I reviewed The Wolf a number of years ago and gave them three stars and that was appropriate for that visit. Over the years, my opinion changed! We love this restaurant and come here somewhat often for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The decor is eclectic, fun, and interesting. There's usually good music playing in the background. There are a number of tables inside, as well as patio seating. The whole vibe is relaxed, with a community feel. Orders are placed at a counter and food is delivered to your table. Employees are friendly and laid back. It can take a little time to get your food, so get something to drink and relax while you wait. The food is delicious! I've never had anything there that I didn't care for. Some of my favorites are the French toast for breakfast and the sweet n salty grilled cheese for lunch or dinner. There are vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. The Wolf has a taproom and cocktail lounge in the same building. We haven't been yet, but we hope to remedy that soon! read more

Stopped in for lunch and it was not that great first you have to wait in a long line to order which didn't make sense since they were bringing out all the stuff might as well have waiters come up and take your order just made it a little more difficult with it being a lot of seating areas and long lines. The service wasn't all that the lady who took my order seemed to be in a rush and wasn't that friendly. Also my drink was ready and I was in the restroom and the guys must of been looking for me then I said the drink was mine he rudely set it on the table for me to pick it back up which was ignorant. The decor was off seemed like your walking into a teenage kids room with all the dark theme wasn't my type of style just felt like stuff was put up to cover up the walls it was a bit much, looked like a bar theme in the back park in the bigger dining area. The food was really basic no flavor the coffee was good but nothing amazing. The salad was also very basic definitely not your authentic med salad very dry. Pretty disappointing! read more

I came here with my friend who is an expert on all things ADA accessibility, and it passed the test! The bathrooms were up to par as well as inside & outside seating. The food was delicious & creative - lots of options for daytime and night time. Only issue was we got there right at the change between breakfast and lunch. The girl at the counter told us we could still get breakfast, but apparently we the kitchen had already put it all away, so we were a bit disappointed we couldn't get the breakfast option we chose- maybe next time. We had a great time chatting on the patio- relaxing, laid-back atmosphere! read more

I love the food at The Wolf. It's healthy, wholesome, and delicious. The service is always tops with me. They are very friendly and helpful in answering questions. The ambiance is a casual outdoors adventure style with pictures and artwork honoring nature and fun. Their breakfast bowls are outstanding and the cookies and desserts even better! I also love their avocado toast with an egg on top. Yumminess!! read more

Been here several times and really enjoy the atmosphere and quality of food. However, I always leave a little hungry as their portions are very small. Also had to ignore the sign on their door that says no outside food under any circumstances. Four adults in our party were eating, but my small children have food intolerances and a packed lunch, so I realize they're trying to deter squatters but for parents and those with allergies/intolerances that's a daunting mandate. I'd leave and not come back if it was challenged, but fortunately it was not. read more

My family of 7 were visiting St. Louis on a three day trip. We decide each trip to go out and try new local food spots for lunch and dinners. We were turned onto this place from our local friends for having great craft, beer and wine, selections, paired with wonderful sandwiches, and boy did they deliver! My wife and I decided to go halfsies on the grilled cheese and wished we had each gotten one. I sat at the bar drinking one of my favorite local breweries while I ordered the takeout. The atmosphere is unique and very diverse in that they have a bar, a good order area, a wine seating area, and a music venue all under one roof. For those that use Untappd like I do to search out good beer, be forewarned that they do not update as frequently as they should. I went here for a rare BA stout pour and they had changed the tap handle a week ago... this combined with a few other small things like presentation, service promptness, and seating get them the 4 star rather than 5. I will definitely be coming back to see how they evolve their business in the coming years! read more

This is a nice and comfortable indoor and outdoor areas to eat and drink during Covid. The entrance was changed from a drive-up to release passengers to a blocked off area to sit and eat. On this beautiful weather day this was great to experience. Another actual patio area was in the sun. The indoor areas have live bands later on Saturday nights. The have customers order at a stand and then get food carried out by servers to wherever you take the sign. Avocado Salad with lemon pepper tofu was my kidney friendly choice. Tasted good, but prefer Avocados solid versus mashed... Picky right. I hungrily ate half before thinking of taking a photo. Unsweet tea and a coffee both tasted good. . Overall, I am glad my friend invited to this restaurant. read more

We came in the afternoon for a drink and an appetizer. It was surprisingly busy, but plenty of open tables. The atmosphere was very calm and relaxing, and the food delivery person was very friendly. It is a walk up to order, however we grabbed menus and sat to look through it. Then got in line to order. The food was fresh and delicious. The chai was not my cup of tea . It had too much cinnamon. The butterfinger dessert bar was to die for!! It was pricey, however it was fresh and local. read more

Had a nice lunch here today with a friend. My vegan chickpea sandwich was $12.95 plus tax. Have free lemon water and a decent amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. Have both healthy and not so healthy (although the balsamic gouta chips were worth it) options and lots of drink options (tea, kombucha, beer, fresh squeezed juice). The side salad vinaigrette was very very good and perfectly dressed on my salad. Overall, would recommend this place to have a long lunch with a friend :) read more

My favorite kind of lunch cafe. Delicious, healthy, fun vibe. Counter service with nice people. Outdoor or indoor dining.

The Wolf Cafe is a hidden gem located in Ellisville/Ballwin area. My wife and I always come here for their Salted Caramel Latte or their Honey Bee Cortado. When we do eat here we get the Salmon BLT or any one of their breakfast items. For the price, you definitely get a good sized portion on any of the food items! The inside is packed with different visuals and art that should appease a first time visitor. Service is always fantastic when we go. Now that they have opened their Taproom we will be frequent visitors since we live close! read more

Honestly the food is very plain tasting to me. Even the beef had no flavor. They do a wonderful job of keeping sustainable with composting and trash reduction. Also offer healthy selections. I'm gonna say try it yourself... it might be your thing. read more

Good burgers and food. Nice location. Good playlist of music and nice outdoor seating too. The downside is the customer does all the work. You wait in line for drinks ( don't order the Cabernet-- old) the red blend was better. I like the food but wished for a server personally but I understand it's tough to get the work force to train for greater responsibility in the future. Try it! Good food! read more

The decor here makes it almost impossible to enjoy yourself. It's gothic and random and drab. A teenager's bedroom in other words. Service is usually friendly. Food is good but pricey ($$$$). Specialty coffee is decent. The drip coffee is what you can get anywhere else. The tea is a tea bag in hot water. read more

We dined at The Wolf Cafe for the first time this week and it was a great experience. It was a rainy evening so we went with the grilled cheese and tomato with roasted red peppers soup, all three of us felt that the meal totally hit the spot and both items were delicious and fresh. I also loved the music (Led Zeppelin was playing when we arrived, always a big plus) and decor, this place is decorated with positive and fun items throughout... including upside down umbrellas in the area where we dined. The staff were attentive and delivered great service. We will definitely eat here again in the future and cheers to the staff who took care of us! read more

First time at the Wolf, I have been so excited to try this place!! And I cannot wait to come back! You order at the counter and they bring you your food to your table. The vibe is so fun, very welcoming employees and environment overall. I didn't know the county had a place like this, I would expect something like this cafe in the grove or CWE! Food & Drink: got the Lemon Ricotta pancakes with blackberry syrup (a special!) and honey bee cortado.. delicious!! My friend got the dirty chai and I had a sip, I loved it. They use oat milk for all of their drinks, very hip and we appreciated the dairy free :) they have the option to add CBD / Cacao to your drinks as well! I can't wait to come back for lunch & to try other breakfast goodies! read more

Their Vietnamese Coffee is a must try! Definitely going back there for some more soon. The ambience in the place is great if you're just trying to chill and relax and unwind. Has many food and dessert options as far as vegan food also. Would be a great place to get some work done also, but be aware that they do not have public wifi. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars. read more

Food is ALWAYS delicious! Fresh ingredients with amazing taste! I had the Breakfast Bowl consisting of three eggs scrambled, organic spinach, salsa, avocado, cheddar, and nitrate-free bacon. Sounds basic but the in house prepared salsa made the dish! My daughter had the Breakfast Club, her usual, which was two eggs over hard, bacon, spinach, tomato, smashed avocado, and mayo on multi-grain toast. Never disappoints! Only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 was when I asked for a to go cup for my coffee and for her to top it off, she seemed offended I wasn't paying for another cup. We are talking about maybe 6 ozs of regular coffee, nothing special. With the price of dining out, that little interaction hit wrong! read more

Cute cafe, I didn't think the food was very good though. Might be more of a "vibes" place.

Was there for the Bling Holiday Popup. The ambience was very nice. The band sang beautifully. Food was good (there was a special menu for event) and drinks were good and strong. I gave it a 4 bc I ordered Xtra "Nog" to go with my Nog inspired cocktail and the waitress kept saying she was going to bring it, but never did. Other than that, no other issues. Will definitely be back! read more

I can't believe I'm just now giving The Wolf five stars. I am so, so, so in love with this place and have been spending a lot of time here over the past few years. There aren't a lot of choices if you're looking for good coffee and great food in Ballwin. The Wolf delivers in every single area possible. Let me explain. When it comes to coffee, theirs is great, and whether you're having drip coffee or a fancy drink, you're going to love it. Bottom line, you will be happily caffeinated here. Second, the staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and I've never encountered anyone who seems anything less than thrilled to be there. They're helpful with menu questions, and are always working hard clearing dishes off tables and keeping the place looking great. Most importantly, in my opinion, is the food. I know that no matter what time I stop by The Wolf, I can eat something that's not only mind-blowing good, but healthy as well; and that can be hard to accomplish. For breakfast, I love the veggie skillet (and I also add avocado!) It's filling, fresh, and is the perfect start to the day. For lunch, I am a sucker for the veggie sandwich (SO fresh! So many vegetables!) and I also love the BLT&E. Why have I not been putting eggs on my BLTs? On my last visit, I thanked the owner in person for the pride flag that's proudly flying outside. It's such a welcome sight when you pull into the parking lot. The Wolf is a gem and we are all very lucky to have it. read more

Amazing place with fresh local food and live music! The chicken sandwich was out of this world. Fresh juicy chicken with bacon and bleu cheese and all kinds of great toppings. The giant slices of heirloom tomatos was a great touch. The side mixed greens were very fresh and the honey vinaigrette was delicious. My wife got the Longhorn burger and it all tasted great but she asked for medium rare and it came out pretty much well done. It could have used some more sauce too. Their home made granola bar was awesome. Lots of wholesome ingredients and pretty sweet but not over the top. Soft and crunchy at the same time. The chia seed bar with jelly, seeds, and nuts wasnt my favorite. The base was kind of like a dry shortbread and the jelly was a little fake sugar tasting. The peanut butter cookie wasnt my favorite either. Light and fluffy with a rich peanut butter flavor but a but too flakey for me and too sweet. I'd prefer more rich than sugary. My wife really liked it though. The chocolate chip cookie was strange and not something I like. It was more like a buttermilk biscuit with sugar and chips added. Very crumbly and hard to eat. The band Perron Hill on sat evening was great! 2 piece harmonious bluegrass acoustic band. Great vocals and entertaining. read more

Came here with a colleague for lunch seeking salads. Decor was quite unique and the vibe was laid back and friendly. Upon coming in we were immediately told there was a 20 -25 minute wait for food which we had no issue with ( food came in 10). We ordered salads which tasted ok but to be honest, the chicken was about half the size of a normal portion of any typical salad? I was a bit disappointed as a whole as we expected stellar salads based on the previous reviews . Not a bad place but I would order something else if I returned as there are far better salads around town. read more

I am a longtime customer of The Wolf Cafe, but today I was very disappointed in the both the food and service. First, there was a short hair in my bowl. My hair is long and I am 100% positive that it did not belong to me. Second, there were 20-25 yellow and spotted arugula leaves in my Spring Salad. I told one of the servers, and she spoke with a manager. They did the right thing and reimbursed the cost of my salad (not the entire meal) with a gift certificate. When my meal was brought, the server did not remove the menu or the table number ID. While this would be standard at The Wolf and other restaurants, not today. It would also be nice if the Manager came to my table and personally apologized. After all this, an additional server came to my table as said, "Oh, you didn't like the arugula?" That added insult to injury and was not necessary. read more

Been coming here for breakfast and coffee for couple years, but still need to stop in for HH given the selection of craft taps they have, plus regular weekend entertainment events. Bob the owner is a super guy, and the staff always provides kind service with a smile! If you like a fast casual fresh eatery that has a nice farm to table menu, relaxed atmosphere, you need to stop in at the Wolf. Lots to try for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Since I'm a morning guest, many great options like steel cut oats, house made granola, fresh bakery muffins/scones to gourmet breakfast bowls, sweet potato hash, slinger bowl (good for morning after a drink night), skillet breakfast combos, prairie raised eggs etc. Have never been disappointed, but personally I'm a big fan of their breakfast club with eggs, bacon, spinach, avocado, tomato with mayo on multi grain toast. Feels like a healthy start to the day and is tasty and filling! I've found this place a great spot for casual biz meetings or visit with friends. Check out the Wolf, anENJOY!! read more

Great cafe, nice salads and drink. They have an outdoor patio that is perfect in nice weather.

Here's the deal- I'm from out of town picking up my mother from surgery and I wanted a healthy fix as I hadn't eaten in 16 hours. Of all places, the hospital recommended chick fil a, to which I was determined to find a healthier and dare I say more ethical option. I'm glad I kept scrolling down on yelp and found this. You have a lifetime customer outta me. 10/10 avocado toast and it was packed to go perfectly. Even used eco friendly to-go containers. They also took sanitation during Covid more seriously than any establishment I have seen outside the hospital. Everyone maintained social distance. I have found my people.
