My family of 7 were visiting St. Louis on a three day trip. We decide each trip to go out and try new local food spots for lunch and dinners. We were turned onto this place from our local friends for having great craft, beer and wine, selections, paired with wonderful sandwiches, and boy did they deliver! My wife and I decided to go halfsies on the grilled cheese and wished we had each gotten one. I sat at the bar drinking one of my favorite local breweries while I ordered the takeout. The atmosphere is unique and very diverse in that they have a bar, a good order area, a wine seating area, and a music venue all under one roof. For those that use Untappd like I do to search out good beer, be forewarned that they do not update as frequently as they should. I went here for a rare BA stout pour and they had changed the tap handle a week ago... this combined with a few other small things like presentation, service promptness, and seating get them the 4 star rather than 5. Cute cafe, I didn't think the food was very good though. Might be more of a "vibes" place.

We came in the afternoon for a drink and an appetizer. It was surprisingly busy, but plenty of open tables. The atmosphere was very calm and relaxing, and the food delivery person was very friendly. It is a walk up to order, however we grabbed menus and sat to look through it. Then got in line to order. The food was fresh and delicious. The chai was not my cup of tea . It had too much cinnamon. Had a nice lunch here today with a friend. My vegan chickpea sandwich was $12.95 plus tax. Have free lemon water and a decent amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. Have both healthy and not so healthy (although the balsamic gouta chips were worth it) options and lots of drink options (tea, kombucha, beer, fresh squeezed juice). The side salad vinaigrette was very very good and perfectly dressed on my salad. Overall, would recommend this place to have a long lunch with a friend :) read more

This is a nice and comfortable indoor and outdoor areas to eat and drink during Covid. The entrance was changed from a drive-up to release passengers to a blocked off area to sit and eat. On this beautiful weather day this was great to experience. Another actual patio area was in the sun. The indoor areas have live bands later on Saturday nights. The have customers order at a stand and then get food carried out by servers to wherever you take the sign. Avocado Salad with lemon pepper tofu was my kidney friendly choice. Tasted good, but prefer Avocados solid versus mashed... Picky right. I hungrily ate half before thinking of taking a photo. Unsweet tea and a coffee both tasted good. . We dined at The Wolf Cafe for the first time this week and it was a great experience. It was a rainy evening so we went with the grilled cheese and tomato with roasted red peppers soup, all three of us felt that the meal totally hit the spot and both items were delicious and fresh. I also loved the music (Led Zeppelin was playing when we arrived, always a big plus) and decor, this place is decorated with positive and fun items throughout... including upside down umbrellas in the area where we dined. Food is ALWAYS delicious! Fresh ingredients with amazing taste! I had the Breakfast Bowl consisting of three eggs scrambled, organic spinach, salsa, avocado, cheddar, and nitrate-free bacon. Sounds basic but the in house prepared salsa made the dish! My daughter had the Breakfast Club, her usual, which was two eggs over hard, bacon, spinach, tomato, smashed avocado, and mayo on multi-grain toast. Never disappoints! Only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 was when I asked for a to go cup for my coffee and for her to top it off, she seemed offended I wasn't paying for another cup. I can't believe I'm just now giving The Wolf five stars. I am so, so, so in love with this place and have been spending a lot of time here over the past few years. There aren't a lot of choices if you're looking for good coffee and great food in Ballwin. The Wolf delivers in every single area possible. Let me explain. When it comes to coffee, theirs is great, and whether you're having drip coffee or a fancy drink, you're going to love it. Bottom line, you will be happily caffeinated here. Second, the staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and I've never encountered anyone who seems anything less than thrilled to be there. They're helpful with menu questions, and are always working hard clearing dishes off tables and keeping the place looking great. Most importantly, in my opinion, is the food. I know that no matter what time I stop by The Wolf, I can eat something that's not only mind-blowing good, but healthy as well; and that can be hard to accomplish. For breakfast, I love the veggie skillet (and I also add avocado!) It's filling, fresh, and is the perfect start to the day. For lunch, I am a sucker for the veggie sandwich (SO fresh! So many vegetables!) and I also love the BLT&E. Why have I not been putting eggs on my BLTs? On my last visit, I thanked the owner in person for the pride flag that's proudly flying outside. Amazing place with fresh local food and live music! The chicken sandwich was out of this world. Fresh juicy chicken with bacon and bleu cheese and all kinds of great toppings. The giant slices of heirloom tomatos was a great touch. The side mixed greens were very fresh and the honey vinaigrette was delicious. My wife got the Longhorn burger and it all tasted great but she asked for medium rare and it came out pretty much well done. It could have used some more sauce too. Their home made granola bar was awesome. Lots of wholesome ingredients and pretty sweet but not over the top. Soft and crunchy at the same time. The chia seed bar with jelly, seeds, and nuts wasnt my favorite. The base was kind of like a dry shortbread and the jelly was a little fake sugar tasting. The peanut butter cookie wasnt my favorite either. Light and fluffy with a rich peanut butter flavor but a but too flakey for me and too sweet. I'd prefer more rich than sugary. My wife really liked it though. The chocolate chip cookie was strange and not something I like. It was more like a buttermilk biscuit with sugar and chips added. Very crumbly and hard to eat. Upon coming in we were immediately told there was a 20 -25 minute wait for food which we had no issue with ( food came in 10). We ordered salads which tasted ok but to be honest, the chicken was about half the size of a normal portion of any typical salad? I was a bit disappointed as a whole as we expected stellar salads based on the previous reviews . I am a longtime customer of The Wolf Cafe, but today I was very disappointed in the both the food and service. First, there was a short hair in my bowl. My hair is long and I am 100% positive that it did not belong to me. Second, there were 20-25 yellow and spotted arugula leaves in my Spring Salad. I told one of the servers, and she spoke with a manager. They did the right thing and reimbursed the cost of my salad (not the entire meal) with a gift certificate. When my meal was brought, the server did not remove the menu or the table number ID. While this would be standard at The Wolf and other restaurants, not today. It would also be nice if the Manager came to my table and personally apologized. After all this, an additional server came to my table as said, "Oh, you didn't like the arugula?" I've been going to The Wolf for years and have always found this restaurant to be so accommodating! Wonderful vegan options as well as gluten free if you're looking for a specific diet type.
