I had the gem of Kentucky double oak bourbon , best ever , and I found it here for a great price, way better than totally wine. I am a huge fan of the warehouse style liquor store! While this is not total wine big it is big. They have a very nice selection of cold beer... not just some but a lot of types and flavors. At the time I was really liking the Yuengling Hershey season brew... it was OHHHH MY GODDY TO DARN HOTTIE!! They had some here and I picked up a couple of 6s for the weekend. There is a good selection of alcohol here as well... I even found some premixed in a cab whistle pig eye smash ginger lime... I had never seen these before but ohhh my Goddie they were tooooo hottie as well! Now like I said this place is big but not total wine size big... however they have what you're looking for. Certainly a good option if you don't have a total wine nearby or if you are just passing near this location. Stop in and have a look a look around... you won't be disappointed. read more

I've been coming here for years. Literally since it opened. Have a very good rapport with pretty much everyone in the store, however, there is an older white gentleman (I'm using that term loosely) who ruins the experience any time I see him. I'm not referring to the owner, who is nice and helpful, but the man in his 60's who often mans either the front register or drive through. His attitude is genuinely terrible, has been since he started about a year ago, and today is probably the last straw for me. I was picking up a nice bottle of champagne for a brunch I was going to and there were about 3 people in front of me in line. He greeted everyone warmly (did not check ID) and asked if they were in the system (referring to the loyalty rewards system). Once he got to me, sans greeting, he asked for my ID (which in and of itself is fine as I look about a decade younger than I am) and rang up my products. He neglected to ask if I were in the loyalty rewards) as he did with everyone else, so I said "aren't you going to ask me if I'm in the system?" At which point he did. This is merely one example of the numerous times he's been obviously rude. I'm not sure what it stems from, but I have a few ideas. I'll be complaining about it to the store, but it deserved to be put on Yelp as well. read more

We are in town for a funeral of my husbands father. Wanted some red wine for a few guests that were here. Ordered some beer and wine but they didn't have the brand in stock. Instead of reaching out they sent the order without even trying to substitute it. So disappointed as was our guests. They are "reviewing" our review on door dash. Pretty sure they won't publish it. Unbelievably bad - I have tried and tried but this place just doesn't do it at all. First visit in store so excited, I ask the associates about the owners because I heard they were sommeliers. The people working didn't know what a sommelier was??? So of course it stood to reason after that they had NO wine knowledge. But the place was new so I chalked it up to that. Came back a few months later to grab some wine to go with pizza I was picking up. Still no one with any knowledge and inflated prices. The newsletter comes into my email and there is a wine I'm interested in getting a case of I email them - NEVER got a response!!!! Now they are doing a Daou wine dinner. The link on their social media is broken to buy tickets - there in no info on the pairings so I DM them on FB and two days go by. I can see they have read my message but NO response!!! This place is INSANE!!! Their selection of craft beers is off the hook. I found a gin there that I'd been looking for for over a year. They have twice the selection of mixers than most stores. And they're very helpful. I asked about fruit wines and was led to three different locations in the wine section for those and more that might please my unusual palate. For all practical purposes, I'm classified as a nondrinker and my swigging friends poke fun at me for it. I don't pretend to be an aficionado about any beverage other than water. Still, the thought of a package store less than two miles from home had me somewhat enthusiastic and fascinated, if not for myself than for my friends and family. My annual intake of alcohol is admittedly minuscule. I am nevertheless very aware of what I prefer in terms of beer, wine, and hard liquor on those rare occasions of indulgence. From what I saw on the outside during its construction phase, I pictured Grapes & Grains as a massive warehouse with a vast array of exotic and well-known selections of beer, wine, and spirits. The interior, though brand new and very pleasant, isn't nearly as spacious as I imagined it to be. I headed directly to the cooler in order to check the selection of single beer choices. The assortment was dismal. Additionally, there might have been only a sparse selection of non-refrigerated single bottles or cans of beer on the store shelves. I did not see any displays offering 1-2 ounce trial size, single servings of liquors. It is very convenient as well as thrifty to be able to sample various brands of rum, whisky, vodka, tequila, liqueurs, etc., prior to purchasing a large bottle. This prevents having to deal with an unalterable occurrence of buyer's remorse. I was mildly intrigued by the wine selection at Grapes & Grains. Specifically looking for the type of wine my wife prefers, there were several vineyards and labels I had not seen before, even in stores offering a much more extensive selection. For good or for bad, prices aren't much different than what one would expect to pay elsewhere. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at Grapes & Grains. The staff associates at Grapes & Grains are friendly, knowledgeable, and eagerly assistive and I truly hope it will remain so. This is a standout characteristic in today's complacent customer (dis)service culture. Grapes & Grains opened its doors today and I'm well aware it will require time for inventory and operations to develop. There is plenty of incentive for Grapes & Grains to make enhancements. These incremental improvements will also add to the shopping experience. I will look to amending my review of Grapes & Grains as the store progresses. To respond to another reviewer named Brian R. who questioned the legitimacy of my opinion merely on the basis of my limited alcohol intake. I'm not a teetotaler but I would likewise not be considered a social drinker. This does not suggest I never drink alcohol at various times throughout the year. One doesn't have to be a board certified juicehead to have personal preferences about beer, wine, and spirits. I am also fully capable of comparing the selection, service, and value of one package store over another. Have another drink mate, relax and let go of your troubles. read more

Let's be real here! I can walk to this lovely establishment with no probs! Staff is super friendly, and it is a brand new store so they are learning their customers and what products to stock more of versus what's not such a hit in this market! I am an apple martini and cosmo fan so I would say they need to keep mixers stocked! I have been living in this area for 20 years and trust me the ladies out here we love a good martini or two or three or four ......you get my drift so keeping a good stock of mixers is very necessary. Great selection of alcohol and the pricing is comparable to Total Wine and More without the drive. I am good as long as I can get my Tito's for around 26 or 27 bucks!! I don't know what would compel a self-describe nondrinker to write a review, or how much stock you'd want to put into it. Not judging anyone's choices and preferences, this comes purely from the perspective of being informative to the community and helpful to the business. Or lack thereof, as it were. That said, this is a nice store! Location is great, selection is "good enough" and you'll find just about everything from mass produced to premium brands, on par with a Total Wine without having to go over to the mall area and navigate their labyrinthian shelving. Prices are good or better than the rest of the market (in fact I had to do a double take on one bottle of bourbon they have priced cheap enough to almost make it a daily sipper). There's a lot to like here, certainly far more than what the previous 2-stars would otherwise indicate. It's a no-brainer to add to your rotation of go-to liquor stores, especially if you're buying in bulk or for a special event. In no ways are these dealbreakers, but in full honesty the only things lacking are the special release programs, but that's to be expected with a store this new. It's a bit unreasonable to be disappointed they don't have store pick bourbons or some rare limited release spirits/wines after only a week in business (and again they more than made up for it in price, but if they did this place could dominate). Nevertheless this is Atlanta and these are pretty deep waters. It would also be great if they had an online feature, but at their size I don't know if that makes sense. No doubt they have the potential to and I look forward to them becoming a staple of the community. Edit 9/9/19: Adding a star for the feedback and the app update. This store is right down my alley - quite literally! I was very impressed with their selection of everything from bourbon to beer. They pretty much seem to have all the staples any successful liquor store they have, and then some! Not to mention, their location will save a lot of people (my neighbors and myself, included) a lot of gas! The interior of the store is very appealing, almost makes it hard to believe this was a pharmacy not too long ago. I guess this is where we will be getting a different kind of medicine. The exposed wood is a beautiful accent, and those floors are awesome! I like being able to see their inventory up top - that really personalizes the experience for me, and sets the tone for a "local and locally owned" store. I think this store will do great, and I'm excited to frequent here as they grow to be a great addition to the neighborhood! read more
