This new spot was much brighter where I could see everything... major improvement!!! The dishes were so scrumptious, although their portions could've been more forth giving, considering the prices. Certainly it wouldn't be a surprise if this was the best Thai restaurant in LaGrange. It gets kind of hidden among all the restaurants downtown, but this is not to be overlooked. Thipi Thai is a kind of classy looking place, but it's pretty easy going though. Find lots of the classics. You can also get a choice of protein in most items, so vegetarians can get tofu for an example. A way to describe it is authentic. It's also possible to describe it as fresh. This is made fresh to order. As a result, it may take awhile. Even so, there's usually not that long of a wait. Came at lunch. We got a couple of the noodle entrees, which were similar but different in a few ways. It's about $14 for the cheapest entrees. These have a protein choice, and we got these with tofu. I had the Thipi Noodle. This is crispy thick rice noodles with bean sprouts, broccoli, carrots, and pineapple in a mild sweet garlic sauce. For sure it's pretty authentic Thai food. Idk if it's a new chef, new owners or what but the food quality just isn't the same anymore. I have been going to Thipi Thai for 25 years, and it's always been my favorite, both the new location and the old. It was my first introduction to Thai food. I love the Panang Curry the best. I love the Crab Rangoon and cucumber salad, also. The service is always great. The manager and servers are very nice and always attentive. I've never had a bad meal there. Last time we were here the food was meh at best. This time the food was delicious we both tried different dishes and were pleased. Kiddo had yellow curry with beef. I had ginger zing with chicken. Both were tasty and we had plenty for another meal. We also had chicken satay and a cucumber salad. Lots of salad for leftovers. Delicious! Service was a bit slow but somewhat attentive. Great food! One of my favorite Thai places in the area. They are able to make their Pad Thai vegan which is great. I really like the vegetables that they have on the Pad Thai as well, they're a bit different but I think it goes very well with the dish. read more

The portions are small for what you pay for. The waitress was nice and attentive, but we weren't impressed with the food. I asked for medium spice for the curry but it wasn't spicy at all. Both dishes were overly sweet so it was difficult to enjoy. We had high hopes as it was recommended by a friend but we won't be returning. read more

Decided to treat my son to Thai food today and was sadly disappointed. We ordered crab Rangoons , seafood rice, cucumber salad ... jasmine tea & Thai tea. The seafood rice was disappointing.. it was extremely bland and the shrimp hadn't been deveined. We stopped eating it abruptly once we noticed the above. The cucumber salad was the best! Upon walking the cold late November streets I was in the mood for something warm and nourishing. I wasn't expecting to get that is multiple ways. I was promptly greeted by the waitstaff to find an friendly restaurant. The decor is traditional Thai with traditional motifes around the restaurant. To the plywood vinyl tables to the clay sculptures around the spot its clear that they put a good amount of attention. I ordered the green curry which was excellent. The beef was very tender and the veggies complimented the sauce well. It's portioned slightly smaller than I anticipated but was very filling. I left happy. read more

Decided to try out this place after discovering it on Yelp. Right on the door there was a sign that they were short staffed. As a result, the lights were only on in half the restaurant. However, I felt that service was very excellent. They have a decent cocktail list and I opted for the Mai Tai. It was excellent. They also had mini wine flights which I thought was cute. For dinner I had the sesame chicken. It was very sweet. Almost as sweet as my Mai Tai. It was served on a bed of spinach. It also came with rice. Portion size was good for the price. read more

Horrible food and even worse customer service. Went there last night and ordered to-go. Got home about 30 minutes later to have burned fried rice. Not fried rice. This was white rice that was burned and then seasoned to mask the burned taste and smell. We called and asked they make it right. We live a distance away and we've ordered and dined in several times so we wanted to give them a chance to make it right. Not a call back or an apology. Server over the phone took our number and said they had a new cook so it might've been the spices. You know when you burn rice and try to save it but it's poor taste in so many levels when it is being served to the public. Crappy tasting food. The quality of the food went downhill. My family and I went on a Monday to try this restaurant. I was craving for some Thai food and came across this place . They weren't crowded at all, yet service was terribly slow, and the server got our orders wrong. Another staff had to come to our table twice to verify my husband's order. It took a long time to get two glasses of water. Food was ok. I think it's regionally prepared, considering the menu items we ordered tasted sweet (Tom yum shrimp soup, seafood noodle, Thai fried rice). The ambiance didn't feel authentic. Thipi Thai was okay. We enjoyed finding a Thai restaurant with some outdoor seating. The service was a bit sketchy. Once our order was taken, we did not see a server until the runner brought our entrees. When someone we think we a manager checked in to see how our food was, we said did not receive the shared appetizer we ordered. The server then came rushing back and said they would put in the order for us but we said it was okay as we were already eating our entrees. The food was okay. I ordered the Garlic seafood dish I asked for not too spicy and it was soooo spicy and couldn't taste it. Cause my tongue was on fire; The seafood was 3 shrimp, 4 tiny scallops and a few chewy strings of calamari. My mom ordered Pad Siew and again super spicy when we asked for medium spicy. Tried to eat in, but someone from the restaurant took our reservation over the phone and then the hostess didn't honor it. Months later, got takeout that was really disappointing. We have enjoyed family meals here for years. The vegan offerings are tasty, and there are choices from mild to super-spicy to accommodate everyone's tastes. One of my personal favorites is their shiitake duck. As with everything, prices here have continued to rise, and, sadly, portion sizes have shrunk, as well. We continued to come, though, because we all like their food. BUT, today we went there, were unimpressed by the woman on her phone instead of paying attention to us. This was odd, especially, because we were the ONLY patrons in the dining room. The last straw, though, was seeing the hand-written "no free refills" sticker added to the list of soft drinks on the menu. Come on, you are chintzing out on that? I came here with in a party of 5 on a Tuesday evening. On the door there was a sign they were understaffed so we were expecting service to be slow and were okay with that. But that said, there were some other issues that were pretty frustrating. Service was definitely slow, even though I did see waiters around seemingly not doing a ton. When our food did come out, two of the entrees were taken to another table and someone was eating off them. Then they were brought to our table and served and it was only because the party at the other table yelled out to us that we knew not to eat it. The wait staff then took it back to the kitchen and remade it. So half the table had their food and the other half didn't, which was awkward. When the check came, we didn't get a discount or anything for that which was irritating. I also thought things were overpriced given the portion sizes but that's not the end of the world. As far as the food went, it was pretty good. I got the Pad See Ew and it was fine. My sister got the sesame chicken though and it was really odd. It seemed to be slathered in a fruit sauce (maybe mango) so that was unexpected. Overall, I'd say this might be a good place for takeout but don't come in person. I've been in the hospital for the last five days eating hospital food which is no mediocre tonight I wanted something different so I decided to order some Thai food from tasty Thai. That was a mistake. I ordered chicken pad, Thai and crab Ragu Ragu noon over the Hosp's chicken Parmesan and fruit cup I'll know better next time, the Pattye was flavorless no absolutely awful. I am from DuPage county suburbs. We have a variety of Thai restaurants in the area which is my Thai basil. Thai so forth, pretty decent Thai food, but this place was totally awful, especially for carry out the crab Rangoon was rubbery and tasteless. Worst $35.
