I've given this restaurant good reviews before because I genuinely enjoy their food, and when I first had the oxtails they were absolutely delicious & tender. That's why I kept coming back. Unfortunately, the quality has become inconsistent. The oxtails have repeatedly been very tough and chewy, and this most recent order also had rice with hard pieces that made it difficult to eat and enjoy. I called the restaurant to let them know because I wanted to give them the opportunity to make it right, but I was told there was nothing they could do other than offer more rice due to a no-refund policy. I'm disappointed because this is the only place I know of in my area with good oxtails. As this is also an expensive meal I really just want the quality to match what made me come back in the first place. I like the owners & support the business. So I came here while visiting family and I was not disappointed. Its in the old Marley Station Mall by the movies. It wasn't crowded so there was no wait and plenty of seating. It was clean and the staff was nice and helpful. I ordered the shrimp bowl, crab rolls and the pineapple ginger drink. The shrimp bowl was sooo good. The shrimp were a nice size and well seasoned. All of the ingredients were fresh and the yum yum sauce was a delicious touch. The crab rolls were A+....very cheesey, full of crab, the fried crispy. My top favorite was the pineapple ginger juice it was so good, very refreshing with the good bite of ginger...loved it. Overall I do recommend and I will be back to try the honey glazed salmon and the ox tails!! read more

Very good experience here! I've been here a few times now and so far so good! The food... love the options here and of course the taste! I've had the catfish, salmon and jerk chicken so far, and each meal has been phenomenal. Staff have been nice, patient and helpful. I love the scenery here as well. This was a beautiful gem to finally try. We went on a Sunday and they were packed. The service was great, we went up to the cashier and placed our order. We got fried catfish sweet potato's and greens, and salmon red beans and rice with sweet potato's. The food was delicious, my only issue was that they used the same spatula to cook the chicken on the grill, with the salmon on the grill. read more

Service A friendly, person greeted me as I walked in. I specifically asked before looking at the menu what they were out of, since I was arriving very close to closing. Instead of answering the person asked me what I had a taste for. I further explained that I specifically was asking because I didn't want to look at the menu and get my tastebuds ready for something, to find out that they ran out. I was responded with they didn't know and I would have to order because that is how their brain worked. Seems a bit odd, seeing I wasn't going to receive the information in advance, I proceeded to order a Beef Patty, to which they told me they were out of it. ‍ I also thought it was odd to have removed all of the food off of the hot water bar which was keeping the food warm and set it on the counter behind the register. Leaving it to be luke warm, uncovered and that can't be to health code. I get that I was coming an hour be for closing, still didn't seem like the best practice IMO. With this experience, I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu and then left. Curry Chicken Patty I enjoyed the heavy curry flavor, giving it a good spice level. I was not a fan that the curried chicken filling was minced so small that it was the consistency of baby food, the texture was not my jam. The patty was very dry, possibly due to being stored in a heat box? All in all it was a decent patty. Being a brand new place, I was hopeful, perhaps it was an off night? I visited Marley Station 3 times today and it wasn't until the 3rd visit that I noticed the name "Thelma Kitchen." I could not resist going in to see what they had to offer. I just knew Ms. Thelma had some good food to offer. The menu was fully loaded. I ordered the Salmon Bowl. It is absolutely delicious. It is so good that I had to stop eating to do this review. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The restaurant staff are very friendly. I can't wait to tell my family and friends about this place. The food is just too good to keep it to myself. Terrible!! They gave me yesterday's Mac and cheese instead of the new one she brought out! it's was early opening time about 11 am that's why I say yesterday Mac and cheese! I thought the oxtail was going to be tender and in gravy it was like grease and the oxtails was hard to chew! I spent over $100 and the only thing was was good was the crab rolls!!! The food was very well seasoned and delicious. The curry chicken was the best curry I have tasted outside of my wife's. It makes you feel as if someone from the islands is definitely in the kitchen. The jerk chicken was good, although I asked for all dark meat and was told they would give me all dark meat, I received some white meat. There is a dollar charge for refills from the fountain drink station. That and the white meat are the reasons why I gave them 4 stars. I was looking for a caterer to cater my 50th birthday party and came across Thelma's kitchen. Chef Monique immediately called to set up a tasting, which some cateres do not do. My first tasting was the teriyaki lamb chops. At that moment she won me over. The lamb chops were so tender and had a great taste to them. Her seafood egg rolls, oh my goodness, try them, you wont be disappointed. My guests at my party was pleasantly pleased with the food. Some asking Chef Monique for the recipe lol. Came in the mall and remembered Thelma's was there. I got the jerk chicken and two sides. I was bummed they were out of mac and cheese. However, the green beans and cabbage still hit the spot! Would not recommend. Terrible customer experience. Long story short my order was wrong, no problem people make mistakes. What was a problem was the nasty attitude and dismissive rude behavior from the fair skinned girl claiming to be the manager. She basically crashed out because SHE made my food wrong and I requested it to be made over. After telling me it would be 25 minutes I politely declined and asked for my money back. She said there were no refunds. No refunds for an error you made and food I didn't touch? You expect someone to wait 25 minutes for a mistake you made and you couldn't find another solution besides being unaccountable and rude? She was so mad she was shaking... I was so baffled lol. She was so mad that I asked for my money back she was even holding the food I did pay for captive. SMH. To the real business owners, your food is amazing but no matter how good a product is, a business will not sustain with bad customer service. And to the cashier, manger/ food cooker whoever you are.
