I was so happy to see Roscoe's recently reopened. Best burnt ends and cheesy corn in KC and ribs are top 3 too. The spicy bbq sauce is pretty fantastic and a nice change from the sweet regular sauce. We always order to go and they are friendly and the orders are always correct.

Best ever cheesy corn. Meat in the baked beans. Melt in your mouth burnt ends. Too bad you can't ship to us in Florida.

I ordered the three rib plate, which include included burnt ends, and smoked sausage. I also had mac & cheese and a cornbread muffin as a side. The ribs were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The burnt ends had a good smoke flavor and we're very tender, but we're cold. The sausage was also a bit cold. The mac & cheese was cold and so the consistency was gummy. To be fair, I arrived close to 7 PM. I would come back and try it earlier in the night and would want to try some of the other offerings they have, because you can tell they do a good job with cooking their barbecue

We were a bit early to the dinner rush with our kids, and the place was empty with some muted TVs hovering around the atmosphere. We started with onion straws which was probably the best thing I had that night. Perfectly seasoned and lightly fried. I got the "Lightweight Platter" with two proteins and since ribs weren't an option, went brisket and chicken. Both were so dry they looked like Thanksgiving turkey once the Christmas lights are up. The edges were especially dry, to the point where I had trouble eating it. The flavor of the brisket was good, the chicken was not full of the smoky flavor one would hope for. To be perfectly honest, this felt like when I get BBQ well outside of Kansas City, not holding up against any of the classics or heavy hitters. My kids chicken tenders were surprisingly delicious (and moist), and made for nice leftovers too. So that was a plus. This ended up being our priciest meal of our little staycation, and unfortunately, one of the most forgettable. I see what they're going for, but until that meat gets raised up to a standard level for the midwest, I can't go much higher than 3 stars.

They had a bit of a later start but whatever. They have someone that gets up and starts cooking at like. 5am or something idk. Everyone who worked there was really friendly. I even got to meet one of the sisters who owns this. I've been told that this place was featured on Queer Eye? FYI, this is an outdoor shack kinda vibe going on. The building is just the kitchen. I'm not sure if they have a restroom or not but eating here can be a little challenging. They tried to set up a little handwash station but it froze over. I recommend bringing your own handwipes or something. I got the two meat plate with turkey and rib tips and a side of sausage and baked beans. I was expecting like. a turkey leg or something but turns out it was just ham.... that they smoked some more. Don't get me wrong, it was good but it just didn't feel that special. Which is fine if you're a local and can come whenever you want. but yeah idk. The rib tips honestly were a little cold and hard with not that much meat. Like some others have said, the sausage is pretty dry and crumbly... good flavor but the texture was a bit of a turn off for me. I wasn't satisfied so I got the burnt ends and potato salad. potato salad was just whatever but the baked beans were sooooo good. Maybe just cause it was hot... and it was freezing so it was nice and warming. But I was happily surprised at the bits of meat and peppers? and other things inside the baked beans. it wasnt just. beans. like most places do it. The BURNT ENDS. had a ton of smoke flavor and had crispy bits and tons of fat and was just. amazing in general. Would come back just for this. They're trying to do a BBQ vending machine... cool and all but I feel like there's always gonna be some a hole who will mess with it... they gotta put that in a friggin cage. I hope this place is able to succeed and expand their business / maybe move to a better location.

I got a platter of two meats and a side and I got the burnt ends and their famous sausage along with a side of beans. I also wanted fries but they were out and they were out of all of their sauces except this coconut/pineapple which I was supposed to get on the side but I never got. I did buy a bottle of their hot sauce for myself and everybody else to try at the table and it was decent. The burnt ends were lukewarm and very chewy and tough in the middle yet crispy on the ends at least. The sausage link was tasty but it was cold. The beans were the best part. They were hot and delicious but It was a tiny little portion. I didn't want to be that guy to complain and I think others in our group were in the same situation and we just kind of went with it. I don't know if this was just a bad day to go but was during normal lunch hours. It took about 30 minutes to get there so I probably won't go back for a second helping.

We shared a variety of dishes, including nachos, sandwiches, and a few Rashee plates. My personal favorites were the ribs, cornbread, and collard greens. The nachos were perfect for sharing and disappeared quickly. The kids loved the mac and cheese and cornbread, while the guys couldn't get enough of the burnt ends. In general, I think BBQ is often freshest during lunch hours, but we still had a fantastic reunion dinner. The manager even stopped by our table to check on us and shared a bit of the restaurant's history, which was a nice touch. Our family had a great evening and a memorable meal!

I saw many tables being taken care of by waiters, and even the store manager coming out and doing his part for those sitting at tables near ours. Our table, for some reason, was being covered by the bartender. He did stop by... but had a weird vibe of trying to be our buddy. He did not act or look like staff. But he did take the order and deliver the food. I think we are going to go with 3 stars. Ambiance - Well, the design is nice enough. There is no personality, and the building could be utilized for any kind of eatery with little to no changes. Normally, that would get a standard 3-star... dropping it to a 2-star in this case because this is to be a BBQ place... and the smell of smoked, roasted meat... is seriously missing. Food - Again, nothing wrong with it. In fact, the flavour of our sides was actually rather good. So 4 stars... except... Everything, as a side, either came from a tub or a frier. I began to be seriously suspicious of the BBQ, the sides, and the kitchen on mass. It is almost as if everything is preportioned somewhere else and just used a suvied, frier, or grill, to make it plate-ready. So we are gonna drop to 3-stars. I also noticed that they have whiskey, bottles, and cans. No taps. Though they do serve all drinks in a glass. The whole place gave me a vibe of a quick setup that they could pick up and leave at any time. To wrap this up... If this BBQ place were somewhere else, it would get rated rather high. But this is Kansas City. There is MUCH better BBQ, cheaper, just down the road... no, it doesn't matter which road. My honest opinion... this is a half-hearted attempt at a BBQ restaurant and more of a quickly tossed together venture to capitalize on area BBQ. Spend your money at a real BBQ place and let this chain go back to the areas that don't really know any better. (See Dickey's).
