My husband & I were in Wantagh looking for a place to eat. I googled restaurants in the area & found some good reviews for Thom Thom. We decided to try it, not expecting anything out of the ordinary. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! From the warm clay baked pita type bread and it's accompanying spreads, we were hooked. I love sushi, my husband is a meat & potato guy, We finally found a great restaurant with food to please us both. We plan to makeThom Thom a "go to" place for us. read more

I decided to make reservations for my husbands birthday. i ordered a bottle of wine for the table when I made the reservation. we got there early and sat at the bar for a little while. bartenders were very nice, quick service. when we were ready to eat our table was ready with the bottle of wine i ordered chilled on the table. we sat at a really nice booth with plenty of room on the table. the calamari appetizer was sooooo good and the dinner was amazing! our waitress jennifer was excellent and so attentive. we had such a great time and food was 5 star in my nook! we even had the GM come over and we told her how great everything was! we will be going back very soon! read more

I recently ate here and thought the food was very good. The sushi was fresh. Nice restaurant. Was a little disappointed in the service. Restaurant was crowded so service was kinda slow. It closes at 11:00 on Friday which is kinda early. After we ate and went to the bar around 10:30 ish the place had cleared out and there was no one at the bar to order a drink. I felt like they wanted us to go. I would go back and see if the same thing happens again. But the food was good. read more

This place is great. Good service, great food and great atmosphere. I highly recommend the kung pao calamari app. Filet Mignon came out perfect, I order mine black & blue and it was incredible. Good selection of beers as well. I don't eat sushi so am unable to give any reviews on that. I have been to this place a couple of times now and have been completely satisfied every time. read more

we had 2 company party's at thom thom. the food was really amazing and the owner was very nice. cant wait to go back! read more

Great food and great service. This should be stop on every Long Islander's plate.

FREEZING if you go in before 5:30 on a Friday. The heat doesn't kick on and makes it VERY uncomfortable. Everyone at bar last friday had on coats and gloves. I used to love this place but will not be back until spring. Food is great! Staff is great! SO sad:( read more

We have eaten here a few times, food is good but always had issues with the service. Young, albeit attractive and not at all experienced. I know a young woman who interviewed for a position just recently there. She had been in the business for many years, we know her from two other places she had waited on us and given us the best service ever, we followed her she was that good. Anyhow she told us how once the manager saw her, a man named Leo, he barely gave her chance. He made her nervous and uncomfortable, did not give her time to answer and was writing things down as she was still speaking. This young woman happens to be a curvier, plus sized gal. I am not opposed to that but apparently Thom Thom, or better, Leo the manager is. From other reviews it seems like bad or slow or just sub par service is an issue. But yet they turn down someone who would work hard to change all that. There are many places to eat out at. Thom Thom just lost customers for good. read more

went for a celebration dinner on Monday night. Made a reservation and the whole place was empty. not one other table. The waitress came to take our drink orders and dinner order. this was about the only time we saw her without me having to get up and retrieve her! She was sitting at a back table conversing with another employee and completely ignored us. The food was horrible, and to make thing worse the bathrooms were so dirty I was disgusted. the restaurant just opened for business so there was no excuse! the bathrooms in Penn station are cleaner. I would never go back again.. i'm thinking they don't need Monday night customers, so why bother! read more

12 Loyal customers, but New Years eve was awful!!! Left a message for the manager or owner to call and never did. Reserved a table for 12 NYE upstairs - sat at 7pm and didn't get appetizers until 8:45. Dinner at 9:00 TWO hours after being seated!!! Promised to give desert to take home (we had to leave 2.5 hours later for a show) then the staff withdrew the offer. Waitress tried her best but the management, organization and service was awful. As a result, they are loosing12 loyal customers -hesitant to ever go back. Still waiting on mgr./owner to return complaint call. read more

Have given Thom Thom another chance and am glad to say things have improved immensely. Friendly singing bartender who is actually happy to see customers come through the door, a friendly manager and owner and the food is great. Welcome back Thom Thom. read more

The food and service were both excellent!! My fiancé and I each had the filet mignon and were able to try different sauces on the side for the steak and it was delicious! We both finished our entire plate. We will definitely return! read more

Went here for a girls night out and although we were very happy with the cocktails and appetizers, we were disappointed with the porterhouse steak and the desserts were less than satisfying. How does a restaurant mess up apple crisp? We had a good time, but if I were looking for a good steak dinner I would NOT go back to Thom Thom. As a side note, our server, Matt was very good. read more

Inconsistent from one night to another. I went on Friday 2/20/15 it was very good. then went back Wednesday night 2/25/15 it was terrible. Even the sushi was not up to par, and for a Japanese Asian Restaurant that is not good, It takes allot for me to not like sushi. The duck left allot to be desired, very plain no glaze or sauce, and everything is served with baby bock Choy, so you better like that or your out of luck. The second most disappointing thing was the appetizer of calamari, the week before was amazing, this night it came soggy and the breading was falling off the calamari in the plate. I spent 150.00 of my hard earned money for a lousy dinner. read more

We came today for the Mother's Day brunch. The food was excellent, as was the service. There were nice extra touches such as free drinks and roses for the Moms. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We will return read more

Always a good experience here. I always get the rack of lamb. The special lobster roll sushi is a must. Wife loves the lychee martinis. Good service and I would suggest making a reservation since it can be a long wait especially on weekends. read more

The food is outstanding. We have been here several times and it seems to be the same issue time and time again. The service is horrible. We 4 of us walked in to an empty room. Only 4 people in the entire restaurant. To be asked if we had reservations. It is Tuesday by the way at 6:15.. and we were told we could not be seated?. After a few minutes the waitress sat us down and forgot about us.stopped by and asked if we wanted apps. We finished our apps and had to ask if we could order our food. Let's just hope this gets better the food is great read more

Been here a few times and never had a bad experience. The crowd says it all about the wait, which it is well worth. I've had several things on the menu, all of which I've greatly enjoyed. Definitely give it a shot. Even their martinis are really good. read more

I love this place. They complimentary nan they serve is great. They have sushi, steak, and seafood, so a whole lot of choice. Weekends tend to get busy, so make sure to make reservations. They have very festive and creative sushi rolls. Will go back soon. read more

I really don't know what to say except pick a different place to eat. From start to finish nothing was good, When we asked to speak to the manager because the service was so slow it took him 15 minutes to come and then he was really nasty to us. I don't need to spend my money on average food, bad service, and nasty help and neither do you. read more

For the most part I love Thom Thom's. The bar has attractive decor and is vibrant. The sushi is probably the best around! Oh so yummy! I would say almost everything on the menu is delish, the skirt steak, scallops.. pretty much everything. Things that are lacking are a nice ambiance in the dining room (can't they put up a few interesting pictures or something?) and the service is ok but not very friendly. I do go back though because it's still a great place to be. read more

Beautiful restaurant..sometimes do live music,,but here's the thing about the restaurant.been there a few times always enjoyed it..if you like to be suprised..this is your place...artistic Epicureanism.waitstaff is ok. .the food & atmosphere totally spot on though.noise level can vary from quiet to loud read more

The food was superb! It's not too often you come along a great Asian fusion restaurant with such quality food. I came with friends and we had a great time. We hope to come more often! read more

The waitress was terrible. When I asked for bread she sneared as if we were bothering her. I had come to this restaurant with co-workers and they were not happy with meal. For nearly a 50/head the experience was not worth it. I will not return. read more

Only a restaurant THIS good could make it on an "off the beaten path" side road. From the Lobster Bisque to the Sushi to the Paella to the Steak...EVERYTHING...and I mean EVERYTHING was perfect....My wife and I and our 8 year old twin daughters simply loved the place. Large portions...perfectly prepared...and price wise...considering the quality, quantity and variety we ordered...it was extremely reasonable. The wait staff was also attentive and great...the owner was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is casual yet elegant. I love this place. First time there on Father's Day and certainly won't be my last visit. read more

Another place I really wanted to like. Buuuuut no. I got the lobster bisque soup to start and it had little flavor. Not to mention, no lobster in it! Every time I've gotten this soup anywhere else, there are bits of lobster meat in it. Not this place! How cheap can you be? Then I got the hangar steak and lobster tail (I needed lobster apparently). The steak was small and a little burnt on the outside, and was a tiny bit overcooked on the inside but mostly fine. The lobster tail was OK, but very small. I also got the broccoli rabe which had zero flavor. I guess the chef doesn't believe in using salt and pepper to flavor his food. Lastly, the waiter wasn't that great, left us without drinks for extended periods of time which drives me crazy. He was nice, but possibly new or not trained for the amount of tables he was waiting. Pretty sure I won't eat here again. Although, it doesn't have a decent decor and room in the bar area, so maybe I'd go for drinks. read more

I went out to eat for an early Tuesday night dinner with my fiance'. For a Tuesday night the dining room was a little packed. They had only three staff members working at that time. One bartender, one maitre d/ waitress and one busboy. We shared the crusted coconut shrimp as an appetizer which tasted fine. We then both ordered the filet Mignon as our entree. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came to the table well done. I told the waitress about the problem with the steak she said it would take 20-30 minutes to make another steak. Once the new steak came to the table i cut into it and it was raw. The waitress took away the raw steak asked how everything was which i said terrible. The waitress took off the coconut shrimp appetizer which was $8 in change and charged me for the $30 raw steak i did not eat. The manager never came over. Very disappointed in this sushi/steak house. Will not be going back. read more

I have 3 words to say...marinated skirt steak...it's the best anywhere ..& I mean..ANYWHERE..that's why I gave it 4 stars..now for the rest..food is excellent ..nice atmosphere .long bar , very woody nicely decorated ....lovely salads , lobster bisque ( fully creamed, like chunky but exceptional flavor ) ..daily specials but if you do a groupon they don't coordinate with daily specials at the discounted price with it..1 person ordered the tues nite special jr filet mignon $14.95 ,they would only use the groupon by upping the price of the filet mignon to the regular price..I wasn't making an issue of it. Service .ok. Or I would have given it another star if it was perfect. few restaurants have really excellent service ..The food is great , super quality meats ..( no longer eat sushi but when I did it was very good) some surprisingly unusual dishes ,conveniently located, plenty of parking , like it better midweek... weekends get loud, high ceilings , been there before ,never had a bad meal..some nites , very good live music. read more
