My rare 5 star review. Let's choose between Mexican food or Thai! My immediate thought is Thai, largely thanks to a fantastic experience at CIDA many years ago. This time, my partner and I were craving a Thai beer ( but i ended up with a Japanese Sapporo), and CIDA was the perfect spot. We started with the beef salad, which was, in our opinion, the best we've ever had. The bright citrus drizzle complemented the tender strips of beef beautifully, creating a universally enjoyable dish. For my main, I ordered the Pad Kee Mao. This dish featured Kao Soi noodles simmered with curry paste, onion, and pea-carrot, served over egg noodles and topped with incredibly tasty crispy noodles that I couldn't stop eating. The thick curry paste was amazing, and I'll definitely be back for it. The authentic taste of Thailand is truly here at CIDA; it's been a few years since my last visit, but the quality hasn't changed. I even asked our waiter for his favorite dish, and he enthusiastically recommended the Pad Kee Mao, saying it's what he eats every time he returns home to Thailand. Good place to get Thai food in Countryside. It's a small restaurant, but it packs in a lot of charm and of course food. Cida Thai has a menu of favorites along with many obscure items that are more authentic. Has no alcohol, which is the only bad thing about it. There's lots to get for vegetarians, including tofu as the choice of protein. Came at lunch and it was pretty quiet on the inside. It could have been a bad sign. This seems to be a place where most people get takeout. It would explain the lack of customers inside. Of course there's a few tables for those eating here though. It's about $12 for an entree. They also have the lunch specials on weekdays. I got the Pad Kee Mao. Pretty good stuff. This is stir fried flat wide rice noodles with bamboo shoots, basil leaves, bean sprouts, bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, and tomatoes. Choose the protein. I got tofu. Also choose how much is the spice level. The medium is plenty for many, but get the hot if wanting to be a bad ass mofo. For a pretty crappy looking place, it's actually good. We ordered 3 dinners for take out from Cida tonight. Shrimp Cida fried rice, Tofu Pad Thai and Chicken Lard Nar. Each of the three dinners was marked correctly on the lid. We tasted each one and they were all odd. The dishes did not taste like anything like we had previously eaten, and loved, in our other Thai experiences. The Pad Thai was red in color, had an odd taste and was without the usual peanuts and eggs . The Lard Nar was bland, watery, and the wide noodles were limp. The Cida fried rice was moist and bland. However, the protein in each dish was ample. This was our second time at Cida with the new owners. We do not recommend Cida and will not be back. read more

Cida is just an excellent, small, non-chain place. It's a cozy little spot with good food. The prices are average and the selection is solid. We started with the sampler trade for the table. Each item was a bite size piece, not greasy, and was flavorful. I had the Lad Nar Chicken and really enjoyed it. I would get it again. I ordered takeout, green curry chicken. It was delicious. The medium hot was on the high side for heat, but the curry was flavorful and worth the 40-minute wait (yikes). When I arrived to pick up my food, I sort of wished I had stayed and just eaten there. The restaurant has a nice ambience, and a warm, inviting feel. I didn't realize I hadn't reviewed Cida Thai yet. It's my favorite Thai restaurant. I must have gotten takeout from here 20 times or more. I've moved to the east coast, but make sure to get Cida Thai every time I visit IL. I normally get sweet & sour tofu, vegetable egg rolls, and tom yum soup. It's been delicious every time I've gotten it. The tom yum is perfectly flavored. I have a friend who is a very picky eater and a couple times he has ordered here and asked for special food accommodations (like plain pad thai with no veggies or meat), and his food has been perfectly made to order. It's hard to find good Thai food but Cida makes the search a bit easier. The food is good and fresh. My favorites include the Pad Thai, Lard Nar, Pad Si Ew and Curry dishes. I also really like the spring rolls and cucumber salad as appetizers. Service is relatively quick but they haven't offered indoor dining since the start of the pandemic. Crab Rangoon is delicious - very good flavor not just bland crème cheese! I also had pad woon sen with chicken and tofu. Delicious! The tofu was also flavorful by itself. My daughter-in-law had the islander fried and the seafood they put in there was well worth the price and fresh. I highly recommend this Thai restaurant! It's one of the best Thai food I have tried. The secret is the owner: she is not only a skillful chef but and amazing artist and a good friend! Kay has made me love Thai food through her recipes full with love and care. My sons new favorite restaurant and probably the best Thai in the western burbs. It's a little hole in the wall type place but really good food at a decent price. It's BYOB with a huge liquor store next door. We have killed our first bottle of wine and stopped over there for a second bottle. Plenty of parking in front and in back. We had visited a few times without our peanut allergic daughter. I've been nervous to bring her given all the peanuts in Thai food. Our son really wanted to come here for his birthday so I talked to the man behind the counter to see if they could handle a peanut allergy. More like 3.5 stars. This is the best Thai food in the area. Unfortunately, like every other cuisine, the Thai food around here is average at best. Good crab rangoon and fish cakes. Average for everything else- including noodles, stir-fries, salads, and curries. I have not had the soups. Decent service (occasionally slow). If you want to eat around here in general, keep going 10-15 minutes and stop in Westmont, Oak Park, Cicero, Bridgeview, or Naperville. I love that Cida offers "vegetarian style" for almost all of their dishes (I asked staff what this means and they explained that they have 2 different sauces - one without fish sauce that is vegetarian). I always get the pad kee mao with tofu which is loaded with fresh veggies, wide noodles, and fried tofu. It's not as flavorful as I'd like (or spicy... I ask for medium spicy and can hardly detect any spice so I will ask for hot next time) but it hits the spot! Plus it's super affordable and the staff are friendly.
