Contacted a sales agent and inquired about a particular used car. We discussed the price and also discuss a trade. The salesman requested details regarding the trade and to send pictures since we were doing this over the phone. A week has gone by, no follow up or phone call (I have proof). We contacted the dealership to find out what was their deal. They requested a credit app to be completed. Once completed, to our surprise it appears they raised the price of the car we were interested in. When inquiring about this new mysterious price, we were told the price was a sale price and is no longer. How can this be? We have been going back and forth on this car deal and all of sudden, oh the sale price is no longer available? However, a sale price of a new 2020 Buick is available as an alternative option?! Absolutely horrible business practice. It's something one would see on an investigative news TV show, absolutely unbelievable. Some would call this bait n switch. AVOID this dealership! It appears they just want to sell you a new 2020 Buick. I doubt it's a misunderstanding, we saved our conversation (again have proof) and if there was a misunderstanding, why didn't you contact us to clarify? Is it because there is nothing to clarify? Would it be because you raised the price of the used car in the middle of a deal and steer us towards a 2020 Buick. Really shameful and your sales agent should be embarrassed on how he handled this used car deal. Please don't ask us to call a general sales number for a sales manager with no contact name. Don't say something you don't mean just for public viewing. read more

Do not trade in your vehicle if you owe any money on a loan. I purchased a 80K GMC Yukon more than a month ago and they have yet to payoff my vehicle which I traded in. Today, I am late on my next payment of my vehicle which I traded in, and my bank said that I am responsible. Today, I made a payment on a vehicle that I technically don't own. Thompsons not finishing our business is about to affect my credit score. They are not operating responsibly. I have contacted their head of finance over a week ago, and I contacted them again today. No response. I also contacted the salesman a week ago, no response. When they sold me a new truck, they requested that I give them a score of 10 out of 10, along with a positive review when GM sent me their survey. I gave them a 10. My advice is do not ever give a car dealer a review prior to everything being completed. Today, I am taking my case to General Motors. If they are not responsive, I will file a lawsuit against the dealership. I have purchased no less that 25 new cars in my life. This is the first time that a dealer did not do the right thing. read more

Haven't bought a truck in 10 years, and was in need of one quickly. After searching online which is not my normal route, I found the one truck that fit all the check off boxes at Thompsons Buick GMC. I contacted Johnathon Carr over the phone, and he helped me within minutes obtain a great deal, credit approval for a loan, and set up a purchase the very next day. If you ever had a bad experience buying a vehicle, you certainly won't with this dealership. They all work together to make the process streamlined, and a pleasure to work with. Go see Johnathon, very professional, quick and efficient person to work with, you won't regret it! Five star Dealership :) read more

Not a fan of this place, first thing is the people were nice but that was about it. Our experience was not good to say the lease. Our first trip up there from the bay area (2hr drive) we scheduled to see a certain SUV and we arrived early and they were in the process of selling that very SUV. Even tho we were very mad about this is seemed lucky for us a better car came in as we were about to leave. So we got the info for that car and set another appointment to get that one. Long story short 8 days later and another wasted 2hr trip up there they keep giving us the run around saying it's not ready and we just found it sold to another person. And the topper was I actually went to high school with someone who worked there and that didn't even help. They were nice but there customer service sucks, sorry but it did. read more

We were immediately greeted by Sean and he was professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. We drove from Nevada, so he knew we coming. He had gathered all our information the day prior and the car was ready for a test drive when we got there. We decided to purchase the car and he told us to sit tight and showed us to, the waiting room with, snacks and drinks. (this was really nice because we had not stopped for food). After about 20-30 minutes the finance person came in and we went to his office and signed all the papers. He reviewed them all with us and then we went out to the car. Sean set me up with onstar and told me to call with any questions or concerns. Such a great experience! read more

gm has even sent letters to dealers to quit making gm look bad with dealer markups but thompsons still wants a $10,000.00 dollar markup - non negotiable !!! way to support your local customers. . . sooo greedy dont get "malled' by this dealer - drive to another dear as i did and save a lot !!! read more

In November 2017, my wife and I purchased a 2014 GMC Sierra from Thompson's. The buying experience was pleasant enough. ( when you pay close to their price). At the time we also purchased an extended service plan. Last week while backing out of a driveway the steering wheel started making a racket. It seemed to grind up metal when I tried to maneuver it to a parking space. Now I live on a twisty portion of hwy 49. If it came apart then I probably would not be writing this review. I had it towed to a nearby GMC dealer for repair. I received a call today from the repairing dealer informing me that GMC Premier Protection Plan would not pay for the repair because of the terrible repair work done previously. The bill would be at least $1,000. Unfortunately for Thompson and the GMC warranty folks I have a repair document from Thompson's describing how the steering column bearing was replaced twice. Upshot of all of this is that it looks like I may need good legal representation. Buyer be aware read more

Great customer service. Victor and Mike took really great care of us. Victor bent over backwards for us. We love our new Tahoe!

Best car buying experience. I can't say enough how great my experience was, the staff here were genuine people that really do care about getting you the best deal and making Your buying experience easy and comfortable. I left the place not only with a new car but feeling like they worked out options for me to get the best possible rates. Our associate kris was in constant contact with me to answer my questions, I had plenty, and live 150 miles away and wanted not to waste a long drive, he was more than patient and had the vehicle pulled up for me upon arrival. He also called around to get me a better deal than the one I brought to him. Eddie took care of my paperwork and got me another great deal to insure the aesthetics in and out of the vehicle for virtually nothing. I can't say enough great things about this place and highly recommend this team if you're looking for a great experience and value. read more

Third time tires weren't rotated as requested and paid for. Marked tires last 2 services and same tires on same wheels. Over 50$ for 20$ air filter + labor when advertised 12$ and some change for replacement. Have attempted to do the whole dealer service thing but it's so over priced and if they don't rotate the tires you payed to have rotated what else are they cutting corners over. Will be going to Duerelles auto from now on where at least I know they do what they say without charging an arm and a leg. The whole dealer service idea is a scam. read more

I wasn't looking forward to a new car buying experience, but Johnathon Carr (sales) was great. He was very knowledgeable about the technology in the cars. He had immediate answers for all the questions we had and really knew the product he was selling. Great customer service and he made the process, that would normally be very tedious, an enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend Thompson of Placerville if you're looking for a new car. read more

I had been looking on the internet for the past 30 days for a new or newer GMC truck. I left an inquiry about a truck I was interested in on a Sunday evening, Sean Sullivan called me back promptly when they opened on Monday morning at 9:00am. We had all the necessary paperwork completed in 2 hours via texts and phone calls. Tyler followed up with a couple of financing options and the truck arrived at the front door of my home at 1:00pm with a complimentary bottle of wine! Awesome!!!! I signed all the necessary paperwork on the driveway with Mike and then my old truck was driven away. In all my years of buying vehicles I have never encountered such a smooth buying process. I would buy from them again. Thank you! Mark M. read more

I recently purchased a 2022 Yukon SLT. Big shout out to Johnny he was extremely responsive along with great customer service. I actually live over 300 miles away and he was able to send me a video about 15 minutes after we first spoke of the vehicle I was interested in. Top-notch service! Johnny even went out of his way to meet at the airport with the vehicle so we drive back home. I highly recommend contacting Johnny for any GMC needs!!!! read more

Just purchased our first GMC - and we are over the moon with our new 2022 Yukon XL! Johnny Carr made what could have been a tricky purchase these days -what with the shortage on new vehicles- the easiest transaction we have ever had buying a vehicle. The family oriented dealership was equipped with my kids favorite snacks which took the stress off this mama! Thanks Johnny for finding the car we had our hearts set on and making this such an easy purchase! read more

Agreed to purchase a vehicle from this dealership and because we had secured our own financing and didn't use their banking partner, they chose to not sell the car to us. The excuse was they don't hold vehicles w/o a signed agreement and We offered to put down a deposit etc to hold the vehicle while the ck was issued and overnighted from our credit union. We did all we could to partner with this dealership but it was evident they weren't happy with our decision that wasn't inline with their spiff program. STAY CLEAR of this dealership unless being mistreated is ok with you. read more

My bf sent ALL of his financial information to someone yesterday so that they would have a chance to review it all before we made the 45 minute drive from Sacramento. We arrived today and the person, Shawn that had been helping him via email wasn't even there. After a bit of a wait, (about 15 minutes) they finally sent Fred out to where we were in the lot looking at trucks. He mumbled some stuff and walked away. We eventually went back into the office area where we waited for 20 minutes without Fred or anyone saying ANYTHING to us at all. I was ready to walk out but my bf is much more patient and wanted to wait. Eventually Fred came over and said they were waiting on some finance information. My bf explained that he sent all of this yesterday to avoid a long wait and asked how much longer. Fred said ‍ and walked away! So again we were waiting about 20 minutes until a finance guy came out and said essentially the same thing. My bf asked how much longer, we had other things to do today....he gave the same ‍ response. So, after almost 2 hours of waiting and not one person there caring one bit, we finally left! They didn't even let us test drive the truck to see if it was even worth waiting this long for! All this time the man whom I assume was the manager kept looking over at us waiting and walking away! Not one time did he approach us to say hi, to check if we were being helped, he just walked in circles around the office! Also, there were only 2 other couples there, so it's not like they were crazy busy! They had sales people sitting around, yet no one seemed one bit concerned about helping us out! I have a SERIOUS problem with people wasting my time, we were clear before we came up that we didn't have a lot of time and needed the information to be ready when we got there. There was ZERO sense of urgency or customer service at this dealership! I understand if they're unable to make a deal, but they could have just said that instead of being SO rude and just wasting hours of our time!! So unless you have hours of time to sit around a dealership to be ignored, I suggest you visit a different dealership Updated to add: No, no one from the dealership has contacted me directly at all. There have been SEVERAL emails and phone calls to my partner asking him to remove my review, but not one person has contacted me regarding my review. read more

Best and easiest car buying experience ever. The service and attention to detail provided by Sean is uparallelled. No hard sell, no pushy tactics from Sean whatsoever . Thank you for saving us Eddie, Craig & Jesse! We had a terrible experience with another company and needed to get out of that deal. We should have just gone with Thompson's from the get go as the GMC Denali Diesel is the most beautiful and reliable truck on the market. We learned our lesson and will be buying cars here in the future! The customer service and experience here is 2nd to none! They go absolutely above and beyond in every aspect, they do not hide fees they do not cut corners and they do not scam their customers. These are the guys you want to buy a car from. We could not be more happy to give our business to them and support such a great company and team! Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for making this experience a great one!! read more

We just bought our GMC Yukon Denali from Jimmy and his staff. The customer service was great, even delivering our new baby to our driveway. This is not our first GMC but this is our first perfect buying experience. Other than a quick trip to see and drive the truck, everything was done from the comfort of our home. Jimmy was also able to secure an ultra low rate based on our good credit. Would highly recommend Thompson's for a great experience. read more

Thompsons GMC - Auto Repair Near Me - Placerville, California

We recently purchased a vehicle from this dealer. We found the car online, and then met their drivers in Reno for a courtesy pickup. ALOT of issues were not disclosed on this vehicle. We were distressed to find two big dents in the car. The passenger window doesn't roll down. The HORN doesn't work. The front end was out of alignment. Seriously, we really were misled about the condition of this vehicle. I really can't recommend anyone buy a vehicle here. read more

If all dealerships were like this one, I'd happily return to horse and buggy. Some of the rudest people in customer service work at Thompson's in Placerville. I think they have this attitude that they are doing you a favor, after all, where else you gonna go in Placerville? They are by far the most expensive place in town to do business with, and the least honest, with absolutely no regards for quality and detail. I would never purchase a vehicle or have service done at this dishonest establishment. Consider yourself warned! read more

Bought a 2109 BMW from this dealership. The experience overall was good, but within a day the breaks started making noise. I emailed immediately and was told that can often be normal when a car has been sitting and it's rainy. It was a rainy summer, so I gave them the benefit of knowing their business. After multiple months the noise only got worse, I took it in and found it needed new front and rear breaks. It was almost $4,000 for the repair. I emailed and was told there was nothing they could do. I was told I could bring the car back to them to look at, but I came from out of town and it's crazy to ask me to drive a car multiple hours with known bad breaks to them! Obviously safety wasn't their priority. Who sells a car without making sure it's safe or at least offering something for their poor service knowing it cost me. Obviously not a thorough check before selling the car. Their response was "we could've done better and will do better in the future" but they have the opportunity to do better now and remedy the situation. They constantly choose not to. I do not recommend. read more

On a Sunday the beginning of March we were driving through Placerville in a renal Yukon. While stopped at a gas station across Highway 50, the child lock on the door jammed and we were unable to close the door. Despite assistance from other travelers we were unable to continue our travel as the door would not close. After a brief google search we were delighted to find out there was a GMC dealer literally 0.1 miles away. Our relief was quickly gone when we realized the service center was closed. Then Alex & Tyler came to our rescue! The came to assist despite not being service employees. They found tools and fixed the jammed door. Then they refused payment and said they were just glad to help. Not often you find service like this. Thanks so much! You saved our vacation with kindness! read more

I purchased a used vehicle from Thompsons Buick & GMC yesterday. I was pleased with the vehicle but the reason Im writing the review is because of my experience. Ive purchased and helped purchase many vehicles over the years and my least favorite thing to do is make the initial call to the dealership or selling party. I typically get the "come test drive it" or "we dont negotiate over the phone" speech. I under why dealerships do this but it can be annoying especially when you have to drive far to see the vehicle. I called Thompsons and spoke to Brian W. and I gave him my price on a used vehicle they had in stock. I didnt try to low ball him but better yet gave him a fair price and put my best foot forward. I told him if they would "entertain" that offer, I would come down to see the vehicle otherwise I would pass and move along to the next car on my list. Brian asked if he could call back and said he understood my situation and it was a simple offer they could accept or decline. I got a call back after about 20mins saying they would entertain the offer if I came within 24hrs. We ended up purchasing the vehicle that day, and we were in and out within 1hr. Buying, selling a car can be stressful. Sometimes even demoralizing and exhausting. My experience with the entire Thompsons Buick & GMC Dealership was easy, fast and friendly. I would definitely recommend this dealership for anyone who is looking to purchase a new/used Buick or GMC. They are well worth the drive out of Sacramento. Thank you for a pleasant experience...
