Awesome bottle shop! We went a little out of the way seeking out a new Creature Comforts IPA that just hit the market and we were just blown away by the beer selection!! There were so many top notch hard to find brewers that we typically seek out and we ended up getting more than what we popped in for LOL!! There was a ton of wine and spirits and I will definitely go back when I'm seeking that for sure. Just walking back to the beer I saw some Tequila that I've not seen before....the guy that checked us out was really nice and even gave us a box to carry our beer away in. Hands down the best spirits shop in the area for quality spirits that are boutique, artisinal and rare to find. The owner takes pride in not carrying mass produced, cookie-cutter brands, preferring to offer a curated selection of some of the best single malts, mezcals, rums, armagnacs, etc. you will find anywhere. Anytime I am in town I make it a point to stop in and grab some beauties, and the owner always has great items he recommends that never fail to impress. read more

Amazing little bottle shop with well informed staff. I rolled in and told the clerk what I was looking for. I was shown the awesome racks of larger format beers. Many craft breweries have moved away from larger than 16 oz bottles. I miss that format as it was a good sized bottle of beer to share with friends. You can find Max's Bottle Shop at 6395 McGinnis Ferry Rd Ste 304, Johns Creek, GA 30005 - this is on the back-side and one level down from the Johns Creek Village shopping center that's on the corner of McGinnis Ferry and Medlock Bridge roads. Parking is out front - it's a bit limited but people usually come in and out fairly quickly so you don't have to wait long for a spot. Getting into the lot can be a bit tricky - if you're coming up Medlock you can cut through the Johns Creek Village lot - it's a bit tricky but it's better than making a U-turn from the McGinnis Ferry side. I've made random stops at this bottle shop for about the past year - usually when traffic is really bad and I've been directed through Johns Creek to make my way home from north Alpharetta. I had heard about Max's via friends who are into craft beer - to me that's what makes this shop really shine. Sure I know about other beer stores, some tend to really post a lot on social medial exalting their inventory and virtues - what I like about Max's is that they are rather humble about what they have and the inventory and selection is amazing. Most recently I attended a private mead demonstration here provided by the local distributor ModernHops - it was very well attended and had guests from local meaderies providing information on their wares. The demo was pretty special, with many different styles and types of meads provided and commentary about each, as well as the companies producing the mead. Max closed that evening to host the event - just the type people they are as the customer service at Max's is top-notch. I wish I had taken more photos of the beer selection - back and to the right are the locals and they have quantities of many hard-to-find craft brands. Then there's this huge aisle that's full of bottle releases - much to peruse and they have stock of some things that most stores haven't heard of. Plan to spend some time here to take in all the glory - forget about Tower or Greens - this store is worth visiting as a destination spot for beer, especially in this northern quadrant between Alpharetta and Duluth. read more

Bought an expensive bottle of Chardonnay here and gave it as a gift. Our friends texted us pictures of the brittle cork. The bottle was not properly cared for. It made the bottle undrinkable. It's not like you could return it and even if you could who is going to bother returning a gift. So dissatisfied. This place may be good for a quick pick up but look to Pops for high end wines. read more

It's been a long time that I've been visiting Max's, and I've never left a review, and for that I'm sorry. I absolutely love this store! It's super clean and organized, doesn't smell funky like many I've visited, and If they don't have something I'm looking for (which is rare), they are happy to order it for me. The level of customer service at Max's is not common with liquor stores in my experience. Ritesh is so uber knowledgeable in all things liquor beer and wine it's impressive! And Lloyd, always a sweet friendly face when I walk through the doors. This is like my 'cheers', my sweet little neighborhood bottle shop. I appreciate that y'all are here and hope you stay forever! This has to be one of the best bottle shops I have ever been to. They have the largest selection of craft beer I have ever seen. Also I have been getting into whiskey and bourbon lately... it is amazing the selection Max has. Whenever I talk to the manager (I presume) he always tells me the most amazing history behind some of the rarest or interesting whiskey available. Recently he told me about an Indian whiskey called AMRUT. I would have never tried an Indian whiskey if I wasn't for him. And let me tell you AMRUT is some amazing stuff!!!! They also have a nice selection of wine. They have helped me whenever I need to pick out a special bottle of wine for an event I was going to. And my friends always ask me where did I get the wine from? Max's!!!!! I only have one problem with this store. I seem to walk out with a lot less money in my bank account after visiting and a lot more good stuff to drink. read more

This is the place to go if you're looking for a wide beer selection. There are 2 full aisles of bottles and six packs (and 4 pack) from around the globe with a variety of every beer style. Plus a full aisle of cooler doors dedicated to keeping packages cold. This is hands down the best bottle shop in the Alpharetta and John's Creek area for craft beer. I live within a radius that has several liquor stores within a few miles but I always take the 20 minute detour to head to Max's. They heavily communicate via Instagram on new shipments of hard to find beer and are quick to respond with any questions. If you can't find what you are looking for here then chances are none of the other bottle shops in the metro atlanta area have it either. They bring to the table a wide selection from Modern Hops - a newish distributor that is bringing beer to GA that we previously could not get. It is a wonderful shop with great employees and they have earned my business for life. read more

I am SHOCKED that this place receives such good reviews. Every time I have been to this store, the proprietor has been dismissive, short and borderline hostile. I have continued shopping there only because of the convenient location, however, after today's experience I plan on never returning.
