There were only 2 tables occupied on a Sunday night besides a few people picking up to-go orders. For this visit, I've tried: GREEN CURRY (CHICKEN), PRIK KING (CHICKEN), BASIL EGGPLANT (CHICKEN), PAD KEE MAO (BEEF) and CRAB RANGOON. I liked the flavors of the eggplant dish over the others, but unfortunately, they were all bland. The vegetables were fresh and added the crunchy texture to the dishes. The portions were big enough to share. The place is clean, and the service is pleasant. Would I go back? I'm not sure. I felt a little bad since they closed in half an hour. I don't understand why Asian restaurants close so early in Illinois compared to other States. We ordered chicken satay, Thai bbq chicken, green curry with beef, Thai custard. -chicken satay 5 - the chicken was very tender and juicy. It tastes great with the peanut sauce. -Thai bbq chicken 5 - don't sleep on this entree. The chicken was so flavorful and succulent, you don't really need the Thai sweet and sour sauce. The sauce does give it a more tangy taste. -green curry with beef 5 - it is spicy but the enjoyable kind of spicy. Not the kind of spicy that is just hot and you don't want to take another bite. It has a nice milky texture from the coconut milk. You may need to ask for more rice. -Thai custard - 4.5 - just the right amount of sweetness, not too heavy. read more

Had hot and sour sour shrimp soup! That was delicious. Then ordered Penang curry that was brought to me cold!! Must have been cooked day before or longer before I ordered. I make Penang curry my self at home and mine was much better and also freshly made. Very disappointed that this dish was not at least cooked to order. I will not order the curry again. We got a bunch of entrees to share - basil fried rice, Pad See Ew, Tom Yum soup, and red curry. Everything arrived hot and was really delicious! We went to Mai Thai for the first time ever. Overall it was a solid experience. The chicken satay appetizer was very good.The chicken was very moist. I ordered the crispy duck curry, and while it was tasty, the spice level wasn't there for me. My daughter got the chicken pad thai and it was very good. The inside could use some cleaning and there were no paper towels or toilet paper in the mens room. We will go back again. read more

Food is A-Okay. Whether you're looking for something quick and to-go or dine in and enjoy, Mai Thai got you covered. Parking lot is big, so no issues finding parking. It is BYOB if you feel like having a nice adult beverage to enjoy with some Thai flavors and there's a grocery around the corner in the same plaza which makes it convenient to pick up. Ambiance is casual and service is quick. While we've already dined in once and grabbed to-go from here within the last month can't say I've found a go to dish here. The Tom Kha soup, Basil Chicken, and Pad Si-Ew with Beef were all okay. Not the best Thai food I've ever had but it's not bad. Here are some of items that we have tried: Pad Thai with beef Chicken baby egg roll with lard nar and beef (lunch special) Crab rangoon with pad si-ew and beef (lunch special) Vegetable potsticker with pad si-ew and tofu (lunch special) Vegetable egg roll with mix vegetable and chicken (lunch special) Thai iced tea The lunch specials are a pretty deal with the exception of one small observation. The chicken baby egg rolls come in three whereas the vegetable egg roll come in one. I would think the latter is less expensive and should also come in three? Nonetheless, the overall portions are reasonable, flavors are vibrant, and service is speedy. We look forward to trying their curry items. read more

I am Thai. When I am visiting family in this area we always get take out from here (best one in area after trial and error with other places near by). This place consistently has yummy Thai food. Period. Chicken Satay - Juicy and Huge and i love how you get a big dish of peanut sauce and cucumber salad. Sticky Rice - fresh not an after thought. Curry - Green even has a nice kick with amazing coconut flavor Pad See Ew - a family favorite. Laab - fresh, spicy and seasoned just right and with ground chicken - which is my preferred traditional way. All in all, winner winner Thai dinner. read more

Typically asian restaurants with 3.5 stars are usually very good and authentic and this one did not disappoint! This place has some of the best crab fried rice and pad see ew that I've had in all of Illinois. People that say the food tastes weird or is weirdly seasoned don't know how real Thai food made from Asians should taste. The service was good, our waitress was attentive to our table and gave us space. I personally don't like waitresses that talk too much to us, I like talking with who I'm with so this was perfect. When you walk in you can just tell this place is legit. No super fancy decor, simple decor, kept together. Why simple decor? Because that means they're focusing more on their amazing food. One of our new favorite Thai restaurants that I wish I had found sooner! The noodle and curry dishes are far more authentic than other venues we have tried in this area, with my comparison coming from our honeymoon trip to various cities in Thailand a few years back. The noodles don't come doused in oil and over-sauced, which is a common theme in many restaurants here. The flavors are subtle, yet flavorful with fresh ingredients and veggies. On a rainy Monday in January, this place was deserted at 7:45 at night. Nevertheless, we were in the area and Thai food sounded good so we stayed. This turned out to be an excellent decision. The Tom Ka soup had an excellent balance between creaminess and spice. It was loaded with chicken. For the main course, the basil eggplant with chicken had perfect spice without being overly hot. The green curry with pork was spicier but still not overly hot. It actually bears quite a resemblance to Tom Ka soup with additional ingredients in it. NO cleanliness rating in the window or posted anywhere - I wonder why. Ordered the crispy duck - was given a blank expression and told it was not available. Ordered an appetizer sampler and the dumplings that were supposed to be on it were not there - in place was some fried tofu. The worse part was the shrimp in a blanket - RAW - I mean RAW. NOT cooked - spit it out. Had place an order for some other take home items - ginger chicken (barely any ginger flavor) - no sauce - and the curried fried rice was a) not curry flavored b) not fried c) rice was tiny TID-BITS. Most Thai people is friendly but this one staff(slim woman) working there is very rude and straight up a crook and tried charge us money than what actually amount. I placed order for three items and she "jacked up" the prices and told me to pay close to $40. I knew the prices for each item and it's not about $40. I pointed out that she changed me $2 more than what is advertised. She acted like she made a mistake and said sorry. I actually believed it was a mistake. Continued checking the item prices and found she charged another $1 more on another dish. She said sorry again and changed back the correct prices. It's no mistakes fellas. She tried to rip us off for more money. Probably I was wearing a backpack and looked a tourist. This staff entered all the "jacked up" prices in the computer and likely gets profit sharing. I've been ordering takeout from this place for years and it's been quite good. I just had an order from them and encountered some issues: 1. Their hours on their door says they're open 11:30 -8:30 but DoorDash and Google have a 4PM opening and they were not picking up their phones around 1:30PM 2. When I went to pick up the food she put two bags down in front of me. I paid and then asked are both bags mine and she said yes. At home I realized one of the bags was not mine. I called and they asked me to bring the food back. I did and the woman just took it didn't apologize in fact she looked pissed at me (same woman that said yes both bags are mine). 3. I've had their pad Thai there many times and it was always good. This time there was almost no sauce on it and it had a grand total of 3 shrimps in it. Is it under new management?
