The spots are very close to each other, but this is a small campground, maybe 50 spots. The KOA person guided us into our spot, made it easy because if it was just me and the wife... well you know! Moss landing is an old fishing town, very small, abut very historical and interesting to walk around. The ocean beach is walking distance from the campground. I will return to this place, very safe and very secluded. Nice clean laundry room, landscaping is beautiful, location is in a very secluded area in the farming community. Very tight spots, you are really close to your neighbor. But that's OK, this is a place you stay at, and go out during the day to see the sites around the area. There is no stores or restaurants in the area. Only one deli (which is really good but only open to 3pm). So you will need to have food and supply with you.

The other levels, journey, destination and resort are increasingly fancy, but generally have some kind of market, a cafe or restaurant, pools, jacuzzis and the like - more so at the higher levels. Well, this one was a fraction of the size of most of those. it was very well kept, nice level paved sites, excellent bathrooms - two full bathrooms, where you get your own toilet, sink and shower and door It's essentially located right in the harbor, there's a gate that will get you to the docks. Including all the whale watching boats . A bunch of sea lions were my neighbors on a rock on the other side of the fence. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance as well, so that makes up for not having one on site

The only wild turkeys we saw were the bottles on the partiers next to us. We drove 100 minutes back home rather than stay.

I paid approximately $576 for each campsite and I got two campsites, and I expected a much better experience for that cost. The campground was extremely overcrowded. The campsites were so small and tightly packed together that it felt like one campsite had been divided into two just to fit more guests and increase revenue. There was very little privacy, and the overcrowding took away from the natural beauty of Big Sur. Instead of feeling peaceful, the campground felt congested and, at times, looked unkempt because there were simply too many people in such a limited space. Another major concern was the cleanliness of the restrooms. Throughout our stay, the bathrooms frequently had toilet paper on the floors and were not maintained to the standard I would expect, especially considering the premium price of the campground. The amenities also did not meet expectations. The campground advertises complimentary firewood and ice, which sounds like a great benefit. However, guests are limited to one bundle of firewood and one bag of ice per day. While this may be enough for some campers, the advertising makes it seem more generous than it actually is. Big Sur is one of the most beautiful places in California, and I was excited to stay here. Unfortunately, the overcrowding, lack of cleanliness, and high price made the experience feel like poor value. I don't mind paying premium prices for a premium experience, but this campground did not deliver one. Sadly, I don't think I would choose to stay here again, and I hope management will consider reducing overcrowding, improving restroom maintenance, and being more transparent about what is included with the campsite.

The curly haired girl with glasses at the check-in area seemed just frustrated and annoyed by us as we pulled in and tried to get out of the way of others checking in. I guess they tried to tell us to wait but it was busy and I didn't hear and wanted to make sure I wasn't blocking others, so I pulled in and parked a bit. I was immediately turned off by the rudeness and didn't feel welcome as she yelled at me and told me she was trying to get me to stop. She told me to go to my site and get set up and come back and was just incredibly cranky and mean about it. Also, it would have been nice to be warned about the MANY skunks that come out at sunset and run around the campground looking for food. We are in nature after all, but even state parks warn you of current wildlife! They were so tame that I don't think they even sprayed but it def was concerning with two dogs in tow. Otherwise, the campsites are gorgeous and it's very peaceful. The free ice, one bundle of firewood, and mugs were incredibly generous and the river swimming areas are unmatched! Bathrooms were small and crowded but mostly clean and nice they had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the women's! But, expect a long line in the morning and for bed for the sinks with the next bathroom quite a ways away. I'd definitely stay here again but suggest the staff try to be a little less cranky and more welcoming! Big Sur is magical and the energy of the workers should match that.

The natural landscape is just phenomenal. God's fingerprints all over this place. Pros: - not a bad drive down here from the touristy parts of Monterey and Seaside where we usually reside for the weekend - a bit windy, but a truly lovely and incredibly scenic twisty, turn-y road that keeps me on my toes - once you're here it's just breathtaking. - trail walk/stroll is pretty easy, nothing real rigorous as long as you're still in decent health. - more challenging "hikes" available for those who are looking for more, I've not stepped up to that (huffing and puffing doesn't sound fun), so I'm not sure where those trails are, but easy to find online. - so much fauna and flora to look at. - the coast here is just so rugged and ridiculously jawpdropping. - kids love this place too. There's a ranger station/little nature stop/house of sorts, not quite a "museum", but it's got the history, the nature, the strange facts you'd not otherwise know about unless you stopped by. - very kind and dedicated volunteers that will tell you all you want to know about Point Lobos - the nature, the creatures of sky, sea, and land, the past, present and future, whatever you want. - Plus they often have binoculars they will let you use to look out at the coast for seals and sealions and otters and more galore, oh my! Cons: - parking is the suck here. It's not too expensive to get in, but most people seem to park along the main road/highway that leads to Point Lobos which is kind of dangerous and a good trek to get to the State Reserve, so you've got your exercise before you even start exploring. That could be a plus? All in all, a magnificent and marvelous natural state reserve, well preserved, more than maintained, must see to appreciate.

Everyone was very friendly. Not many amenities, but we had our full hook-ups and use of the bathroom facilities which is really all we needed as we were out most of the time. The park is super close to downtown which was a plus. We had issues with our power as we had to convert from 50 to 30amp, but I think our rig was just too powerful which is not the parks fault. Everything else was great! We were told there is a cool hiking trail and creek but we did not experience that for ourselves. Definitely a cute little spot to stay close to town!
