After moving back to the great Charleston area, specifically Summerville I googled salons. I'm happy to report I found that needle in the haystack! Located in a safe and easily accessible part of town, Attitudes Salon is the best choice for men's haircuts (sorry ladies, I can only address the men reading this). The reservations are easily made on the simple to navigate website and they'll even text you reminders. Walking up, I'm not sure what I was expecting for "Attitude," was it a biker, princess, or a pinky up attitude? The answer is the attitude what you'll leave with once your hair is finished, that of confidence and satisfaction. The inside is that of any other salon; shampoos, conditioners for sale and use here, obviously seats and stations to do their work and a cashier counter to name a few. The ladies here are very friendly, even at the early hours in the morning while all being able to smile with a energetic "Attitude." For my experience I had a wonderful stylist named Jami. Fair warning I had no clue who she was but as soon as I saw her, I remembered her from high school and while she's changed and no longer 21 (but 22....) she hasn't changed. What impresses me the most about stylist is they're also wonderful conversationalist, a good skill to have while passing the time. Jamie cut my hair with love, speed and accuracy while being able to hold a conversation, offer advice and most importantly take and give good jabs as in jokes. Honestly, she made my time fly by as I didn't have a care in the world but most importantly, when she was done my hair looked exactly like the photo I showed her. In wrapping up, Attitudes is a wonderful salon that takes pride in making their customers feel as if they're the focal point and striving to meet your expectations. The key is they go out of the way to make customers feel special by listening to your story, offering grounded insight and laughing at your jokes while styling your hair that is better than anyone else can offer for an affordable amount of money. I'm glad to have reconnected with Jami and took a chance with Attitudes b/c they now have a loyal customer. Overall, this is the best experience I've had in recent memory and I know they'll treat everyone just like their family too. Do you want an Attitude? If yes, then stop on by.

As for finding a good one, I've been through three and after a butcher job and a store closing I've found someone I entrust my furry noggin to and who never fails to go above and beyond. I decided to entrust my scalp to Mercer Hair Studio based on reviews. The store front is located in one of the most compact parking lots ever, I mean who planned this? Anyways walking in the décor is simple yet with a local art flair, demonstrating that these ladies are not only good at their craft but they're real artists at heart. This is good because of what I was there for took a certain amount of artistry not just a number 5 or a boys (men's) haircut. My stylist, whom wasn't exactly what I requested was gifted, exceptional at taking a picture and replicating in real life. Sitting in her chair the lady was caring and detail oriented except one issue, making sure every nook and cranny was addressed. She's not the fastest but above average and I believe that has more to do with my incessant jabbering and making jokes than her skill. As for the cuts, she was on the money but adding highlights or dyes she missed the task. Her dying was more like a whole platinum M&M style than highlights. I even gave her a picture so I wasn't satisfied with the amount she opted to put in my hair. I can't speak upon all the services provided here but from my experiences I'm some-what satisfied. The place is safe, but the prices are literally over twice what I was paying in Austin TX a year ago. In summary, be very diligent on the color and amount you want but be prepared to pay a lot more than other places. I don't believe their prices reflect some high level of quality, but it's far from poor.

Unfortunately what I walked out of the salon was far from what we had discussed and FAR from the color swatches we chose & 0 ashy tone. after she initially put my color on and washed me & began dryong me I could tell something was wrong. She kept making remarks about how she wasn't sure why the color/toner didn't grab and why it wasn't the color we agreed on. She also continued to ask me if I liked the root color brown - I didn't mind it, but it definitely wasn't the deeper brown that we agreed on. She then stated she could try to lighten some of my areas up and reapply the toner and see if it would grab on lighter pieces better. I specifically stated I didn't want large streaks I'd rather it look more melted/blended in if we did lighten bc I don't want thar feel, i wanted a bayalage feel. So I trusted her and she began highlighting areas of my hair. Mind you there's no color melting and I'm being foiled. She rinses me out and begins drying me and immediately it's a nightmare. Worse than before. I have a HUGE white streak that is not symmetrically placed at the front of my face - I love a money piece, but this is an out of place wide white streak. My hair is also noticeably damaged from this in this area as well. She states she feels bad and she can't allow me to pay her for her services because she knew the color was not what I wanted. I asked her to let me pay her for the cut and the eyebrow waxing. My total was 57.00 and I still left her a 26.00. She continued to state that she wasn't sure what happened. She was going to talk to "someone" and would definitely be reaching out to me, I told her I appreciated that and her time and we would get it figured out. It had been 2 entire days and I've heard nothing from her or anyone else at the salon for that matter. I am now upset because I was hoping she'd at least try to make her errors right. Feels very shady & honestly very unprofessional... she knew I was disappointed in what I walked out with 4.5 hours later. Receptionist greeted me right away. My hair was a mess and was in desperate need of a good cut. Shannon listened and studied my hair before proceeding. She cut dry and then shampooed and conditioned. Beautiful cut and I've already received several compliments. The best part, it looks just as good after I washed it as when Shannon did.
