8 of us tried out this cute new place in Farmington Hills. Our waitress was very friendly, but I feel like she was very overwhelmed. We ordered most of the appetizers... would recommend all of them, except the shrimp. The waffles were good, but didn't have any type of cornbread taste. Salad and soups were great... French onion soup was amazing. Everyone enjoyed the main dinners, except the steak frites was dry. We had to ask for zip sauce, because it just needed something. Even with some of the food being a miss, I would have given this place 5 stars, but I had to take off a star because we received our salads/soups and dinners at exactly the same time. It was such a let down... you don't know if you should continue with your app so it doesn't get cold, but then your main meal is cold. You should never bring both out at the same time. To top it all off, there was plenty of room and no one else coming in. Also, they need a few more dessert options. We had to go down the street for dessert, as the two didn't sound appealing. The pictures are of the apps... everything else came out in such a rush, we couldn't get pictures.

Only been open about six months now, but when it comes to appetizing and flavorful meals they hit the ground running! Order a table or sidle up to the bar and chat up the friendly bar staff. The fish and chips is a winner. Huge haddock filets are delicately battered and fried up moist and flaky. Add an extra filet for an up charge. And the fries!--they're shoestring skinny and fried in beef tallow. You can't stop eating them. It's the kind of place that makes you want to try a little of everything on their menu. Go with a group and sample each other's dishes. So glad we stopped in!

Such a nice warm environment and our food was amazing! They were able to fit us in even with them being busy and our food came out FAST! Not to mention... the cook made a special order for my Uncle who really wanted the schnitzel. We stopped through from Ohio and we will be back for sure. Everything is made fresh and from scratch with love. 10/1

Such a charming brunch spot right in the heart of downtown Farmington! I love the outdoor patio seating just as much as I love the food. My first visit, I went for the spicy chicken sandwich; the second time, the French toast--both were amazing. I will, however, steer clear of the Paloma carafe next time... waaaaaayy too tart! Epresso, yes!

Wedge was great. Pasta Rosa with Shrimp - not an ounce of seasoning on the shrimp. Sauce was great. Would have been really good if something was done with the shrimp

We had a wonderful evening celebrating our anniversary dinner at Spruce + Ash. Aside from sharing it with my favorite person, the highlights were the incredible service, cozy ambiance, and amazing food. Started with a refreshing Berry Smash (N/A) and we shared the Deconstructed Potato Skins that were filling, flavorful, and so unique. While we originally planned on the braised short ribs and lamb chops, we ended up ordering the Fish & Chips and Chicken Tenders. I know, you might wonder: Why order those at an upscale restaurant? Because they were that good! We finished the evening with a decadent slice of Carrot Cake...a special nod to our wedding, where carrot cake was also our choice. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, the entire team was welcoming and attentive. The owner was a delight to chat with, clearly passionate about what they do, and it shows in every detail. The only thing we could say that moves the pros and cons needle would be the level of noise. If they are busy the conversation noise increases and make it difficult to chat at your table. You are engaged in the table to the back even if you are seated near the front. There is outdoor seating available. If you're hesitant about the pricing, don't be it's worth every penny (Note: They do not accept cash for payment, only credit cards; however, cash can be left as a tip.). Beautifully presented, high-quality food is an experience, and Spruce + Ash delivers on all fronts. We're already planning to come back for brunch and can't wait to see what else they have to offer. If we could go weekly, we would! GOALS: to try everything Lastly, our server Kyla personality was the hidden gem. When you can say you are proud of the dishes they serve and you look forward to showing off new creations...you are an ideal addition to the team

Went here tonight for the first time. Decided to sit outside on the patio since it was such a nice night. Also much quieter than sitting inside. Really liked the drink menu, but the bar selection for other things like amaretto was a bit limited. The short rib was excellent. The fries cooked in beef fat were also top notch. My only complaints were that the server seemed very inexperienced and the steak I ordered was very well done even though I ordered it medium rare. Seems like they're still working out some bugs, but we'll definitely be back.

What a gem! Spruce + Ash is a hip little spot with big flavor. I came for the vibes and stayed for what might be the best fish and chips I've ever had--crispy, flaky, and huge. The fries? Perfection. The cocktails? Balanced and creative (I may or may not have had two). The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the whole place just has this cool, laid-back energy. Can't wait to come back--this one's officially in the rotation.

Lone Lights is a place that makes their own spirits, which you can purchase, and also sample with a menu that rotates seasonally. Their drinks are unique and provide a variety of things to experiment with for flavors. The bar atmosphere is great and I look forward to summer when they can open up the doors and we can spread out a little bit more. From Retro Bliss to Corporate Miss - 1Up's New Management Hits Rock Bottom…read more.. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. 1Up Arcade Bar, once my go-to haven for arcade nostalgia and friendly vibes, has devolved into a shell of its former self. Under the new management, the experience has gone from retro joy to something resembling a garish corporate money pit. If you're looking to relive the good old days of arcade glory, consider this your neon-lit warning sign to stay far, far away. First off, the bartenders. Remember last year when 1Up's bartenders were warm, cheerful, and chatty, making you feel like you were part of the family? Well, those days are deader than my high score on Pac-Man. The new bartenders treat you with the exact enthusiasm you'd expect from someone waiting at the DMV. Ordering a drink here feels like you've personally interrupted their day--and heaven forbid you ask any questions about the menu. Smiles? Gone. Friendly banter? Vanished. You're left standing there with your overpriced, uninspired drink wondering if you've wandered into a soulless high-end cocktail bar by mistake. Ah, the drinks. Once playful and creative masterpieces that added to 1Up's charm, they've been replaced with pretentious, unimaginative concoctions that scream, "We're fancy now; please empty your wallet." No fun, no spirit (pun intended), just overpriced disappointments. At their current price point, I half expected the drink to come with complimentary resentment from the staff. And don't get me started on the arcade machines. Gone are the iconic retro classics that made me feel like I'd stepped back into the golden age of arcades. Instead, the place is now stuffed with bright, flashy, wallet-draining horrors you'd find at a Dave and Buster's. What happened to the charm? The authenticity? Now it's just a playground for toddlers with no attention spans and those who value flashing lights over actual gameplay. Speaking of, if you're a Gen Z-er armed with your parents' credit card and an inability to go three seconds without dopamine overload, this place might actually be a dream come true for you. The rest of us? Not so much. Look, 1Up Arcade Bar used to be a gem, but now it feels like a soulless cash grab. Don't come here hoping for a genuine arcade bar experience because you'll leave disappointed--and poorer. Save your time, save your money, and spare yourself the heartbreak of seeing what this place has become. RIP, old 1Up. You are sorely missed.

The music was actually so loud it was hard to catch up with my friend. I wasn't aware of how cozy the spot was. We weren't allowed to sit next to each other (understandably so, the seats are designed for two/four people to sit across from each other like normal) so that made it easiest to just quiet up and listen to the music. I have no problem with that, the singer was great! The waitress was kind for even checking with the manager to see if we could adjust the seating arrangement. I had to ask lol I had the fried salmon bites, very salty but good flavor. Oh, and one of the two bathroom stalls wouldn't close but luckily girl code helped us stay secure! This spot is a hidden gem especially for those who appreciate a very intimate live music performance, when they have it. I'd like to try more of the food.

I arrived early to sample their Happy Hour where I got a Tommy Margarita which was one of four cocktail choices on the Happy Hour menu where the other choices are an Old Fashion, Lemon Drop Martini and a Black Manhattan. All of which I personally am a fan of. Relative to my Margarita, it was very well made with 2 full ounces of Blanco Tequila as the base and quite tasty. Definately a drink with a kick and not a watered down version you get at most other bars in the area. At $8 it's a pretty good deal in my opinion especially for a drink of this quality. Relative to Dinner my wife got the White Fish dinner and I got the Milanese Chicken. Both dishes were excellent where they were cooked to perfection and were delicious. Prices on the menu were a tad high in my opinion but the old adage that you get what you pay for applies here and is definately worth the cost in my opinion. Appetizer was the Calamari which was well made and quite tasty in its own right. Relative to staff and facility, the facility is very classy with a nice contemporary flair to it, Definately an upscale feel to it where both the bar and the dining area offer an elevated dining/drinking experience. Staff was super friendly with great follow up where the bar can be a tad slower as only one bartender was working while I was there but he did a fairly good job of keeping up with the orders and high marks for his efficiency. Overall a great classy restaurant with a nice Happy Hour makes this a destination restaurant worth the trip if you live outside this area.
