This wine store is great! The people who work there are the biggest and most considerate people ever. I always stock up on my wines and high noons and after check out they always help me carry all the boxes all the way to my car. If there is something you're looking at and it is low on stock they will immediately go to the back and check if there's more or a different flavor of you want it. Came here because I needed advice for a dinner I was having and I honestly don't know too much about wine or pairings, so was looking for some help in that arena. Thankfully I was directed to Jon as soon as I walked in. Jon took his time to look over the menu that I had and made some great suggestions based on every course for what I should serve. He even took into account my budget to make sure I was getting the best I could for what I was looking to pay. This has been my "go-to" wine store for several years - well over 20. Everyone who works there is kind, helpful & knowledgeable. They have regular tastings which is a great way to try new/different wines before purchasing an entire bottle. They recently underwent a fairly major renovation that really opened up the space and made it brighter. I just wish they would carry more reduced alcohol wines (Bread & Butter Sliced, Sunny with a Chance of Flowers, etc.) read more

1/12/20 This is been my go to Wine Store for about 15 years. Chris Hinton sold out a couple years ago and it is called just The Wine Store now, but they kept their most knowledgeable staff. Both Keith and Jon are very personable and knowledgeable as are most of the other employees. Their prices are very competitive, but be sure to sign up for email specials and consider joining their wine club as tastings are free. The free email notifications of wines that are going on sale are invaluable as many times the wines specials seem to be sold out that way. A great place to shop for Wine and liquor! read more

This gem of a place came as recommendation from my neighbour. This place has unbelievable wines coming out of big and small vineyards alike (all across the globe). Not only is the price point at which they sell their wines is extremely attractive, but also their knowledge pertaining to their products is vast. I have purchased ~20 wines so far, and have yet to find a reason to be disappointed. If you want to know the composition of a particular wine coupled with the characteristics of region it has been grown in, the conditions prevalent at the time, the history of that vineyard etc then Keith is your man :-) read more

Chris Hinton, the owner, was better known in his days as a pro football player, playing for the Falcons, Vikings and Colts (Indy). However, his passion is wine and champagne and it really shows. Probably the best selection of wine in the area at all price ranges and Chris has people working for him (Keith, in particular) who really know their wines. On Fridays and Saturdays, Chris has wine tastings next door at Bin 75 (his jersey #). If you join the wine club, the tastings are free. If not, they're $10 or $15. Still a great deal. Chris also has a wine bar at Bin 75 with a huge selection of wines at all price ranges sold by the ounce. It's on a nitrogen system so the wines will stay fresh for long periods. Good place to sip a wine you'd never buy because of the price or wouldn't until you'd tried it. I have enough faith in their ability to select wines that I always ask them to pick wines for me. I've been shopping here since they opened 10 years ago. It's fun to see Chris's football memorabilia around the store but, to be honest, I like him more as a wine merchant than I did as a football player. read more

5-stars for an excellent local store. My father-in-law and I sometimes refer to this store as "The Toy Store" because they can sometimes have such cool wines and a nice variety to boot. I love going to Hinton's. The staff is friendly and they have a good selection of liquor and a nice variety of wines. The Sandy Springs location has a much better craft beer selection than this Holcomb Bridge location, but you can still find decent craft beers from time to time. This is the best wine store that I have ever been to. I check prices all of the time and they are invariably the same or lower on 90% of the wine. They are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There are long term employees that drink good wine so they know what they are talking about. They also have great specials frequently. I think they do that so I come in a lot! It works. read more

Two positive experiences.... I asked the employee to recommend a good cab for around $50. He said this is one of the best cabs I've tasted... and it's $30. I asked them to order a case of wine from the distributor.... They quoted me about $16. I had no idea what the retail price was... seemed good to me. Two days after I picked up my wine, they called me and said the overcharged me. The price of the wine was $13 and they wanted to credit my charge card. I would have never known. You have ti be a fan of Hinton's because it is the only liquor store in the area lol. When I lived not too far from here and this is my go to place. It is conveniently in front of Kroger. So I can pick up some groceries and stop in Hinton's for a nice bottle of wine. The wine prices do seem comparable to other liquor stores and there is a nice sized selection. I don't drink beer and have not paid attention to their selection to know if it is good or lacking. I live far from this location now, but if I was in the area, this would definitely be my choice. read more

Updated review: Well someone at Hinton's ended up calling me several days after my original review and said that my reserved Hopslam was ready for pick up. So... besides their communication issues and a bit of attitude on the phone, I guess they deserve a couple more stars? Original review: I called to reserve a 6 pack of Bell's Hopslam last Friday. They took down my name and phone number and said they would call me when it came in on Wednesday or Thursday of this week. One of the top wine shops in Atlanta. I attend many of the tastings and while I do buy certain wines at other shops all over the city (nobody carries everything I like), it is only b/c they don't have them. Their pricing is competitive and if you get on their email list, you'll be the first to know about their most spectacular deals. They also run 20% off cases twice a year for a week, a great time to stock up on the more expensive stuff, which they have lots of. Don't get me wrong, they have lots of great value wines, especially in the $10 - $20 range. If you want to know more about French and Italian wines, their wine buyer Keith is a great resource for all degrees of experience, from novices to "experts". Everyone who works there is very nice and helpful and if you get the chance to meet the owner, Chris Hinton, I highly recommend saying hello. He's a very engaging person who knows a lot about wine and makes you feel very comfortable, whether you are a first timer or a regular. read more

Keith is an incredible source of information and is very helpful, competent, and conversant about all that is good. His recommendations for new wines to try have been spot on, and he's been very faithful in getting us what we've ordered even when it's hard to come by and no one else can get what we need. We will definitely continue to support and rely on Hinton's as our go-to for good wine, and we will recommend them to anyone who will listen! First time shopping here and bought two bottles of red wine and a bottle of bourbon and asked at the register if they happened to have any wooden wine boxes that I'd be happy to pay for (can get them for free elsewhere but we don't like to presume). Was told by an employee that no they don't usually keep those on hand as wines aren't shipped in them anymore. Customer next to me, a few minutes later asked for the same thing and same employee returned from the back with three boxes. Customer says he only needs one (was I supposed to ignore this?) I casually said looks like you found a few can I have one? Was told they were only for paying customers...I gestured to the purchase I made and was told wine had to be more expensive?? $100 bottles? Felt like I was in a bad Seinfeld episode. Outrageous that employees have the audacity to lie to your face and then tell me they treat me differently because I spent less. We've been going to Hinton's for several years and now buy all our wine there. We attend 1-2 tastings a month and love the variety of tasting events, Some of them are for a specific area, distributor, or wine type, but they all give us a chance to compare moderate priced (and up) wines against similar wines. There are also specialty tastings from time to time. The store stocks inexpensive to the sublime. The atmosphere is friendly and all the employees are knowledable.
