Strawberry Cheesecake Funnel Cake with Vanilla Icecream

I got to try Kiylee's Kakes at the STL tacos and tequila festival last weekend and it was SO GOOD. I had been craving a funnel cake all summer and this one delivered. So nice to see the owner working behind the counter. She was so sweet. Cute little food truck too!

BEST FUNNEL CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD! That's big y'all! I'm a funnel cake connoisseur, if I do say so myself. This beat ever festival, carnival, etc. I found them in AT Home's parking lot in Lee's Summit on a Saturday! First, I love that the funnel cakes come in sizes. My mom and I decided to split a medium Oreo Dream Kake. This funnel cake had Oreos, cream cheese glaze, chocolate syrup , Cookies and Cream ice cream, and whip cream! When I opened the box and so this perfectly presented funnel cake I knew I made the right choice. The warmth from the cake mixed with the cold ice cream took me out! Like the blessings I felt with every bite was overwhelming. So much so ... that we ate the whole thing with no regrets what so ever about the amount of calories we were consuming lol. I can only hope to run into this food truck again and again! If I see them, I'm letting y'all know now that I'm pulling up with the quickness.

I can only review for what I ate at a friend's recent wedding, so I have no idea how pricing or…read moreworkers or any of the business side goes. However, this was some of the MOST DELICIOUS food I've ever had at a wedding. Huge variety of fruit (blackberries!), a gigantic spread of different crackers and cheeses, 3 types of bruschetta bar, grilled asparagus, mushroom, tomatoes and zucchini, artichoke hearts stuffed with spinach/artichoke dip (addictive), butternut squash ravioli in a butter/sage sauce...this was all I ate, and I know there were a few options with salmon in them as well. As a vegetarian, it's nice to know there are really delicious catering options that large amounts of people will love, even if they are meat-eaters (not that I'll be getting married in the next 30 years or anything)...If you find yourself at an event catered by Classic Catering, consider yourself lucky!

The quality, taste and price beats any other catering options in the Overland Park/Lenexa area. They arrive early or on time EVERY TIME, their presentations are ALWAYS complimentary to the meal being served and always taste delicious. In particular, I have consistently ordered the Champagne Chicken & Mexican Fiesta (w/Chicken Fajitas) and they have never failed me. For the private event, it was a 70th birthday party at a friend's home. Every guest was impressed with their professionalism, the food and the set-up. I echo the previous poster's comment that if you are lucky enough to attend an event catered by Classic, consider yourself lucky! Additionally, I worked at a company where Classic catered every Holiday Party and again, I highly recommend them for all of the above reasons. Lastly, a special thank you to Spence & Jan! They are always a pleasure to work with!

The five-course meal, crafted by a remarkably talented chef using a variety of techniques from their farm, was beautifully executed in a surreal indoor-outdoor setting. Every dish was spectacular, and the beverage pairings were creative and perfectly curated. The owners' labor of love is evident from start to finish, making this a true gem in the Lawrence/Lecompton area. Our guests from Leawood, Kansas said they would gladly make the drive back anytime to experience another one of these magical culinary evenings.

We arrived on the farm (after our Ford GPS took us a wonky route along a few miles of dirt road--so make sure you stay on paved roads and you won't have trouble--I was told by Kristin, our host and one of the owners, that Google Maps has no problem). I have to share our experience in detail because I feel we discovered a new must-visit experience in the KC area! We arrived at the 30-acre farm, parked in the field, and were greeted by our server who welcomed us warmly and offered us an arrival cocktail to sip while we explored the truly lovely grounds, pond, and nearby goats. After our leisurely stroll, we returned to the dining pavilion and found our seats at the gorgeous (and massive!) live-edge dining table along with a menu specifically for this weekend. Our gracious host Kristen and server brought out our first drink pairing, a minted lime seltzer that was refreshing and light. Our first course arrived--Blue Jade cornbread with arugula, sweet pea salad, and chicken liver paté. The cornbread was unlike any I had before and was absolutely delicious. The sweet pea salad was literally bursting with flavor the peas were so fresh and the chicken liver paté out of this world. Such an interesting flavor profile and combination. The next beverage pairing arrived a short time later as we enjoyed the perfect evening, a blackberry purple basil shrub. This drink was also delicious and refreshing (and save that blackberry for last--what a treat!). The Mangalista pig, we were told, is the "wagyu of pork" and the crisp, tasty, marbled pork chop was excellent. It was served with a beet "kimchi" with fennel root and a sheep cheese dumpling that was creamy and flavorful. Finally, our coffees were served and a dessert of yellow squash cake, lemon honey ice cream with mulberry compote was brought to us. Again, the dish was original, delicious, and a perfect ending to our meal. We can't wait to come back and have try a new menu in the future. Such a perfect evening and the chef has such an exciting vision for hyper-local farm-to-table flavors and dishes.
