There is a downstairs area (with bar), upstairs area and outdoor seating for when the weather is nicer. We completely lucked out and got the private room upstairs even though we didn't book it specifically. I loved the location being in the historic district, and they did an amazing job with restoring the mill into a cute restaurant. I had scoped everything out ahead of time so had adjusted my expectations for smaller portions and ordered accordingly. Unfortunately they don't have their cocktail menu online and I can't recall the name of what I ordered but it was very good. Everyone in our party was happy with their drinks. For food, we started with the monkey bread (10/10) - outstanding! The Caesar salad was also tasty. I got the mussels, which had really nice flavor and the sausage was a welcome addition - I just wish it had come with an extra toast or 2 for the broth. The smoked sturgeon was interesting - marinated and smoked for hours - you don't find that many places so I had to try, and really enjoyed it but wow the cornbread almost stole the show in that dish. Nobody cared for the pickled vegetables. Burger was a winner and really big actually. Dessert we got an assortment and the fan favorite was the creme brulee. They came and cleared dishes between courses, kept water glasses full, etc. and service was overall pretty top notch. Bill was pricey but it was a special occasion and I would definitely return for another.

We got lucky that they were able to seat us after a short wait. We were planning on taking seats at the bar (first come). If you want a table, you may want to make reservations. The restaurant is a house, lovely without being pretentious. With low lighting and low nose level, it would be perfect for a date. It has a New England feel, which makes sense as an oyster house, though they offer oysters from both coasts. The service was fantastic, particularly from our server Christina. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and had great timing, not an easy combination. My friend and I split the oyster roll and the fish special. The roll is a small plate, and it is very much appetizer sized, not meal. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will note that they are pricy, I thought the cocktail prices were high for outside of the city. But otherwise a wonderful experience.

I found this place online and finally got a chance to come in here today to check the place out…read more The positives: Small store with a great selection. I'm not the most educated wine person, but there seemed to be a little bit of everything here. Great location and easy to find. They also have wine tastings here as well, and if you check in, you get 50% off. Guy seemed knowledgeable and passionate about the business. I love that I'm dealing with someone who KNOWS what their selling, and can educate me during the process. I was offered a free sample of wine, which I passed on, but definitely a positive! The negatives: Prices are a bit steep, and even though I'm sure it's quality stuff. $50 a bottle is a bit much for me. Sometimes I want a $9.99 bottle because sometimes it's just a matter of picking up a bottle to take to a party or serve at my house with dinner. They have a cute bar, but the seating is limited. I wanted to sit down and drink after I walked around, but a birthday party walked in and the one chair was in the middle of the party. Not the Wine stores fault, but a bigger bar would have been good. I don't think they serve food. I don't require a full meal, but snacks with wine seems to help hold the stomach, and absorb the wine when doing a tasting. I didn't ask, but I'm pretty sure they don't serve food. I want more wine knick knacks! Hardly any merchandise for sale! Overall a great place. I would love to return for a tasting and learn about wine again.

A nice moderate size wine shop located on Telegraph Rd in Bloomfield township. This store…read moreemphasizes mostly red wines ranging from moderate cost value wines to expensive limited production highly rated boutique reds. Many of the wines in this store are from small little known vineyards where the owner has developed a relationship with the vitner over the years and has arranged small allotments to his store that you will not find anywhere else in the area. The owner is also extremely knowledgeable on the wine industry in general, the various vineyards, many of the wine makers and the grape sources for the wines he carries which is the main driver in all good/great wines. It was a real pleasure and education discussing his wines with him and what his store has to offer which includes weekly wine tastings on Saturdays, quarterly wine clubs and upscale gourmet dinners with wine pairings. Quite a lot going on this one store. If you're in this area and your interest is full bodied reds, than this is a business you should definitely visit and spend some time talking to the owner who is readily available.

I reviewed the menu before arriving and was a little concerned about the prices but it was worth every dollar. The only thing I would do different is arrive early and appreciate the structure and atmosphere. Really cool place. Really cool vibe. The only advice I would offer is the chairs. Metal with no cushion, not the most comfortable, but I will let that slide.

Waze was instrumental in finding this hidden gem as it's tucked behind a fairly blah stretch of Orchard Lake Road. Turn down what is basically a residential street and Sylvan Table appears like a rustic Phoenix! TS saw my eyes light up as I soaked it all in. The owners have moved an antique Maine barn to Sylvan Lake Michigan and created a beautiful (if a bit barren and cold in December) oasis. The inside is as inviting as the outside with a beautiful space buzzing with activity on a cold December night. A Roaring fireplace and beautiful Christmas decor set the stage for a wonderful evening. We were seated upstairs at a nice corner table and the super friendly server was there in a flash to take our drink order. I had my usual, Grey Goose Martini on the rocks with bco's, TS opted for a house Pinot Grigio. Both hit the spot taking the chill off and were delicious. Our server went over some specials, and the menu had a varied selection of great sounding entrees. We started with a charcuterie board with their own house made crackers, cheeses and meats including a decadent pate'. And as an added bonus we were brought a few roasted brussel sprouts with cranberry chutney, fantastic! For our main course TS opted for the pork chop with root vegetables and I had the roasted chicken with the same sides. Both were delicious and juicy being cooked over a wood fire! Now Sylvan Table is a farm to table restaurant which could be daunting on a long cold Michigan winter. And part of the farm must be on their 5 acres. I bet those root vegetables were picked and stored on site for use all winter just like an old timey farm. Ee ate like we hadca tip on a famine and washed it down with a big bold red. But there was still room for more. For dessert we split a slice of Buche Noel and some coffee. The dessert was a work of art. As we made our way out we realized we were the last ones there. So after a picture in front of the Christmas tree we were gone. All in a magical experience with food, service and ambiance that can't be beat. And the company, well that goes without saying! So try out ST before everyone finds out about it! Sylvan by name..sylvan by nature. Sylvan Table...Go!

Our server was so kind and helpful with my husband's odd allergy. They made sure he knew exactly what he was eating. Our soup and salad were very delicious, but very small portions. We both had the kids grilled cheese and then shared a browned butter chocolate chip cookie. The setting is cute and a little quirky. It's not very close to home, so I don't think I'll be back. It was a lovely experience and the food was for the most part very delicious. Service was friendly and good but a tad on the slow side (not our server's fault, they seemed pretty busy and I think she may have been the only waitress working, so she was absolutely juggling a ton). They were out of the "pretty potatoes" which was disappointing because they sounded super delicious. The restaurant is a little dark and when very busy can get a little loud. The three women at the table next to us were having a very loud conversation (of which I picked up every word) and I could barely hear my fiancé, which I didn't love, so the acoustics are a bit odd. That being said, the decor and vibe is very home-y and everyone that works there was very pleasant and lovely, from the hostess to the man that refilled our waters. We got the charcuterie plate (selected two cheeses and two meats; comes accompanied by fig jam, mustard, sardinian crackers, and cornichons), the caesar salad, the short rib, the arctic char, and the olive oil cake for dessert. All of the food was really exceptional and delicious except I found the short rib to be a tad dry. We each ordered a cocktail, I got a spritzer and my fiancé got a seasonal Pimm's cup-type cocktail that used house-made cranberry syrup. They can accommodate gluten free diets easily which is also a plus. Overall, we will absolutely be coming back!I want to try that Wagyu Pastrami Reuben!
