This place definitely has character. The interior looks pretty old and worn down, and honestly, it sometimes smells like wet napkins when you walk in. It's not the prettiest spot, but the food absolutely slaps and the prices are very reasonable, which makes up for a lot. My favorite parts are their weekly trivia nights and the arcade -- both are a lot of fun and give the place a lively, laid-back feel. There's also a bar area with a decent ambiance, though I usually stick to the dining side. The staff are consistently nice and friendly, which helps the overall experience. Such a unique place! Restaurant/bar in the front, old school arcade in the back! Went in on a Friday afternoon with a group of 20+ and our server Shelia was amazing! Cream of crap soup was perfect and had large chunks of crab, and the Chesapeake chicken with Alfredo was delicious! Hushpuppies got the seal of approval from everyone at my little table, even the southerners! Stole a bit of my friend's steak on her salad and it was cooked to perfection. I went with some friends to this spot to celebrate the end of my summer semester. A couple of our friends have been here before and highly recommended it and I see why! We sat at the bar to get some drinks and food. Our bartender was April and she was very friendly and attentive to our group. We tried a variety of food including blackened ahi tuna (some of the best I've had!), clam strips (delicious, light batter, tender, nice tartar sauce), mac and cheese, hush puppies (fantastic), and more. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. We then headed into the arcade. They have lots of pinball and retro games. The games are quarter based; bring your own or there is a change machine and atm (fees apply). You can also give cash to your bartender/server for quarters. Bought a dozen of extra large crabs to go. Only received 10. Called and was told I should have counted them BEFORE I drove an hour home. Like it was my fault for trusting them. They ended up giving me a discount but only 1 crab was extra large and more than half of my crabs were soggy and too mushy to eat. Very disappointed. read more

This is a fun crab boil restaurant with a casual atmosphere and great service. The food was good and we enjoyed ourselves. Stick around after and enjoy the back room with all the pinball machines. My only complaint is that they charged us for using a credit card, so be prepared. Finding this to be more common now. I used to come here in the 90s. It's definitely a staple in the community and it brought me back to times we could play the arcade games here all day after school. My homegirl works here and it's her family's business. I really can't say anything negative about it, but it's a solid 4 stars for me. There are 2 sides to this place, one side has the arcade games and pinball machines. I was on the other side at the bar, in front of the TV watching the game. This occurred January 4th because I was watching the Ravens at home against the Browns. The Long Island was good, probably a little too sweet, but good. I couldn't drink it all. The wings were a good size and really hot. The crab fries was good and enough for 2 people and I couldn't eat it all. The customer service was top notch. The environment was great and I will be back to rate my arcade game experience. read more

Jeremy is adopted. When he found his birth family, his brother (who had been living across the street from us for about 7 years) had moved to North Dakota before we met him. And then he died. However, we spoke on the phone with Josh many, many times, and during one of those conversations we were talking about crabs - and how much Josh missed them. So I asked him where he liked to eat, when he still lived here, and Crabtowne was one of his top places. Ever since then, I have been wanting to check it out, especially when I did some research and learned about their arcade room. How quirky!! We finally went last Sunday (sorry for the delay in reviewing. It's been a helluva a week), with a friend who had gone to high school with Josh, and her husband. An even more ridiculous bit of the brothers story is that we went to North Dakota for Josh's funeral. It took four days of traveling by car. It was the first time Jeremy met his birth father, and nephew, but it was also the first time we met many of Josh's friends. So many amazing people drove halfway across the country to honor Josh, and met his brother who lives in their same neighborhood, including the above mentioned friend from high school. What a complex way to make friends! Jeremy and I arrived early, because we're impatient people, which worked out because there was a bit of a wait because it was Sunday evening in the summer in Maryland and Crabtowne has steamed crabs (imagine that!). We sat at the bar and had drinks while we waited for a table to open up. The bartender was great! Friendly and fun. We ended up talking about her pen collection (she has some good ones, let me tell you, including glittery ones!) and how she'll chase people down if they try to take them. Some locals were also at the bar, and I enjoyed talking to them as well. We didn't have to wait long for our table, and were able to order drinks for our friends so they could enjoy as soon as they sat down. There was some kind of Shark Bite drink on special, that was blue and had a gummy shark in it, and was tasty enough that more were ordered. They were out of cream of crab. Apparently this is common for Sundays, and I'll accept that, but if a place consistently sells out of an item on a specific day, I feel like maybe they should make more on that day, but Crabtowne certainly isn't hurting for making more money. I ended up eating the hush puppies that came as a side with Jeremy's Scallop and shrimp dish. They were exactly what I needed in life. Perfection. Jeremy also gave me a taste of both the scallop and a shrimp, both were beautifully cooked. The kind of thing that you wish you could just sit there and eat for an hour, but you only get 5 of each. I also ate his mashed potatoes, which were fine, but could have used a sauce, gravy or something to loosen them. He also got a cheeseburger, which I did not taste (so it must have been good because it disappeared before I realized I should ask for a taste) and some VERY good fries. I actually didn't pay much attention to what our friends ordered or how much they enjoyed their meals. That tells you how good the drinks were, I guess. I'm going to be honest with this review... and this review, is for MY cousins (iykyk).... there wasn't much, if any of US at Crabtowne. Anyway - this place, for what it was, was decent.To be straight forward, I probably wouldn't return. The mussels were average - layered in a white sauce that wasn't bad, but wasn't.. good ya know? Just ehh, okay. The calamari was good, crunchy. And the suggested crabcake sandwich, weird. Not in taste per say, but aesthetic lol. See attached pictures. After a particularly long day at work, hubby and I decided to hit a happy hour. We grabbed the kids from the school bus and used Yelp to find a spot. Crabtowne was advertising "Thursday $1 Wings". We knew they had the arcade for the kids so we opted to go there. I am beyond happy that we did! The staff was friendly, the service was awesome, great food and drink specials (HH was 3pm-6pm), everything was tasty, multiple TVs to keep you occupied, lottery games available for purchase while you dine in, and the arcade was full of nostalgic machines like pinball & Mr. & Mrs. Pac Man! It was definitely a HAPPY hour for my whole family and I! I also love that you can purchase steamed crabs individually because I just wanted to taste them, (And they were served fresh, piping hot, and delicious!). Would you believe this was my first time ever stopping in Glen Burnie? Driven by it many times constantly seeing the highway sign, but I've never stopped there proper! A friend of mine suggested swinging by this spot for happy hour, and of course I'm always down for somewhere new! It was late afternoon and the parking lot was already full! They have happy hour from 4-7 on weekdays, and includes drinks and food. Game day specials are even crazier -- they have $2.75 margaritas! There are three bars -- two on the front side and one other (and plenty more seating) all the way in the back. I sat at the bar, which filled up fast, and I got a Bee Sting, which was like a Twisted Tea with moonshine. It was tasty! I then got the seasonal mule, which had Razzmatazz in it. Nice flavor profile! There happened to be an oyster shucker present that day, so I got a dozen of those for $1 each -- there were 3 different kinds! What I was not prepared for was the middle room -- A WHOLE ARCADE!!! The games ranged from 25 cents to 75 cents, and I played something I never have before -- Gyruss!! I really had fun! It was a hefty selection too -- probably the best retro arcade scene I have seen in Maryland so far! All this to say... I'm coming back. For food, drinks, games... all the things!!! This was my first visit to this restaurant and I will own that it was my mistake going here on Mother's Day. That being said, we were greeted, seated and waited on promptly. When looking over the menu, I saw a notice at the bottom of the menu that said there would be a 3% surcharge on credit card purchases. The friendly waitress verified that this was indeed true and correct. We ordered a dozen of the medium sized male crabs. The price was $100 per dozen of these sized crabs which I assume is about right for this time of year. They were brought out quickly enough and my initial response to the server was "are these crabs even legal size?" Of the 13 crabs that were delivered, 4 were decent, full and delicious. The rest of the crabs were very light, soggy (waterlogged) and one crab was out and out bad. It is my feeling and my opinion that we were given crabs from the bottom of the cook pot that had been sitting in water all day long. Adding a 3% surcharge for using a credit card is a rip off for the customer. Who carries that kind of cash around with them anymore? My Mother's Day dining experience was very disappointing. read more

This place is fun. They have a huge arcade place on the side and the restaurant is very spacious. Our server, Courtney (if I recall) was very helpful. Three of us decided to order a dozen medium crabs. It took awhile but the crabs came out warm. They give you mallets and a bucket to discard the shells. The medium seemed small so I can't imagine what the smalls are like. They were tasty. We didnt order anything from the regular menu but there were a bunch of customers who ordered and it looked good. They were out of XL crabs so we got two dozen medium crabs to share with our party and I ordered a side of hush puppies and a two crab cakes platter that my husband and I shared. The crabs came out piping hot. They were a bit watered down. A friend rated it a 3 out of 5. One of my friends liked her cream of crab, but wished that it came out hotter. Everyone tried the crab dip waffle fries and it was a hit! Everyone loved it. The hush puppies and crab cakes were good. The crab cake didn't have a lot of filler and was all meat. I went here in August for lunch. It's dim on the inside, but comfortable. I was greeted promptly and shown a small table since I dined alone. Angie or Annie was my server and she was so pleasant and attentive. I ordered a half dozen medium crabs, and the steamed shrimp lunch special. Everything I ordered tasted fine. This was my first time at Crabtowne but definitely not my last. I love the fact that there was an arcade with reasonably priced games and lots of pinball machines in the middle of the restaurant between the two dining areas. The fact that you could go and play games while waiting for your crabs to arrive or any other food items was amazing. I found old school games from my childhood there and also pinball machines I hadn't seen for years. The food was good, although the crab prices were outrageous. $170 per dozen of the extra large steamed crabs! We got two dozen and can't believe we spent that much on steamed crabs. I'm not sure if that's the going rate for these big huge crabs or not because I haven't had many opportunities to eat steamed crabs in the recent past. They did have a special on their door that day which was $100 for two dozen small male crabs, and we could have gone that route, but we would have needed it a lot more than that for the four of us that ate crabs. Crabs. We would have required probably at least four dozen crabs if not more and therefore it wouldn't have been any better with any cost savings. The bowl of crab soup that I had before the steamed crabs arrived was excellent. It had jumbo lump crab meat in it and it was seasoned well and tasted delicious. I would get that again in a heartbeat. The hush puppies were also very good. I didn't have any other appetizers or entrees because the crabs did it for me. But other members of our party had burgers and Mexican food and other things that just looked really good. I didn't taste any of the other dishes but visually things look great. As far as drinks, most of us had water but I did have a 16 oz national Bohemian draft which was wonderful and really inexpensive considering everything else. As a matter of fact, looking at the alcohol menu, prices were very reasonable, much more so than other places that I frequent where I live. Our service was outstanding. Our server though having only been there for 3 weeks, was really good and knowledgeable. Everyone else who came to deliver the crabs or bring us some of our meal was very personable and friendly and nice and wanted to assist with anything we needed. I will definitely be back. Probably to have more steamed crabs and also play a lot more arcade games. I got there much later than everyone else and therefore I didn't get a chance to play the games as much as I would have liked to. I highly recommend visiting here and I look forward to coming back here in the future. read more

She was so kind! I ordered half a dozen steamed crabs and shrimp, Maryland crab dip in a bread bowl, large fires and a burger that also came with some fries. Their steamed crabs are cooked FRESH and I can tell because it was very moist and hot even after the drive home. Their fries are thick cut steak fries and their crab dip was delicious and full of crab meat. Their shrimp came with shrimp dip that had a lot of horseradish in it, and I loved it!! There is plenty of parking here and the inside has an arcade and a bar. The ambiance is very casual. All the food was spectacular for glen burnie! We ranked it as follows: crab fries, steamed shrimp, Brussel sprouts, hush puppies, and corn on the cob. I was craving a sweeter sauce with the hush puppies, but (the horseradish? in the given sauce) was a little too strong for our taste. If you like horseradish, you will love all their sauces! We unfortunately picked a really busy area of the restaurant to sit in. We sat the first hightop table out of the kitchen where it was quite the hotspot for guests, food runners, and a tight squeeze for everyone walking past us, lol. I stop by this place by happenstance. What a great find! I was so hungry when I came in that it was there five to lose. They definitely held up there end of the bargain. I really enjoyed the crab cake sandwich as well as the fries. For appetizers, I ordered the rock fish tenders and the crab dip fries. The rock fish was cooked fresh and with a lemon squeeze was perfect. The crab loaded fries included plenty of crab meat. For entrees we ordered 1/2 of medium blue crabs which were steamed fresh and tasted well. The crabs were meaty. The recommended entree the seared scallops were a little underwhelming. The steam delight (I think it's called this) which includes 1 cluster of snow crab legs, shrimp, and red potatoes unfortunately was lukewarm. The Brussels sprouts are a highlight for me. I was in the mood for some shrimp so we went to this gem that's hidden on Crain Highway. It looks like this place is a favorite and could get busy. Our wait time was just about 10 minutes so we made it just in time. Dingy but for the most clean to eat. No music but I was able to hear my thoughts and the conversation of others. The quality of the food we ordered was as expected. My entree of "Fish and shrimp" was fried just right. The hush puppies were delightful. And waffle fries and crap dip were a great combination. The drinks were strong and made just right. I highly recommend the caramel mule. The hint of alcohol with the reminisce of caramel candy of my childhood. If you love oysters, Crabtowne should be your first choice for the best oysters in Maryland. The oysters are the best! Oyster Fridays are the absolute best! Oyster shuckers on site. Watch your oysters open up right in front of you. Try the oyster on the half shell. Try to oyster stew for a warming comfort on cold days. Try the Oysters Rockefeller for a taste sensation! Or maybe you might love an Oyster Shooter! They go down so smoothly. No matter your favorite way to enjoy an Oyster, the service comes with a wonderful smile, a laugh or two and great the servers are so awesome! My visit today, I was blessed to have Angie and Angie taking care of me. They both are top notch! You cannot help but love them! The entire restaurant offers so much. Great atmosphere, great decorations, great employees (all of them) great drinks, great food, and there is such an awesome game room that the whole family can enjoy! The also have the Maryland State Lottery. What more could you ask for in a dining establishment? I would travel hundreds of miles to come back and I will have to as I am moving out of the area. I ordered food from Crabtowne on Monday 9/23. My part of my order was wrong but it was a genuine mistake on the new employee's part as two of the items on the menu have a similar name. We wanted a crabtowne sandwich with a crab cake and we received a crabtown burger with a crab cake on white bread. But there was also glass/plastic in my pasta salad which was the bigger issue. As I also consumed it. When I called and asked to speak to the manager, the manager did not introduce himself when he came to the phone & I had to ask for his name which is Donnie. I explained to him what was the issues were with my order. It did not sound sincere or concerned at all. When I arrived back at the store, he inspected the food and then immediately blamed the new employee behind him on the order mistake on her instead of being a proper manager and just apologizing for the lack of training or being there to aide the employee as when they was taking were taking our order over the phone, they acknowledged that they needed the managers help but the manager was "too busy" to aide her. I did not appreciate that interaction at all as you could see this changed the new employee's entire mood and seemed embarrassed. The manager did not offer a refund and still did not seem genuine or concerned about the glass/plastic. Instead he said "it's looks like a piece of the to go lids" and my reply was that my lid was intact and the glass was in my pasta salad not just sitting on top of the pasta salad if that was the case. It looks like something, maybe the spoon they use to scoop the pasta salad broke off or something. Regardless he was not apologetic. He did not offer a refund even a partial refund. As we were extremely inconvenienced by having to take two trips to the restaurant. He only offered us two pieces of cake and to properly make the crabtowne sandwich and replace my pasta salad with fries. In the end, my fries were never received. We only got our sandwich and the cakes. Upon leaving, I personally apologized to the new employee and wanted to let them know that in no way do I blame them or upset with them. The manager did not respond or handle the situation in no way a manager should have. I do not think I will return to this restaurant solely on the interaction I had with the manager. read more
