Edit 4/22/2026 - once again Thompson promises and delivers 10/10 for service! I came home from a long vacation and my 2024 X5 was completely dead. I called Thompson for a tow and they sent a lovely gentleman named Gregg to rescue it. He showed up in an impeccably kept Thompson labeled flatbed truck and greeted me at my door. The communication from start to finish was excellent, and the service was incredibly efficient - Gregg called and texted me to let me know his ETA. He arrived right when he said he was going to and quickly got the car running. He did note some error lights inside the car so he decided to tow it back to Thompson anyway to make sure that any fault codes were cleared and resolved before I took the car back out. He and I exchanged some chat and banter and off he went. Unfortunately, I was not able to buy this X5 from Thompson because of availability at the time of my desired purchase, but, with every experience I've had with them since then, I will never buy another BMW at any other dealer besides Thompson. That includes having my vehicles serviced by them as well. They always have organized, polite, and efficient service advisors. And I have not yet felt any pressure to buy anything from Thompson that was not warranted. Always a wonderful experience and yesterday was just another testament to how wonderfully efficient and professionally the business runs. I'm an insurance agency owner and, as a small business, I strive to provide the levels of service that Thompson provides their customers. Well done again! Service is horrible at this dealership. I took my car in and the person checking me must have not wanted to work so they didn't include an issue I have been having for months. It was suggested to make another appt if it persists. It has been persisting since Feb and it has been a chore to even get an appt. Then I get a report as I am leaving texted to me with items I would have opted in for. I am fuming. We were looking for a convertible used, newer car and had been to 5 other dealership prior to going to Thompson. Jay came outside and met us and asked how he could help. We explained what we were looking for g for and he said he didn't have exactly that but would keep an eye out and call us if something came up through. He was the only salesman who asked for out info and specific what we were looking for. With in a week he found it and we purchased it. Where do I even begin? Out of roughly 5 times I've ever stepped foot in the place, I think I've encountered a friendly employee once, ONE TIME. I've always felt like I, and my questions are a burden to them. Seems like they're just annoyed they even have to be there. Each time I've been there, I've encountered some sort of issue. Today, I took my X5 in for scheduled service with a loaner and they thought a Toyota Corolla was an acceptable and comparable choice. We just had 10" of snow 3 days ago, not to mention, it's TINY, clearly not comparable in size or ability. Also, I was to have the car for a minimum of 3 days. They were quick to offer a Rav4, unfortunately, I was already over the edge with my first several negative experiences prior to this, so it was too little, too late. I'm sick and tired of their miserable employees in the service department and will NOT be taking my car back here for service ever again. We purchased the car there as well and we won't purchase here again either. We've had many different cars over the years and have aways had excellent service departments at each dealership, this is a first for us. this place has gone down hill since I first started buying vehicles here. between management (far worse than before) sales that do not know what's going on. the trash talking by managers that you can hear them talking more about employee. in all my years coming here I have never experienced that until now. I don't know what thomoson is doing but it's really bad. it seems like a divided group and a lot of tension you can clearly feel it especially when coming back with numbers. you have all the managers there and the only one to get up was the guy with brown hair and he looked at my trade. all the others are lazy.i even asked my sales guy to get one and he said they were all busy but they instead were talking crap or on their phones. Only the guy with brown hair was running around so I understand him busy. 0/10 Dealership. Terrible. I purchased my 2018 X1 from this dealership about a year ago. A month after buying it, I heard a rattling noise and decided to take the car in since the noise was persistent. The mechanic found there was a stick stuck in my exhaust (charged me $195 to take it out....) and also discovered that my X1 has a broken engine mount. Mind you, this car is 6 years old - and I've had this car for 38 days. How in the 38 days that I've had the car, has the engine mount broke? The service advisor explained that we would have to wait to hear back from the salesman on getting the engine mount replaced...... Well, that was yesterday. Haven't heard from the salesman at all, and when I called, they didn't answer - nor did they return my call at any point of the day. I decided to call back the service advisor to get an understanding of what is going on - and now they're not answering, or returning calls. Seems like this dealership excels in giving you the run around. Bad customer service. Update - They did end up replacing that engine mount, but now another engine mount has gone bad! The service advisor I spoke with today shared they would replace it out of warranty since it just failed again, then 10 minutes after that call was over I got a text saying they wouldn't replace it out of warranty. After speaking with my service Advisor, Gwen, she shared the man I spoke with didn't know what he was talking about, and I would have to pay $1600 out of pocket to fix this reaccuring issue. I am never returning to this location, and I would advise anyone shopping to buy a BMW to go to another dealership. Service has seemed to go downhill. I've been with them for years. They have switched out our tires twice yearly without a problem. Now I find that my Carfax shows that the tires were replaced every 3000 miles.I called to as them to update the Carfax and they told me that there was no problem. Also they claimed to match Tirerack prices, b ut actually were over $100 per tire more. read more

A year ago we ordered a new X7 from Thompson, both for the vehicle and the longtime reputation of the dealership. The sales experience, especially manager Doug Irvin, was above average. The handholding and service experience, which is almost an oxymoron as there has been little to service, has been excellent. Granted, one service advisor came off as disinterested, but otherwise the staff has been enthusiastic and helpful throughout. If you go, keep an eye out for manager Andi Glassmyer, who has been an absolute angel, and senior advisors Matt Turnbull and John MacDonald. There have been positive experiences with other advisors, too, though I don't have their names on hand. (They have a surprisingly beefy ratio of advisors to clients.) The loaner experience is first rate, while the waiting room is okay if not quite as customer-spoiling as nearby Keenan (now Faulkner) Mercedes or even Fred Beans Jeep -- although the separate "quiet room" serves as a refuge from TV chatter and rugrats. read more

Every visit seems there is an "issue"....front desk that do not have their stuff together or having to bring my vehicle back for service that was not diagnosed properly. On one of my last visits I waited forever for them to return my car after turning in a loaner....was directed by a head nod to a vehicle that was not mine! Had an excellent buying experience. We called ahead and scheduled an appointment to test drive a BMW X3. The car was ready when we got there. Our sales person was busy, so the Pre-Owned Manager (Kyle Sharp) took great care of us: he took us on the test drive, negotiated the terms, arranged the financing, and assisted us in arranging the car delivery. I bought a 2017 Mazda CX-5 here over the weekend. I haven't yet picked the car up but, based on my experience up to this point, I feel pretty confident the final steps will go smoothly. I saw the listing on Car Gurus and dropped in without an appointment after a frustrating visit to another Doylestown dealer. Things were pretty busy but I was helped within a few minutes. My salesman, Nathan, moved the process along very efficiently and respectfully, including the valuation of my trade-in. Negotiations were direct and cordial--an actual conversation about what I could get for my car selling privately and what the car I wanted was worth to me. We arrived at a fair price for the car and my trade-in. Given the current crazy market conditions, I think it's a solid deal. All in all, one of the best dealership experiences I've had. If anything changes in the rest of the process, I'll update this review. There's a nick in the windshield that I'll need to return to the dealer to have fixed in a couple weeks once their service backlog clears. First off, I've been a Thompson customer for over a decade. Thompson's Lexus was exceptional, the staff was amazing and very patient and immensely helpful. I decided to make the change over to BMW 8 years into being a Thompson's customer. Exceptional car at a horrible dealership. Everyone steer away from Dave who's part of the sales team. He is as ingenuine as it gets or in other words the classic salesman. He could care less about the customer, he wants his cut and wants to get you out the door. The goal of the dealership should be to make it win-win for both the customer and for themselves. They are cut throat and ruthless in executing a sale putting the customer under pressure to make a decision. If the normal etiquette of "Let me offer you a seat to the customer and everyone else they're with" or the "Let me get you water or coffee" is missing can you imagine how horrendous and inconsiderate their service is? Retrain your salesmen, please. I question their ethics, and when someone comes to purchase a car giving you their hard earned money and their the least you can do is treat them with respect and not have a condescending attitude. Learn to handle your emotions better. Extremely nasty, after purchasing a car at another dealership had David Dembrosky been pleasant with me I could've said differently. I purchased a 5 series and then an X3. Both I felt I was overpaying, when I threatened to leave for another dealership suddenly they offered me an excellent deal but this wasn't until they realized I may leave. The sales manager was accommodating but by the time he offered a decent deal it was too late. I don't recommend this place to anyone. On the surface they may seem like they have your best interest at heart but as time goes you'll see that you're going to get overcharged. It's only when they feel they may lose a customer that the customer gets a little more attention. If you want a BMW, go to Princeton or elsewhere, you don't want to deal with this sales team. Every interaction matters. Will never ever come here to buy a car again and please save yourself time and frustration and steer far away from Thompsons BMW. This is an honest review. The sales team reached out to me, as you can see below they answered and also emailed and called me because of this review. In an attempt to salvage the damage that had been done but when It came to legitimately handling my concerns, they couldn't offer anything once again. Disappointment. I had a leak in my trunk. Thompson could not find the cause. They wanted to rip the whole interior out of the car, which would've cost me thousands of dollars and force me into getting rid of the car, which is great orangey red and looks and drives like a new one. My local mechanic found the problem which was particles getting in and clogging the drain under the top. They said to go to the dealer and have them blow it out. They showed me the water in the drain. I have an upcoming appointment. That's why people that are smart,do not go to dealer. Shame on you Thompson Service department. I will never go to your service department, unless necessary. I asked Dennis Kelly, the general manager, for a free detail, if the shop foreman agrees about the drain. Thompson BMW uses Doylestown Enterprise as a third party loaner vehicle company. Enterprise fraudulently charged my card 4 months later for the loaner that BMW was supposed to pay for. When I reported the charge as fraud to my credit card company, Enterprise lied and said the charge was for damage to the loaner, which was absolutely not true. When I presented these lies to Andi Glassmyer (from BMW), she promised to get back to me and either delayed her responses or never responded at all. There are so many other BMW dealers you can have better service with. Thompson BMW is so sketchy. Thompson Lexus and Thompson Toyota do not use this shady Enterprise branch for loaners. Your credit card info and reputation are at risk whenever you get a loaner from this BMW. How sketchy is that for a "luxury" car company? When I contacted corporate BMW, they said Thompson was in charge of its own decisions. Translation: Thompson BMW prefers cheaper loaners at the risk of your credit info. DO NOT USE THOMPSON. I have had luxury cars from Cadillac, Range Rover, Volvo, and Lexus. I never had any loaner problems whatsoever. My experience with Thompson BMW was so tragic. This is not luxury. It is trashy. Bought a 2017 3 series certified pre owned in April. By July- over $500 in repairs. However, was told that 3 tires were bad. So for 3 tires and a rotation it will be over $1100. Also - to add further, I should have known who these place was when I originally picked up the car. The key fabs were dead, and the cigarette lighter adapter didn't work. They most certainly didn't check this car before selling it. Fast forward 4 months, car has had minimal mileage (2500 in 4 months max) due to the previous report that they wouldn't help with. Oil change, leads to you need 3 tires as there is little to no tread. Not really sure what certified preowned means to this terrible dealership, but would never do business here again. Have told anyone I know in the market for a car, to avoid them. Would give zero stars if I could. read more

I brought my bmwX5 2015 in for a check engine light, they did not even look at for 2 days. I was then told my warranty did not cover the issue and it would be 1000 to fix the issue. my mom purchased my first car for me from thompson in 2013. it was a 2007 530xi. Regarding the purchase, i don't recall any problems. Keep in mind, i was a normal 16 year old girl that was super excited about her amazing new car and could not care less about the details then. The car did pretty good for the first 3 years. After that, the major problems started. It's not the problems that have been the big headache. The worst part has been that after spending thousands and thousands of dollars at Thompson and a local BMW repair shop, the problem isn't any better... 3-4 years since it started... it's heartbreaking. I miss how it used to drive. being that it's just me and my mom, i am aware people will take advantage of us, but seriously??? Every time i've brought my car to thompson in the last 3-4 years, they ended up not being able to fix what it was in for as well as finding things that needed to be fixed, that my guy friends who are into cars later said when i asked, didn't need to be fixed. The last time my car was at thompson, music/radio had no sound. they told me i would have to pay about $3,000 to have the whole computer thing inside changed. I brought it to a friend who changed the amplifier for me for $500 and voila it was fine again! Not to mention, when i got my car back, there was a weird piece in the change drawer that i didn't notice till i was almost home. They told me they would have to see it to tell me what it is. i live an hour and a half away and they didn't say emailing was an option.... i put it in my trunk and forgot about it. about 6 months later, i noticed my gas cap wasn't locking. i googled to figure out what it was supposed to look like and guess what? the piece that was in the coin tray... was from my gas cap. it was the squishy rubber piece that allows the lock to extend into place and hit into the door perfectly so that it lined up. now... why if you were working on the front near the amp/computer..... was my gas lock piece removed in general... let alone not put back...? oh.. so i would have to come back and pay you to fix it for me... nah, this 23 year old business major former cheerleader was able to figure out how to fix it from a free youtube video. it's bad enough to up your prices, not fix something right, but to do damage on purpose so that i have to pay to come back and get it fixed... really? are you that desperate? i second all the comments about the rude sales women at the front. They act immature and set the environment of the business to a very low class standard. i also didn't appreciate when i was called about the "fix" for $3,000 (that wasn't even the actual problem).... and i said that's a lot or something.... she started telling me i could just buy a new/different car instead of getting that fixed... distasteful. low class. unprofessional. thankfully i have guy friends that know a lot about cars. i feel for the girls that don't have guys in their life or friends that know about cars. this isn't right and it needs to end. since when do businesses not value credibility? it's a shame, really. read more

My 2013 3 series BMW had an oil leak from the Valve Cover. The Dealer replaced the vale cover gasket, but also replaced the Valve Cover. I have a 1957 V8 Chevy, it has the Original Vale Covers after 65 years. I suspect the Valve Cover for my BMW must be made of plastic . The service guy told me it was nececassery to replace the Valve Cover, as replaceing only the gasket was never a sucessful repair. read more

However in my heart I still wanted a BMW so I visited another dealer and had the absolute best experience. Dawn Morgan of Thompson BMW restored my faith. I had been to the dealer to check out pricing and their inventory. Dawn immediately walked up to me and ask could she assist. We sat and pinpointed what I wanted, I went home and thought about. A few days later Dawn sent me a follow up email advising that she there when I was ready. I contacted Dawn a few weeks later and said I'm ready and told her the day I was coming. She met me with a smile and presented me with my options working tireless to get the deal done with her nice manager. I would absolutely recommend her to my friends and family. Let me start by saying this review in no way reflects my view of Thompson's service department. The service group, especially Matt Bean and Laura Zimmerman, are wonderful and beyond fair people always looking to assist in anyway possible. Definitely come here for service - you won't be disappointed. The buying experience here though has always been something I have avoided due to their excessive pricing in comparison to other bmw dealerships in the area. They are unwilling to truly negotiate - they'll tell you there isn't room to move with price, etc. I recently tested it though and felt I was getting a pretty good deal until the end, when items not previously discussed were taken out of the contract upon signing. I felt taken advantage of, and will not come back again. Recommendation? Go to Devon, talk to Darryl Tate. He is truly a nice salesman that will go the extra mile for you. Truthfully I should have gone back to him this time, but at least I now know. Hope this helps others in their buying experience. Update as of 10/15/18: Alicia, thank you for the response. Brought vehicle in for repair of Air Conditioning and rough engine. Both came back from dealer with no issues but they wanted to charge me $200 to recharge Air Conditioning. Stated that air conditioning should be recharged yearly. Brought to a different Dealership in NJ and not only did they say that the Air Conditioning had an issue but also that the car had a code issue with the engine. The NJ dealer also stated that the "recharge" on yearly basis is not true. Both were resolved and covered under the warranty. I would not recommend this dealership to repair your vehicle even if it is under warranty. read more

Bought a car from Thompson BMW with the worst salesman David Dembrosky. I test drove the car and as soon as I hit the breaks, the rear pads started squeaking. I mentioned the brakes and David didn't say anything after I asked if they could be replaced. A few moments later he insisted that I have 20,000 miles life left on the pads. I bought the car and that's all David cared about. I live in Maryland, so when I got the MD inspection, I failed. I failed due to a leaking rh front strut , a leaking rear differential, missing lift pads, and almost due to my rear brakes. I called the dealership and asked to speak with David Dembrosky. I told him that I had failed MD inspection and I was still clearly under the 1,000 warranty. David then stated these issues don't fall under warranty and remanded quite when I had asked, this is how your business sells cars? At least 20 seconds go by with David silent and he hung up on me. I could go on, but bottom line...if you live in MD I suggest you don't buy a car from here. Although they took care of the issues, I don't think it would have been handled without me posting my review that they asked for me to delete. Of course I deleted it to get the work done, but I think buyers should know. BE CAREFUL!!! read more
