I love going to this store it always has the prettiest flowers. Most of the staff is super niece and kind except for one lady. Sharon was a mean old lady. I asked her for help once and instead of helping me she just side eyed me and stuck her tongue out. I didnt find this very funny and I dont think she belongs at this store. When I bought flowers that were 30 dollars sharon charged me 60 and when I tried to correct her she called me dyslexic. I had a very disappointing experience with Thrifty Flowers. I ordered a sunflower arrangement from out of state for a friend whose dog had passed, but the website didn't allow special notes, and I received no confirmation when the order was sent. The arrangement that arrived was full of lilies which are deadly for pets, despite the sensitive situation. When I called, I was transferred multiple times (even to a driver) and told sunflowers were "out of season," so they substituted the arrangement without informing me. They promised a replacement and a refund review, but by Monday nothing had been done. The staff I spoke with were dismissive and unhelpful, saying they "don't work weekends" and could only "avoid" lilies but not guarantee anything. They said there was no way corporate would provide any concession or discount. In the end, I had to repay delivery fees, and the replacement arrangement was small and poor quality. Overall, the lack of communication, rude service, and unsafe substitution make me unable to recommend this florist--especially for sensitive occasions. read more

I purchased 3 bunches of tulips and was charged $29.99 a bunch instead of $9.99 a bunch. When I noticed they overcharged me by $60 they didn't know how to correct it so they said they would take care of it and call me and let me know the refund was completed. One star can sound harsh but I went a total to three times (yes I tried to like it) to this place because it was geographically convenient for me: Here is a brief summary because I could write much more about my negative experiences: * The place is not that busy (I understand why now), an average of 3-4 employees and 1 or 2 clients at most. Zero customer service, nobody will tell you "welcome, hi, can I help you..." * I placed an order for a bouquet arrangement for an anniversary that was not ready on time. I was told to come back in 30 minutes or so. When I came back, the lady who told me to wait was helping someone else and nobody was taking care of my flower arrangement. * The quality of the flowers is OK, nothing extraordinary. * They seem to have a few (very) young people working there who are not treated with lots of love (their kids? interns?) and who obviously do no seem to have a good time there. That was sad to witness... * The price...should be thrifty...right? Well, it is not... * On my last attempt to go there, I was in a hurry and I told myself, I do not care about the price, I will buy a simple bouquet and get out within a few minutes. Well, I waited 10 minutes to get some help, I was the ONLY customer in the store and 4 people working there (one making bouquet arrangement, one on her phone at the cashier and two ladies having a pretty good discussion in the back room so probably not working on something too demanding...). Nobody took care of me as I wanted to get a bouquet behind the glasses. I tried to look at everyone, no eye contact, returned to my car, promising myself that it was the last time I would go to this store under this current poor Management. By the way, I randomly found another florist 5 minutes from there, was welcomed with a smile when I entered the store with immediate help and advice for an actual "thrifty" price and a better quality of flowers. This place is just as the name says--thrifty. Went in to pick up some flowers on a Saturday. Not the best selection but I found some great, fresh tulips. Made a huge hit with the lady when I got home. Flowers are affordable. They took the time to arrange the tulips and spruce them up a bit. The staff were helpful and friendly. They deliver. I used to frequent this florist all the time and they gave me great service. However my son who is 16 went to buy flowers for his girlfriend for Valentine's Day. He's never bought flowers before so we trusted that Thrifty would take care of him. They sold him a dozen pink roses with brown ends on the petals which looked like they were bought at a gas station on sale. Arranged poorly too. They took advantage of a kid who didn't know better and was just buying flowers for the first time. I emailed my complaint with no response. Never going there again! read more

Wow. How the mighty (and reliable) have fallen. Thirfty had been my go-to florist for 15 years since I moved to the area. Unfortunately it was apparent customer service and their product has really taken a hit. I stopped in this afternoon for our anniversary bouquet. The sales woman (maybe girl as she qas quite young) was unfriendly and disrespectful in ignoring my questions and the pink roses I bought were in bad condition. She ignored my request to "clean them up" by removing the outer, dying petals (they used to do this as a matter of process before) and didn't even take the time to arrange the flowers. One lump of roses and one lump of baby's breath. Additionally, when I would ask a question she simply ignored me and kept repeating the total I owed her as if she could care less about my inquiry. Additionally, the last time I was in the roses died in 3 days (we used to get a good 10 out of them) so I question if they also changed suppliers and have an inferior product. Seriously Kroger flowers looked better last time I was at the grocery store. I've got a completed frequent buyer card (ironically, as I won't be frequent anymore) that I will use for a free dozen roses for one last go-round with Thrifty. That may be the last I see of them in a long time. It's a shame because they used to be so reliable and good customer service really is easy - just care about the person standing in front of you. read more

Terrible go somewhere else. I ordered a color specific corsage two days in advance and made it VERY clear what I wanted. When I went to pick it up it was totally wrong. This store is not service friendly at all. I will NEVER order from them again. It doesn't do any good to order what you want they make what they want. I would HIGHLY recommend to NEVER use this company! I walked in and looked around and when I didn't find what I was looking for, I asked the young girl working behind the counter if I could get 2 small arrangements in vases and the manager looked at me and VERY RUDELY said "can you just give us an hour!" I was never asked if I needed them right now or if I could pick my arrangements and come back for them. I am in from out of town due to a funeral. Since being here, another family member passed away. I went in to get an arrangement for the second funeral. A sweet woman named Katherine was an amazing help and took the time to help me with ideas that would fit within my budget. Out from the back, a woman named Sharon came out and in a very disgusted tone was asking Katherine how could I have spent a half hour (which wasn't even close) to come up with a tiny arrangement to which I responded, "so sorry to disappoint you." She then goes on to explain how she could have made something more beautiful (had I spent more money) to which I told her I would take my business elsewhere. I don't care if you are buying a boutonnières or a large arrangement- there is no excuse for making a customer feel degraded for the budget they are able to work within. read more

I needed an impressive yet not seriously expensive wreath for a grave site service honoring a hero of the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland interred at Holy Sepluchre in Southfield MI. Melody came through with flying colors--white, green & orange. Her wreath was a thing of beauty and lasted about a week graveside before the deer deconstructed it. Bought Flowers this morning at 8am. First off the woman did not speak the best English. After correcting her a few times on the address which she thought was Clarkston, Mi., rather than the local Birmingham address I gave her. I decided to call the store. once on the phone it was obvious the flowers had not made there destination yet and it was 4:10pm. Guess what? They still somehow sent them to Clarkston!! I could have walked from my work and delivered these valentines flowers on foot faster. Complete disappointment and a ruined Valentines day. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! I ordered flowers over the phone for a funeral. I was so embarrassed by what Thrifty Florist of Birmingham considered for $50. My total bill was $65 with delivery. They sent 3 roses, 4 carnations and greenery in a clear vase. I called the store a few days later to talk to management. The manager was out, and I was told she would return my call in two days. After a week I decided to call back. To add insult to my embarrassment the manager told me "the funeral home must have pulled some flowers out because it was much bigger when it left here." It couldn't have been any bigger of an arrangement in the bud vase that the flowers were in. The manager didn't wish to discuss it any further and offered a gift certificate for a future purchase. I guess I don't have to worry about any future embarrassment by their awful work as the certificate has yet to show up after one month. read more

I wanted to get an inexpensive bouquet for a friend who had done something nice for me so thought "I'll just go to Trader Joe's" but saw this Thrifty and pulled in. I had the BEST experience with Nidia there! I was able to find a beautiful and inexpensive bunch of flowers for about 10 dollars and brought it to the counter. She was busy but took the time to look at my flowers and found some in the bunch that were a little old looking. She took the time to replace them with fresh pieces and made the bouquet even better. I spent only 10 dollars in there but she treated me as if I had spent $1,000 and was so nice! Next time I need flowers, I'll go see Nidia first. read more

I have had simple little problems with Thrifty in the past. Just not great quality, but figured "you get what you pay for" and their prices are reasonable compared to other local florists. The most recent experience, however, requires a review. Our children ordered flowers for our anniversary to be delivered on the exact day. We were not home that day so, apparently, they gave them to the neighbor. They did not, however, leave any note on the door that would indicate this or instruct us to check with the neighbor. The following day, my daughter called me and then the florist to try and track down the delivery. The response was horrendous - hanging up on her with the first call. After several calls, the flowers were ultimately retrieved by a Thrifty employee and delivered to me. The quality of the flowers were terrible. My other daughter walked in that day and her first comment was, "Wow, those flowers look sad!" Because my first daughter was in tears on the phone by that time, my husband stopped into the store to deal with it. There was no one "high enough" to help him with the issue in the store. After more phone calls and arguing, my daughter finally received a "partial" refund back on the arrangement. They wanted to give her a merchandise credit - "because it would be easier for the store." Unfortunately, that would be of little use, as we are done using them. There are sometimes issues with merchandise - we get that. A sticker on the door indicating where the flowers had been left and an appropriate customer satisfaction response when that didn't happen and the flowers were poor quality would have remedied it. read more

I went in to buy some flowers and have them delivered to my wife's salon to surprise my wife it was about 1230 when I bought them and asked melody the manager can they please be delivered before 3 because my wife will be leaving work and my wife's salon is right down the street from this place and melody said to me they should for sure be there before 3 but the flowers did not get there until 4 o'clock which was after my wife had already left work I called melody to ask her y she would tell me they would get there before 3 when they didn't and she gave me a huge attitude over the phone she ruined a huge surprise from me to my wife and did not even care so my wife didn't get the flower until she walked into work 3 days later here's a tip for u melody when u have a paying customer u need to learn to accommodate that customer any way u can instead of being rude about the whole situation if I owned that place and u had a attitude with a customer like you did with me u would be fired in seconds read more
