There is a downstairs area (with bar), upstairs area and outdoor seating for when the weather is nicer. We completely lucked out and got the private room upstairs even though we didn't book it specifically. I loved the location being in the historic district, and they did an amazing job with restoring the mill into a cute restaurant. I had scoped everything out ahead of time so had adjusted my expectations for smaller portions and ordered accordingly. Unfortunately they don't have their cocktail menu online and I can't recall the name of what I ordered but it was very good. Everyone in our party was happy with their drinks. For food, we started with the monkey bread (10/10) - outstanding! The Caesar salad was also tasty. I got the mussels, which had really nice flavor and the sausage was a welcome addition - I just wish it had come with an extra toast or 2 for the broth. The smoked sturgeon was interesting - marinated and smoked for hours - you don't find that many places so I had to try, and really enjoyed it but wow the cornbread almost stole the show in that dish. Nobody cared for the pickled vegetables. Burger was a winner and really big actually. Dessert we got an assortment and the fan favorite was the creme brulee. They came and cleared dishes between courses, kept water glasses full, etc. and service was overall pretty top notch. Bill was pricey but it was a special occasion and I would definitely return for another.

We got lucky that they were able to seat us after a short wait. We were planning on taking seats at the bar (first come). If you want a table, you may want to make reservations. The restaurant is a house, lovely without being pretentious. With low lighting and low nose level, it would be perfect for a date. It has a New England feel, which makes sense as an oyster house, though they offer oysters from both coasts. The service was fantastic, particularly from our server Christina. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and had great timing, not an easy combination. My friend and I split the oyster roll and the fish special. The roll is a small plate, and it is very much appetizer sized, not meal. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will note that they are pricy, I thought the cocktail prices were high for outside of the city. But otherwise a wonderful experience.

Everything tasted super fresh and the menu leans more "snacky" in the best possible way -- perfect little plates that are clearly meant to pair with wine. We ordered a few things for the table and it felt like the kind of place where you just keep ordering one more thing because everything sounds good. Nothing heavy, just really well done bites that let the wine shine. Speaking of wine, the selection is awesome. It's not the usual predictable restaurant list. There are some really interesting bottles and styles on there, which makes it fun if you actually enjoy trying different wines instead of just defaulting to the same thing every time. Service was great too. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming, and you can tell the owners are really hands-on and working hard to make the place special. That always makes a difference. And the ambiance... chef's kiss. Moody lighting, cozy, stylish but not pretentious. Just good vibes all around. It's the kind of spot you want to linger at with friends and a second bottle of wine. Already planning my next visit :)

I reviewed the menu before arriving and was a little concerned about the prices but it was worth every dollar. The only thing I would do different is arrive early and appreciate the structure and atmosphere. Really cool place. Really cool vibe. The only advice I would offer is the chairs. Metal with no cushion, not the most comfortable, but I will let that slide.

Waze was instrumental in finding this hidden gem as it's tucked behind a fairly blah stretch of Orchard Lake Road. Turn down what is basically a residential street and Sylvan Table appears like a rustic Phoenix! TS saw my eyes light up as I soaked it all in. The owners have moved an antique Maine barn to Sylvan Lake Michigan and created a beautiful (if a bit barren and cold in December) oasis. The inside is as inviting as the outside with a beautiful space buzzing with activity on a cold December night. A Roaring fireplace and beautiful Christmas decor set the stage for a wonderful evening. We were seated upstairs at a nice corner table and the super friendly server was there in a flash to take our drink order. I had my usual, Grey Goose Martini on the rocks with bco's, TS opted for a house Pinot Grigio. Both hit the spot taking the chill off and were delicious. Our server went over some specials, and the menu had a varied selection of great sounding entrees. We started with a charcuterie board with their own house made crackers, cheeses and meats including a decadent pate'. And as an added bonus we were brought a few roasted brussel sprouts with cranberry chutney, fantastic! For our main course TS opted for the pork chop with root vegetables and I had the roasted chicken with the same sides. Both were delicious and juicy being cooked over a wood fire! Now Sylvan Table is a farm to table restaurant which could be daunting on a long cold Michigan winter. And part of the farm must be on their 5 acres. I bet those root vegetables were picked and stored on site for use all winter just like an old timey farm. Ee ate like we hadca tip on a famine and washed it down with a big bold red. But there was still room for more. For dessert we split a slice of Buche Noel and some coffee. The dessert was a work of art. As we made our way out we realized we were the last ones there. So after a picture in front of the Christmas tree we were gone. All in a magical experience with food, service and ambiance that can't be beat. And the company, well that goes without saying! So try out ST before everyone finds out about it! Sylvan by name..sylvan by nature. Sylvan Table...Go!

The only thing that would make this place any better is if they had a liquor license! We came in and seated ourselves; we were greeted warmly right away by our server. The decor is cute and modern with bright colors and has a good vibe. The menu is really interesting - there are a lot of good items on it and it was hard to choose! I was really tempted by the birria ramen - I may have to come back just to try that. I like that they have traditional Mexican/Tex Mex food as well as wings, burgers, and salads. Anyone would be happy eating here. To start, the chips came out hot and freshly fried and the salsa is nice and mild with a lot of tomato flavor. My Mom ordered the Ghost smash burger and I had the spice dusted wings. Both of those come with fries or tots, and we got fries. I also got a side salad with their southwest Caesar dressing, and it was really good. Topped with fresh tortilla strips and a decent amount of dressing - it wasn't overdressed, but I might get it on the side next time. Fresh and yummy. I really enjoyed the wings - they were a decent size and not overly breaded or frozen wing dings. These are legit chicken wings and I love the spice mixture as well as the delicious cotija ranch type dressing they come with. That's really good. My Mom's burger was also delicious - nice and hot with queso sauce and a fresh soft bun. A pretty perfect large burger. I will say that they're using frozen potato products, but with such a small workspace, I can see why that's necessary. And I'm not mad at it - the prices are very reasonable, and they came out hot and crispy with seasoning on them, so they're definitely decent. We'll be back every time we're in Pontiac! They're very close to the UWM campus and sports complex, so that's a big plus. They have specials, and on Saturdays KIDS EAT FREE!

All 3 meals had flavorless meat that looked more freezer burned than cooked. The cotija cheese that topped everything tasted a bit turned/sour and the guacamole was possibly green a few days ago. For my experience this evening, this place is a good candidate for Gordon Ramsey's Restaurant Rescue. Also, Music: I will add this is the first time I have ever eaten Mexican food to Chariots of Fire and Seal's Crazy.
