I was So excited to try this place out!! They are known for their fun innovative ice cream We walked in to some fun flavors and sins amazing looking pictures of what they offer! There's so much to choose from! I got the Dubai chocolate ice cream cup. It was amazing. It came with pistachio ice cream, milk, chocolate, ice cream, whipped cream, pistachio drizzle and chocolate drizzle absolutely delicious! My husband gone butter, pecan with brownies and whipped cream, which was very tasty as well! Honestly the ice cream was good.. But for being such a fun looking ice cream shop and for being downtown Phoenix. I expected the vibe in there to be a little bit more inviting a little bit more fun and upbeat! I mean, at least some music playing! Once the other customers left, it was just my husband and I was sitting there the employees were nowhere in sight there's no music no entertainment at all inside. and outside, you can see the hustle and bustle of the nightlife which was nice! To be honest with you going to the restroom, there was music in that hall that was inviting, and there was music in the restroom that was more inviting than the actual ice cream shop! To go in get your ice cream and leave would be great. But if you want to eat inside it's just very bland very plain and very uninviting for as cool and fun as their ice cream options are I just expected the place to be a little bit more fun going. It lacked in that area for sure, but the taste of the ice cream was delicious.
My mom and I literally stumbled into this adorable little ice cream spot in downtown Phoenix while hunting for a sweet treat on vacation, and OMG... destiny!! Not only was it super cute inside, but they had an entire gluten-free menu for me to choose from. Like--an actual GF wonderland. I nearly cried. The guy working the counter was ridiculously nice and let us sample basically the whole store. Unlimited samples?? Don't threaten me with a good time. We were out here tasting flavors like we were on "The Bachelor: Ice Cream Edition." Now let's talk about the 'Strawberry Frappe'.I can't even describe the flavor because my brain still short-circuits when I think about it. Just trust me--it's different, it's magical, it's what Strawberry Shortcake would drink on her day off. I wanted two flavors SO badly, but the two-scoop cup was basically the size of my head. They should let people do a mini cup with two flavors... buuuut I asked nicely (with big doe eyes) and got away with it. Hehe They also had a chalkboard wall where we could sign our names, so of course we doodled like we were famous artists. Honestly, I'm expecting MoMA to call any day now. If you're visiting downtown Phoenix,go check out this ice cream spot!! Like... run. Don't walk. I'm still dreaming about it.
I took my three adult kids, ages 14, 18, and 21, to The Yard Milkshake Bar on Sunday, August 16 around 3 PM because we wanted to experience something fun, unique, and exciting together. After reading reviews and considering our options, we were really looking forward to this experience. When we arrived, we were excited by the variety of flavors and the over-the-top presentation. Unfortunately, once we started looking more closely at the products, we became concerned. The ice cream in the freezer appeared extremely soft and partially melted, and we noticed significant condensation around the cookie dough/batter. It did not give the impression that the products were being properly maintained or stored. The milkshakes certainly LOOK impressive, but once we actually tasted them, the quality was very disappointing. The ice cream did not have the creamy consistency or quality I would expect for the price. It tasted like inexpensive, low-quality ice cream, and the whipped cream was also warm rather than cold and fresh. At that point, it felt like we were paying primarily for the presentation, jar, toppings, and "wow factor" rather than quality ice cream. I also noticed packaged items such as Chips Ahoy cookies, brownies, and sugar cookies being used as toppings, with some of the original store packaging visible. There is nothing inherently wrong with using packaged products, but when the actual ice cream isn't high quality, it becomes difficult to justify the price. The most concerning part of our visit, however, was what happened with an employee. One employee arrived wearing what appeared to be pajamas and had a kitten/cat on her shoulder. She took the cat toward the back and later was behind/near the register preparing drinks while she and another employee were interacting with the cat around the food and snack area. Seeing an animal being handled in an area where food and food-service items were being prepared was extremely concerning. As a customer, I should not have to wonder whether pet hair or dander could be getting near food. For anyone with a cat allergy, this could be especially concerning. Once I saw this, I stopped eating my milkshake altogether. I sincerely hope the owners or management take this review seriously. The staff need proper training, and the food-storage, cleanliness, and food-handling practices should be carefully evaluated. A fun atmosphere and impressive presentation can only go so far. Quality, cleanliness, and proper food handling should always come first. We went there expecting a memorable dessert experience with our kids. Unfortunately, the experience was memorable for all the wrong reasons. My recommendation: save your money and look elsewhere. We spent $81 on this visit.
This place is magic! We stayed near here and had a late night craving for some yummy ice cream. We were so happy to have found this spot. My husband was so excited to have so may amazing options. It was the most delicious ice cream we have had in a long time. So many creative milkshakes and ice cream flavors. Service was good. He has lots of patience with us when ordering. Place has a ton of seating. This is a MUST experience.
Milkshakes here are insane! I had a salted caramel milkshake that came with a huge piece of caramel cheesecake right on top of the glass it was crazy. Major sugar overload but a super fun experience.
Great little ice cream spot in DT Phx. It has all kind of gimmicky options of ice cream and shakes to choose from. Me personally I like to sticking to classic treats. I do feel like the pricing is up there but I guess you pay for the experience. When busy service does tend to move a bit slow, so you might have to wait an extra couple of minutes. The ice cream is blue bell so being from Texas we know it's good lol. Would say it's worth it on hot day.
Cool hangout and ice cream presentation. They have a jar washing sink to wash your jars to take home. Service was quick. Unfortunately, restrooms are not available
The prices are very reasonable with huge sizes! My favorite was the rocky road which they did so well with amazing chocolate flavor, almonds, marshmallows! The Cookie Monster flavor was also pretty good. The service was alright and ambiance could've been better as it was cold with windows open and dirty tables. Overall not a bad experience though! One of the better "'meals" I've had in Phoenix
So many flavors to choose from. They have bowls and jars you can take home, waffle cones and much more. There is so much space and they have a cute area near the front door for two. The service was great, staff as friendly. The only thing I would say is that it is pricey, not your small ice cream shop, keep it mind it is downtown and everything there is pricey. I would recommend.
The milkshakes here are so fun, we tried a couple different ones and enjoyed them all. Customer service was good and the restaurant was clean, definitely recommend trying it out if you're in the area!
The ice cream is good and I liked what I ordered! The specialty bowls and shakes all look delicious just like on the menu. However, my ice cream was melting and served with syrup and a mess all over the outside of the cup. The service isn't great and pretty slow. The tables are sticky and the chairs are messy with crusted food on them like they haven't been cleaned in a while. There's no water cups which would be nice to have in a specialty ice cream place like this. It was pretty hot inside the restaurant too, like there wasn't air conditioning on. Paid parking is available very close by.
Came here with a couple friends for a little dessert adventure, and it definitely delivered on the aesthetic. The ice cream was super creamy and flavorful. The vibe is cute and Instagram worthy, and they have fun flavor combos. That said, it is a bit on the pricey side, but it makes sense considering it's in the downtown CityScape area. If you're in the mood to treat yourself (or just want a photo worthy dessert), it's worth a stop!
The Yard Milkshake Bar is a cute spot with plenty of seating and a fun, upbeat vibe thanks to music playing indoors. They offer an impressive array of flavors which makes choosing quite an event. Unfortunately, the ice cream itself didn't live up to the presentation. The overall quality of the ice cream is meh (not sweet, rich in flavor, not creamy). I sampled the banana pudding and it didn't taste like banana pudding. It's a pleasant place to hang out but the ice cream doesn't stand-out enough to make it a place to visit. Two scoops in a cup cost $8. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Ice cream decadence! It was a national holiday so I avoided any sort of crowd which was a smart play from what I've heard. I understand why since my milkshake was really over the top sugar madness..delicious! Oreo with more cookie and cream and Oreo covered in more stuff; get the picture? It's blue bell ice cream which is available anywhere but the concoctions are thoughtful fun. Bring the family for sure! read more
yummy deliciousness ice cream! this is perfect for a hot day . both flavors were amazing, it was about $7 a cup. i liked the cookie 2 step a bit more. it had actual oreo/ cookie bits. the sea salt caramel had big chunks of caramel in it as well! there were only two staff but they were very nice. nice seating as well! 05.05.2024 read more
Just my honest review of my experience here. The overall experience definitely did not match what I was expecting. First time here but I've been to other kinds of milkshake bars in AZ and LV so I was excited to try this out. I got to try the milk and cookies and their vegan shake. In terms of service, we actually received our shakes in a good amount of time, considering it was pretty busy. The toppings were a big disappointment. On the milk and cookies, the cream filled cookie on top was not very good and the mini cookies surrounding were definitely stale. Cookie on the vegan shake was also stale and hard as a rock. The frosting used to stick the toppings to the glass was actually the best part. Shakes themselves were ok, nothing I'd brag about, and these shakes also seemed smaller than other kinds of milkshakes I've had before. You get to keep the jar, but for the price of these shakes, I'd rather have everything taste amazing and not keep the jar. Plus I only got the jar and not the lid (would of had to pay another .75 cents for that). Overall not anything I'd go back for. read more

Love the ice cream, I got the peanut butter, and the banana pudding ice cream. The service was ok, there were only two employees and it was right after the D-backs game so they were very busy. The ambiance was nice, it had a chalk board for drawing. read more

Ice cream was very enjoyable and creamy! But I did have some trouble with one of the workers I believe her name was Sarah. I asked her if she knew who created the names of the ice cream and she responded in a rude tone with a lack of costumer service. That was the only con about this yummy dessert and my happy night. Not only did I experience this but one of my friends did as well. Though the scenery is nice and it's not even cold in here!! read more

Highly overrated/priced. The donut on the donought touch my coffee was stale. The cookie on the Brooke batter was not fresh/hard or over cooked cookie I give credit to the presentation and all the toppings. I should've probably just did a scoop of ice cream-I think that would've been the better option. You can also request for parking validation read more
This place is really good. I took my son here for his birthday. A few things are drawbacks that led to the 3. But overall I am recommending you go here because I think it was really tasty. So first, I ordered the strawberries and cream cheesecake shake. Now what no one tells you is that unless you get the souvenir jar you won't get all the stuff that's listed. For instance I didn't get the jar so I didn't get a slice of cheesecake. Wasn't really aware, but they should tell you. The shake however was awesome. Second, fairly clean place which I appreciated, third, the parking is rough that in a sense it's at a minimum $5 depending on surrounding events. Finally, the workers here seem kind of miserable. No amount of thank yous or tips increase their mood. They actually look like they hate the customers and job. I'd recommend a manager send in a secret shopper to see what I'm talking about but it's very off putting. Due to the downsides I'd say unless I am already downtown I wouldn't venture out of my way for this place. But it's a good one time experience spot. Great for the kids. Get the jar! read more
Melancholy. Staff was not welcoming. Gave off real Wednesday Addams vibes to the point it was almost comical. Great place to dash into to get out of the heat and have a cold treat. But the menu is really overwhelming with choices. We both went with the smaller version / split between cookie dough and ice cream and it was more than plenty. But it would have been fun to split a bigger mason jar with all the pizzazz. Overall, it served its purposed of a cold treat but left feeling melancholy. read more

Kind of shocked at all these great reviews about this place. Got the strawberry n cream cheesecake sundae for $13. First of all the cheesecake was frozen and hard as a rock, nearly broke my teeth trying to bite into it. The ice cream was very cheap tasting. Whomever wrote the review about the "Wednesday Addams vibe" comment, they were on point !!!!! The girl behind the counter acted like we were disturbing her when she came out from behind the wall to take our order, never even asked us one thing just stood there waiting for us to order... made us feel like we were totally disturbing her from her important phone call in the back. No personality whatsoever. We even tipped her?!!! $35 for two ice creams. I'm never getting that money back. So disappointed... read more
This was an EXPENSIVE milkshake...HOWEVER....TOTALLY WORTH IT!! This was more than a milkshake sundae - It was a work of art. The flavors combined and the majestic presentation!! Have to try them all. Maybe I need a milkshake of the month club???? read more
I'm hoping I'll get the opportunity to go back and update this review after some time because the milkshakes look amazing. However, I arrived about 15 minutes before they closed and was hoping to get a milkshake to go. Upon arrival there was a line wrapping around the dining room. Still I decided to wait in line because I was already there. After standing in line for nearly 20 minutes I got to the front only to find out that they were all out of their vegan options :( why wasn't this posted on the door or something? Esp if it's that popular... Aside from not having vegan options available the service was terrible and it was messy (it was busy though so I'm hoping this was just a one-off). It is very cute and IG worthy inside tho. I'll definitely give it a second chance but I'll be calling ahead next time. read more
The idea is really cool and the place is fresh and bright but this is not a must have. The line is usually crazy long so thankfully that wasn't added to our disappointment. The staff was cordial but the overall experience was disappointing. No tasting and the ice cream wasn't made in house; it's Blue Bell ice cream. So for $17 you get a glass jar with pre made ice cream that is covered with fancy toppings. And yeah, if you want a lid for the jar that's of course extra. I will say the best idea in the place was the sink they offered so you could rise out the jars and not be a sticky mess. read more

This was a cute spot, though I might have visited in an off hour/ day. My shake was liquid, but it tasted amazing. I don't think a runny shake is the norm because other folks seemed to be enjoying theirs with a spoon; a spoon was not an option for me. In their defense, I didn't give them an opportunity to correct their "mistake", they may have happily remade my shake with no questions asked but I Just accepted it, as was. Also, I may have walked in too quietly as staff didn't acknowledge me for a while - I was standing there while the server was on her phone facing away from the door. When she did see me she put her phone away and stepped up to the counter but still didn't greet me. Maybe there is a flow that frequent customers understand that maybe she assumed I was aware of, but I was only visiting the area for work. She didn't explain to me, either, that I could keep my shake glass, I left it there at the shop - a local later informed me that I could have kept the glass as a souvenir. Mind you, it's just a mason jar with their logo, no biggy. But a bummer as I'm sure I paid for a portion of that glass. read more

Great milkshake bar. Parked in the garage and they do certify the parking. If you get the glass milk shakes you can wash it and take it with you. It's not to big but it's nice. Love the cheesecakes on top of the milkshakes. read more
I'll be upfront and honest - this is an Insta-Foodie's daydream. Gorgeous, colorful, over-the-top shakes loaded with sugar and eye-popping color almost too pretty to eat. That's about it, though. I agree with the majority of reviews the milkshakes are more to appease the eyes rather than tastebuds. One shake will run you $16.00 because you get the keep the mason jar. Large portions, but you're paying for it. My husband and I shared the famous Mermaid. And yes, it was beautiful! I found it hard to dig in. Once I did, the whole experience took a nosedive. I didn't think the shake tasted anything like cotton candy. It was like bland sugar? Does that make sense? Sweet but didn't taste like anything good. The whipped cream was too much air, again no taste to it at all. The sprinkles tasted like they came from a dollar store. The little mermaid take candy was just weird, it left a funky pasty sensation in my mouth and teeth I could get rid of. There were little cake bits in the shake that, like everything else, didn't taste like much. I think this is such a cool place but for the steep price I expect a way higher quality product. Don't cheap out on low-end ingredients. Take away the souvenir cup if you must, but for goodness sake let's get some real tastes into these shakes. I doubt they use real ice cream, probably that fake shit that's more air than any actual cream. I left disappointed, not sure I'll be back. read more

After all the hype and amazing pictures on Yelp and on their website we finally decided to give it a try. Unfortunately our experience was a big disappointment. We thought that the ice cream was going to be made in house but it was from blue bell. I had the doughnut ice cream me the donut was from fry's ( I noticed the package in the counter). The doughnut was old and hard. My wife had the cheesecake ice cream and unfortunately the cheesecake was also generic from fry's. $40 for three ice creams made with generic and old ingredients not worth it. read more
The milkshake was amazing! Definitely worth trying at least once! And you get the souvenir jar; they have a washing station to clean it before you leave. However here are some things to keep in mind... there is no AC they have a swamp cooler so it's not the coolest place on a 115 degree day. Be prepared to WAIT; for a table (there is only like 6 tables total and had not been cleaned), in line, and to get your actual order. They had 3 teenagers in there who could care less about being there and did not want to help. Anything we picked off the menu they were missing an ingredient for it and just seemed to be super unorganized and not a very welcoming environment. read more
Came here on a Saturday night, and the place was absolutely packed. And when I mean packed, I mean a line out the door. The seating area was overflowing, and the place was simply losing with energy. Kids anxiously awaiting the creamy treats. And adults having a great time with their children while they waited for absolutely gargantuan, sundaes served in jars. The staff was very courteous, but expeditious. And the ice cream was absolutely wonderful. It is a little pricey but it's also a quality product. And it's not something that you eat every day. I plan to return the next time. I'm in downtown Phoenix. This is definitely going on my shortlist. read more

Wow wow wow. Their vegan milkshake and bowl are INSANEly good! Thank you for having vegan options! Great location, friendly and helpful service! You get to take your milkshake jar home too! Prices a little high but to be expected for downtown Phoenix. read more
Overhyped and overpriced. After tax and tip, a single 16 ounce milkshake runs you $20. Yes you get to keep the glass mason jar and yes the milkshake is topped with many sweets, but it looks better than it tastes. The cheesecake slice and cupcake tasted like they just came out of a prepackaged Safeway container. The whipped cream was not impressive. The milkshake was a milkshake, nothing special. The first time I attempted to try The Yard, it was a Saturday evening. There was a whiteboard sign that read "20 minute wait." However when we arrived at the counter, we were informed the wait was actually "over 1 hour." A) Why in the heck does it take over an hour to make milkshakes? There were plenty of people working behind the counter and no one seemed to be moving with any particular urgency. The place was busy, but not *that* busy. B) When asked why they had not updated their sign from 20 minutes to 1 hour, the girl said, with some ~attitude~ "we've been really busy okay and have not had time." Like girl really, you've been sooo busy that it's too much to erase 20 and write 60...? Ok. Needless to say, I did not stand and wait 1 hour for a milkshake. I returned a second time during daytime and there was no wait. The customer service this time was better, but still not great. Overall, I guess it was nice to go once for the experience and the obligatory Instagram post, but I will not be returning for a second visit. read more

Brookie Batter Sundae, delicious! Rich chocolate and cookie dough ice cream, delicious cookie dough ball and brownie. Only issue was the mass of whipped cream, just too much IMO. The full cookie topping also tasted a bit funky. But overall very good dessert and good service! Got a bit crowded, but atmosphere was pleasant! read more
When I got there all I could think of was the song from Keli "my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard" and baby yes everyone was at the yard It's one trillion degrees outside so ice cream is a natural go to. This spot is so cute and cozy. I would recommend browsing the menu before you get there. I am not going to lie I was definitely overwhelmed upon arrival. I mean how are you supposed to make a decision with over 20 different delicious options. The place was packed and it does get a little warm in there as the store is mainly all windows so the sun is beaming bright. Seating can also be a bit of an issue depending on what time you get there but everyone does a pretty good job of not lounging around after they are done. The staff was very helpful in sharing flavors and best sellers We settled on the peanut butter waffle finger The presentation was great and the flavor did not disappoint read more
I had seen this place online and was so excited to finally go with some friends when I came to visit. The milkshakes are just as they look in the pictures and they are huge. You can definitely share one of these with at least one, if not two, other people. What I ordered was very fun, it had a donut and whip cream on top. The flavor of the ice cream was a great coffee flavor but the texture was a bit runny and not as luxurious as expected. The donut was also a bit dry and not much of it got eaten. The space is very small, it can get quite crowded and noisy. A fun place to go, but keep that in mind. The line can also get long but it moves pretty fast. read more

My friends and I visited three times while we were in town for a conference. A very unique experience with so many awesome milkshake, ice cream, and cookie dough flavors! I will be honest, the prices can definitely add up the more creative your creations get, but it is so worth it, and they really do give you a lot for what you pay for. Over the times I went I tried so many different ice cream flavors and cookie dough! It's a fun little spot for anyone who is looking for something to satisfy their sweet tooth with a fun environment! read more
This place was dead when we came in. Zero customers, I guess I should've taken that as a sign, but everything looked good on the menu. We ordered 2 speciality ice creams and a small cup of strawberry cheesecake. The ice cream was not very good. Maybe it has been sitting in the freezer too long so it lacked flavor. The strawberry cheesecake didn't taste much like strawberry or cheesecake. The no milk specialty ice cream was ok, the cookie was waaayyy too hard so it wasn't edible. This place is too expensive $30 for 3 ice cream treats for it to be mediocre. read more

Meh. We stumbled upon this location while wandering around downtown. The menu looked interesting, so we decided to give it a shot. The line was long, and there weren't any seats initially, but luckily, a table opened eventually. I ordered two scoops: cookies & cream and chocolate chip cookie dough. I didn't care for the cookie dough, but the cookies and cream was okay. My sister had mocha almond fudge and triple chocolate ice cream. She liked the chocolate ice cream better than the almond fudge. Honestly, we weren't that impressed with the ice cream. We both ended up tossing most of it. If we lived in the area, we probably wouldn't return. read more

Showed up about 20 minutes prior to close, and parked in the parking garage a street over which was $5. T he staff were very helpful in helping choose which milkshake to order off the HUGE menu! We decided on getting the Cookie Dough Milkshake, came out to be about $18 before tip which included the Yard mason jar glass. The cookie was super yummy as was the milkshake, VERY sweet and delicious. They also had a sink where you could clean your empty cups to bring home which I thought was super cool! Overall, the vibe here was awesome and the milkshake/cookie dough options were GREAT! The shake was expensive, but I would 100% go again because it was that good. read more

Would give a 3.5 if possible. Not bad but not the best. Great spot if you're looking to eat your food with your eyes. 4 Stars for the adorably adorned ice creams and delicious flavors and quick service. 3 stars for Cheesecake that was a bit hard because it is frozen. Would try a different one in the future in order to be able to eat the topping. Might like it more. If you get the milkshake ($17) instead of the cup you and can keep the mason jar. Not worth if for me, but maybe for a kid or someone who enjoys decorating their mason jars? read more
My milkshake brings all the boys to the Yard! We couldn't wait to come here when we were in Arizona! Long lines get there early! Due to the elaborate nature of their crafts you will wait at least 15 mins , Took my daughter here and the options are endless! This is for the ultimate sweet tooth! Small and clean and cute there's no way you can go wrong with these milkshakes. The portions are huge so prepare to share or there's some grab and go options. They are definitely pricey but you get SO MUCH ice cream! Enjoy! read more

Stumbled upon this place after a baseball game. Menu is phenomenal, wanted to try each shake as they all looked fantastic. Ended up getting the peanut butter brownie shake and it was very satisfying. The staff however were cold and not welcoming whatsoever. After saying "Hello" to the cashier and being completely ignored... I felt super unwelcome and as if I was bothering her. Ordered the shake. She brought it out and didn't say one word to us. Shake was great but staff were a huge let down as working at a dessert place should be fun and lighthearted read more
