the service here!! This is the example of a local bar with great atmosphere, drinks, food, and energy!! The moment I walked in Zuhar (sorry if I spelled that wrong) was acting like your best friend. That guy was awesome. The crab and crawfish dip was solid. Not overly creamy and prob the best crab dip I've had. I'm from the south too. The burger is a great size. Just had lunch here with my wife. The restaurant is essentially an upscale dive, which is a nice contrast from the surrounding luxury shops and fancy eateries. The eclectic and fun decor combined with the cozy environment and prompt service made this a good way to spend 50 minutes while we planned the rest of our day. Our server did a good job taking care of us and got our order right. *Disclaimer: This is not a place you want to visit when you're dressed up cute and planning on taking pics or going somewhere else later. The food is messy and you will have to get your hands dirty. Here's the items we ordered and my thoughts: -Angry Orchard cider and Atlas Pilsner: the glasses were full and prices were normal. -Mixed Greens Salad: it wasn't really a mixed greens salad, because I think it was just romaine with carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, croutons, and dressing. I feel it was pretty standard for a salad from a burger place. You won't be particularly impressed though. -Chicken Bites: this was great. Portion was big enough to share, and the batter they used was super crunchy. -Ventura Highway burger: It was pretty standard. Not as fun/adventurous as it sounds when you read the description. Ordered it medium, and it was slightly over cooked. Bottom bun was very soggy, and the burger fell apart while eating. -Pig in a Cow Suit burger: Plenty of pulled pork in this. The flavor was good, and it's a big portion. It was sitting in a pool of juices/grease from the pork when it arrived which made this ESPECIALLY messy. Ordered it medium, and it was slightly over cooked. Bottom bun was very soggy, and the burger fell apart while eating. -Sweet potato fries: these were good. Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, and hot when they came out. -Thunder fries: these were just normal fries. I had higher expectations when I read the description in the menu, but they weren't bad. Cost after tip: $109. Seems expensive for burgers, but that's just the cost of eating at a restaurant in Georgetown. In conclusion, I'm not upset about the experience, what we paid, or the food quality, but I'm not planning to visit again in the near future. read more

We got our food and she never checked up on us again or offered us drinks. We payed separately, and automatic gratuity was added. Well this is no problem, we were not given back our exact change and were short on what change was expected. It wasn't meant to be a tip because we were already charged for the tip. When we asked the manager about this, the waiter blamed us for not giving her enough money and that we were actually short on the bill, which wasn't true. I went to Thunder Burger for dinner and ordered the Buffalo Stomp burger. The burger had a bison meat patty, bacon, tomato, caramelized onions, lettuce, and blue cheese. The main reason I got it was because I wanted to try the bison burger. The bison tasted very similar to beef except it was a little less juicy and had a few more chewy spots. Blue cheese has a tendency to be overpowering, but there was a proper amount of cheese on this burger. The burger was a large portion, but small enough that I could comfortably eat it. It came with Thunder Fries, which were a bit above average for fries. The service speed was pretty quick and our waitress was very friendly. We came on a Friday night, but there were plenty of tables available to sit at. The restaurant has a lively yet not-too-loud atmosphere. They played some classic rock music at a reasonable volume. Overall, Thunder Burger is a very good choice for burgers. Props to them for offering some really unique choices like bison, boar, and elk burgers. There wasn't anything super exceptional about it that would warrant a 5 star review, but Thunder Burger is definitely a solid 4 star place. read more

The staff was very nice and efficient. The burgers are very large and seasoned very well. Much better than most other local burger places I have been to. The ability to customize your burger is really great and they have a wide selection of toppings including some really nice cheese options. The fries are also very good and the overall portion is wry large. We both got medium and it was cooked perfectly! I definitely would come back here again. I'm terms of price it is a bit high at $15 for the burger. I recommend sitting outside and enjoying Georgetown. read more

Honestly some of the worst nachos I've had. The cheese was scant at best, the chips were burnt, and I wasn't a fan of the chili. It was also kind of... watery so wasn't a good addition to the dish. They were also out of the first 3 beers I tried to order. This is an area with lots of options so I wouldn't return. Came here after the wizards game not too far of a drive. The Thunder Burger was delicious make sure you get it with apple wood smoke bacon my buddy had the Buffalo Stomp. Keep in mind Buffalo is leaner than cow so def a different taste as far as fat etc. The service wasn't the greatest a little slow however we got everything we asked for except I asked for pickles which I never got. The bar gets pretty packed as the night get later so come early for a family friendly experience. The fries were okay I wanna try the sweet potato next time. But even without the chili on it, my sole issue with the burger was the soggy bottom bun. At first I thought it was just mine, but upon inspection my wife's 'love me tender' burger bun suffered from the same fate. The fries, while also good, were also a bit on the limp soggy side. Came here because it was close by The Wing after learning the original plan got pushed back. I'm not familiar with this place and while I did not want to eat a burger on this visit, I figured I would enjoy other eats on the menu. My girlfriend and I sat a the bar and was greeted immediately. Our server was very cute and attentive. It was pretty busy for a Thursday night and the flow of traffic didn't seem to die down while we were there. We ordered the grilled wings (mild) and spinach & artichoke dip with peach margarita and red sangria. The grilled wings were very good as I expected and the dip was bland and lacked tons of flavor. It could use salt and it was warm and not hot. I took a few bites and told my girlfriend she wasn't missing out on anything. She continued to enjoy her wings and so did I. After sipping our beverages we left to go home. I will surely come back and order a burger next time. Best kept happy hour in Georgetown?! I came inside to escape the rain, and found myself a great time! To be aware in case it bothers you, (didn't bother me), the music is semi loud at least in the bar area. However, as the space filled out you could hear the music less and less. They have a good bar space with chairs that have backs which I appreciated. There are also hooks for your bags underneath the bar - it's the little things, guys! At happy hour you'll find filling snacks like nachos and chili fries and cold drinks at a great price. I had the chicken bites which had the perfect amount of buttermilk batter. Not too much, not too little! The bites were the right amount of crispy, and although they were fried, they were very light. The dish came with a side of roasted red pepper ranch, which was delicious! Great app - I shamelessly ate it all. I've also been here for dinner before and loved the burgers! I would rate it 5-stars, but my boo ordered a burger that had chili and when he got it we took the top bun off and there were 2-3 measly beans and it looked nothing like a burger that's supposed to have chili. I also ordered a martini that wasn't good at all. But, I learned that this is not a martini place and that's okay. I did ask them to remake it and it was better. The first experience had slow, disorganized service but at least the food was good. This time, the burger was way over-cooked (I got well done but this was hard and tasteless), taste of the onions was overwhelming, and service was slow (they said it would be ready for pick up in 15-20 minutes but it actually took 35 minutes). I'm very disappointed with the second experience as I thought the quality of the food would at least be consistent between dine-in and takeout but it was certainly not. The food was great here! First we ordered alcohol, which highly recommend the mango beer that was really good. We ordered the Loaded potato wedges and thunder burgers. The prices are pretty reasonable for the good burgers. The only reason why I am rating it 4 stars and not 5 is that the space is really crowded and small so it's hard to have more than 2 people. Seats are right next to each other so you are shoulder to shoulder with other people and can hear their conversations completely. Yum! BEST burgers. Even came rare as ordered by my husband. Delish sweet potato fries. My plant based burger was awesome, tasted char grilled. Cole slaw was a bit too vinegary for our taste. Food deserved 5 stars. Service deserves 3 stars....hopefully this was an exception, but my meal came out way before my husband's so we were left watching each other eat.
