I ordered the original smash burger and it was great. The meat was a good quality and the fries were the very good. Winner was their ranch. It was so really good ranch. I had a mock tail, I forgot the name. But it had berries and black pepper I believe. It was interesting, but I wouldn't order it again. Prices were too bad, I feel a lot of places are the same. I really liked this spot! They had excellent and friendly service. A fun seasonal menu and an inviting ambiance. For starters we ordered heirloom carrots with crumbled feta and braised beets accompanied by whipped feta and crushed pistachios. Both were superb. For the entrees we tried their short rib with mashed potatoes and gravy, and an heirloom carrot to guild the lily. We also tried their gochujang pork belly served Korean style with sides of kimchi, a really crisly noodle of some sort and what was maybe pickled pears?! They also made a fair to good old fashioned and their Rosemary's Baby cocktail was refreshing and bright. It was a little pricey but I felt it was worth it. I left happy and just the right amount of full. I almost forgot to mention that they have a decent happy hour menu and patio seating. Staff were very accommodating to seat us outside on the patio. I ordered a drink which came in a tiki mug which was very cool. We got the beets and feta appetizer which, in my opinion, didn't have enough whipped feta, but was tasty. Our entrees came out almost right after the appetizer which was bad timing. 8 of us tried out this cute new place in Farmington Hills. Our waitress was very friendly, but I feel like she was very overwhelmed. We ordered most of the appetizers... would recommend all of them, except the shrimp. The waffles were good, but didn't have any type of cornbread taste. Salad and soups were great... French onion soup was amazing. Everyone enjoyed the main dinners, except the steak frites was dry. We had to ask for zip sauce, because it just needed something. Even with some of the food being a miss, I would have given this place 5 stars, but I had to take off a star because we received our salads/soups and dinners at exactly the same time. It was such a let down... you don't know if you should continue with your app so it doesn't get cold, but then your main meal is cold. You should never bring both out at the same time. To top it all off, there was plenty of room and no one else coming in. Also, they need a few more dessert options. We had to go down the street for dessert, as the two didn't sound appealing. OMG the shrimp and grits were absolutely AMAZING!! I was told that the chef is Nola born and raised and that the shrimp & grits are popular. Well let me tell you I was blown away with the flavor and I especially enjoyed the Cajun butter. There was a lovely kick to it. 10/10 I definitely recommend!! Service is fantastic. Our waitress was the only one on the floor (!!) yet was personable, hilarious, and just a wonderful human being. Food & drink are better than you'd expect. Shrimp: idk what's in the chili sauce, but it's the best version of that I've ever tasted. Would order again. They do need a GF option for the crostini, it's unfair to pay the same price and not get the same amount of food. Spritz was perfectly balanced, I was tempted to order a second. Instead, they had a mocktail with fresh herbs and ginger that was actually worth consuming, it was not lacking in flavor at all. Love their commitment to limiting seed oils. I met an old friend here for brunch and we had the most lovely time! The space is cute and cozy. It's not huge but there are a good amount of tables and a bunch of bar seating as well. My friend and I hadn't seen each other in almost a decade and we were gabbing away and catching up that we kept forgetting to look at our menus but our awesome waitress was more than friendly and accommodating to our lack of focus! Everything on the brunch menu sounded great and we had a hard time deciding but ultimately we both landed on the short rib hash, which was excellent. My only complaint was I would have liked a little more short rib since it was so good but It was more than enough food. Oh, BTW--it was a Sunday afternoon and it was busy but not packed so I didn't feel bad about keeping a table going for a bit longer. We were told they were out of short rib, then as soon as we cashed out (which took forever btw) I heard someone tell a woman at the bar that "she got the last one". Pretty crappy. The staff were literally texting and socializing as we waited in a mostly empty restaurant to get our bill and boxes. I don't really mind people checking their phones I guess but having LOUD inappropriate conversations does not lend itself well to a restaurant charging these sort of prices. Service was solid, no complaints there. I ordered pasta, which in hindsight probably wasn't the right call for this type of place. My girlfriend had the pasta rosa and I went with the short rib pasta. The shrimp wasn't really "bang bang shrimp" like advertised, but it was decent enough. The French onion soup was actually a highlight -- the crunchy bread in it was a nice touch and gave it good texture. Where it fell short for me was the pasta. That might be partly on me for ordering it at a spot that isn't really an Italian restaurant, but still -- the sauce just wasn't good. The short rib itself was fine, but the sauce tasted like it came straight out of a can, which killed the dish. Overall, it feels like they're trying to position themselves as a higher-end restaurant based on pricing and location, but to pull that off, the food -- especially the ingredients and execution -- needs to be at a higher level. read more

Because they were that good! We finished the evening with a decadent slice of Carrot Cake...a special nod to our wedding, where carrot cake was also our choice. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, the entire team was welcoming and attentive. The owner was a delight to chat with, clearly passionate about what they do, and it shows in every detail. The only thing we could say that moves the pros and cons needle would be the level of noise. If they are busy the conversation noise increases and make it difficult to chat at your table. You are engaged in the table to the back even if you are seated near the front. After checking Yelp and thinking about the Asian restaurants I've been to in the area with good reviews, I realized they haven't been great for me--so I changed course and decided to try Spruce and Ash. I'd been wanting to try their beet and feta salad, and after exploring the menu, I also ordered their beet Korean wings. I loved every bite--both were incredibly satisfying and very tasty. The restaurant is a quaint little spot in downtown Farmington. Outdoor seating was quite full, and once I went inside I realized the inside was fully seated as well. I was instructed to order at the bar, and I was immediately attended to and offered water while I waited for my order. The bar was simple, organized, and very clean. The interior is rather small, but it hardly felt crowded. My order was well bagged, but when I got home there was no flatware or napkins--so thankfully I wasn't planning to eat right away. I'm genuinely excited to try something else on the menu, but I'd definitely repeat my beet salad and Korean wings order. If you're in the downtown Farmington area, give Spruce and Ash a try!
