Luna spa is a really fast, reasonably priced hard wax shop. Google maps makes it a little hard to find but it's right next to the Harley Davidson shop in the same mall as a tattoo place. The inside is very minimally decorated. It almost looks like a pop up shop, but for the price of services, it still feels like a steal. I've never done hard wax before but Luna was saying that hard wax doesn't adhere to skin so it might hurt less. Maybe I had a lot of hair because it still hurt just the same for me. Don't expect the small nice things that you might get elsewhere. A sheet to cover yourself when you lay down or aloe at the end, you won't get that here. This is strictly a in and out wax business. I still had bits of wax on me when we were done, but Luna is really fast. I was in and out in about 20 min. She's also a really fun person to chat with. read more

Luna is an amazing woman, and an amazing esthetician! I always go to her to get my waxes. She is very pleasant, remembers details about my life to talk to me about while I'm laying there getting tortured by her, and tries to make it as painless as she can. I have a problem with ingrown hairs, and Luna takes the time to take a tweezer (and sometimes other tools) to get those ingrown hairs out after she waxes me. She also gives great advice for at-home care for my ingrown hairs. I have even called her at her salon to ask her about what to do with a splinter I had in my finger before! I love Luna. I got my eyebrows waxed yesterday and my skin is so damaged. It was basically raw around my eye for the entire rest of the day. And now it literally looks like I have a phantom brow underneath my own. My eyelid is so inflamed that I can't even open it all the way. I like the shape of my eyebrows but was it worth having this ugly mark on my face and not being able to open my eye for the foreseeable future? NO. I decided to try Luna out based on the awesome reviews I read about her. I went in for a Brazilian sugaring and wound up getting a Brazilian wax at the suggestion of Luna. She said it would hurt less, since it had been over a year since my last sugaring and this wax only pulls the hair and not the skin. Whoooo baby did it hurt, and more than I remember my past sugarings hurting. The wax was so hot, I wonder if it burned me because a full day and a half later, my area was still visibly red. When she told me to take a breath, she ripped the wax off on my inhale, which is contrary to my experience where exhaling is what helps you get through the pain. When she was done, she told me to meet her up front and didn't take the time to clean me up or go over her work. I still had strands of wax on my pubic area and thighs and it even stuck to my pants when I put them on and worst than that, there were many visible hairs left behind. :( Luna herself was very sweet and personable and her place was decent but nothing extravagant. She did get me out very quickly so if you're looking for a speedy wax job at a fair price, this may work for you, I prefer the esthetician take a little extra time to make sure I look and feel good. read more

I went because of great reviews; however, my results and overall experience were pretty horrendous. I got a simple eyebrow shape up and lip sugaring. The woman I saw struggled with the sugar and could barely use it, definitely not professional grade. When I got home I noticed several hairs left on my eyebrows and lip that I had to pluck. And now, just 1 day later, my lip and certain parts of my brow are no longer hairless. Usually I make my own sugar paste and my results last for a few weeks, no hair at all. Same with any other time I've gone to a spa, it's a few weeks before I notice hair. Its NEVER the next day. Horrible results and not worth a penny. I'd expect to be completely hair free after paying $40 for eyebrows and a lip...unfortunately that's not the case though. read more

It was my first time having a Brazilian wax, and I was so nervous, but Alondra was so sweet and talked to me the whole time which helped a lot. So i was talked into getting a bikini wax. Ive never had a wax there and have always been afraid to. You end up believing the shows and movies (I ask you to remember the waxing scene in 40 Year Old Virgin..lol). It was nothing like that!! Jess was very calming and sooo fast. I did my whole bikini plus some in less than 10 minutes. I think the quickness helped make the experience not so painful. Love that they offer free touch ups the next week after your appointment. I had the pleasure of having a Brazilian wax done by Luna the owner. I am from California and was visiting a cousin in Charleston. I unfortunately did not have time to see my wax lady before I left for vacation and was desperately in need of having one done. I am very particular about who I have service any part of my body! lol but after reading all the fabulous Yelp reviews I decided to give it a try. I called the same day and to my surprise, Luna was available and able to take me within a few hours. Her location was literally doorsteps from my hotel which luckily for me was very convenient. So on to the good part- I have NEVER had a quicker more efficient Brazilian wax experience such as this one! She was so thorough and quick. I was literally amazed at how minimal it hurt! And she left literally no stragglers and had no need for tweezing. I am so impressed with her technique and I would highly recommend trying her out! If I lived in Charleston, I would most definitely be one of her regulars. First off she doesn't use those cloth strips, she uses the wax itself. She also informed me that the wax that they use has only 3 ingredients making it less likely to cause any irritation. I sooo appreciate this and you Luna for your professionalism and great work! You get what you pay for. Salon wasn't as clean as it should have been (perhaps an off day?). I've been waxed before so I know what to expect. Only 3 days later I had to shave to clear up areas that were not waxed properly. What's the point of paying to be waxed if you have to shave the exact same area 3 days later? I also had a reaction to the wax, which makes me question the wax itself. The reaction cleared up in a couple of days, thank goodness! The manager or perhaps owner also had a rude attitude / tone. I'm in Charleston for vacation and needed to start with some TLC for myself. I saw that Luna offers an $85 full body wax and decided to do something I don't usually do: I ignored the Yelp rating and made an appointment. I arrived 20 minutes early for my appointment and was in a room within 5 minutes. As I hadn't maintained my waxing, I expected an hour or more and settled in for the long haul. First plus: I was finished in 30 minutes. Half an hour!!! Disclaimer: my underarms hadn't grown out enough to be waxed, so we had to skip that part. Second plus: Luna uses hard wax on the face and brazilian (soft wax on the legs). I've never had a new brazilian wax hurt less. I think the speed played a huge role. It happened so fast, my brain hardly registered the discomfort. Third plus: The esthetician seemed in tune to me as a client. When I wanted to talk she made good conversation, and when I needed to focus on my breathing she didn't pester me with small talk. I'm sorry I didn't get her name, but she is a curly blonde with tattoos and she told me she's from northern Mexico. Fourth plus: Luna offers a complimentary follow up one week after new brazilians. This is huge!!! Lots of people get home after a new wax, see hairs days later, and think they've had a poor wax done when really they just need to sync up with their hair growth cycles. The fact that you can go back to get that pesky second round of growth taken care of is clutch. Regrettably, I will no longer be in town to take advantage of this. Fifth plus: I read an older post concerned about cleanliness. I found the establishment spotless and the staff using best practice (no double dipping, sanitizing before and after use, lining the bed, wearing gloves, etc) My only possible complaint: as my underarms weren't grown out enough to be waxed, I hoped I wouldn't be charged the full price of the service. In considering my rating however, I wouldn't take off a full star for that because the price is still killer. For $85 plus tip I got full leg, full brazilian, lip, and brow in THIRTY MINUTES. I'd pay that for the brazilian alone to be finished so quickly. In conclusion, don't judge this book by its cover. Give it a shot!!! read more
