My favorite spa in the charleston area! I've tried out several day spas over the years and I keep coming back to SoCa. The space is unassuming in a strip mall but as soon as you walk behind the curtain, it's like you're transported into a different world. They have the whole locker room set up with robes, sandals, hygiene products, personal lockers, and stocked showers, and it's always so clean. The waiting areas are spacious with relaxing music, essential oils, magazines, water, and snacks to accommodate whatever vibe you are looking for. They also offer heated neck wraps, which is a personal fave. I always opt for the muscle meltdown, which is their deep tissue massage. I've had Liz several times and am always impressed. She and all the other therapists are professional and super great at what they do. I will be a longstanding repeat customer! read more

Normally I'm sure SoCa is just fine, however yesterday I had a very poorly preformed massage from Jennifer. 90 mins that were neither relaxing nor therapeutic. Just not a great experience at all. I wanted to just tell her to stop and let me lay there for the rest of the sesession, but I just couldn't come up with a way to say it that didn't come across as rude. Either way, I'd give SoCa another shot, but will make sure I note to not have that therapist again. read more

SoCa Day Spa is my go to when I am in need for a great massage! I have been coming here for years and have received massages, facials, and body scrubs. The prices are very reasonable. The employees are always lovely and do there best to fit in last minute bookings like myself. When you arrive, you are greeted and provided a robe and slippers. There are changing rooms in the bathroom and lockers with keys to safely secure your things. After, you will be directed to a waiting room and provided with a warm neck wrap, water, and snacks. I ALWAYS try and book with Jennifer. She is no short of a miracle worker! She will ask what area you want to focus on and make sure you are relaxing and enjoying the entire time. A fabulous day spa tucked in a shopping plaza in North Charleston. The website is a great resource plus I like how you can set up an appointment online with the menu that includes descriptions of each treatment. SoCa does waxing, tinting, sugaring, skincare treatments, body scrubs, massages, and spray tanning. Upon walking in, I was greeted and offered a robe and sandals plus a locker to place my items. The front area waiting room is well lit and has ample seating. After a few minutes, it was time to begin the sessions. I went in for the Belles + Whistles (90 mins long) and back scrub (45 mins). Both felt incredibly relaxing, almost fell asleep after each session. Between the two sessions, I waited momentarily in the back waiting area which felt more zen with the dimmer lights, flowing water, and coffee/tea options you can make yourself. My esthetician also provided some delicious chocolates which I appreciated. I meant to point out to the front staff, but was blissed out: some locks don't work so be mindful of that when given a locker. Other than that, had the best time! She let me know upfront that she specializes in deep tissue and has a tendency to 'get in there,' and to let her know if the pressure was uncomfortable. I was in need of a facial so I decided to try SoCa. This spa was a lot closer to my house than the one I usually go to so I booked it after seeing great reviews online. I booked it about a week in advance. I booked the 60 minute organic facial. It is nice and clean inside with a comfortable waiting room. They have water and a tray of snacks to choose from. I have had many facials before and I must say I was a bit disappointed in the service I received. I was in the waiting room for 15 minutes into my booked time. I thought they would make this up in the end, but they still finished at the hour mark. I wrote that I had a specific allergy to nitrile gloves and that was all that they carry, so the employee ended up wearing no gloves at all. The girl took a lot of time trying to see if they had other gloves, which I guess they don't prepare for even if they see it in your notes? I also listed that I had two other ingredient allergies. When she went to get my face products, it took another 10-15 minutes for her to look. She apologized and said that it was because she looked at all the ingredients. I was given four different masks which I found odd, as most places only give you one during your treatment. I have also had a light massage given on arms and/or legs with a facial at other spas. This was not part of the facial here. For $80 I was given 4 masks and about 30-35 minutes of facial time. All in all I did not think it was worth it. Also, I had to ask the employee if she thought I had any issues with my face rather than her offering advice at the end. I wouldn't recommend it if you're used to better service. read more

I've been a long-time client of Soca; since they were located in old North Charleston/Park Circle. I haven't been but maybe twice since my regular massage therapist tragically passed away. Although I realize that those are tough shoes to fill, I really want to find a massage therapist who has that level of intuition and skill, but haven't yet found one. I decided to treat myself for my birthday, so, I scheduled a 1-hr Signature Massage for June 8. I selected this particular massage therapist due to the numerous mentions of her name in the reviews I read prior to coming. I am not posting this to offend anyone, to get my money back or for any favors. I wasn't going to leave a review, but I've since changed my mind after I gave this some thought because I believe this is constructive feedback. And I really want to love Soca again and come more often. Without mentioning her name, the paperwork and communication I provided to the spa and directly to my therapist indicated that I signed up for a "relaxing" massage versus the deep tissue massage. With exception to my neck, where I asked in advance if she could go a little deeper, the main focus was clearly communicated that I needed work on my neck, shoulders and feet. And I have no doubts that she is an experienced massage therapist, but I ended up receiving the majority of my "relaxing" massage, receiving deep tissue, to the point that I had to speak up a couple of times because she was much too aggressive and I could not relax because it got uncomfortable. At one point, she said, "half the people I massage love me, while the other half hate me." She explained that's because if she finds a tight area, she just gets "in there" like she can't help herself. (Despite what the client requested, I guess). I also felt like she went into deep tissue too quickly. When the massage was about to end, she announced she was finished, and she never even touched my feet. That is huge to me, especially when I clearly communicated that my feet needed attention. I wanted to relax, I didn't want a full body deep tissue massage, and I left with my feet still aching. I just wish this therapist would have listened to me. Maybe she meant well, but I didn't leave, "dancing" like I used to when Darlett was there. I am not sure who I can try next, but I definitely need to know that whoever it is, they can provide a massage that delivers what I've requested. read more

Once I did get changed for my massage I ended up waiting for another ten minutes because according to the masseuse no one told her I was there. I will not be returning. I stopped into Soca Day Spa a few Saturday's ago and had a 30 minute massage with Jennifer H. I have been dying for a relaxing massage, but didn't want to "treat myself". Well I was finally convinced after digging through my email and seeing a 10% off coupon. I had previously only been to Soca for a spray tan (for my wedding, which they did an amazing job at). I arrived a few minutes early. Checked in. Was shown to a locker room where I changed into a robe and some slippers. Relaxed in the waiting area, with calm music and hot neck cloth. The massage therapist was a little late, but I didn't care because I wanted to spend all day there if I could. The massage began. She was very gentle. Massaged my arms, legs, back, neck, EVERYTHING. She used some light coconut oil. The whole experience was just what I needed. Very, very relaxing. I am definitely looking forward to that next 10% off coupon and booking another appointment! Soca Day Spa made my Saturday relaxing and special. I bought myself a Diva for the Day Spa Day with lunch. From the time I walked in to the time I left, I was treated like I was royalty. They escorted me to the back to change into a robe and sandals. I changed and sat down in the waiting room where I filled out the paper that asked if I had medical problems and if there's anything they should know about. I also had a choice between chicken salad, green goddess salad or a wrap for lunch. In the waiting area, there was granola bars and trail mix along with cold cucumber water. I was escorted back for the facial first. It was in depth and amazing. It came with a foot scrub and relaxer as well. Then, I had my 60 min massage. DJ showed me some ways to assist with my neck pain as well as stretched me a bit. He also paid attention to my painful areas and lightened or deepened pressure as I requested. He was very good. Lunch consisted of the green goddess salad which was super yummy! I was then taken to do the seaweed body wrap. The wrap was not my thing. I'm not sure if I am allergic or what but my body started itching. I'm pretty sure I just had a reaction. Shaneice was super nice and offered the Swiss shower early to wash it off. The Swiss shower was amazing! I would come back and buy the shower only haha!! She offered to give me another wrap but I decided not to chance it. They took it off my bill. This is the place I come when I think of the spa. I have been here several times. It is always relaxing and everyone is so friendly. The spa itself is very relaxing and nicely decorated. Once your enter the relaxation waiting area, they provide you with a warm neck wrap which gets you ready for your services. They have little snacks in there with cool and hit water (in case you want to make some tea). My Etsy is Kelly and she does an amazing facial. She has a background in massage as well, so her facials are really good and relaxing. She always uses the steam for my facials which I love. I went there to get a massage and facial. The massage wasn't good. Didn't feel like the masseuse got into the places that I asked for. My shoulders hurt from her pinching so hard. The facial wasn't even really a facial she spent more time rubbing my neck and shoulders. Didn't really feel like she was extracting anything out. The spa was a great facility. I do appreciate a waiting room called "the relaxation room" although there's something about sitting in a room with strangers in a robe and rubber slippers that isn't quite what I'd call relaxing. I was there for a sugar and spice massage (the December special) and a head massage. I can't remember the name of the masseuse, but I didn't love my massage. When pressure wasn't too light, it was too hard. I did say more or less pressure, but she just couldn't seem to get it right. She was also very intent on getting the knots out of my shoulders with her elbows, which meant horrible soreness about 5 hours after the massage and made for difficult sleeping that night. For my head massage, it mostly felt like her rubbing coconut oil on my scalp and pulling/tangling my hair. She did a great job massaging the sides of my head, but that was the only real place she massaged. When I asked her to massage the middle of my head (I may have a slight OCD problem) she said we only had a few minutes left since they had scheduled an appointment after me. It seemed like maybe she was new at massage, I couldn't peg it. There were also random times she'd stop massaging for a few moments at a time. Sometimes I could tell it was to pick off a hair but other times it was like she spaced out and forgot I was laying there. Very distracting and a bit strange. I added the head trip, which was a 20-30 minute head massage with essential oils. Be ready to wash your hair immediately bc it will be so oily it will stand up straight! Pros: Good atmosphere, very nice and professional staff (they were attractive as well). My wife enjoyed the 3 hour spa day. Cons: I ordered the $15 lunch for my wife but it wasn't served. I wasn't charged for it but money wasn't the issue. I wanted her to have the experience. I called an asked for the manager to contact me and no one has returned my call. Paid for an hour massage to only get about 40 minutes. I arrived at opening time along with a friend. We were greeted, chatted with, asked to sign covid forms, brought to the dressing room and given robes and lockers. We changed, used the restroom and were then seated in another room to wait for our massage therapist. Once collected we were brought back to the room where the process was discussed. She then leaves for you to undress and get on the table where you wait for her to return. When the massage was complete it was exactly 10am. This provided about a 40 minute massage. I called to ask if that was standard to include check in and prep time because I'm not in control of most of that and was disappointed to not get what I paid for. I was assured that wasn't how it worked and the message would be relayed to management. I did receive a call late that evening that I was unable to answer with a message stating that she would try again the next day. That never happened, so the following day after that I called again only to not get a callback to try to solve this issue. I can only imagine what a 30 minute massage would've yielded counting prep time...a 10 minute massage?!?! This is unacceptable and calling has gotten me nowhere. read more

Absolutely wonderful experience! I had the day off work, so I decided to treat myself! To my delight I saw that SoCa had an online appointment scheduler. I made appointments for a brow sugaring and a organic facial, amazingly they had both available same day! I live far away so I left extra early to make it on time, I ended up arriving 15 minutes early. No problem, got me in right away. The entire spa is beautiful, everything smells amazing and so clean! First was the sugaring. Kelly was fantastic, quick and painless. She was so sweet and made sure I was happy with the results before I sat up. Next was the facial, Nicole was warm and welcoming. She clearly takes pride in her work and should. It was so relaxing. Overall it was one of the best spa experiences I have ever had and I highly recommend SoCa to anyone, man or woman. My friend and I wanted a massage while we were on vacation and this one was right across from our hotel. We did a duet massage, at an amazing price. My masseuse listened to everything I said, she was by far better than anyone I've had back home. I would highly recommend this place.
