My wife and I simply love Simply Wine in Northville. It has become our go-to spot because they always have something interesting on the shelves, especially from regions I normally would not even think to explore. The team does a great job curating and they are happy to talk through what they are pouring, which I really appreciate. Join the premium wine club and you will be blown away! If you like getting to know the staff, and feel like a regular, this place hits the mark. The wine dispensing machines are a blast. I want one for home, but that might be dangerous. You can try small 1.25 oz tastes or go straight to a full pour from a dozen or more different wines, so it is easy to experiment without overthinking it. Bring a charcuterie board, settle in, and you are all set. Simply Wine is a great neighborhood spot and we are lucky to have it in Northville. read more

As an update to my earlier review things have changed pretty drastically for me in the Michigan wine space as the vast majority of the internet wine companies I use to deal with can no longer ship wine from out of state to Michigan based on local regulations. As a result this, I have gotten more exposure to the local wine retail business and with that a greater appreciation for what businesses like Simply wine have to offer which is the purpose of this update. In particular, Simply Wine packs quite a punch considering the modest square footage footprint of their store where they carry a fairly large and diverse wine selection that covers most of the major wine regions of the world. The wines vary from well known major players to lesser known boutique wineries that offer excellent quality at a much lower price point. Tied in with this and the thing I appreciate the most is their monthly/quarterly wine clubs that have both a lower cost boutique Classic club and a more pricier premium wine club. I have found over time that I have gotten into a rut drinking the same varietals of wine over and over again and not getting out of my comfort zone. These clubs with their curated wines have changed that by exposing me to different wines/varietals that I would normally never try where in my case, I have opted to go with the lower cost Classic Wine club of two bottles a month of the Boutique wines for $30. Prime objective of me joining this club was to find new wines to add to my daily drinker collection where this club has hit it out of the park for me in how much I am enjoying these new wines. These Boutique wines while new to me are very good, with a unique flavor profile and more on the wallet friendly side of the ledger which being a retiree I find very appealing as I am always trying to stretch my dollars and get the most bang for the buck which this business over delivers on. If you are into wine you should definately check this business out and while there you owe it to yourself to check out their wine clubs and what they have to offer as you will not be disappointed. read more

After lunch at Rebecca's, we wondered over to Simply wine because I thought I had read that they do tastings but they do not (or did not when we stopped in). Very nice selection of wines and you can create your own tasting menu by opting for 4 Oz portions of various wines. Lots of wine accessories if looking for a gift. Very nice wine shop with a tasting room. They have unique sampling system that preserves the wine flavor with inert argon gas. This allows them them to sample numerous wines (16 were available). Sadly, the automated system can't be schmoozed into providing generous pours. Fortunately, it won't pour any sediment into your glass and adjusts the price accordingly if you get the last of the bottle. Also, when your wine card is almost depleted, either top it off or select a pour; it will dispense a wine quanta commensurate with the dollar amount remaining. Very friendly and helpful staff. The prices may not be very competitive, but it's a great place to "try before you buy". Recommend. read more

I just hosted my big sister's surprise 40th Birthday Party here. The setting was beautiful and the staff was so accommodating. Lindsey was the best. The wine was amazing. My sister had a ball. Parking is in the rear. Wine prices start at $1.50 a pour. Private parties are scheduled after they close. $100 per hour plus gratuity. We had an open bar for our guests and brought in our own food. My brother in law paid so I don't know what that cost for 25 people. He's still speaking to me sooooo it might not have been too high. This is the perfect spot for a girls night out. Simply wine simply ROCKS! My mom and I were in downtown Northville after a massage and meandered into Simply Wine to see if we could pick up a nice bottle for the dinner we were making that night. The displays are set up really well - the higher priced wines are on the inside and the lower priced wines are on the exterior racks, which makes it easy to shop in your preferred price range. So what makes this little shop a 5-star? First, the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. But mostly, there is a wine tasting area in the back! Ask one of the owners for a swipe card and head to the 16 wines they have on tap. You can insert your prepaid card and get either a taste (1 oz), a half or a full glass of wine and sip at one of the adorable barrel shaped tables they have set up. Feeling like a little snack? Ask for one of their platters of cheese and crackers to pair with your wine. My mom and I couldn't resist the opportunity so, in the early afternoon, we plopped right down and tasted 4 different wines that were all great! I'll admit that I am a bit of a wino. I was very excited to see this wine shop open in downtown Northville. Owners Laura and Maria do a wonderful job of steering you in the right direction and really becoming familiar with your tastes. They keep a running list of your prior purchases and will inquire as to how you liked your last buy. I'm able to then "call ahead" and have a case waiting for pick-up. Talk about efficiency! Delightful little winery in the center of northvilles down town, across the street from famous Rebecca's ice cream shop. They have very modern and expensive way of doing tastings. They have a machine which holds all their tasting bottles and nitrogen gas so it's probably good for weeks if not months after their open. They give you a smart card to swipe at the machine which tracks how much you've been drinking. You put the card in select the wine you want and the select the amount, sip, half-full, full. It's great way to keep track of how much you've spent and drank, making the tasting process faster. The winery is essentially replacign the variable cost of servers with the fixed costs of dispensing equipment (my inner MBA coming out). The downside is that it makes the process a bit impersonal and you cant consult with a bartender on wine suggestions. The positive is the speed, lower prices and novelty. Chocolate, nuts, charcuterie or a cheese platter are all fine choices, but if you crave a bag of Doritos that's perfectly fine, too. This is a good place to come with some girlfriends, but also a fun place for couples or to come on a double date after dinner. Enjoy a good conversation or bring some cards for a relaxing game. Along the back wall there are several techy winedispensers. You get a card at the counter which is preloaded with I believe $20. You select a wine, stick the card in the appropriate machine, place a glass (provided) under the spout and select the amount of wine you would like; a taste, half a glass or a full glass. The fun part is reading the descriptions for the rotating wines and trying the ones that sound good. The store specialized in products like Vernors, Sander's, Pinconning cheese, copper art, etc. In the back was a Michigan wine cellar and small beer store. I became quite familiar with Michigan wines and heavily promoted them because with all our orchards and vineyards, Michigan is an ideal place to make wine. Even after leaving the store and moving on, I still kept up with my wine knowledge. I was delighted to find this business in Northville. It's a beautiful, brick-covered store, with lots of rare bottles. in back, is a tasting room, with tables and stools. You can purchase cheese plates to enhance your sipping and really have a great time. I spoke to the manager( owner?) and she told me that she has 26 distributors so she can get any wine anyone might want. They also have a wine club and wine events that would be fun to try during the cold Michigan winters! read more

I was in last night for the first time. It was really crowded but we were able to find seats for 4 of us. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They explained how the wine tasting worked and stayed with us while we made our first selection to make sure we didn't have any problems. They had 19 wines to choose from which was great. They also refilled with different wines throughout the evening. They offered water and had snacks for sale. You could also bring in your own food if you wanted. Everyone in my group agreed that we preferred to have a person pouring our samples. Half the fun of wine tasting is listening to the server! We were also disappointed that a lot of the wines they had to sample they didn't have for sale. All in all, a fun evening. I would go back but I don't think it would be my first choice. read more

I went there for the first time on Tuesday and I must say I fell in love with this place as soon as I walked in. As soon as we walked in we were greeted staff was very nice I can't Remember their name (so sorry) but they were so nice. They guided us through exactly what to do and how everything worked. If one bottle was out it was replaced immediately with one that was similar to the previous one. This place is very intimate and that's why we loved it. I love this place! My boyfriend and I stopped in one evening on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised. It has a casual atmosphere with a sort of rustic flair.
