30 day dry aged prime Filet Mignon - wasn't any better than Longhorn 10 day aged USDA Choice Filet. Medium ordered, well done arrived. Ruined. Table water had an off-putting odor, unpleasant to drink. Side plates had a greasy film, very disturbing. No baked potato available, only mashed. Excellent baked potatoes are the standard for an expensive steakhouse, they have delicate flavors and crispy salted baked skin and tender interior. Desserts were sugary, greasy, and heavy. Completely unrewarding. Made in house to save on costs buying from outside dessert chef, but sorely lacking. No front end or back end managers, and personnel lacked high end restaurant knowledge with respect to proper service protocol. Saving costs on not having experienced managers is not working. I can't see how wealthy sports players and business people would eat here. It's not a rewarding meal, and certainly would not meet the standards of discerning customers. Very expensive, and not as good as Longhorn. The reductions in operating expenses by the owners is painfully apparent. read more

We travel a lot in our line of work and we always look for interesting or restaurants with history. This one had both due to its menu items and specialty beef. I had the Wagyu Filet and it was absolutely extraordinary cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. My wife had the Pasta Heaven which was prepared very well and had an excellent flavor. Would I recommend Third on Main, absolutely is it expensive, absolutely but it's worth it because the quantity of the food is there. Go enjoy one of the best steaks you'll ever had. read more

We probably wouldn't have found this place if everywhere else wasn't closed on Mondays. Don't sleep on this restaurant if you are down to splurge on quality beef! When I walked into this tavern-looking restaurant the first thing I noticed was the huge dry aging fridges. They're serious about their steaks (and alcohol) and that's awesome. We couldn't decide what to get so we went with the steak flight. Never before have I seen a steak sampler so props to that idea. It was a great choice and you can't go wrong with that. It was my first time trying Australian wagyu and the flavor was just superb. Lobster mac and cheese was a great accompaniment for the juicy steaks. The desserts were also amazing which was a satisfying end to a great night. The key lime pie was sweet and zesty with nice crust. The tres leches cake was sweet and creamy and quite strong. Wish I had an espresso to wash down that sugar but it was good. Traveling is fun because you'll never know when you'll find a gem like Third and Main! read more

Excellent service by Rudy--he was very personable and knowledgeable with my many menu questions and recommendation requests. Food was perfectly cooked and nicely presented. Had the 6 oz Australian wagyu MR+ with buttermilk mashed potatoes that were both perfectly cooked (apparently potatoes made fresh daily), and charred asparagus. I normally love asparagus, but didn't like the char taste, but they were still fine, and I had plenty of food. I also got the crab and corn chowder to start. It was very tasty and a much lighter cream broth than the thicker cream chowder you normally get places. Nice flavor and lots of crab meat. The ambience was cozy and historic. The bar and table place settings were elegant. Overall, I was incredibly impressed with this hidden gem in Aurora. Highly recommend this place. read more

You could tell the kitchen was overwhelmed. Another table near us was waiting a long time also. We had not been there since they enlarged the restaurant and don't really feel the need to return. We have come here a couple of times now and neither time I've been overly impressed. The service is fine, the atmosphere is very laid back. The steaks are very good and seasoned perfectly so you get the flavor without a hard crust. I can appreciate the type of environment that they have. I give three stars because the food should be AMAZING for the price point and it just isn't that. The mashed potatoes are not for me, sadly. There is a flavor in it that I couldn't pinpoint, perhaps rosemary? I couldn't eat them either time we got them. The asparagus is good but there are so FEW on the plate that you forget you even had them. The sides just aren't cutting it and a steak needs those best friends on the plate to accompany it. The cocktails are fun and tasty, the back patio is really cool (when it's warm), and it's in a cute little town that you'd never know to go to so I would have to say this is a word of mouth place and they've done well for themself. I won't proactively choose to go here for a meal but if someone asks to go, I will. read more

And the sushi was good. They were really busy and I think they had one reaches for her entire room. I had to track her down for the check we never got to tell them our food was not cooked right. Family dining and high end steakhouse prices. By family dining I mean- some of the waitstaff was wearing literal pjs, tables were noticeably sticky & wobbly. We were quite shocked w similar prices to high end steakhouses for an experience that was quite lacking. I will say, the food was good. First time visit for me and my husband and it was wonderful. Loved the decor, our server and hostess Emma was fantastic, exuberant and went above and beyond for us. She even took us on a tour of the restaurant and showed us little pieces of history in the building. Food was so good. Started with the Shrimp Cocktail, Corn and Crab Chowder, and the Bread Service. Then we moved on to the Australian Wagyu Steaks. Hub got the ribeye and I got the filet, both Pompeii topped (its worth it!). Tres Leche cake to go waiting in the fridge for later this evening. I was surprised at the difference in the ribeye (of course we share). Ribeyes have more fat in them but when you would take a bite, it was like it melted in your mouth. No chewy or tough pieces. First & Foremost.... My FAVORITE thing about this place and my experience was RUDY!!!!!!..... I have never met a waiter that has gone the extra 100 miles until I came here!!... this man went so far out of his way to make our first time here such a memorable one... so for that I would like to thank him!.... Onto the delicious food... this is not your norm steakhouse or run of the mill Rubys. This place has its own etiquette. The atmosphere of the place takes you back straight into saloon era. For starters we got the shrimp cocktail, and the most amazing salad ever. This salad puts Rubys Freddy salad to absolute shame, the dressing is amazing. I ordered the Australian Wagyu filet and the taste was absolutely delicious and unique. It has so much flavor to it. My company ordered the American filet which was also delicious but definitely did not withhold the flavor of my Australian Wagyu filet, with that being said I highly recommend the Australian filet. The mashed potatoes in my opinion were delicious and also had their own unique flavor of buttermilk within. As for the pricing yes it is a little steep, but totally worth the experience having Rudy as our waiter! My only regret was I did not get the strawberry Tres leches and the homemade Keylime pie for dessert, if I could go back I would've just got both & paid for it later with no regrets!..... will definitely be back to check out this place in the summertime as Rudy showed us the whole restaurant including the store and the meat storage. I cannot wait to enjoy a nice dinner in their beautiful courtyard in the back of the restaurant. As I type this (9:07), there has been zero acknowledgement of how long this has taken or how unacceptable the service is. Hard pressed to swallow the $200 bill that's coming. Nate was our server. Was hearing a lot about this place and came to check it out. So for me dining out in this price range is an entire experience. Atmosphere, staff, service, menu diversity and of course the food. No question the steaks are amazing, wagyu is delectable. But.... to be honest that's all this place has going for it. The ambiance isn't remarkable, a bit tavern like, noisy and tables too close, service was good, bread service was average, side dish with steak unremarkable ( asparagus and mashed potatoes) both over cooked. Great Little gem of a restaurant in a small downtown with plenty of character and interesting history. The menu is varied with a focus on aged steaks. Quite the competition for even a St Elmo the selection was quite impressive. Had the Wagyu Fillet and the Scallops both were delicious. But the best part of the dinner was the friendly waiter and easy conversation with one of the owners (who also tends bar). Noticed many customers were regulars. We will definitely be back! read more

Where to start, this place is extremely overated and not at all fine dining or worth the money. I say fine dining because if you have $300 steak on your menu and the average plate price is about $60, thats fine dining. My wife and I decided to try it out based on reviews over the weekend before heading to the casino. We were super excited upon arriving and thats where it all stopped. We walk in and are greeted by a hostess who asked for our name then instructed us to find some stairs thru the bar and head upstaris to the other hostess station. Sure, I will find my own way thru the bar, whatever. We made it upstairs, no hostess, no hostess station, we finally see someone with an I-pad. We are again asked for our name and told to go stand in the hallway out of the way, her exact words by the way. So we moved over to a tiny hallway squeezed up against a wall while staff and patrons squeezed by us. We stood there for several minutes to have someone else with an I-pad ask our names..again. Mind you they all are wearing radios and appear ot be talking to each other. A couple more minutes go by and the hostess and the owner proceed to argue about seating while standing in front of us. He finally says to her "I don't really care where you put them just put them out there" the server says to him "so just to be clear I am takng them up there" he said "thats fine whatever". I am sorry but we usually go to Tony's or Ruby's or Jags and this would have never happened in front of customers. Totally unprofessional, almost as much as the attire of all the staff there. The hostess grabs us and ushers us .....outside to the patio. We are heading to the casino so my wife is dressed for dinner, basically a shorter dress sleeveless. Anyone with any sense of what they are doing would never sit us outside, on a patio covered in PLASTIC that is not attached and is blowing cold air in. It was so cold I had to go to the car to get a coat for my wife to wear. But we were willing to deal with it for 2 reasons. 1, we thought the food would be worth it. 2. we didn't really have time to go grab anything else other that fast food. We should have done that it would have been better. We stresseed our unhappiness about the seating and the plastic. Sorry but if I am dropping over $150 for dinner I do not want to be seated on some dive bar patio covered in loose plastic. But we did get a good view of the staff washing glasses and singing.....outside in the side court. Yes they were washing glasses outside in the side court in a bucket of water on a picnic table. We are waiting on our food, wife wearing a coat and the owner is standing behind her talking to a couple saying how its 70 degrees out there and it is working out great, it was actually in the mid 60's. Mind you other people were complaining about the temp as well. My wife turns over her shoulder to him amd says "uh no its cold, im wearing a coat". He continued to brag about it and she repeates herself. He turned his back to her ot block what she was saying to the other couple. At this point in time we have decided to stay because we wanted to taste the food and also to see how much worse it could get, it was becoming comical at this point in time. I;m sure it was warm to the owner while he wears pants, a shirt, a jacket....oh and baseball cap and tennis shoes, you know really professional for fine dining. But you would think that the owner who likes to brag so much would immediately come to our table to see how he could help. BTW we were told there were no tables inside, even thought there were several empty tables inside when we arrived and all night. But no he did not. Again being someone who does eat at great steakhouses with excellent service, I assure you this would not have happened. So now lets get to the food, horrible and I could have, and have, gotten a better steak at Outback. I ordered the Australian Wagyu 6 oz, it had been overseared and the outside tasted like the burnt from an old iron skillet, I ate half. We were done at this point in time and just wanted to leave. Waitress knew we weren't happy but cared not at all. This place wants to be high end, but is a Ponderosa at best. Save yourself time and just go to Ruby's or even Flame at the casino. This is a half a** attempt at fine dining, probably great if this is the best you have ever had, but again I have had better steak at a family BBQ. If I buy a $60 Australian Wagyu steak I expect it to no be cooked incorrectly and not have to saw thru it with a knife, literally saw thru it. We paid our bill and left with a lesson we will not make again. we expressed kindly we were not happy vyt decided to stick it out. We were curious to see if after all the garbage the server would do somethign, anythign to make it right, nope not at all. Again next time I will go to Tony's where I dont even need a knife. Oh and our shoes stuck to the carpet, horrible. But I am sure this money grab will run its course. read more

So I came here a few years back on a Groupon and it was good, but I came back recently because of their Wagyu selection and was floored!. First off, the prohibition theme is great and the various wood tables on the second floor outside was a great atmosphere. Staff was great, but I could tell he was swamped. But to the real reason for the 5 star review.... The Wagyu! The first time I'd had A5 Wagyu was at Gordon Ramsay's Steakhouse in Vegas. It was a taste I'll never forget! I had a "Wagyu" steak at Jeff Ruby's in Cincy, but can only assume it was not Japanese because it was nothing like here. The way I initially described it was a mix of a super tender filet and bacon. Some people say it has a butter taste. But a true Japanese Wagyu will be a taste you won't mistake. We order the Flight of World which had Japanese, Australian and US Wagyu. Japanese easily took home the first place prize, but my husband disagreed on our second place fav. This place ranked right up there with Gordon Ramsay's! So happy to see a place with this kind of steak locally! I did stop by the butchery next door and they told me they have a guy that goes to Japan every 6 weeks or so to big on various types of Wagyu so you never know what they'll have. I hope to be able to taste the chocolate fed one soon! read more

Another amazing meal at Third and Main, people! We got flight of steaks from around the world, because we wanted to compare wagyu beef from Japan, Australia, and the USA (Having our own Olympics, if you will). Before even getting to the beef, I have to shout out the staff. Everyone there is so incredibly knowledgeable about the steaks. If you don't know much about beef, they will excitedly educate you. This is the least pretentious steakhouse you will ever go to. If you don't dress up, nobody will give you "that look", but you don't feel out of place dressed up for date night. On the left, Japanese wagyu ribeye, unmistakeably tender and succulent. Mild and delicious. Dreamy. Just what you would anticipate. Japanese wagyu is to American prime steaks as Ponderosa is to American prime. There is no fair comparison. In the center was Australian wagyu. I forgot which steak was from where, but it was my first non-Japanese wagyu, so I closed my eyes and let the steak take me on a journey. The steak and I ended up in Sedona at sunset. I could hear the wind whispering through tumbleweeds. I know I'm weird, describing a steak as a place, but if you've ever been to Sedona at sunset, you know it's magical. The last steak of the evening was a Red Top wagyu filet mignon from Missouri. Now, I don't order filet. Generally, I don't think they're very flavorful, so I stick to ribeyes. I've also bought "American wagyu" at upscale groceries before and been extremely disappointed. This steak blew all of my preconceived notions of an American wagyu filet out of the water. It had a velvety mouthfeeel, but an assertively beefy flavor. Almost as tender as the Japanese wagyu, but worth kind of an American, "Dang right, I'm beef!" kind of flavor. I wanted to arm wrestle in a bar while drinking an old-fashioned, wearing cowboy boots, and then sink into a big, plush, velvet-covered featherbed. If I could not get the Japanese wagyu, I would be 99% as happy with the Red Top. Again, this is the greatest steakhouse in the Cincinnati area, and I will die on that hill (preferably full of delicious wagyu). read more

This restaurant seems to be going downhill very fast. The first time we went to the restaurant was about a month ago on a Tuesday night they were not busy and the food and the service we're both great. Unfortunately things have changed and not for the better. We got a reservation a couple days in advance and showed up for dinner tonight right on time. The hostess then told us to wait to the side as she greeted the couple that came in behind us. They ask for a table and did not have a reservation and she gave them one of the outside patio tables. After they were seated one of the workers came back and let us to our table. Our table was right outside of the bathroom. I couldn't believe that a couple had just walked in off the street and got one of the better tables and we had a reservation and ended up right next to the bathroom. The smell totally ruined any chance of a good dinner. We ordered food from our waitress and waited for a while. I ordered the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. It was $17 for two jumbo size shrimp. The shrimp had been sitting around for a while as they were dry and the shrimp that my wife had was Brown on one part. The appetizer was definitely overpriced and well below any standard for a restaurant in this price range. The wagyu steaks were good but not as good as the first time we visited. I don't know if this relates to them being busy on a Friday night or if things or just going downhill in general. Another issue that we had is with our waitress we had to ask many times to get a refill of our soda. When you're paying over $100 for each person to eat you should never have to ask for a refill. They should notice your glass is half empty and bring another. That's how it is done and all of the other high end steak houses around me. I cannot talk about dessert as we wanted to get out of there as soon as possible because of the smell coming out of the bathroom. We really liked this restaurant when it first opened and told many people about it but that is not the case now. I advise caution going there on a busy night as you may receive subpar service and food as we did. read more

I wanted to love this place. The historical building is super cool, and our server was engaging and fun. The menu is creative and offered numerous choices, making a decision tough. But the wine list..."it needs updating" and while we found a bottle we enjoyed, an accurate list would be helpful. We had a crab cake appetizer that tasted great but was a small portion for the price. A marinated steak on special was ordered medium rare and delivered quite far underdone; the Pasta from Heaven dish was excellent. We were seated on the bar side next to the musician performing that evening, which was a fun addition. All in all, a good experience, just not as great as we had hoped. read more
