I don't write many reviews, but Window Guild absolutely earned this one. They installed Milgard retrofit windows in my personal residence in Sunnyvale, replacing the original 1960s aluminum-frame windows and a patio door (about 10 windows and 1 patio door total). The transformation was incredible--it completely changed the look and feel of the house. From start to finish, the attention to detail was outstanding. Adel, the owner, is one of the most responsive contractors I've worked with. He always answers his phone, follows up, and genuinely cares that everything is done right. Quinn was also fantastic throughout the process, and Kevin did an excellent job with the measurements and made sure everything was accurate. The experience was so good that I recommended Window Guild to a friend, and they completed another project in Berkeley consisting of 18 windows and 2 patio doors. Once again, everything went smoothly and the results were excellent. On top of the quality of the work, their pricing was very competitive. I spent a lot of time getting quotes from many of the well-known window companies you see advertising everywhere, and Window Guild offered some of the best value without sacrificing quality or service. I was very pleased with my experience with the Window Guild. Despite being now headquartered in Fairfield, they are a San Francisco company from way back and still do about half their business in SF. The person who came out to assess our situation was Adel, and he was easy to connect to and trust. His answers were always knowledgeable and had reasons. He assessed that two of the windows I was replacing were incorrectly installed in the first place, which did not surprise me because whoever lived here in the 90s was a real do-it-yourselfer with more ambition than skills. So those two needed a "rebuild," but our bay windows were fine with a less expensive "replace." Once I signed the contract, the next person to come out was Kevin and he took very specific measurements and also rang with credibility. I was pleased to learn that many of the Window Guild employees have been with them a long time, which speaks well of the organization even if it was sold once. On install day, some new guys came out to get started, and they were also pleasant and professional. Kevin came out a few hours later to provide senior supervision, so this was not at all like having the senior guy sell the work but have nothing to do with getting it done. As it turned out, they needed a second day because we didn't know if my second rebuild was going to need some dryrot work (because it had been leaking) and they didn't want to start that late in the day. They came back in a week and it was just fine. The windows are beautiful to look through and we can already tell they are so much better insulated than our old ones. They are Milgard windows and come with their lifetime warranty, which is better than what Andersen Windows gave us when we used them for other ones. read more

The Window Guild did an excellent job replacing our carport back door. This wasn't a simple install either. The original door was from the 1930s, so there were a lot of quirks to work through, but their team handled it seamlessly. Working with Quinn and Adel was easy from the start. Communication was quick, clear, and professional, and the turnaround time was impressively fast. Vito, their lead installer, came out with his helper Romeo and did a fantastic job. You can tell they take pride in their work. The installation was clean, precise, and handled with real care given the age of the structure. What stood out most was the follow-through. Vito came back afterward to swap in black hinges to match the look we wanted, no hassle. Overall, great experience from start to finish. Since it was over a year, I reached out to the manufacturer (Milgard) and began the repair process--but heard nothing back. Coincidentally, I ran into the owner of The Window Guild while he was working nearby. He remembered me and asked how I liked the windows. I mentioned the issue, and he offered to take a look. After checking it out, he said he'd order the part and handle it. Two weeks later, his team came by and fixed it in five minutes--free of charge--while I was still waiting to hear from Milgard. They did the 9 front windows on our 2 unit condo, and to this day I get compliments on what a great job they have done. We were in desperate need of a new sliding patio door to replace our 20 yr. old slider that opened loud and extremely rough and took someone with mega strength to open and close it. I contacted ABC Windows in late June and was fortunate that Adel and installer, Juan, were in the area that day and could come over that afternoon to assess the job. Adel was extremely knowledgeable and explained in detail the various materials used in their products and the options, while Juan assessed what would be required for the installation. Adel explained that everything was done in-house and it would take a few weeks before the slider would be ready to be installed. Adel's expertise, his thorough presentation and a very fair estimate sent later that afternoon, made it easy for me to choose ABC Windows for the job. I actually received a call sooner than expected that the slider was ready and the installation was booked. Installers Juan and Miguel arrived on the scheduled day, right on time. They did a great job and the new slider and screen open so smoothly and quietly that you can barely hear them. This was a welcome contrast to what we had to deal with before! What a fantastic team! Our flimsy 1965 aluminum single pane/louvered windows could not keep wind or smoke from entering the house. We went for a retrofit of four ancient windows and couldn't be happier. Fitting the new windows into the old openings was a huge challenge, but it was accomplished swiftly and efficiently, with a ton of custom woodwork required to get the fitting just right. We contracted with ABC window in 2020 for complete home window replacement. Windows arrived and were installed within the agreed install time and were installed with a moderate amount of care and expertise. They look great but the issue comes in with the warranty. There really isn't one. When I called to get items replaced, I was told that should be an insurance issue and to file with them. I told them that I just needed a screen, with the frame, for 1 window. Was told it would be a min $250 for that. And again, was told to call my insurance company. It has taken me 2 months and numerous phone calls to even get a call back and then to be told it will bne $250+ when I was sold a 'bumper to bumper' warranty with these windows. I have huge reservations that these will ever be able to be repaired or replaced should something happen during the 50yr warranty period. Point is, you can pay more and pay less for windows but chose someplace else to put your money that has some type of customer service and cares if your windows are right. read more

Hired ABC windows to do all the windows in my home. I had paid extra to have the larger windows to have tempered glass, and a couple years after one of the windows broke. From the crack pattern on the window, we could clearly tell that the window was not tempered. So if this one window was not tempered, all the other ones I paid for probably were not tempered either. Further tried to contact the company about this issue that they stopped responding to my emails. This company is clearly lacking integrity - in addition, when I watched the installation of my windows it did not seem to be up to par as they did not insulate correctly and drilled nails into the bottom of the window sill, which is not supposed to be done. read more

I wish I could be writing a review about the quality of their work, or the prices, or their service. Unfortunately, I never got this far.I tried for a couple weeks to set up an appointment. No one EVER answers the phone there, and like a lot of people, I have a job, and can't answer the phone whenever they call me, so we played phone tag for a LONG time. I finally did get an appointment for someone to come by my house. Then they called to change it a few days later. There was a little more phone tag about this, but we finally got a new appointment on the schedule. And then the ultimate disappointment. NO CALL NO SHOW. No one showed up to the house for the appointment, and I never got a call or anything from them. I called later that day and left a message (since no one ever answers), and again today. Disclosure: I *did not* use ABC for window replacements. This review is to reflect my experience with their customer service and to reinforce the high trust/professionalism already expressed by those who are customers. I left a message asking for a call-back to set up a time to have ABC come out and give me a quote for window replacement. I had already had a couple vendors come out so had a pretty good idea of the range of what could/needed to be done. Got my call back within a reasonable amount of time and appointment set. Robert came out on the arranged day...and ON TIME (why does nearly every vendor always run late nowadays). His demeanor and courteousness immediately invoked trust (and I'm a tough customer normally). He was kind enough to respect that I had already seen a couple/few vendors and cut to the chase. After a most interesting and helpful education about window replacements, and how it relates to my needs, he finally suggested the easiest/least expensive - and most appropriate - option, which was not work that his company specializes in...sadly. Even though we will not be using ABC to replace our windows in the near future, I can assure you that they will be the first company I call when/if that time may come. We have used these guys to replace pretty much all the cheap windows my window had replaced when she first bought the house over 10 years ago. Let me tell you that my mother in typical Chinese fashion hired these moron contractors to do everything at the house and pretty much screwed everything up but, hey, my mom saved mega-bucks, right? Who cares if these windows leak water, noise, pollution, etc.? Anyway, these guys are great. I dealt with Alex on th estimate and Andrei on the installation. They are pleasant and punctual and do as promised. Their windows are good quality and comparable to the specs of some of the more expensive guys like Andersen but nearly half the cost. Great warranty and great service. You can't ask for much better. But they only did vinyl windows for me since I don't own a mansion in Pacific Heights or anything like that. read more

Alex came out to give me a quote and was very knowledgeable about local building codes regarding window retrofits, helpful in explaining options, and thoroughly answered all my questions. Maureen was a pleasure to talk to on the phone in the office. When I wanted to make some changes and had further questions, she had Alex contact me right away and he sent a revised plan to me by email--very convenient and easy. Robert came out and did final measuring and was here for the installation, which went very smooth. They had my 9 windows ready in about a week and installed them in only a matter of hours. They were very professional and respectful and did a complete clean up when done. And the windows look really good. We've gotten a number of compliments on them. I was not quite happy about the fit of several of the screens on the windows and when I called Maureen, she did not hesitate to make it right without question. To me, this says a lot about a company. Robert came out to re-measure and had new ones made and came back to change them out. I was so pleased to be doing business with this family who is passionate and ethical about what they do. They really made this home improvement project easy and smooth for me. Besides looking good, the windows really insulate well against outside sounds and we've even noticed a difference already in insulation against the colder temps we've gotten here lately.
