We did not see a single staff member during our stay, but that isn't a complaint by any means. Driving into Monterey or Carmel was only 20 minutes, and it was nice to get away from the Labor Day crowds when we were done for the day. The beds were comfy, there were plenty of blankets, and the bathrooms were always clean. Our ONLY complaint was that we booked this trip around five months ago, and they gave us a luxury tent without an attached parking spot and we had to walk past someone else's camp to leave our campsite. Next time we would request to not stay in 48a, but we didn't know this when booking it. We will be back to stay here again though.

They told Us our Cattle dog was part Pit Bull when we know for a fact she is not! When asked how he was qualified he said he was not an expert. 46 spaces in less that 4 acres. Staff was friendly until they weren't made us feel like we were at Alcatraz! They tell what their insurance covers and does not cover, tells you where to park, how to park etc... oh and said you need to walk across the street to smoke but didn't even asked if I was a smoker! Just assumed I was! said we could stay but our dog could not be on the premises. she has been at several parks and never had one issue ever and she is only 1 1/2 years old! We made these plans 6 months in advance and had no where else to go! Had to come up with a reservation immediately! The only nice thing I could say about the park is it is clean but very very tight! With many years of traveling and the hundreds of parks I have stayed in this was the worst experience we have ever had!! We were in the area for a family celebration and now we are having to park many miles out of our way and drive lots of extra miles everyday! Only wish there were other options in the area!

But, a path led from the bathrooms INTO my spot (#74) so that was really lame. The noise at 9pm was like Bourbon Street, unnecessarily loud people echoing through the canyon, and no campfires were allowed. The only wild turkeys we saw were the bottles on the partiers next to us. We drove 100 minutes back home rather than stay.

I was immediately turned off by the rudeness and didn't feel welcome as she yelled at me and told me she was trying to get me to stop. She told me to go to my site and get set up and come back and was just incredibly cranky and mean about it. Also, it would have been nice to be warned about the MANY skunks that come out at sunset and run around the campground looking for food. We are in nature after all, but even state parks warn you of current wildlife! They were so tame that I don't think they even sprayed but it def was concerning with two dogs in tow. Otherwise, the campsites are gorgeous and it's very peaceful. The free ice, one bundle of firewood, and mugs were incredibly generous and the river swimming areas are unmatched! Bathrooms were small and crowded but mostly clean and nice they had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the women's! But, expect a long line in the morning and for bed for the sinks with the next bathroom quite a ways away. I'd definitely stay here again but suggest the staff try to be a little less cranky and more welcoming! Big Sur is magical and the energy of the workers should match that.

We found parking on the side of the road, about a 2 minute walk to the park so we didn't have to pay the entrance fee. Loop is long but fairly easy to complete - took us a little over 2 hours. Hiking shoes/poles aren't necessary. Some parts of the trail are shaded and some are exposed. The loop has a bunch of viewpoints to check out like Bird Island which was fun to stop by. The views were amazing! It is usually overcast in this area but on the day we went, the skies were mostly clear. Good amount of people but we still had space to walk. Point Lobos is definitely my favorite park in the Carmel area! Very accessible, easy hikes, and stunning views

The park is super close to downtown which was a plus. We had issues with our power as we had to convert from 50 to 30amp, but I think our rig was just too powerful which is not the parks fault. Everything else was great! We were told there is a cool hiking trail and creek but we did not experience that for ourselves. Definitely a cute little spot to stay close to town!

We booked a cabin recently, received confirmation, and showed up after hours. The campground is…read morenice enough and in a great location, but when we showed up at 9 pm our name was posted on a white board telling us where to go. Our assigned cabin was not made up. No sheets blankets or pillows on the bed, musty/dank smell, refrigerator was on the patio for some strange reason, there was a space heater left running in the kitchen sink, random box of dishes in the corner, and we had zero clue what to do. There was nobody to help us, reception was spotty so we couldn't make a call, and ultimately we left. Clearly this cabin should not have been rented. We drove 45 minutes to a hotel and had to pay $600/night because there were no other options nearby. Worst of all, after emailing the manager about what happened and nicely requesting a refund, we got no response. No apology, no acknowledgment, no refund, nothing. We had to contact the credit card company to reverse the charge. Not good. Not well run. Stay away.
