Mediterranean Buddha Bowl

Cute place that uses an old train car as its dining area. It has about 8-10 booths and counter seats and has that diner feel. The menu is a mix of Buddha bowls, sandwiches and apps. All of it is plant-based. We tried their Mediterranean bowl and their sesame noodle bowl. The bowls also include a salad with fresh dressing. (I tried their fiery fig dressing. Both were delicious and full of flavor. They were a decent size, and I ended up packing some of my sesame noodles to bring home. When we walked in, it had one server for the whole place. Impressively, he was able to handle it all well. Of note: They make sure to tell you that everyone who works there makes above minimum wage and then shares the mandatory 20% charger (which they don't call a service charge).

Such a tiny cute restaurant! I've been meaning to come here for years because my friends kept talking about it. It's wonderful! As a recent diet change to vegetarianism it's the perfect place. I tried the fried cauliflower with bbq and it tasted so similar to chicken wings. I definitely recommend:)

Reuben with almond parm fries

Visited for a second time last June! It was just as great as the first. I got the BLT and my fiancé got the Reuben. We'll be back again next Solid Sound!!!

I'm still really impressed with Thrive and continue to come back for more! While staying at a resort for a week of hiking, shopping, and relaxing poolside in the Berkshires I finally had an opportunity to bring my wife to Thrive. We stopped in Wednesday evening around 5:30pm to catch dinner. During our visit we ordered two iced teas, and started out with a Crabby Cakes appetizer. The artichoke based cakes were seasoned perfectly, had a light sear on both sides, and were served with house made Thousand Island dressing. Next was our main course. My wife ordered the tofu tacos with barbecue sauce. She received three stuffed corn tortillas brimming with lightly breaded tofu chunks tossed in BBQ sauce and topped with fresh lettuce, cheese, and tomato. She ordered a side of fresh cut French fries but later said she'd should have ordered the rice and beans. I ordered a Reuben and in house made soy curl chick'n soup which was my backup side since my wife had already ordered the fries. The soup hit the spot and paired well with the greasy (appropriately) Reuben. Near the end of the meal we were offered a refill on our iced tea but instead we ordered a slice of Lemon cake to go. The experience Wednesday evening was so good the next day we ordered an entire takeout meal for our drive home. The fig and olive tapenade comes with four crostini, Buffalo cauliflower with celery, carrots, and house made blue cheez, the loaded potato bowl, and a tofu bacon BLT rounded out our order. Missing an opportunity the previous day I asked for rice and beans with the BLT. I was pleasantly surprised with the smokey, flavorful, and generous portion of the side. All menu items on the second day were delicious but I highly recommend the tapenade for a salty but sweet taste experience as well as the tofu bacon on the BLT exceeded my expectations.

i came here by myself around 5:00 on a thursday. So much to choose from! I had the falafel burger on a pretzel roll with a side of butternut squash soup. All excellent. The service (the owner) was great. This old diner (a former greasy spoon) had a neat, funky vibe to it. Overall a great experience. I highly recommend.

The Spot - Seed Bowl

The Spot is a nice neighborhood smoothie and bowl bar in a more industrial part of Pittsfield. In…read moreaddition to having a solid berry açaí base, our favorite part of the seed bowl was their bear butter (you can ask for this instead of straight up almond butter, free of charge). This enhanced almond butter is so complex, with layers of sweet and salty flavor and lots of superfoods. It was so delicious I immediately popped back in to buy a jar! The service was friendly and welcoming. There is a small lot on the side of the building and several parking lots on the street out front. I'd gladly come again to try other items or buy more jars of their amazing butter!

The smoothie I got the other day caught my eye on the menu since it had adaptogenic ingredients like ashwaganda, reishi & lions mane! It was made with oat milk (which I laaave now), vanilla protein, cocoa, turmeric & banana. So0o creamy, light & filling. I noticed this thing called Bear Butter was also being featured in many of their menu items, they even sell it in jars if you really love it. Only my way back down today, I was lucky to try a berry based bowl called Vonn which has the Bear Butter, double granola (gluten free avail), cocoa nibs, bee pollen & pumpkin seeds. Wow the butter is so0o tasty, it's got more flavor than just plain almond butter. The toppings make great for color & crunchy textures, this blend is super exotic & sad that I have not seen this in Jersey. Will miss this place but deff a recommendation!

The food also exceeded our expectations. The fried brussels sprouts and salmon were both superb and perfectly cooked. It was all edible, but there were problems with every single thing we ordered. We started with the marinated mushroom & sausage flatbread: one of the better items and fairly tasty with a tomato sauce base, could have used a tart element like a balsamic drizzle to wake it up a bit. My husband got the Korean bbq burger, which at $27 was honestly a bit insane and doubly so when it wasn't good. There's not a single thing that was wrong, the whole conception is an epic fail. A beef burger should not have an intense taste of soy. Sorry, harsh but true. The exorbitant price is insult to injury. The ham and cheese croquettes should never have been offered with the cinnamon sugar dusting. Another bizarre pairing that makes no sense in your mouth and adds nothing. The dijonnaise was good if a bit mild... amp up the savory flavor and put more ham in the mix with a touch more salt please. Finally, the Public Salad was a good base but needs a bit of a vinegar component to make it sing. I'd recommend red wine vinegar, just a small splash in the dressing. Overall enjoyed it and the chicken was adequately moist. Thank you for having us.

We decided to try this place one day for dinner since it changed hands into a 'Jamaican'…read morerestaurant a couple years ago. Formerly The Lantern, still a bar vibe/a bit dark inside. We both got the jerk chicken with greens. While we finished our dinner and it tasted good; I have several specific impressions and suggestions for improvement. First of all, both of our dinners could have arrived much hotter. They were more like "well warmed" in a microwave than truly hot- so I assume that's how they typically do it there. We were hungry enough not to send it back to be 'heated up' more -but they should be aware of how hot their food should be when presented to customers. Second, we love Jamaican food- goat curry/jerk chicken/oxtails, greens, etc. This chicken was seasoned + tasty; but the chicken honestly tasted like BBQ chicken much more than the jerk chicken I've had in any other restaurants. Finally- and in the end this was the worst issue, the gal who was our waitress either had never done a waitress job before, or was so poorly trained at this establishment that she literally had no idea what she should be doing/noticing/taking care of. At various points, this was frustrating (she didn't check on us at all), didn't seem to know if we needed more water/napkin,etc. mainly because she just didn't walk by the table/or stand back keeping a watchful eye on her table. At certain points, I heard her boss talking to her and telling her what to do next- but clearly she didn't even have a basic concept of what she was supposed to be doing. I waited tables a lot thru college and eventually I felt sorry for her lack of training in a job where you clearly represent the business. But, we were the only people in there for dinner, only 1 person drinking in the bar besides us. It was just unacceptable. We won't return-but would love to find good Jamaican food somewhere in the region. PS It was several months ago when we ate there, hopefully staff is consistently better trained now.
