You can find Max's Bottle Shop at 6395 McGinnis Ferry Rd Ste 304, Johns Creek, GA 30005 - this is on the back-side and one level down from the Johns Creek Village shopping center that's on the corner of McGinnis Ferry and Medlock Bridge roads. Parking is out front - it's a bit limited but people usually come in and out fairly quickly so you don't have to wait long for a spot. Getting into the lot can be a bit tricky - if you're coming up Medlock you can cut through the Johns Creek Village lot - it's a bit tricky but it's better than making a U-turn from the McGinnis Ferry side. I've made random stops at this bottle shop for about the past year - usually when traffic is really bad and I've been directed through Johns Creek to make my way home from north Alpharetta. I had heard about Max's via friends who are into craft beer - to me that's what makes this shop really shine. Sure I know about other beer stores, some tend to really post a lot on social medial exalting their inventory and virtues - what I like about Max's is that they are rather humble about what they have and the inventory and selection is amazing. Most recently I attended a private mead demonstration here provided by the local distributor ModernHops - it was very well attended and had guests from local meaderies providing information on their wares. The demo was pretty special, with many different styles and types of meads provided and commentary about each, as well as the companies producing the mead. Max closed that evening to host the event - just the type people they are as the customer service at Max's is top-notch. I wish I had taken more photos of the beer selection - back and to the right are the locals and they have quantities of many hard-to-find craft brands. Then there's this huge aisle that's full of bottle releases - much to peruse and they have stock of some things that most stores haven't heard of. Plan to spend some time here to take in all the glory - forget about Tower or Greens - this store is worth visiting as a destination spot for beer, especially in this northern quadrant between Alpharetta and Duluth.

Bought an expensive bottle of Chardonnay here and gave it as a gift. Our friends texted us pictures of the brittle cork. The bottle was not properly cared for. It made the bottle undrinkable. It's not like you could return it and even if you could who is going to bother returning a gift. So dissatisfied. This place may be good for a quick pick up but look to Pops for high end wines.

Great customer service and affordable prices. Just came here to get whiskey for my hot toddy and they were so helpful.

Max's for the win. Great selection of Brown's and good rarities available. Sale prices are hard to beat---and often on top makes.

Great selection of spirits and beers. I particularly like the fact that he had a wide range of sour beers, Meads, and specialty alcohols.

The selection is vast, there is plenty of beer, wine and liquor to meet anyone's needs. When you walk in, you can grab a little cart in case you're buying way more than you think you're going to need in order to make it easier to lug around all the bottles you are going to get. Coming from Chicago, I am used to very competitive pricing even with the high rate of taxes that they push there in IL. The pricing here is also very competitive. I like buying the "handles" because the price per oz. is going to be the best, and yeah it's hard to store handles in your home but why pay more when you can get the best deal possible? On checkout, they have put up a plastic barrier to keep your distance from the person cashing you out. It's a nice touch, and gives you the peace of mind that you're not going to have close contact with anyone if you can avoid it. The cashier also offered to provide me with a box so I could carry everything out to my car conveniently so I also liked that touch. HOWEVER.... The last time I was here, I had a very awkward encounter while shopping. I was the only one in the store that was not an employee, and I assume this person was the owner or manager...he was super unhappy with the placement one of the other employees made with boxes of beverages on a display in the store. He was REALLY unhappy and kept commenting on it to the employee, and it was super awkward. I guess it had something to do with the wood flooring, and I get that it's probably something that could have been avoided. But I was walking around the store trying to figure out how to avoid being around this super agitated situation. I wish that they took the conversation in the back, or maybe handled it with a quiet dialogue rather than having the boss chew this guy out right on the spot for at least 3-4 minutes while I'm trying to figure out how to get what I need and get the hell out of dodge. You're the boss, or the owner- it's your right to treat your employees however you do- but man it's super weird to watch that happen while I'm trying to spend over $120 on alcohol at your store. It's like watching people that treat servers poorly just because they think they are better than them. Not a fan. Especially these days when things are super stressful enough with employment, health, and finances being so up in the air. It just was rough all around. I hope that it was a one time thing, but I don't know that I'm coming back here because I felt horrible about the entire situation. If I could have stayed and told the guy getting hollered at to try and let it roll off, I would have. But it was still going on when I left.

I can't say enough nice things about these guys. They carry a great selection of beer, wine and…read morespirits.
