ADVICE TO FUTURE AND CURRENT CUSTOMERS, TAKE ALL YOUR BUSINESS A FEW MILES NORTH ON BUFORD HWY TO TOWER. THEY ACTUALLY SHOW THEIR CUSTOMERS RESPECT NO MATTER WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE OR WHAT YOU ASK THEM ABOUT. If I could give negative stars I would!! I have never been treated so poorly as a customer before. This "family-owned" business should go back to school and learn customer service AND enroll into anger management therapy. From past reviews on Yelp and Google, it seems the "Family-owned" business profiles it's customers in all the negative ways! While in Chamblee, GA for work, I Googled local Liquor stores on a search for a rare bottle of bourbon for my finace. Holiday Package Store (also know as "Holiday Wine & Spirits") came up as a store specializing in "hard-to-find wines and liquors." So I thought Holiday Package Store may be able to help... I WAS WRONG!! Upon entering, a younger guy with a beard was chatting with another guy behind the front counter. He asked if I needed help. I apologized for interrupting them and then asked if he had any limited or rare bourbons for sale. He mentioned a local brand that I was not interested in. When I mentioned Blanton's Bourbon, he sarcastically laughed and told me good luck, and any rare bourbons he does get in the store, he gives to his friends or consumes the bourbons himself. I mentioned finding two bottles of Blanton's, but each store that had a bottle wanted well over double the retail price!...(I did my homework and asked around what the retail price was for this specific and hard to find bottle of bourbon.) The younger guy immediately made a derogatory comment towards me (basically saying I was stupid for not buying those overpriced bottles.) He then proceeded to ask if I liked my finace's vagina! Seriously, what does that have to do with my inquiry for a bottle of bourbon??? I mentioned drinking another less expensive bourbon, which set the younger gentlemen off to the point of yelling at me and telling me to get the "f*ck" out of his store! I thought he was joking at first, but I was wrong! He literally ran to his front door, opened the door and kept yelling for me to leave. I tried to ask about another bottle he had for sale behind the counter, but he told me "he would not sell that to me!" Does he assume I can't afford a rare bottle of bourbon??? Never once was I rude on any accounts to him! I basically walked in to inquire about a special hard to find bourbon, but I was quickly criticized, called derogatory names, had sexual remarks made towards my fiance, and felt threatened. AGAIN, I would advise all future and current customers, take ALL your business a few miles up the street to Tower. They actually respect you no matter what you look like or what you ask for! read more

Sunday evening was doing a bit of shopping and eating and remembered I hadn't bought any tequila before heading home, now before you start thinking it was to celebrate Cinco de Mayo let me set the record straight. I have been sick so after listening to the sa's at work decided to take them up on their advice that "tequilla would take care of anything," It didn't but was willing to try anything, I did get a decent nights sleep so that's a plus. Just a typical package store besides the fact that the employees there are a bit racist. Every time I go in there they have a smart racist comment about everything and everyone. And will judge you right off the bat. One time me and my Friends were trying to get an expensive bottle for a special occasion & wanted to read the description on the back of it. one employee just stated " I know y'all can't afford that , so don't even touch it " .... after that we just ended up leaving and going somewhere else. I love going to Holiday! From what I have seen while in the store... the people running that place have to put up with all kinds of CRAZY that walks through their door. I know that they are working hard and it sounds like they when a customer gets agitated nowadays they escalate the minor situation to a degree where I am sure the folks working there are just tired of dealing with them. I guess that's what happens when you sell alcohol in poor area that seems to always be changing. I hate to say that I am in there a lot... maybe twice a week and every time the folks there are so kind and helpful. I have been in there a few times when a group of idiots will try to gang up on the cashiers... I've had to back him up before. Buford Hwy is an interesting place and I'll have to say... I believe Holiday is the type of place that gives Buford Highway it's unique character. read more

Very rude staff, felt like they didn't want me in there even though I was spending several hundred dollars. Cashier told me I was taking too long after I was in there a total of ten minutes shopping for top shelf product. Then at the end one of the cashiers made a racist remark about another customer as they were ringing me up. Very uncomfortable place, will not be returning. read more

INTERESTING LEADERSHIP HERE = This is one of those standalone, liquor buildings I probably would've passed if it hadn't been so close to another place we were visiting. The outside just doesn't attract much attention and the occasional broken-looking car in the lot doesn't help things. At least the inside looks more similar to chain stores. Decently clean and organized well enough. WHY ARE YOU TAILING US? = We were greeted upon entry but within a minute, one of the lady employees trailed us and wouldn't let us out of her sight for the entirety of the visit. Mind you--we were well-dressed in our late 20s didn't attract attention but she was a hawk-eye on us. We asked for local wine (which they didn't have) and from there the lady proceeded to sell us on about 30 other wines and talk on and on and on. OH WELL = Prices were still a tad higher than the big-box alcohol stores especially when it came to local Beer. This place was okay for the convenience but next time we won't bother. read more

Great spot on the BuHi that offers a really cool selection of craft beers between Greens and Tower. Seems to always change or rotate with new stuff. Sometimes the price tags fall off the shelf but the prices are pretty competitive from what I see. I also enjoy talking with the people working there. All of them are really nice folks. read more

In response to the last review: I too have had the same problem at Greens where I bought a bottle of Baileys (which did have an expiration date and was past the date) that was awful tasting. It was my mistake to buy it in the first place with it being past the expiration date; however, when I went to return it, the manager at Greens was unable to accept the bottle, offer a refund or accept an exchange of the bottle because he said sternly that it is against state law to return opened bottles of alcohol. This is something I did not know and did not understand. Because of this incident at Greens, I took my business up the road to Holiday where they thoroughly explained and reaffirmed what the state law in fact is in a very friendly way. From that day on, I have only shopped at Holiday and only Holiday. for it has been and will always be my place for the booze. The staff is more than helpful and friendly whenever I walk in the door. I cant say enough good things about this about this great liquor. read more

I stumbled upon this hidden gem a couple of years ago. I had low expectations, thinking it was more of a beer and liquor store than a wine store. I'm no connoisseur, but I enjoy a good selection, good advice and learning new things. This is now my go-to wine shop. You'll find two Gradys there, Grady Sr and Grady Jr. JR is the man with the wine plan. Give him an occasion, menu and budget and he'll have several options for you. Unlike bigger stores that are designed to "get you in and get you out" they're more than willing to take some time talking about sports, current events or whatever you want to strike up a conversation about. Case discounts are available, and we've bought plenty there for big office and client parties. read more

I once frequently visited this bottle shop for a large number of purchases. I always had a nice time while in the store, up until this evening. I was checking out, paying with my debit card as always and noticed that they were charging me for credit prices, which are substantially higher than cash/debit purchases. When I asked the so called "manager" about the issue, he told me I should take my business somewhere else if I didn't agree with it. I knew the old man speaking was indeed NOT a manager, so I just opted to go ahead and make the purchase, then contact the real store manager via telephone. When I called the store, I asked for the manager, and a young man whom I've spoken with in person before answered the phone. I told him about the issue, and he seemed to care less about what had happened. I notified him that every single bottle shop in Atlanta whom does the cash/credit pricing always accepted debit transactions as cash, as this same store has done for me for the last five months of shopping there. **This is where is goes REALLY south** When I notified the "manager" that I was on several review websites, as well as BeerAdvocate and RateBeer, and would write a review about my experience in the store, he proceeded to scream into the phone, "SUCK MY D**K, SUCK MY D**K, SUCK MY D**K!" He shouted this over and over for almost three minutes strait, and then broke off into screaming "You must be a f**king meth head" and, "I want you to drive down here and suck my f**king d**k in the parking lot". This managers name is Grady Lucky Jr. He apparently only got his job because he works with "daddy" Grady Lucky Sr. Bottom line, I will NEVER spend my money at this store again, under any circumstances! I have read several other reviews about this stores racial hatred, and bigotry used against people of ethnic background (I am caucasian btw) and I refuse to support any business using those practices. Do yourself a favor, and drive the extra three minutes to TOWER's wine & spirits. They have a much better selection, more knowledgeable staff which isn't racist, and honors the cash/debit purchases like these businesses are supposed to. I was a customer of this establishment until yesterday. I purchased a bottle of Carolans Irish Cream on June 21, 2011. Later that evening I opened the bottle to discover that it had gone bad, it looked like spoiled milk. Being that it contained cream, it probably sat on the shelf too long and went bad (did not have an expiration date on the bottle). I returned the next day on June 22, 2011 to get an exchange and was told that they could not exchange or refund it because it was opened. Ummm, I would not have discovered it was a bad product until I opened it, duh. The manager on duty was no help at all, being adament about not being able to give me an exchange or refund saying I might have put something in the bottle. Really, I put something in a bottle of spoiled Irish Cream? He told me that I would have to contact the manufacturer for a refund. I found that to be one of the dumbest things I ever heard. If I bought a carton of milk from the grocery store and got it home and found out it was spoiled I would not contact Mayfield for a refund I would take it back to the store I got it from. Anyway, needless to say this establishment will not get any more of my business and I will not tell anyone else to go there either. read more

Miserable, lonely crooks. I asked about a 375 ml bottle of relatively low-end whiskey, and the younger guy told me it was $3,000. He then proceeded to lecture me about economics, describe me as a yuppie, and mock me for "not being able to afford it." When I pointed out that the bottle was worth far less than that amount, the old guy accused me of being "anti-capitalist," which felt like a threat. The younger guy then told me about how he illegally buys and sells liquor outside of the context of the store, a practice that I'll most certainly be reporting. These are bad people who knowingly price gouge, and gleefully brag about it to anyone who do much as asks for a price. They should be put out of business. read more
