The food was fantastic and when you're taking care of guests coming from outside of Kansas, they want to experience what metro BBQ is like. Black Belt really does a good job of it. Our ribs were fall-off-the bone juicy, the roasted corn was fantastic, the baked beans were exceptional. All of the guests commented on how good the food was and how it helped make the night memorable. They were able to get together a very large order on very short notice, as we let them know in the morning and they were ready for us that afternoon with a pickup, and the results simply could not be better.

The ribs were dry and overcooked, but the seasoning was good as it still came out. The veggie rice was surprisingly good, but the best part was the roasted sweet corn. Our new favorite BBQ!…read more I noticed Off The Hook as we were driving home one day from an errand on North Oak Trafficway. The exterior looked inviting and the parking lot seemed adequately busy, so I noted to my husband that we would have to check it out soon. Several days later we brought our infant and a friend and were warmly greeted by staff who explained the ordering process and instantly made us feel welcomed. We didn't have to wait for seating but it's was nice to see a local business like this pretty busy with patrons. We had a hard time figuring out what we wanted (it honestly all looked good) but decided on brisket nachos, a pulled pork loaded potato and burnt ends with fries and baked beans. When I say everything we ate was phenomenal I mean it rivaled a lot of the major local spots that people flock to in KC for BBQ. I also loved the sauces and did feel the regular/spicy had enough of a variation to appeal to differing tastebuds (I'm a spicy fan and while it wasn't the hottest I've had it had some bite.) Despite some other reviews on here we felt the price was a great value - especially on the nachos and potato - for the amount of BBQ/food. The Mac and cheese we ordered for our daughter was also some of the best we've had out of the house and as a Texan I loved the flavor of the queso on the nachos. We have since returned many times and the service and food have been consistently good. We have brought friends and family each time who similarly rave about the food and good people serving it - and many have returned on their own without us. We also recently took the chance to try their (weekday morning) breakfast burritos after salivating over them on the menu...WOW is all I can say. Worth every penny - huge and had tons of flavor. My dad is quite the foodie and could not stop raving about them. I hope this business continues to have lots of success/growth and that they continue serving up good food here in the northland (and beyond, if they please.) Such a wonderful local spot!

We have a BBQ team lunch every summer, and our usual spot is SLAPS (because we love SLAPS). This…read moreyear, we decided to switch things up and try Off the Hook BBQ after hearing some great reviews. Let's just say... we should have stuck with SLAPS. We brought a group of 15 people, so we had plenty of opinions at the table. Unfortunately, not one person left particularly impressed. The brisket was overcooked, and the rest of the BBQ was seriously lacking in smoke flavor. They were already out of ribs at 11 a.m., but we were told they'd have more ready in about 30 minutes. Sure enough, 30 minutes later, ribs appeared -- but they tasted like they had taken a detour through an oven rather than a smoker. Naturally, being a BBQ-loving group, we had to investigate. We looked outside for the smoker and found it... but the smoke stack looked like it had been on vacation. There was virtually no smoke smell outside or inside, which probably explained a few things. I know BBQ can have an off day, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. I'll probably give them another shot sometime because I'd genuinely like to see what all the good reviews are about. But for this visit, with 15 people in our group, the consensus was pretty clear: we should've gone to SLAPS. Hopefully next time the smoker is actually smoking.

We visited Zarda BBQ in Blue Springs on 08-06-2026 at 2:52 pm…read more Our nephew has been visiting us from Colombia and, after all of the places we have been the past three weeks, he said that Zarda BBQ was his favorite, so we wanted to treat him to the best before he departs for home. Our order taker was Donna T. At Zarda BBQ you order at the counter, they provide you with your receipt that has your number on it, and they call when your number/order is ready. They help brings items to your table if you like. We got the Meat Platter (includes 4 sides for $56.25) and we selected 2 orders of Fries and 2 orders of BBQ Baked Beans. The 1/2 lb sliced beef, 1/2 lb sliced ham, 5 oz sliced sausage, and 1/2 slab ribs were all delicious and wonderful. The fries were made to order as usual, were hot and crispy on the outside while being fluffy on the inside. The beans had a very good flavor, a slight peppery sweetish taste but great flavor. In addition we also got a #2 Rib Plate Dinner (includes 2 sides and medium soft drink for $22.00) and selections were Cheesy Potato Bake and Crispy Brussels, soft drink was Diet Dr Pepper. The ribs were perfect as expected. The Potato Bake was very flavorful and cheesy, potatoes good perfectly. The Crispy Brussels (Brussels sprouts) were cooked and seasoned very excellent, nicely crisped like under a broiler yet had moisture and texture to remain flavorful and very good. The Diet Dr Pepper was brixed perfectly and refills are free. In addition, we got a regular Thursday special 1/2 Chicken (includes one side on Thursday for $16.50) and the side chosen was Green Beans. The chicken was very nicely smoked and had a wonderful moistness to it, not dried out, very flavorful! The green beans were a good texture and nicely seasoned. To be sure we had sufficient to take home afterward, we also ordered a Full Slab of Ribs ($28.50) which, wow, today they were offering all ribs for 25% off!. I asked if that was a regular Thursday thing or something and Donna said no, it was something they offer periodically. Our lucky day! When we left at 3:52 pm, we ordered two more slabs to take home since that was such a great value. The ribs were all perfectly smoked, tender, pull slightly off the bone, not overcooked and not undercooked, My wife got water and our nephew got Dr Pepper. He said his Dr Pepper was perfect. The atmosphere was great, the personnel were all great as well. All attentive yet not overbearing. The restaurant was clean, no tables with dishes sitting around. When a table of customers left there was an employee promptly to clear the table. Restrooms were very clean and nicely appointed. We noticed a family that this was apparently their first day at Zarda BBQ. They did an excellent job explaining the menu and options available. Overall, a perfect visit to Zarda BBQ in Blue Springs. We will be returning again and recommend it. Also, they were able to remedy my VIP Club issue so that made things even better!
