We were immediately greeted by Sean and he was professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. We drove from Nevada, so he knew we coming. He had gathered all our information the day prior and the car was ready for a test drive when we got there. We decided to purchase the car and he told us to sit tight and showed us to, the waiting room with, snacks and drinks. (this was really nice because we had not stopped for food). After about 20-30 minutes the finance person came in and we went to his office and signed all the papers. He reviewed them all with us and then we went out to the car. In November 2017, my wife and I purchased a 2014 GMC Sierra from Thompson's. The buying experience was pleasant enough. ( when you pay close to their price). At the time we also purchased an extended service plan. Last week while backing out of a driveway the steering wheel started making a racket. It seemed to grind up metal when I tried to maneuver it to a parking space. Now I live on a twisty portion of hwy 49. If it came apart then I probably would not be writing this review. I had it towed to a nearby GMC dealer for repair. I received a call today from the repairing dealer informing me that GMC Premier Protection Plan would not pay for the repair because of the terrible repair work done previously. The bill would be at least $1,000. Unfortunately for Thompson and the GMC warranty folks I have a repair document from Thompson's describing how the steering column bearing was replaced twice. Upshot of all of this is that it looks like I may need good legal representation. Buyer be aware read more

Third time tires weren't rotated as requested and paid for. Marked tires last 2 services and same tires on same wheels. Over 50$ for 20$ air filter + labor when advertised 12$ and some change for replacement. Have attempted to do the whole dealer service thing but it's so over priced and if they don't rotate the tires you payed to have rotated what else are they cutting corners over. Will be going to Duerelles auto from now on where at least I know they do what they say without charging an arm and a leg. The whole dealer service idea is a scam. read more

Bought a 2109 BMW from this dealership. The experience overall was good, but within a day the breaks started making noise. I emailed immediately and was told that can often be normal when a car has been sitting and it's rainy. It was a rainy summer, so I gave them the benefit of knowing their business. After multiple months the noise only got worse, I took it in and found it needed new front and rear breaks. It was almost $4,000 for the repair. I emailed and was told there was nothing they could do. I was told I could bring the car back to them to look at, but I came from out of town and it's crazy to ask me to drive a car multiple hours with known bad breaks to them! Obviously safety wasn't their priority. Who sells a car without making sure it's safe or at least offering something for their poor service knowing it cost me. Obviously not a thorough check before selling the car. Their response was "we could've done better and will do better in the future" but they have the opportunity to do better now and remedy the situation. They constantly choose not to. The excuse was they don't hold vehicles w/o a signed agreement and We offered to put down a deposit etc to hold the vehicle while the ck was issued and overnighted from our credit union. We did all we could to partner with this dealership but it was evident they weren't happy with our decision that wasn't inline with their spiff program. My bf sent ALL of his financial information to someone yesterday so that they would have a chance to review it all before we made the 45 minute drive from Sacramento. We arrived today and the person, Shawn that had been helping him via email wasn't even there. After a bit of a wait, (about 15 minutes) they finally sent Fred out to where we were in the lot looking at trucks. He mumbled some stuff and walked away. We eventually went back into the office area where we waited for 20 minutes without Fred or anyone saying ANYTHING to us at all. I was ready to walk out but my bf is much more patient and wanted to wait. Eventually Fred came over and said they were waiting on some finance information. My bf explained that he sent all of this yesterday to avoid a long wait and asked how much longer. Fred said ‍ and walked away! So again we were waiting about 20 minutes until a finance guy came out and said essentially the same thing. My bf asked how much longer, we had other things to do today....he gave the same ‍ response. So, after almost 2 hours of waiting and not one person there caring one bit, we finally left! They didn't even let us test drive the truck to see if it was even worth waiting this long for! All this time the man whom I assume was the manager kept looking over at us waiting and walking away! Not one time did he approach us to say hi, to check if we were being helped, he just walked in circles around the office! Also, there were only 2 other couples there, so it's not like they were crazy busy! They had sales people sitting around, yet no one seemed one bit concerned about helping us out! I have a SERIOUS problem with people wasting my time, we were clear before we came up that we didn't have a lot of time and needed the information to be ready when we got there. There was ZERO sense of urgency or customer service at this dealership! I understand if they're unable to make a deal, but they could have just said that instead of being SO rude and just wasting hours of our time!! While stopped at a gas station across Highway 50, the child lock on the door jammed and we were unable to close the door. Despite assistance from other travelers we were unable to continue our travel as the door would not close. I've had issues with them three times in a period of over two years. Tried to sell me a new battery and we had just bought one a week before. I purchased a used vehicle from Thompsons Buick & GMC yesterday. I was pleased with the vehicle but the reason Im writing the review is because of my experience. Ive purchased and helped purchase many vehicles over the years and my least favorite thing to do is make the initial call to the dealership or selling party. I typically get the "come test drive it" or "we dont negotiate over the phone" speech. I under why dealerships do this but it can be annoying especially when you have to drive far to see the vehicle. I called Thompsons and spoke to Brian W. and I gave him my price on a used vehicle they had in stock. I didnt try to low ball him but better yet gave him a fair price and put my best foot forward. I told him if they would "entertain" that offer, I would come down to see the vehicle otherwise I would pass and move along to the next car on my list. Brian asked if he could call back and said he understood my situation and it was a simple offer they could accept or decline. I got a call back after about 20mins saying they would entertain the offer if I came within 24hrs. We ended up purchasing the vehicle that day, and we were in and out within 1hr. Buying, selling a car can be stressful. Sometimes even demoralizing and exhausting. My experience with the entire Thompsons Buick & GMC Dealership was easy, fast and friendly.
