    Thai Custard

We came here because Katy's was too full. For some reason, their customer base is all white people, not Asian. Mai Thai had plenty of tables free. I felt a little bad since they closed in half an hour. I don't understand why Asian restaurants close so early in Illinois compared to other States. We ordered chicken satay, Thai bbq chicken, green curry with beef, Thai custard. -chicken satay 5 - the chicken was very tender and juicy. It tastes great with the peanut sauce. -Thai bbq chicken 5 - don't sleep on this entree. The chicken was so flavorful and succulent, you don't really need the Thai sweet and sour sauce. The sauce does give it a more tangy taste. -green curry with beef 5 - it is spicy but the enjoyable kind of spicy. Not the kind of spicy that is just hot and you don't want to take another bite. It has a nice milky texture from the coconut milk. You may need to ask for more rice. -Thai custard - 4.5 - just the right amount of sweetness, not too heavy.

The place is quiet but busy with pick up orders. It's definitely a local favorite; I know because when picking up orders, they greeted each other and asked about family members and such. The staff was super sweet and attentive. The food was fresh and the ambiance was soothing.

Tum yum and pad Thai so good. Thai tea. Best ever. Good service. Good food. Soooooo good.

We went to Mai Thai for the first time ever. Overall it was a solid experience. The chicken satay appetizer was very good. The chicken was very moist. I ordered the crispy duck curry, and while it was tasty, the spice level wasn't there for me. My daughter got the chicken pad thai and it was very good. The inside could use some cleaning and there were no paper towels or toilet paper in the mens room. We will go back again.

This store front restaurant in a strip mall is a delightful find in the middle of hectic day running errands. Our sever was attentive to our dietary limitations and guided us through the menu. We started with chicken Satay, it was tender and juicy, the accompanying peanut sauce was wonderful. The pickled cucumber salad was so good we got a second one. The Wonton soup was flavorful with chunky veggies. The cashew chicken was a great main course.

Food is A-Okay. Whether you're looking for something quick and to-go or dine in and enjoy, Mai Thai got you covered. Parking lot is big, so no issues finding parking. It is BYOB if you feel like having a nice adult beverage to enjoy with some Thai flavors and there's a grocery around the corner in the same plaza which makes it convenient to pick up. Ambiance is casual and service is quick. While we've already dined in once and grabbed to-go from here within the last month can't say I've found a go to dish here. The Tom Kha soup, Basil Chicken, and Pad Si-Ew with Beef were all okay. Not the best Thai food I've ever had but it's not bad. Out of convenience, I do see many more visits/take out orders for those meals when we don't feel like cooking at home. 'Til next time, cheers!

Our new favorite! We've been twice within a month. Here are some of items that we have tried: Pad Thai with beef Chicken baby egg roll with lard nar and beef (lunch special) Crab rangoon with pad si-ew and beef (lunch special) Vegetable potsticker with pad si-ew and tofu (lunch special) Vegetable egg roll with mix vegetable and chicken (lunch special) Thai iced tea The lunch specials are a pretty deal with the exception of one small observation. The chicken baby egg rolls come in three whereas the vegetable egg roll come in one. I would think the latter is less expensive and should also come in three? Nonetheless, the overall portions are reasonable, flavors are vibrant, and service is speedy. We look forward to trying their curry items.

The staff checked to make sure eggs were OK and pointed out that the egg rolls contain chicken. We got the spring roll, pad kee mao and the pad thai, a Thai iced coffee (they brought tea, oops) and a Squirt soda. Service was friendly and fairly quick. The spring roll, as others have noted, was falling apart. It appeared to be fried tofu, bean sprouts and maybe some bok choy, so it was mostly a textural experience. We weren't crazy about the sweet brown sauce it was drizzled with. The pad kee mao was noted as "spicy" but it wasn't. It had a nice variety of vegetables, though I could see but not really taste the basil and the broccoli was a bit undercooked. It was fine, but not very flavorful. The pad thai was basically noodles and fried tofu with the usual accoutrements (peanuts; lime; bean sprouts); not sure if they forgot to add the egg after we said it was OK. Overall, fine if you're local but not worth a special trip, at least not for the noodle dishes. $45 including tip.

Baisi Thai is actually a pretty nice looking one, even though it's clearly run on the cheap. Maybe the food isn't as nice as the pictures, and maybe the portions aren't as big as they let on. The food still tasted better than we thought it would be though. Came at lunch. It was quiet and there was no one else eating inside, which could have been a bad sign. This was also on the weekend. Maybe it's just because of the location. This is on 63rd a ways from the shopping center with Mariano's and stuff. Boring looking area. It's about $11 for an entree. Good prices, cheaper than at many other Thai restaurants apparently. I got the Pad Kee Mao. This is flat rice noodles with basil, garlic, and mixed vegetables. Choose a protein. I got tofu. Good spice but it was a pretty small portion. She got the Pad Thai. Again, small portion. That's why it was so cheap it seems. Better than expected as far as flavor, as it can get pretty hot. It's overall good with the only bad thing about it is they skimp on the portions. There's plenty of choices for vegans and vegetarians.

It was the perfect opportunity to try a variety of items. Here is what we ordered: Thai iced tea (4) Egg roll, vegetarian (4) Chicken satay (2) Pad see eiw w/beef (2) Crispy Thai noodles w/tofu (2) Green curry with tofu (2) Basil seafood with extra seafood mix (2) Mixed veggie stir-fry with shrimp (2) Mango and sticky rice (4) Overall, we were satisfied with the flavor profiles and everything was delivered in an efficient manner. The portions are not large and I think we would order two more entrees when we revisit with our large group of 14. We have had mango and sticky rice many times in the past. This is our first time having it with a purple-bluish color sticky rice. I don't think it made much difference with the flavors but the kids were turned off by it and refused to try. Then again, kids are sporadic and we can never truly tell what appeals to them. The mango was not ripe but this was back in March when mangos were not in season. Otherwise, we would definitely return and we are eager to try the other items such as crispy catfish curry and pepper squid.

The family‑run warmth is immediate, from the friendly service to handwritten signs highlighting the chef's specials. Dining as a pair, we started with the Cida Sampler, which includes two of each of their most popular appetizers--perfect for sharing and getting a taste of everything. My husband ordered the Broccoli Beef: tender slices of beef in a rich, savory gravy with perfectly steamed broccoli. Brown rice was available for a small upcharge, which he happily opted for. I chose the Roast Duck Red Curry, and one standout feature here is the ability to customize spice levels. I went super mild and still got deep, satisfying flavor without any heat overload. We ended on a high note with dessert: a silky, nutty Thai custard and a slice of green tea cheesecake--both excellent and well worth saving room for. Highly recommended if you're looking for flavorful, thoughtfully prepared Thai food in an unassuming setting.
