    The Thipi Noodle

Certainly it wouldn't be a surprise if this was the best Thai restaurant in LaGrange. It gets kind of hidden among all the restaurants downtown, but this is not to be overlooked. Thipi Thai is a kind of classy looking place, but it's pretty easy going though. Find lots of the classics. You can also get a choice of protein in most items, so vegetarians can get tofu for an example. A way to describe it is authentic. It's also possible to describe it as fresh. This is made fresh to order. As a result, it may take awhile. Even so, there's usually not that long of a wait. Came at lunch. We got a couple of the noodle entrees, which were similar but different in a few ways. It's about $14 for the cheapest entrees. These have a protein choice, and we got these with tofu. I had the Thipi Noodle. This is crispy thick rice noodles with bean sprouts, broccoli, carrots, and pineapple in a mild sweet garlic sauce. For sure it's pretty authentic Thai food. It can also be as spicy as you want it. There's plenty of choices for vegans and vegetarians.

Gave this once upon a time favorite Thai place a try again after moving to their new location just a few doors down. Idk if it's a new chef, new owners or what but the food quality just isn't the same anymore. Our rice was so wet-ish rather than cooked rice and the sauce with our skewers were like whatever is left over. Not worth going for the price anymore. Super disappointed as I used to always recommend this place but not going back.

The portions are small for what you pay for. The waitress was nice and attentive, but we weren't impressed with the food. I asked for medium spice for the curry but it wasn't spicy at all. Both dishes were overly sweet so it was difficult to enjoy. We had high hopes as it was recommended by a friend but we won't be returning.

Decided to treat my son to Thai food today and was sadly disappointed. We ordered crab Rangoons , seafood rice, cucumber salad ... jasmine tea & Thai tea. The seafood rice was disappointing.. it was extremely bland and the shrimp hadn't been deveined. We stopped eating it abruptly once we noticed the above. The cucumber salad was the best! The crab Rangoons were good as well but $81 ?! Extremely high for Thai food.. lesson learned... the waitress was nice

Upon walking the cold late November streets I was in the mood for something warm and nourishing. I wasn't expecting to get that is multiple ways. I was promptly greeted by the waitstaff to find an friendly restaurant. The decor is traditional Thai with traditional motifes around the restaurant. To the plywood vinyl tables to the clay sculptures around the spot its clear that they put a good amount of attention. I ordered the green curry which was excellent. The beef was very tender and the veggies complimented the sauce well. It's portioned slightly smaller than I anticipated but was very filling. I left happy.

Quite sad when the owner posts this for everyone to see-

They moved 2 doors east! Very cozy new location. More intimate then the old place. Make sure you check out the new location. The food is great and they service is phenomenal.

Such an elegant, intimate restaurant. Gorgeous interior, exceptionally delicious food.

We've been coming to Thipi Thai La Grange since they first opened almost 23 years ago. This latest location is so elegant and gorgeous. The food is scrumptious, as always. The cocktails are generous and potent. And the service is attentive without being obtrusive. We love Thipi Thai La Grange. Everything on the menu is worth ordering. We will be back!

Masaman curry. Like curry beef stew.

Ordered pad Thai minus the tofu. Egg rolls are ok. I got takeout but it was ready when I got there.

The food is consistently good here. As is the service. The cozy vibe doesn't hurt, either.

the food was very unflavored and it was the absolute worst panang curry i have ever had. it tasted watered down and just overall mushy.

Food is decent but portions are laughably small compared to any other Thai restaurant I've ever eaten at, while price is just as high.

The family‑run warmth is immediate, from the friendly service to handwritten signs highlighting the chef's specials. Dining as a pair, we started with the Cida Sampler, which includes two of each of their most popular appetizers--perfect for sharing and getting a taste of everything. My husband ordered the Broccoli Beef: tender slices of beef in a rich, savory gravy with perfectly steamed broccoli. Brown rice was available for a small upcharge, which he happily opted for. I chose the Roast Duck Red Curry, and one standout feature here is the ability to customize spice levels. I went super mild and still got deep, satisfying flavor without any heat overload. We ended on a high note with dessert: a silky, nutty Thai custard and a slice of green tea cheesecake--both excellent and well worth saving room for. Highly recommended if you're looking for flavorful, thoughtfully prepared Thai food in an unassuming setting.

My bestie has been here a few times, so I went with the Ramen should recommended I should get. Forbidden Noodles definitely exceeded the expectations I didn't have. Food: I ordered a pork tonkotsu with miso instead of the tonkotsu ($14.99). Since I was treating myself that day, I also decided to try their cream cheese rangoon with their spicy mayo ($3.99 for 3 pieces) and it was absolutely delicious! Honestly a great combo! Atmosphere: I loved the atmosphere. I went on a really hot day, so it felt nice walking into the cold. The place had low lighting which gave it a warm and cozy aesthetic. Perfect place for a date or catch up lunch/dinner. Customer Service: I thought the customer service was great. The cashier that took my order was really nice. She even brought out cups of water for me & my bestie even though neither of us asked for any. Parking: There's a parking lot, parking garage, & street parking which is all FREE. Street parking is hit or miss, so I totally recommend parking at the parking lot or parking garage. Overall Experience: Overall, I had a good experience at Forbidden Noodles. I would highly recommend this place if you're craving some Ramen but want to skip the trip going to Chinatown (although Chinatown does have a good chunk of Ramen spots). You can even watch a movie before or after grubbing at Forbidden Noodles at the nearby Classic Cinemas La Grange Theatre. I hope this review helps Forbidden Noodles & its current and future customers. Have an amazing day!
