I've been a regular at Yau's since I was little and my parents would take me to the owner's original restaurant in the city. So glad they are in the suburbs now. Great place for Thai/Chinese! Family owned for more than 40 years. You can taste their love through food and they are just the nicest couple. Service was inviting when the dining room was open. Since the pandemic, they are now only take out. But don't let that discourage you from ordering! Some favorites from Yau's is the fried smelt, that's lightly fried and has a delicious house sauce. The chicken satay and crab rangoon are always a must. Though, I think the crab rangoon is one of the best in the area. It's seasoned right, and not overly sweet or just a glob of flavorless cream cheese in the middle. The pad woon sen (glass noodle salad) is made of bean thread noodles, fresh red onion, cilantro, and tender ground pork. The house dressing is spicy and sour and great to eat as a lettuce wrap. The Thai friend rice with tender shrimp is epic! Don't get this confused with Chinese fried rice either. The Thai fried rice is seasoned differently and the rice is white compared to rice with soy sauce. It. Is. So. Good. My FAVORITE is the Lad Na beef. The beef is extra tender, the gravy is so flavorful and not salty, the wide rice noodles are crispy and tender, and the Chinese broccoli is steamed perfectly. Made authentically just like when I'm in Thailand. I see a lot of other Thai restaurants adding all kinds of veggies like carrots, mushrooms, and baby corn as a filler to bulk up and skimp out on the noodles and protein.

Wonderful place. They are only are to go right now. We got the chicken fried rice, the Mongolian beef, and the orange chicken, it was awesome. The egg rolls were really good too huge hunk of a whole fresh shrimp in the egg roll.

If you haven't been here you need to stop by and support this awesome local spot. It's not hot or trendy but it's super cute and old school! I've been here twice and the service is great. This is one of the few spots near La Grange whose pad thai I enjoy! BTW the portions are huge so you will definitely get full.

Very good pad Thai as far as flavor goes, although the Shrimp are dry. Portion was good as well. Good service but needs cleaning and decluttering. Could be a cute place if they organized a bit.

Lunch Appetizer - Chicken Potsticker and Chicken and Rice Soup. (Included as part of the lunch special for $6.50)

This is a quaint restaurant nestled in the heart of downtown Lagrange. The lunch special included a chicken potsticker (only one, but it was perfectly done and left me wanting more), chicken and rice soup and Tofu Pad Thai (deliciously seasoned and well presented; sizeable too). Chicken and Beef are the same cost, although Shrimp costs $1.50 extra. The only detracting things from an excellent review is that the space between tables is a little cramped (making me self-conscious of others overhearing our conversations, and vice versa), and the fortune cookie that I had seemed a little stale (but that may have just been one in the bunch).

Chai Yo Thai Cuisine - Thai Fried Rice (Shrimp)

Planned to have lunch at Benjarong but they are closed on Tuesdays so we went to Chai Yo. It had…read morebeen years since I've been there and I regret not going more often. Their lunch specials are very reasonable and just the right amount of food. I had the Pad See Ew which was delicious, came with a cup of egg drop soup (hot like soup should be) and a small spring roll. The dining room was small but cheery and clean and well decorated and the service was excellent. I plan to go back more often!

I'm so glad I gave Chai Yo Thai Cuisine a second chance!…read more This time I ordered spring rolls and the duck curry for take out. The spring rolls were good, but the duck curry was absolutely delicious. I asked for spicy and somehow they made it with the perfect amount of spice. There was a little bit of duck fat, but I guess that's to be expected with any duck entree. They were generous with the meat portion. I definitely plan to order this again. My go-to curry is usually the pnang, but I decided to change it up a little tonight. I also stopped by a few days earlier this week to grab a quick appetizer. That was my very first time visiting this restaurant. I tried their crab Rangoon. It wasn't my favorite filling, but other reviewers seem to love the creaminess. It might just be my person preference to have a different filling. Either way, the flakiness and freshness was spot on. Both of my take out orders were prepared quickly. The restaurant was very clean and inviting. The staff member and owner compensated me for the error made during my first visit. They were both friendly and seemed genuinely happy to make it right. I chose to give a bigger tip by putting the extra cash in their tip jar for their excellent service. Also, as I was walking out with my food order, I noticed a gentleman sitting down and ready to enjoy his meal. I greeted him with a "happy new year". I got the impression that he was a regular so I decided to ask him if he had a favorite meal at this restaurant. He responded by saying the Pnang curry is what he ordered this evening, and is also one of his favorites. I shared with him that I just ordered the duck Curry to go, but I usually order pnang He seemed intrigued with the duck. I have a strong feeling his next order will be duck curry and mine will be the pnang. Lol Starting the new year off right!

They have a cute barn door style for private dinning ( I assumed ) the doors were open. Once seated word the back of the restaurant we could hear people in the kitchen and found it odd no one had come out from the back This guy was alone manning the front of the restaurant We didn't blame him but service was less than adequate We had tea and the tea kettle was cute but needed a good washing There Long wait for food but we expected as much. We were juts excited to try a different place Egg drop soup and crab Rangoon were our top choices. Mongolian beef was not made spicey as requested and did lack flavor I would recommend the shrimp fried rice , it really lacked flavor.

The restaurant is pleasant with booths, tables and several private rooms for larger parties. There is an adequate cocktail, wine, beer and beverage list and we were happy with the Pinot noir we selected. There is a good variety of items -from dim sum to mini hot pots, classics, appetizers and mains. One of our party is vegan and he had many choices. We ordered spicy edamame, chicken pot stickers, chicken wings (the only dish I didn't especially like), hot and sour soup, vegan mayo tofu, chicken chow main with homemade noodles (more like lo mein), Yushan eggplant (stellar!), and Mongolian beef. The service was attentive, charming and not overbearing. We found the prices reasonable, especially in light of the quality. I highly recommend this restaurant.
