Melancholy. Staff was not welcoming. Gave off real Wednesday Addams vibes to the point it was almost comical. Great place to dash into to get out of the heat and have a cold treat. But the menu is really overwhelming with choices. We both went with the smaller version / split between cookie dough and ice cream and it was more than plenty. However, I arrived about 15 minutes before they closed and was hoping to get a milkshake to go. Upon arrival there was a line wrapping around the dining room. Still I decided to wait in line because I was already there. After standing in line for nearly 20 minutes I got to the front only to find out that they were all out of their vegan options :( why wasn't this posted on the door or something? Esp if it's that popular... Aside from not having vegan options available the service was terrible and it was messy (it was busy though so I'm hoping this was just a one-off). The idea is really cool and the place is fresh and bright but this is not a must have. The line is usually crazy long so thankfully that wasn't added to our disappointment. The staff was cordial but the overall experience was disappointing. No tasting and the ice cream wasn't made in house; it's Blue Bell ice cream. So for $17 you get a glass jar with pre made ice cream that is covered with fancy toppings. And yeah, if you want a lid for the jar that's of course extra. I will say the best idea in the place was the sink they offered so you could rise out the jars and not be a sticky mess. read more

This was a cute spot, though I might have visited in an off hour/ day. My shake was liquid, but it tasted amazing. I don't think a runny shake is the norm because other folks seemed to be enjoying theirs with a spoon; a spoon was not an option for me. In their defense, I didn't give them an opportunity to correct their "mistake", they may have happily remade my shake with no questions asked but I Just accepted it, as was. Also, I may have walked in too quietly as staff didn't acknowledge me for a while - I was standing there while the server was on her phone facing away from the door. When she did see me she put her phone away and stepped up to the counter but still didn't greet me. Maybe there is a flow that frequent customers understand that maybe she assumed I was aware of, but I was only visiting the area for work. She didn't explain to me, either, that I could keep my shake glass, I left it there at the shop - a local later informed me that I could have kept the glass as a souvenir. However here are some things to keep in mind... there is no AC they have a swamp cooler so it's not the coolest place on a 115 degree day. Be prepared to WAIT; for a table (there is only like 6 tables total and had not been cleaned), in line, and to get your actual order. They had 3 teenagers in there who could care less about being there and did not want to help. Came here on a Saturday night, and the place was absolutely packed. And when I mean packed, I mean a line out the door. The seating area was overflowing, and the place was simply losing with energy. I can see why people come here- what's not to like, enormous ice cream and instagram-worthy containers and it's tasty. I was in Phoenix staying near Yard Milkshake bar. The first night there was an enormous line so I knew to try later on an off time to be able to have a quieter experience. The Yard Milkshake bar services ice cream, sundaes and cookie dough. I assume they serve milkshakes too based on the name but to be honest, I didn't notice any. The inside has a few tables and if you get the ice cream sundae in the class jar, you're going to want to have a place to sit. I got the strawberry cheesecake in the glass jar ($17) which you get to keep with purchase ( they also have a place for you to clean it out before you leave). The sundae even includes an actual piece of cheesecake on top of it. The sundae was large and jammed packed with ice cream. What I loved- the actual ice cream and the strawberry flavoring. What I didn't love? The cheesecake. The piece of cheesecake was too cold, almost frozen and too difficult to eat with a plastic spoon. Also in the ice cream there were big hunks of cheesecake in it so it became overkill with cheesecake. That too was really hard as well. I liked my order. I didn't love it. I'd go back and try something else. I'd get it in the glass again maybe if I felt like grammin' it up. But if not, I'd go the smaller and more cheaper route. It's definitely a great place to take kids (of all ages) but in a lot of ways it's sort of a gimmick. read more

We ordered 2 speciality ice creams and a small cup of strawberry cheesecake. The ice cream was not very good. Maybe it has been sitting in the freezer too long so it lacked flavor. The strawberry cheesecake didn't taste much like strawberry or cheesecake. The no milk specialty ice cream was ok, the cookie was waaayyy too hard so it wasn't edible. My son and I went in after getting some burgers to go next door. My son wanted a shake from five guys but I was like nah there is this epic milk shake place next door let's try it out. They seemed a bit busy (Monday night) and were staffed by two teenageish boys. They were running around and seemed busy but they were slow as molasses and inattentive. Being my first time I guess I don't know the procedure. I went in the "order here" line and stood in front of the ice cream counter for a few minutes. No one said anything to me. The customer behind me said "are you going to order?" And I was like "um yeah am I doing something wrong? Should I stand somewhere else?" She said no. But now i felt weird so I moved along to the cash register. Stood there for several more minutes... no help. The other customer assured me I was doing nothing wrong. (I was annoyed so I snarkly was like"um then why did you sweat me for!?") My son ordered a $17 shake (old school banana split) and I ordered and $8 shake (coffee and pecan). We were number 26. We sat down and after a few minutes they called number 25. We sat for another ten minutes. No other orders were called. The kids behind the counter didn't seem like they were doing anything. A long line had formed. One of the kids ran out the back and the other one just stood there looking confused. He also disappeared to the back for a few minutes. After 10-15 minutes of this, I wanted to go ask what was up. But no one was around. No other orders had been called. And our food was getting really Cold by this point. So we just left. I will call them and ask for a refund or dispute the charge. This had to be a fluke though. No way they're in business operating like this. So I'm hopeful for my next visit. At these prices, they're gonna need to do much much better. read more

B) When asked why they had not updated their sign from 20 minutes to 1 hour, the girl said, with some ~attitude~ "we've been really busy okay and have not had time." I was so pleased at the professionalism and consideration they paid us! My son is extremely allergic to tree nuts and they did everything to make sure the shake they provided was safe.
