I had the chance to meet the owner, Wilma--she was incredibly welcoming and genuinely passionate about the place. Our waitress, Tammy, was outstanding: attentive, hustling non-stop even with a busy Christmas party in the back room, and always with a smile. Service like that really elevates the experience. The food? Phenomenal. We tried a few dishes, and everything hit the spot. The grilled sirloin medallions were tender and perfectly cooked, served with a flavorful sauce, and the glazed salmon over wild rice was fresh and delicious--light yet satisfying. Drinks were a highlight too. My Old Fashioned was solid (though a tad watered down--my only minor nitpick), but the Sugar Cookie Martini? To die for! Creamy, festive, and dangerously drinkable--I definitely had more than one. The holiday cocktail menu had fun options like Peppermint White Russian and ButterBall, perfect for the season. The food was ok. The Lawrence Burger was not very nice. The Swiss cheese was extremely pungent and the burger was dry. The rack of ribs were tender but they had a charred section from being broiled. Overall I wasn't impressed. Service was fine. And ambiance was fine as well. The carpet was sticky and the decor is very dated. read more

My hubby and I finally made a reservation on a Saturday which I recommend doing on the weekends. We sat at the bar and our bartender was a sweetie. Let's talk about the peanut coleslaw. OMG best coleslaw I have ever tasted. Worth the wait and drive just for that alone. My hubby ordered the delmonico and I ordered the butter scallops. They were cooked perfectly. Hubby & I had dinner here earlier tonight after shopping at the Lawrenceburg Event center Holiday Expo. We started off with the tater tot appetizer. They were delicious! My husband had the ribs and shrimp and smoked potato. He said the ribs were awesome as the meat just fell right off the bone. My choice for dinner was chicken linguine alfredo and it was amazing! So happy I have leftovers for tomorrow! We've eaten here a few times in the past and always had excellent food and great service! read more

This is a greater Cincinnati best kept secret. We were sat in the post office booth. What a deal! Great prices, great service and wonderful food. We found this place after skiing at Perfect North Ski Resort. You won't be disappointed. The French Onion soup is to die for. read more

First time today and enjoyed the meal and atmosphere and talked about having dinner here next month for 20th wedding anniversary. Received bill and they tried to charge $4.50 instead of $3 stated on menu for fries and $4.75 for onion ringd instead of $3 as stated on menu. Manager refused to honor stating menu wasnt updated. Waitress felt bad and offered to give us her tip money which we refused because it wasnt her fault. So manager lost a customer over this. Very bad customer service on her part. read more

Our server Megan was great. She was on everything we needed. My husband had the potato skins, and I had a full rack of ribs with sweet potato and peanut Cole slaw. The ribs are fall of the bone tender. The cole slaw is the best I have ever eaten. There is no way I can eat all of that at once. It will Make 3 more meals for me. My birthday was 2 days ago, and I wish we had come here. Since we live in Florence, it didn't occur to me to come over to Lawrenceburg. The meal we had on my birthday from the other place we went to was mediocre, and the service was horrible. We have never received bad food or service here. I've driven past this place thousands of times but had never tried it out so I decided it was time. The interior and ambiance is very intimate and inviting. The staff was friendly and quick to address our needs. My group's complaint was that the food did not taste great especially considering the price. The beef medallions were dry and the mashed potatoes were very oily. However, the fried green beans were great! I'll probably visit again to try out something else but the menu could definitely use some work. read more

How was the service? Phenomenal! Our server was a nice young man named Kyle, he took really good care of our group. He was fast and very polite. Would I eat there again? Yes. Just realized they do carry out and already planning for our next visit. How was the food/drink? Superb! I ordered the Seafood Linguine and it was delicious. The sauce was so yummy and creamy. My husband ordered the famous rack of ribs and it did not disappoint! Also, the famous peanut slaw is amazing. How was the vibe/aesthetic? It is a cozy and intimate setting with classic style. How was it priced? For two meals, an appetizer and drinks, we spent 75 bucks. We few that this was a very fair price. We really appreciated our server and feel like he went above an beyond. We hadn't eaten here in a few years, and I'm sorry I waited so long. Unique old school ambiance in this converted house. We had a great dinner starting with their famous peanut slaw, which is somewhat unique. We both had the gourmet meat loaf and 2 sides (mashed potatoes and green beans). We loved everything we ordered, and the meat loaf was some of the best we've ever had. Even the rye bread was great. Service was friendly and attentive. We won't wait so long to return. The food is great. The historic building atmosphere is fun. Virtually everything is worn out and dirty. Be careful what you wear. The vinyl seats are cracked and torn. The men's room floor was sticky on this visit. read more

I was in IN for a business trip and we decided to try the restaurant because it was in walking distance from the hotel. We got there about 45 minutes before they closed and were seated right away. Our waiter was visibly new but very attentive. I started with the fried green beans. They were good but the sauce that came with them was bland; I was expecting a type of horseradish sauce. For dinner I ordered the Filet Medallions with mushroom sauce. They were cooked perfectly medium well but missing the mushroom sauce and FLAVOR! They were very bland which was disappointing. The smoked potato was interesting and also bland. My drink was an Old Fashioned and I specifically stressed to leave off the sweetness. It arrived sweet as ever. I'm hoping this was just an off night and seeing that they were about to close was the reason for all of the misses but not sure. I'm generously giving 3 stars because our waiter was good. read more

IMO the best ribs in the Tri-State. Peanut slaw and the Lobster 'Shrooms were amazing. Service was slow, but expected at noon on a Friday. We've eaten here MANY times since 1984. NEVER bad food or service. If you're used to the hustle and bustle of a Cheddar's, Applebee's or the typical "steak house"...go there. This is a GREAT food...relax and enjoy kinda place. read more

Dinner for four. Our water was excellent and made recommendations. We tried several of those. And they were all excellent. In particular the ribs were fall off the bone tender with an excellent taste. Also the peanut Cole slaw was wonderful. Sweet and Salty and perfect. We highly recommend this place. read more

Our table of six was seated about five feet from a loud table of about fifteen celebrating something. It was so horribly loud you could not have a conversation without shouting. We had to shout our dinner orders to the waitstaff and it made for a very unsatisfactory evening. We had out of town guests that were leaving to travel back as soon as the dinner was over. We missed so much of the attempted conversation constantly asking someone to repeat what they had just said. After we left we actually stood outside in the parking lot to talk because we hadn't been able to enjoy our dinner or interact with our friends.. You know, that's just wrong. If you didn't have room for six that evening, you should have told us instead of cramming us into a room where you couldn't hear yourself, let alone anyone else. Even the waitstaff trying to take our orders commented on how loud it was . Waitstaff was doing a good job, bourbon salmon was good but this was the worst experience we have ever had at Whiskey's. Our reservations were made at least two weeks ahead of time so we weren't a last minute group coming in needing to be crammed somewhere. It was just a shame and put a real damper on the evening. read more

This could have easily been a five star rating. Our food was very good and Derrick, our server, did a good job once he appeared at our table. So why not five stars? When our meals came out my wife's sweet potato had butter on it, she has a dairy allergy and we informed Derrick about it. The person delivering the food to the table immediately blamed Derrick for only saying the prime rib should be dry(they apparently apply butter to the prime rib). Well if someone has a dairy allergy the kitchen should not hold butter on one item and apply it to another. I think the kitchen made the mistake and they wanted to blame the server. I'm not sure Whisky's needs another endorsement of the peanut slaw, but here it is! I joined a group who had gone for the ribs and they enjoyed their dinners. Good as always. It was a Friday in Lent so I ordered the sea bass. It is evident that ribs are their specialty. My fish was burned on one side -- black bits of breading showed up as soon as I cut into it. It also meant the fish was tougher than expected because it was overcooked. I didn't want to make a fuss because I was the guest in a large group. Visited this place on New Years Eve and it did not disappoint! Have been here a couple of other times and it's authentic, homestyle cooking with fresh ingredients and classic dishes. On this particular day, they had a limited menu which was nice but I wish they offered the entire menu. I realize the holiday obviously affected this. The medallions were tender and juicy and don't forget to get their famous peanut slaw as a side. It sounds a little unusual but it's heaven. Tastes like a dessert with the saltiness from the mean it's mixing with the sweetness of the creme in the slaw. Would definitely go back again! read more

Fabulous French onion soup some of the best I've had especially at that price point. The pasta had way too much grated Parmesan on it made sauce a bit pasty which was shame bc the sauce and the lobster was great the pasta was too undercooked for me but I do tend to like a softer noodle. But the restaurant was cool every room was different which made the experience interesting. read more

Large group, we had many different items. Peanut slaw is really good. French onion soup very good. Meatloaf tasted sour. 4 different people tried it. All said the same thing, nasty. Husband had seabass. He didn't even finish it. Bread brought to table, it is literally a plain loaf of bread slices. Cut in half and put in a basket with butter packets. I ordered prime rib. Looked exactly like the steak next to me. It's not supposed to look like that. Service was was decent. Waitress should have gotten the manager with the meatloaf incident.
